I went to this location with my family member to purchase my son a bike because he felt they were the best in the area. His mom asked them if they had a military discount and they said yes it was $200 off . Then the salesman went backtrack and said I can't give you $200 off the bike but I'll give you $200 credit in service. I said OK. The lead salesman and assistant salesman were so professional and nice. I decided to have my girlfriend her daughter a e-bike from them. We had no idea, but the salesman told her she just missed a sale and the bike was $200 cheaper. So he told her since I can't get you $200 off I will give you $200 of service credit. I told my family members this is a great deal and these guys are on point so my son got a flat tire. I took the bike back and I had $200 and SERVICE credit well the salesman charge me full price and said that when he and his partner said they could give $200 of service credit they can't. As a business owner when you make a promise like that to your clients, you stick by it yes they have a great salesmen, yes they have a great bikes and yes, they have a beautiful business. When you give someone your word that is your bond. When theywent against their word and said they're sorry and I can get a 5% discount. I shook his hand, said thank you and walked away, if these guys make any promises to you on prices or services make sure you get it in writing. Buying your first e-bike can be overwhelming with all the different technologies, options, drives, and battery choices out there and these guys have the experience and selection to make sure you get the right bike for you. Largest selection of bikes in the South Bay. These guys were one of the very first e-bike shops on the West Coast and you can tell by the knowledge and experience of the staff and ownership. Best thing is you can try a large selection of bikes before you buy. You really have to try the bike and make sure the fit and ride is what you are expecting. I'm surprised by the reviews. My experience has been horrible. Communication is non-existent. When I initially dropped off the bike, Brandon (the owner) said it would be ready that day. I told him I wouldn't be able to stick around but would pick it up in a couple of days; cut to a couple of days later, I called, and he said it wasn't ready but would be in a couple of hours. I drove there, and it wasn't prepared. e Ryde is NOT close to me at all and let him know that before I headed there. I left very disappointed that I just drove ALL the way there. I called again a couple of days later to check on the status after he said he would call me back but didn't he said the battery was coming and would call me back apologized for the back and forth and would try and accommodate to drop off the bike at a discount. I never heard back called back AGAIN a couple of days later and he said he just finished getting the bike up and running and got me a "free" battery still costing $150. I asked about the discounted delivery after quoting me $75 to drop It off and got irate with me and said he didn't like my attitude, and that I wanted him to work for free when I asked about the discount (HE mentioned) that I would need to pick up the bike myself. Really disappointed mostly with the way Brandon spoke with me. I still haven't picked up the bike and feel like there's more I will have to include with already an odd and irate exchange. Hopefully, the bike is ready. Hopefully won't be yelled at by grown men. read more

Brandon was awesome up until he delivered the bike to my house. After that he stopped responding to texts. He gave me false information about the bike I purchased for my son. He said you can get a green registration sticker on the e-moto bikes and the police wouldn't bother you. After he delivered the bike, he wouldn't respond to texts even regarding giving me information to register the bike. He sold me the bike knowing that I intended for my son to use it as transportation to and from school, as well as to friend's houses. He didn't tell me that it wasn't a street legal bike and that the police would pull my son over and take away his bike. That is exactly what happened. Now I have a $3400 bike sitting in my garage that no one can ride because it is illegal and he won't take the bike back or exchange it for a bike. He had a duty to inform me that the bike was not street legal, especially given that he knew I planned on having my son ride it on the streets. This is shameful and has been reported to the Better Business Bureau and I plan on filing a suit in the Superior Court. read more

I can't say that I loved having to shell out nearly $400 and haul me and my bicycle on a long ride from Hollywood to El Segundo, all because Stromer's Omni display became obsolete and required an expensive upgrade. That said, given those circumstances, I'm glad to have found this gem of a store. Craig and this shop were terrific at supporting and helping me, even though I'd purchased my bicycle elsewhere. This is the best bike shop! I came here on the recommendation of a friend and bought my first e-bike in January 2019. I ride 18 miles round trip from my house to work and have put over 2000 miles on my bike in the last 6 months. I've had some mishaps because the roads are terrible and people are distracted and sometimes reckless, but Craig, Andrea, and Augustine have taken excellent care of me and my bike. Several times Craig has given me step by step instructions over the phone when I have had to trouble shoot something. I wholeheartedly recommend this family owned business for their excellent customer service and because they are genuine, great people! I'm sure I will end up buying another e-bike down the road and would only buy from Electric Bikes LA. You can buy a cheaper bike online, but you will have a hard time getting anyone to service it. Most shops, including this one, won't touch your bike if they don't sell that brand. It's too much of a liability. The price I paid for my bike was fair and the customer service they provide is worth the money. read more

The Absolute Best Buying Experience Ever!!! And not just in-regards to bikes :) A little background about me: I have gone close to 20+ years having had the same bike since I was 7 years-old. Being an L.A. native & an indoor-gym type, I was never one to ride a bike to either commute or use for recreational purposes. That being said, I was very reluctant to get back on that horse - or bike. I spent a little over a year researching (online & various bike stores throughout L.A.) as to what would be my new "baby". I knew that I wanted something versatile. & I wanted it to be a nice compromise of function meets form. After a very long time of saving $ & thorough research, I settled on a Montague Folding Bike (which they offer electric kits for). There really isn't many buying options for a Montague. That is when I came across Electric Bikes LA. & boy am I glad I did. After calling on a random Saturday, I had the pleasure of speaking to Craig. We were both pretty much on the same page when it came to my impressions of the bike model of my choice (as I originally narrowed it down to 2 options). I inquired about coming-in for a test ride & he was more than happy to accommodate. Lather that vary same day, I made the trek to their store in lovely El Segundo, met Craig in-person, & he was happy to let me test out my Montague of choice for a nice 10 minute (although he was very, very generous with that time-limit which turned out to be around 30) pleasure ride around the surrounding beautiful beach environment. Having answered any & all my questions & reservations about the bike, I placed my purchase. We worked a deal where I would option an upgrade in tires & he threw in a free kick-stand. Unfortunately, the actual bike model was not available in-store, but they placed the order. I was very happy that I was not receiving a store model but a brand-new one. The following Monday, Andrea was very kind enough to follow-up on my tire purchase! (What a surprise being that they are closed on Mondays!). When my bike finally arrived in-store 6 days later, Craig & Drew were happy to inform me on the ins-&-outs of the bike. Craig showed me how to properly fold & unfold the bike. He even helped me load the rather hefty baby into my minivan. Electric Bikes LA even saved me the hassle of disposing of the shipping box / packaging materials. Follow-up to about a week later. Unfortunately, my new ride seemed to have been vandalized as someone had apparently bent my front derailleur (it is my fault for being naive enough to think that a bike is safe unattended & properly chained in the L.A. area - makes me very sad, smh). I brought it in the next day & Drew did not hesitate to fix-it into like-new condition. No questions, no charge, no fuss. Service with a smile. It should be noted that Electric Bikes LA is the only local, Montague-certified retailer & repair center in L.A. county. Honestly, this was the best buying experience that I have ever had (& not just in regards to bikes). I cannot say enough good things about Craig, Drew, & Andrea. They really, really know their bike stuff. They especially know how to treat their customers. I would give an infinite number of stars (beyond 5) as a rating if I could. The world would indeed be a much, much better place if everyone ran their business the way that Electric Bikes LA did. As a fellow business owner, I believe their model & practices are the gold standard. Also, when I talked to Craig about their Yelp page, he had said that the only complaint that they have ever had, was that the store was not as big as some would like it to be. I think the store is very adequate in-size. And that is not a "problem" to be concerned about in the least. They are the perfect business. No question about it. I went looking for electric bikes but found they are also dealers for Brompton non-electric folding bikes which are in demand & hard to find, I was surprised to find they had a good good stock of them. The owners and their mechanic are very knowledgeable friendly people. They answer your questions with no sale pressure which is important to me. They are people people and you will enjoy just talking to them. My wife and I each bought an eZee brand electric bike...they are fantastic, we are having a blast on them. read more

I am so very thankful I found this family owned shop because 1.) Everyone here is super down to earth and welcoming, 2.) They have a good sense of humor, 3.) These people are super knowledgeable about electric bikes and manual kickback scooters and lastly 4.) they are some of the most genuine and kind people I have ever met in a business setting. I came in today looking for a kickback scooter because Uni starts up soon and I'm tired of walking around in the boiling heat. They carry Xootr and are an authorized retailer so that was a huge plus. This store preaches you are more protected purchasing with them, however you are better off buying direct from manufacturers. This store will leave you out to dry. Unreturned phone calls, emails, etc. Double check your receipt, they will accidentally charge you more than m.s.r.p! Hansel is a lame duck, willing to take your money and then blames that his hands are tied because there is nothing he can do, the "owner" Brandon won't let him entertain lawful and just returns. This store repeatedly spoke badly of Rad and Blix bikes because of their customer service, which had a huge effect on our decision on where to purchase. It has been a while, and here is another update. I purchased a Montague folding bicycle that Craig had installed a Bionx kit on. It had been in the store for a while, and I got it when they had a special on the bike. I like the Bionx system so much that I sold the Stromer that had 13,000 miles on it. Shortly after purchasing the bike I read that Bionx had gone out of business, and I thought that I would just ride the bike until it broke and have Craig (at electric bikes LA) convert it back to a regular bike. So, at 4,500 miles something on the bike did break, and I took it into Craig. He searches out 3rd party suppliers in Canada to find a replacement part, and fixes the bike. I just past 5,000 miles on this bike. Andrea and Craig (sister/brother) really stand behind the products they sell, and do it with genuine happiness. read more

Just ok .I gave them a shot but the bikes seem a bit dated, over priced and so slow. I am not an old man and it seems like they are catering to an older generation. So at their prices their is no way I could afford a descent ebike....so I asked them about what kits they sold. The only kit they sale is the bionix which i cant believe is even in business for how crappy and expensive they are. I ended up buying a 30mph 1000w bbshd bike from luna cycle and couldnt be happier. read more

I went there to buy my first mountain bike. After trying the Montague Paratrooper Pro I already loved it and wanted to just buy it, however Drew, the guy there actually asked me not to buy it yet, as he knew that was the first bike I had a test ride on, and asked me to go to other bike shops to try other candidates before making the decision. He also tried to help me to determine what kind of a bike suits my way of riding, and his non biased opinion cleared some of the confusions I got from different people. That's exactly the kind of people and bike shops I like to go to and get things and service from. I've had the Montague Paratrooper Pro for over a month now and I still love it! Montague's mountain bikes are great, and I really wish there are more bike shops carrying them. Luckily this only LA shop that carries them happens to be an excellent shop. If you think a folding bike is always a compromise on the performance or feeling, I highly recommend you to try the Montague bikes. Although I could have saved some money by ordering online because of the tax, I'm glad that I didn't, because the whole educational experience and advices I got are worth more already, and I did end up needing to adjust the bike to fit me better. I hope we all can support local bike shops, as we'll be the ones benefiting from it too. read more

If you are looking for a folding bike, then go look around at other bike stores first and then come here. The other bike stores I visited (7 total) sometimes had a folding bike or two (or were just listed as a retailer with no stock) and those stores knew nothing about folding bikes. Electric Bikes LA sell premium brands and know everything about them. Also, they sell Brompton - one of very few retailers in the US that does, which will convince you on design alone that Brompton is the way to go. They aren't cheap - and can't be discounted (similar to other premium brands like Apple, Bose, etc) but once you know the crap that is out there and finally see/test ride a Brompton in person and spend some time with the Andrea, Craig, and the team getting all your questions answered, you'll find it in your budget to get the Brompton - they are worth it. They offered for me to do a rental before the purchase that could be applied to a purchase... Awesome idea, it allowed me to test my new Metro commute with the folder before committing. Although I did a full custom order, it came in pretty quick because Electric Bikes LA has reserved production slots every month. I highly recommend this place - they take all the time you want to make sure you get EXACTLY what you want. I'd love to see them open a store in downtown LA! read more
