Immersive and in-character reviews aside, my group attempted and escaped SOE. To get to the point, I will say, clearly and confidently, that SOE is THE most definitive survival horror experience you can get from an escape room. From the moment you enter and even until the last few moments you leave (...or not), SOE's environment remains consistenly immersive. Don't believe me? While you're waiting, check out the bathroom. USE THE SOAP. Rather than explain the room to avoid spoilers, I'll instead use comparisons. If you have played or watched atmospheric horror games and movies, then you will understand the gist of SOE. Want a better example? Cool. Right now, stop what you are doing. Go on Youtube. Type in CLOCK TOWER SNES. I'll wait. Finished? Good. Did Bobby Barrows scare you? That's too bad. Because SOE makes CLOCK TOWER look like a bedtime story. This is not a room for people who just like the mental/problem solving aspect of escape rooms. There is nothing here to test how amasing you are at Sudoku or that you were able to pass MENSA level logic tests when you were 13. It is an intense, team effort experience and I'm sure will either break or make friendships and relationships at the conclusion of it all. If I haven't said it enough, I loved this room. Ross and Andrew were amazing! I brought my family here and for many of them it was their first time in an escape room. I let Ross know that my mom gets scared easily and he was so kind and made sure Andrew didn't go after her. Andrew was also super accommodating and a great actor! I've done about 20+ escape rooms and when I heard about an escape room that used live actors I couldn't wait to try it! It took some convincing to get my friend to join me because she heard just how scary it was, but she ended up having a blast. Yes the actors do touch/brush you, but obviously they can't hurt you or cause harm so it's all in good fun. We screamed our heads off and enjoyed every second of it. If you can handle Knotts Scary Farm or Universal Haunt night it's really not all that different. The staff was super cool about everything. As we were driving over we realized we had booked for tomorrow by accident, so we called them and asked if there was any way we could still come in and they graciously allowed us to come in anyways, squeezing us between two other groups. The set design was awesome, even the lobby room was spooky. It was overall a very immersive experience that I would recomend to any escape room lover! read more

I have NEVER experienced an escape room like this. I enjoyed it so much that my party (and a couple of newcomers) and I came yesterday AND today. I was prayingggg our original hosts (Zed and Andrew) would be there today because they did absolutely amazing and I was scared 120% of the time haha. But not only was their acting amazing - their customer service was on point! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this location solely because of Zed and Andrew! I truly hope they're praised and recognized for the amount of hard work they put into creating those characters, their ability to improvise incredibly quickly - literally everything. I give it five stars for the big support. The staff is friendly the manager was so down to earth and sweet. In terms of Zoe's escape room, it has changed in terms of the scariness and levels of puzzles heres why: HUGE SPOILERS DONT READ: Ask them for a level 10 scariness it wasn't that scary at a 5. The second stage puzzle used to be a bit more complex. I remember having to unlock a box with a key and grabbing one of three items needed for the next door. But when we arrived , two were already available... imo I don't care much for figuring out a puzzle for this escape room .. cos it's so nicely done for a fright I want me and the party to just feel so engulfed in it. The third room, they used to require everyone to hold hands and then perform what they needed to do to go into the next room but they require just one person to say it .. it didn't feel as interactive this time around. I say the first part of the story was the best because it's literally dark af. I miss uncle bill as the last actor was like 6'4 and I was scared as hell. Lol but this time the Zoe who was so great was not as scary ... putting her hair over her face would' be a better thing to do . We saw too much of the actress and she looked so sweet... which is a compliment ! But in this type of environment a grudge or ring like ghost like I experienced years back was so dang scary. Also they used to do strobe lights son you could see hints of the actors and the light given used to be remote controlled. I remember the dirst time we were like "dude the light doesn't work!'" And that's when things popped off but that part isn't in the experience anymore . Lastly, I think the story should be told in the room where we all gather and merchandise are sold. The introduction of the actors and actresses broke the third wall and left the element of surprise out. The last time I did it, we had no idea what was gonna happen. I kinna prefer that .. not to hear the voices of the actresses cos it seems too knotts scary farm for me which is pg13. I know the review seems critical but overall my party did enjoy their time . I just think these are things to consider to really get people scared especially since the difficulty of the puzzles aren't that hard than they should make it 10x scarier!! read more

Last night we did The Last Experiment (a group of 4). It was an absolute blast. From the very beginning, the game master was in character and made the experience totally immersive! The game is a little creepy and will have you startled at some points. It wasn't TOO bad, but let's just say....there are parts that are adrenaline inducing ;) we started with this game because it's a prequel to their trophy game "Zoe", which is supposed to be more terrifying. My friends and I want to go back and try that one, even though we know we'll be freaking out! I've done about 10 escape rooms and this one was definitely higher quality. You can tell the people here enjoy their job and want to make it the best experience...so I totally recommend! read more

Absolutely top tier horror. The puzzles on their own aren't hard but when someone might be in the room with you... Even adding 1+1 could be a difficult task. This was beyond just an escape room. It was a combination of the puzzles and the horror involved. In a group of 6 of us you've never heard more men scream like little girls than what we did in this experience. I want to bring more people to experience this. I haven't done as many escape rooms as some people (ive only done about about 8) but this was the best escape room I've done. Absolutely horrifying. Never have I been mad that I went to an escape room... the reason I'm mad is because I can never experience this again. What an absolute rush. This is EASILY the greatest escape room I have ever been to. The design of the whole place is fantastic from the waiting room to the bathroom, there are things that set the tone. I went last night and I am still shaking. I read a lot of the reviews that said 'this is legitimately scary' and didn't think much of it. I've been to some intense waiver signing haunted houses and this ranks right among them. I was sweating the entire time. THIS IS LEGIT SCARY. But it is so incredibly fun. We got out with 8 minutes to spare, although it felt like we were in there for 2 hours... This escape room is an adrenaline rush from start to finish. I cannot recommend it enough. So fun!!! V and Shy were amazing. The scariest escape room I've gone to. Would recommend to everyone who is a horror fan.

This was my 75th room and I have been hoping to do it for a long time and finally did it this past Saturday. Arrived for one of the earlier bookings in the day and the building already looked creepy. The entrance to the place is actually in the back of the place. Nothing like a creepy back door to a place to get you in the mood. The lobby and bathrooms were also dressed up! The lobby was dark, decorated, had some scary ambiance music, and dolls everywhere. Very nice touch! Bathroom had some goodies in there too, just go to check it out. Sure I've read about it and talked to my friends who have done the room and nothing truly prepares you to what you're going to experience. Not that you want to be prepared, but it was one of the best times I've had in an escape room. Fun factor 9/10 and difficulty factor of 5/10. The room is only hard because you're playing with limited light and constantly on edge. I took 3 people who had never done an escape room and they had a great time (except for one that quit 5 minutes in, they quickly came in and grabbed her out of the room and left us to complete the room). It wasn't an all or nothing failure like other rooms. Needless to say, it is very frightening. I'm sure some people already know that there's a chalk board that tallies the amount of people that just bail on the room and after doing the room, I'm not surprised. Bring some newbies, bring some scaredy cats (a must) and have a good time. A memory for a lifetime I'm sure. I've done 75 rooms and I can't say any other room would give me a lifetime talking point. This has been by far THE BEST escape room I've ever done! I never leave yelp reviews, but I had to leave a review for Zoe. Our group was small, there was only 4 of us. Half way through the game, my brother ended up quitting. I myself thought about quitting at some point. This is the real deal. Believe me when I say this-YOU WILL GET SCARED! Your adrenaline will be sweating out your pores throughout the game. The whole crew does a great job at immersing you in the world of Zoe. The story line and production of this place is on point. My brother and sister are not fans of horror themed escape room, but we couldn't stop talking about our experience afterwards. One of the best escape rooms that I've ever experienced! Definitely different because this one focuses more on the experience and feeling fear rather than doing super difficult puzzles. "Zoe" was my ninth escape room, and I did this one with a group of six. How much you like this room will really depend on what you value in an escape room. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great. The game master was friendly and conversational, and everyone we interacted with was pleasant and happy we were there. SCARE FACTOR: Medium. I had heard from many reviews that this would be downright terrifying. There are scares to be had here, but it's honestly no worse than going through a scary maze at amusement parks during Halloween season. Imagine going through one of those haunted mazes, but there's no one behind or ahead of you and your group of friends. It'd be like that, perhaps. If I had to do this escape experience by myself then I'd definitely be more nervous about jump scares, but doing this with a group of people made this more fun and humorous than anything else. PUZZLES: Easy, but sometimes unclear. The puzzles aren't hard at all. In fact, they're pretty easy. The greatest difficulty lies in the lack of lighting, which is necessary to create the tension and atmosphere. One particular puzzle had us stumped for a long time, only for us to find out that we literally had to just wait until we were given the final puzzle piece. Another puzzle seemed to have no information on how to get the last piece, and again we had to wait until Zoe spoke to us and made it available. And then the final "key" to getting out was so easy to open that we actually had to put it back because apparently we didn't technically solve the puzzle to opening it. SCENERY/DECOR/VISUALS: Good. Not great, but still good. You're supposed to be in a house, but it really doesn't feel like a house. The furnishings and decorations work okay because it's so dark most of the time, but it quickly becomes clear that much of the "house" is sparsely furnished and decorated. Lots of writing on the walls, fake blood, dolls hanging in a few places, etc. Controlled lighting effects help to amplify the scares. FUN FACTOR: Fun! As a whole, the experience is fun as long as you go with a good group of friends who enjoy being scared. We did this with the max of six people, and at no point did we feel cramped or out of things to work on. This could even be fun with just two people, as long as both people like being scared. OVERALL: Enjoyable. Zoe really works best if you're with a group of friends that likes scares. If you and your friends enjoy the scary maze offerings at amusement parks during Halloween season, then you'll enjoy this. It's not really any scarier than those mazes, and you get the added bonus of trying to solve puzzles and getting more interactions with the scare actors. However, if story and good puzzles are more important to you, just keep Zoe on the back burner. read more

Ok so let me start off by saying I do not like escape rooms, but I was convinced by my siblings to come. I do not like being scared, im just one of those people. However this escape room was very fun. There was a story line and you actually had to escape from room to room, and the puzzles weren't impossible to solve so you get to actually enjoy the game. This was my second escape room, but my first horror experience and I'm proud to say... I survived! I was definitely the most hesitant one in my group and didn't want to book this room at first, but in the end looking back it wasn't as bad as I anticipated. The "Zoe" room has a series of different rooms you go through with easy to medium leveled puzzles to solve. The real challenge was trying to figure out how to escape each room as live actors are pounding on doors, screams are playing through the speakers, and you're forced to read clues by candlelight! We all had a good experience and finished with 9 minutes to spare. I would recommended if you're trying to go for the horror aspect, but if you're looking for a challenging escape room with a lot of puzzles to solve then you might want to look somewhere else. read more

So should you go here? I'd say 'most likely a yes'-- it's a good experience in its own way. It's entertaining, especially if you have time to kill. But be aware: go with a small group (2-4) so everyone can see the puzzles and gets to be part of the experience; you'll be in pitch black darkness about 75% of the time; come in gear to protect your limbs and be aware that you'll be running into stuff half the time. You may get injured. The spookiness factor is around a 7 or 8 (on a scale of 1-10), with jumps and scares around every turn. Especially if you scare easy. It's fun, just not the best I've been to in terms of scary escape rooms. Here's why: My 5 friends and I have done dozens of escape rooms and we were very excited to try this one after reading that Escape Authority wrote such a rave review about it. We expected super scary and got decent frights, but they were not as extreme as we were lead to believe. It turns out to be more of a haunted house with decent sets than an escape room-- they put more time into the set than the overall puzzles and experience, in my opinion. I'll try and explain why without giving anything away-- because don't get me wrong: it was a neat room. But definitely not as good as we thought it would be... To start: the place is very dark, which adds to the ambiance. It's pretty nerve-wracking in many ways and cases. However, it's SO dark with extremely limited light sources (some which were not working or were destroyed at some point by things that were out of our control...) that we were literally bumping into each other and tripping over things in the room. There were a lot of sharp edges and corners to have light as dismal as this. At one point, one of the actors slammed a door shut so close to one of our member's fingers that he almost took them off, which caused more irritation than fright. We are rushed from here to there for specific reasons, leaving us all to push and shove and trip over everything in the complete dark. Near the end, a trip through a specific area of the room, which is incredibly ill thought out, caused me to bang my ankle on a sharp metal covered edge upon exit because, instead of a slide or ramp, it was a straight 3-foot drop with a pathetic mat to catch us as we rushed onward. In complete darkness. My ankle is badly bruised (I limped home that night) and even after a week and a half it's recovering-- I can't wear any shoes that go over that area because of the pain...we left this escape room covered in bruises and scrapes. Second: The puzzles are extremely few and linear. The puzzles tend to be in small areas where there's not a lot of room for multiple heads checking out the puzzle. There are multiple clues without us asking for them. The worst part: many of the puzzles, while connected by themes, have few clues that lead to how to solve them-- at least, not clues that you can find considering how very VERY dark it is in here. These factors lead to most of the party being left without anything to do but stand in the dark with their hands in their pockets, irritated because they have no idea what the puzzle is much less what the solution was (which draws from the experience). Additionally, it's kind of annoying to keep getting clues without asking. I get that it's atmosphere, but that can be achieved in different ways. Third: Oh dear God, their bathroom. Was it part of the 'scary' theme to have the toilet clogged and overflowing? This is a huge pet peeve of mine-- dirty, disfunctional bathrooms... My opinion is one in many-- go, experience and make up your own. The people are nice, into their jobs and that's an a-ok experience in my book. read more

The best part is the experience of live actors helping add to the terror (which I did not experience in previous rooms). The live acting on top of the improve was genuine and authentic. Everyone brought their own style and kept us on our toes! I've done many escape rooms and this one really stands out. The emphasis is more on the horror experience rather than trying to solve difficult clues. The actors did an amazing job with their scare tactics! You can try to avoid them as much as you want, but you'll definitely be touched at least once. Luckily for me I was part of a decently sized group so I was able to avoid a lot of the creepy ankle grabbing by backing into a corner and using my bf as a shield :X Highly recommended for all you escape room junkies out there. read more

Not for the faint of heart. I'm not much of a horror fan actually; I'm not a fan at all. Not sure why I agreed to do this room with friends but I've never turned down an invitation. I walked out on my group as soon as the game started, didn't even get to the first puzzle. Little bit disappointed as I've done plenty of rooms before; a newbie I was not. Great production value and the game host was very professional. The experience went from 0-100 right away. No time to get comfortable with a scary situation. Even the bathroom and waiting room didn't set you at ease. I'm glad other people here enjoyed the room and was able to get out. But I and the others who don't like that adrenaline rush of fear ; you'll be experiencing a ton of anxiety. I give 5 stars for this company creating a great escape room in horror. The best escape room I've done. The atmosphere is beyond an A+... it easily lives in it's own new category of immersion. You are dropped into a high octane horror movie situation with brilliant technical & emotional trickery designed to freak you out. Thus, while in the depths of adrenaline and fear, you have to solve suspenseful (and story based) puzzles before time run out. This place is known for freaking people out so bad that they quit. I can see why. My friends and I must be crazy, disgusting humans because we enjoyed the crap out of all the nightmarish ongoings (and boy does it get DARK in every sense of the word) and dread inducing moments. It's a ridiculously fun, challenging, awe-inspiring adventure everybody should try before they die. read more
