Escape Campervans EXCEEDED my expectations by far! The van was clean, comfortable (seats, bed and table), the sink - fridge - and burner worked perfectly, and the staff at the Seattle location (shout out to Joel!) was super helpful. Customer service before I booked was great as well. They quickly answered all my questions. You can tell this company is committed to quality product and helping you create a memorable trip. I also loved the email list with tips and ideas. They really cover it all! The van had 220,000 miles on it but ran like a gem so clearly serviced regularly. Great visibility in the windows (no real blind spots while driving) and the turning radius of the maverick wasn't bad at all. If you go over mileage, the fees didn't kill you either. 10/10 recommend booking here and no they didn't beg me to write this review... I just love talking about my trip and this great van company!!!! Tip: make sure you bring an aux cord, dongle if you have an iphone and an AV car charger for your devices. You can always buy the aux cord as an extra if you need it! Don't forget to add a $5 propane tank. Finally, when returning the van, there are 2 gas stations near by... if passing the Escape Campervan property on your right, go past it to fill up. Overall we had a good experience with Escape Campervans in Seattle. We had no real issues, but think the price is too high for what you get. Our pickup / drop off was ok. We were frustrated that we had to schedule a specific pick-up time and our pick-up was pushed later in the afternoon. This disrupted our day 1 plans and were not able to complete the hike we wanted to do. The van worked well for us. Highly recommend getting the rooftop tent. The van was old. It had nearly 300,000 miles. It didn't have any modern amenities (e.g. no carplay or gps interface). They also nickle and dime you for add-ons which is frustrating. I think there are too many other private campervan rental options (e.g. Outdoorsy) at a competitive price point with modern vehicles for us to use Escape again. read more

I am an avid traveler and have never written a bad review, but Escape Campervans has the honor of having my first. Before our trip ever began I commented when I rented the van that it didn't seem very clean, especially given the current pandemic of COVID-19. The person I was renting from at Escape Campervans said he was sorry and proceeded to clean the front windshield and side mirrors. He saw me as I took no less than 10 sanitizing wipes to just to clean the steering wheel alone and they were black with dirt and said he was sorry again (I left a few of them for Paul, the manager of the Seattle location when I dropped the van off to show him). I spent the next, no less than 1/2 day, cleaning and sanitizing the van before our trip. Dirt was not going to deter me from the only social distancing vacation we felt we could take during this time for my daughter's 18th birthday. Once we left Redmond, WA we never made it out of our driveway when the van broke down with a cracked tire valve. The roadside assistance with the van was prompt and empathic to our plight and directed us to a tire shop to have it repaired. We were able to fill the tire with air and drive it approximately 10 miles (the tire deflated to 30 psi, instead of the 80 psi recommended during the drive). Clearly not drivable for very long. Once fixed, we drove another 10 miles only to have the low tire light come on again. We called the roadside assistance and again she was very nice as she directed us to another tire shop. This time it was a broken sensor. We waited for the repair. This all took the entire first day of our trip and we were not able to make it to our 1st day destination. We were still determined to make an 18th birthday vacation. Although I had not been camping in awhile, I had been an avid camper in my youth, even camping in the backcountry on the National forest land in Colorado. What we were in for though was a never ending struggle with an old vehicle (over 190k miles), which I wish I had known that before I reserved it. I have reserved vehicles all over the world and I never encountered a vehicle with this many miles. There should be some information on the website before renting about this. Some of the issues that began to surface, was that the van didn't seem to have the power to make it up the mountains to Glacier National Park and we were so afraid to go to Yellowstone, we turned back and ended our trip 3 days early. At each pass, the van strained to make it up the mountain, the windshield wipers barely worked and were not enough to clear the windshield, even when it rained lightly for a short period of time. Thank goodness we didn't encounter any storms where we really needed the windshield wipers. I fear we would have had to stop and let the rain pass the windshield wipers were so bad. We did discuss if we saw a forecast for rain, we would just stop and buy new windshield wiper blades. Also, the tank reservoir had a leak and could not be used. Only one burner worked on the 2-burner Coleman stove provided. The van could not be driven over 65 mph. I received numerous horns being directed towards me most of the trip as the speed limit was between 70/75 mph. I could continue, but I think you have the picture. I did appreciate the prompt roadside assistance and the face coverings wore by the staff upon pick-up and drop-off. I will be taking another trip soon, just not with this company. Also, this is not about money. I dropped the vehicle off 3-days early, after taking the time 1-day after we arrived home to thoroughly clean the van for the next person. I have received no discounts of my almost $2,500 rental or anything to compensate me for the inconveniences associated with this rental besides a "sorry". I write this because I don't want this to happen to someone else with their rental. Rent somewhere else. We will. read more

This trip is out off the North LasVegas location for Escape Vans On road support is nonexistent. Made a call for wind damage over a day and a half ago with no response. Previous issue before that with an engine light that took over 8 hours, call and text x 3 to finally get a text response. P.S. when we returned, they informed us if there's nothing they can do about it, they don't bother calling you back, obviously I know that now. This is the Maverick van. Outside looks great, in side clunky and loud on the road. I kept push molding back into place that kept loosening with the shaking to reduce the road noise. Who knew we'd be using plug in USB adapters that you have to jiggle to make them work? We did BLM camp one night my son was good with it but I wouldn't suggest it without some kind of camping toilet. Next time I will check roadside service before renting this type of vehicle. Nice things to say: Lots of sleeping room for two( or more) . If your flying into this location, definitely get the bedding kit and kitchen kit. The duvet is plenty warm for nighttime in the 30's. My son did all the cooking and said there was enough equipment to get the job done. He would like them to add a heat resistant rubber spatula! read more

I rented from Escape Campervans in Seattle and drove around the Olympic Peninsula -- LOVED IT! As a solo traveler who's also deaf, I love camping but don't feel secure in a tent, and this was the perfect solution. The van is well equipped with nearly everything you need for comfortable camping. It rained for 80% of my trip, so I spent a ton of time inside the van in the evenings (vs in front of a campfire in one of the chairs they supplied). I ran into an issue on my trip, but Escape took very good care of me. Highly recommend renting one of these vans instead of a rental car and hotel because of the freedom it allows for traveling around the peninsula! I'm already planning my next trip. read more

Be aware that the vans are not well maintained. When we started our trip, we had a flat tire from a cracked tire valve. The staff was accommodating to help get the tire valve fixed, however it caused us to leave a day later for our trip. The van was not well cleaned. The interior of the van seemed as though it wasn't cleaned at all. For short trips the van would probably be fine. On the other hand, the vans are old, our van had over 190k miles. On longer trips the van seems to be a bit more troublesome. read more

We had a great rental w Escape. Yes the vans may have some high miles but they are well maintained. Given some of the stories I've seen posted, I decided to ask for the report history on our van and they were kind enough to review the last dozen or so trips. Little things like needing a tail light replaced but that's it. We drove and stayed in a remote, off the grid site near Mount Ranier and camped for three nights. Loved the van. Pick up was on time and COVID proofed. We met a man returning from a 19 day trip from Seattle to Vermont. He said he had no problems at all. Remember that those most likely to post are those who had a bad experience, so posts are likely not an accurate reflection of the overall experience. I wouldn't hesitate to rent again from Escape. They were ready for us on time, super pleasant and professional. Just remember you aren't getting a brand new van. But the build design is pretty ingenious. One thing I wish I knew ahead of time: if you want to play music in the van system from an iPhone, you'll need a dongle that connects to a standard ear jack port. My sister and I rented one of the Maverick Vans for a week in Washington State. Overall the experience was great. The Van was awesome, we loved the design. It was easy to drive, back up, and park. Very spacious for the both of us inside, super comfortable bed to sleep on. The sheets smelled cleaned and freshly washed, however, the kitchen supplies were dirty and the container holding some of the kitchen supplies was really sticky and gross. They should have really scrubbed and disinfected everything especially with the current COVID-19 pandemic. Other then that it was a positive experience. We just got home from a 2 week trip starting in Seattle to San Fran. We used the campervan 90% of the trip and it was awesome. I would recommend and use them again. Both locations, Seattle and SF, were great to deal with. Greatest thing about this company is there's no hidden BS in their price or operation. I honestly can't say enough good things about Escape Campervans! We flew in from MA and our pickup was easy as can be. We were given a tour of the van as well as an Atlas, maps and other informational material. We were offered to take items from a donation bin of items that other travelers had left behind. I really enjoyed my campervan experience. I rented one to drive up from Seattle to Port Townsend for the wooden boat festival. It was very comfortable and easy to drive It had all the amenities (except for a toilet) and the check out and check in process was easy. They want you to have a good time. I will probably do this again, only I'm thinking of a longer road trip. read more
