    Weeping Witch

We did Weeping Witch and our game master was Liv!! She was outstanding. It's so hard to find an escape room with a live actor. This venue had high reviews and it lived up to it. Weeping Witch was probably the scariest escape room I've ever done and we were surprised that we escaped with THREE SECONDS left. lmao. Highly recommend pushing your limits and trying out this room! Impressive and creative puzzles that were very interactive. Thank you again, Liv for creating such a spooky and immersive environment!! Memories were made!!

The Weeping Witch escape room has been on our list to try for a while. We've done around sixty escape rooms, but so far we haven't tried any rooms with a live actor due to a little bit of fear factor. Recently, we were chatting with our game master at another escape room, and they mentioned that The Weeping Witch was a good first room to try with a live actor. With those comments, we went ahead and booked it a few weeks later. Cross Roads Escape Games is easy to find. It's located on a corner in an industrial area and is well marked. There is plenty of parking. The waiting area is spacious, and there is an additional larger waiting room for overflow. There are lockers by the front door to store your belongings. Waivers must be completed in person by scanning a QR code when you arrive, so don't be late. We arrived before our friends, so we chatted a bit with David who would be our game master. Once our friends arrived, we watched an introductory video and entered the room in single file. All parts of the overall experience are pretty dimly lit, and there is definitely a spooky vibe. This was definitely a great introduction to a live-actor room, since the live actor only appears periodically, and you have a hint as to when they are coming. The room has a mix of linear and non-linear puzzles, and we split up at times to conquer different parts of the room. There is a good mix of combo locks, a few key locks, and a lot of great original mechanical puzzles. There are also parts where the whole team must participate together. The clue system is very original, and you must have a certain skill to obtain hints. One person will have to do a little crawling. This was definitely one of the harder rooms we have done. David mentioned that this room only has a 30% escape rate, and we finished with only five seconds left. They do not give extra time even if you are close since the ending is pretty dramatic and is all automated. Bring your A-game! David was an excellent game master. We enjoyed chatting with him both before and after the room. He added some comedic relief via the clue system in an otherwise spooky room. He gave us a few well timed nudges as the clock was ticking quickly, helping us escape with the narrowest of margins. For such a great room, it is very reasonably priced at a flat rate of only $42 per person. This room was probably in our top three of all time. Highly recommended!

First time here. Such an exhilarating experience in the Hex room. I think this is one of my top escape room experiences. Mina was also super sweet, lively, encouraging, knew her ish very well, and so many great things. Wish there were small snacks like granola bars or jerky to purchase but overall, my experience was amazing. I walked in the building feeling "whatever " but with each minute that passed, and with more info that I was given, I got more and more excited. I drove 2.5 hours away but hope I can go back soon.

Love all the escape room at this place! I've done all three of them and can't give more glowing reviews. David was an amazing game master. I love his witty comments and back and forth interactions. Most game masters would only respond if you want a hint, but in weeping witch I appreciate his quick witted responses and commentary to add a little humor into the already scary room. All rooms are pretty non-linear. Funhouse is a non-scary, circus magician theme. Weeping Witch is a horror, actor supernatural room. Hex room is a horror, multi-character & teamwork room. All unique, interesting puzzles and makes you really do a double take to get through the tasks! Wish I can do them all over again!

Had a blast but this room was a toughie for sure. Would definitely recommend this place did all three rooms now 2 successful and now 1 loss Mina was a great gamemaster! She scared my sisters boyfriend who is turned away from the camera lol 10/10 would recommend.

    We BARELY made it out!

Just finished Weeping Witch with my family (of 5) and it was terrifying, challenging, and fun all wrapped up into one great game! It had many surprising and scary elements with a set that was incredibly immersive! Our GM Mina helped create such a realistic atmosphere that we were laughing one minute and screaming the next. Weeping Witch should be on everyone's Escape Room Bucket List!

Ask the Community - Cross Roads Escape Games

Is there any crawling in The Hex Room?

One of the rooms requires crawling to get out, the other 5 do not

Do you have appropriate escape rooms for 11 year old girls?

Yes! The Fun House is for all ages with two difficulty levels you can choose from: Kids (best for ages 8-13), and Adults. You can learn more about The Fun House here: https://crossroadsescapegames.com/the-fun-house/

Is there live actors in the Hex?

There are no actors inside The Hex Room.

    Can you film?

Filming and/ or photography is prohibited inside our games. We do allow teams to take a group photo after the game in designated areas.

I have 9 people for Hex room , it says you may be separated into smaller groups in different rooms . Do these games take place consecutively then?

No, not consecutive games--it's still one single, the same game, in the same 60 minutes. In Hex Room, ideally, you will play with 6 people total, no more, no less. And everyone is placed in their respective "characters room". Now if you have more,… Read more

Which is better the psych ward or the hex room?

Do you have to have more than two people to play? If you don't do they put you with random people?

Our games are private, so we will never group your team with strangers. The Hex Room and Psych Ward both require at least 5 players for the game to function. The Fun House requires a minimum of 4 tickets purchased to reserve your game, although it… Read more

Very excited for Psych Ward. When is the release date and can we pre-book for Halloween?

I got an email saying "The Psych Ward opens this October!...Be on the lookout for an email coming soon with ticket information" I would recommend signing up for their email list if you haven't already. We are pumped for it as well!

Are there actors inside the room that will chase you, scare you, etc?

    Nope!

Can any of these escape rooms be done with three people?

The funhouse can but it's more helpful and fun with more people.

    Are there any jump scares?

No. When you first go in it is dark and you are guided inside wearing a blindfold but it's not that scary.

I almost booked online but ended up calling because I had some specific questions, and she made it easy to book and pay over the phone. On the day we booked, Chad was our host and he was super energetic and brought all the right vibes. We had 8 people in our group and we did the Vendetta 80s room. Two people in our group hadn't done an escape room before, one person had done a few and most of us had only done one prior, so a fairly diverse group. Chad was great at explaining the rules and also giving the group a few tips and pointers. He also offered free water bottles to my team. The Vendetta room was really fun. As he described it, it was a little more old school in terms of puzzles, meaning not super techy like some other rooms can be. But the challenges were really fun, and in our opinion, pretty challenging! In this room you are in an old 80s store front, fighting the villain action figures to find and save the super hero's and good guys. Each of us kind of found our strengths in puzzle solving and we finished right on the dot, finding all 15 figures. Lots of old music, action figures, baseball cards, books, toys, legos, and laser beams. The magic 8 ball was the death of me, shake it really well!! But anyway, I digress My team had a great time and got to take some fun pictures at the end with 80s props. Chad even asked us if we wanted to take a sneak peek of the Olympus room afterward. It looked super cool and was definitely different than Vendetta, a lot more tech, and we may be back for a future outing to try it out! Definitely recommend this gem for a team bonding experience, or even just a group of friends that want something new and fun to do. Chad also explained the history behind escape rooms a bit, and it was interesting to know that this was the first escape room in anaheim, and one of the first 10 in the US. It made me appreciate it even more knowing we were supporting a small business that's been around for a while. Thank you again for being a great host, Chad! We went with a group of 7 and felt it was a good amount of people given the amount of puzzles to go through. My group really enjoyed the theme and puzzles - definitely one of the harder escape rooms we've done honestly! Puzzles aren't too linear, multiple people can work on different things at the same time which was really nice to have so everyone had something they could do. Theme was on point and all the props/environment were very nice. There were a few things that were falling apart but we ended up telling our GM about it. Our GM was great! I think her name was Katie? She helped us out when we screamed for her and having unlimited hints was a great help. We really liked that the hints were displayed on the screen with the timer rather than having to hear it via speakers. It was SUPER helpful because we could read it at our own pace and also look back at it when we're in a different room. The only downside I'd say is that there was only 1 TV screen in the entire escape room so we did have to run back and forth a few times to re-read the hint. The hint didn't really leave the screen until we were either done with the puzzle or got a new hint, so it was really nice! Overall we had a great experience and barely escaped with like ~5 minutes left! It was a pretty tough one - some puzzles were more straightforward but others were a pretty tough. I did like the concepts of some puzzles and found it unique compared to what I've encountered in other escape rooms. 10/10 recommend! Definitely coming back to try out their other rooms.

Games start pretty on time, so make sure to be there with waivers signed! Also, they occasionally offer 20% off your next game once you escape the first! These games lean more on the tech side utilizing digital screens, electronic doors/buttons, lights, and puzzles - all of which I love! It adds more flavor to the game, while still providing the traditional puzzles feel with some rooms having locks, ropes, and mind-tingling puzzles. I would venture to say I like having more physical handheld clues like papers or props for decoding, but this place does get the job done. Some of the puzzles even require you to work simultaneously with your escape room team which creates more thrill! I have had friends that have gone here to the same rooms I have done where the rooms are slightly changed depending on the amount of people in the room or if the tech is broken - so just be aware that your experience could be different than others. For the price of about $42 a person you can't go wrong since there are multiple options that vary in difficulty from 3/10 to 9/10. Overall would recommend especially for a quick fun nigh

Almost all of Escapade Games' rooms have a horror element and are obviously targeted towards the colleges nearby, but not only was Rockin' adapted to accommodate parties of two; for this season, it was themed to fit the holidays. We also got a very pleasant surprise when it came time to pay for our online reservation: it was half the price of a standard room for a party of 8! This was a (happy) shock because we are used to paying for 3 or 4, even though we are a duo. The 2025 Pineapple Express had slowed to a steady trickle by the time we arrived at Escapade Games Christmas Eve after a music-less British pub lunch less than a two-minute drive away. The cavernous restrooms, located outside the lobby, were clean, and the lobby looked like it was in the midst of some renovation, but another game was going on, and since we already filled out our waivers, we settled down to wait for our game to start. And waited. And waited. And waited. When we finally started our hour-long game, after the technical difficulties were resolved and the game rules reminders given, all was forgiven very fast: as a bonus to playing a game that was getting ready to be put out of commission, we could take unlimited photos in the room! And there was so much to do in the music-themed room: even though not all the instruments were playable, and there were still minor glitches as we were playing, Joey was a terrific game host - he, too, made a quick recovery from the technical issues and was as determined as we were to have a phenomenal game. There was no timer in the room, but going by our photos, we were done in 52:48, with a lot of help. Our favourite puzzles had to do with the picks and bands, and playing the instruments to rise back up to the top of the pops as rockstars is such an original theme. The music played put us in the holiday mood - especially "The 12 Days of Christmas". That's probably not our favourite Christmas song, but it helped that I just got done with Susan Stokes-Chapman's holiday short story collection! Rockin' around the Christmas Tree is set to what we consider 3-G (Generation 3, with a lot of computer FX elements) tasks with G-1 locks, and, despite the late start, was very much the best Christmas present to set us off on our holidays! Joey, our heroic gamemaster, was a huge part of the fun game we had. We could tell he had started off not having such a good Christmas because the room's serious technical issues were clearly unexpected, but he fixed everything so that we could have a great time. We eventually realized the fantastic price we paid was not just because our game, unlike other Escapade rooms, did not feature a live actor in the room. Even more importantly, we only found out, after our game, that the room was being taken down to make way for a three-room movie-based horror adventure. We are so, so glad that we got to experience Rockin' around the Christmas Tree before it was dismantled, and keep our fingers crossed it gets a spectacular comeback in the near future (like the rockstars we were supposed to be!) That said, we are looking forward to checking out anything else Escapade Games has to offer - can't wait for more games in 2026! This review is duplicated on Yelp and Google.
