We rented an Indie Campers RV for a 6-day, one-way road trip across the country. We specifically…read moreneeded a one-way rental, and Indie Campers was the only company we found that offered the route we needed, so unfortunately, we didn't have many options when it came to choosing a rental company. Thankfully, we did not experience any serious mechanical issues that prevented us from completing our trip, but there were a significant number of smaller maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality issues that really impacted our experience. Some of the issues we encountered: * Side window would not stay closed * Side door would not open from the outside (so inconvenient with 2 dogs) * Refrigerator door kept swinging open while driving * Refrigerator door panel fell off * Bottom refrigerator panel fell off * No windshield washer fluid * Floors were dirty when we picked up the RV * Windows were covered in greasy hand and fingerprints * Stove and countertops had not been properly cleaned * Shower curtain was ripped * Closet door handle was broken * Black water tank sensor continuously showed 3/4 full even after we emptied the tank several times * AC/coolant was leaking continuously * Roof vent leaked water into the van * Various panels and fixtures were loose or falling off For a rental that is marketed as being ready for a road trip, we expected the RV to be clean, properly maintained, and fully functional upon pickup. Instead, we spent a lot of time dealing with things that should have been addressed before the vehicle was rented to us. A more thorough inspection and cleaning process would have prevented a lot of the frustration we experienced. Overall, we made it a really positive experience and there was nothing seriously wrong with the RV. If you need a one-way rental it's a good option.

We spent over $3,400 on the small van and this is what we got!!! Also, apparently the workers at the Tacoma WA Location have all only been there a few weeks to a maximum of two months is what I was told at drop off. The condition in which our campervan was provided to us, the significant delay in receiving it, and the level of customer service we received were completely unacceptable. To begin with, we did not receive our campervan until after 6:30 PM, several hours later than expected. This significantly impacted the first day of a trip that we paid to enjoy. What made the delay even more frustrating was that the employees at the facility did not appear concerned about how long we had been waiting or the impact the delay was having on our trip. Despite having several additional hours to prepare the vehicle, the campervan was dirty and had clearly not been properly cleaned or prepared before it was given to us. Even more concerning were the sanitation issues. The gray-water tank had not been emptied from the previous renter, meaning we were given a campervan containing someone else's wastewater and ultimately had to stop during our vacation to deal with and empty waste that should have been taken care of before the vehicle was ever handed over to us. Additionally, the bathroom waste container/cassette was installed incorrectly by the employee, resulting in urine leaking inside the bathroom area. We then had to deal with cleaning and emptying another person's waste ourselves. This is not simply an inconvenience; it is an unacceptable sanitation issue. There was also a serious problem involving the heater. During our walkthrough, we specifically asked the employee whether he had turned the heater back off, and he told us that he had. We trusted what we were told. Unfortunately, he had not turned it off. We did not discover that the heater had been left running until approximately 1:00 AM. Because we had specifically asked about it and were assured that it had been turned off, we had no reason to believe it was still operating. This also resulted in our food being ruined, creating an additional expense and inconvenience during our trip. There have been several other problems with the vehicle and equipment: * The kitchen storage container provided to us has a lid that is too small for the container and will not close properly, causing its contents to spill. * The fuel tank was not completely full when the vehicle was provided to us. * The campervan was supposed to have air conditioning, yet there is no functioning A/C unit in the vehicle. What is installed on the roof appears to be only a fan. This is a significant issue because air conditioning was part of what we understood we were renting and paying for. * The overall cleanliness and preparation of the campervan were far below what should reasonably be expected from a professional rental company. We planned and paid for this trip expecting a clean, properly prepared, fully functioning campervan. Instead, we lost several hours waiting for our vehicle and then spent additional time during our vacation dealing with problems that should have been addressed before we ever received it -- including cleaning up bodily waste, emptying another customer's gray water, dealing with improperly installed equipment, replacing ruined food, and discovering that advertised/expected equipment was missing. What is particularly disappointing is that many of these problems were entirely preventable with a proper cleaning, inspection, and walkthrough before the vehicle was released. We have attempted to make the best of our vacation despite these problems, but we should not have had to spend our trip correcting sanitation, maintenance, preparation, and equipment issues that were Indie Campers' responsibility before handing us the keys. Would not recommend. We returned the RV very clean according to a checklist of items that THEY…read moreprovide and spent quite a while doing this. When I drove back I (as well as the guy inspecting the RV on return!) trapped some minor grass into the RV. However, vacuuming wasn't on their clean list, and it looked like how we got it as well, so I thought no big deal. However, when I paid they assessed a $50 cleaning fee for vacuuming. (Again - NOT on the list, and I'm pretty sure they aren't actually going to vacuum since this is the condition we got it in the first place). It seems like they will assess you the cleaning fee regardless of the condition returned in and will use any excuse they can point out. The person checking me out said it was pretty normal, which I think means that they ALWAYS charge it. So if you HAVE to rent from here, don't even bother returning it clean. Second, because we spent so much time cleaning the RV we returned it 18 minutes late, so they assessed another $50. I pointed out that I overfilled the fuel by about $25 so can we just call it even. She just said "oh thanks for the extra fuel, but no". I guess it's in their right to assess the fee for being a few minutes late, but I don't know of ANY company that will be so finicky about an 18 minute late return after a 4 day rental period - especially considering it's a $1000 rental fee. I'm just glad that we didn't get hit with a pebble that chipped the windshield because I'm sure they would have jumped at the opportunity to get a new windshield out of me! So I'm quite surprised with their business policies and have never seen high-end companies trying to operate like this and squeeze any penny they can legally get out of you after the fact. Since rental fees are $1000 a pop it makes sense to me to try and not make your customers feel like they've just gotten out of a prison shower after they leave your offices, but hey, I guess it works for them. I'll rather go somewhere else next time.

The kitchen was literally falling off the wall when we hit bumps and when we arrived at our site the key to access the bay (the area that holds all of your luggage) broke off I to the lock. Luck was on our side, as we were their first customers to enjoy their brand new 2021 36ft Reflection. We had a family of 5 (3 adults, 2 kids). The owners were very particular about the cleanliness, everything that went into the camper was sanitized. The owners provided us a hassle-free and stress-free experience. They supplied all the basic amenities from kitchenware, towels, vacuum, trash bags, seasonings, even shampoo/conditioner and hand sanitizers, all we had to bring were foods and clothes. Even more, they delivered the camper to the RV park, set it all up, taught me how to operate it, even refilled one of the empty propane tanks in the middle of our week-long stay. Their pricing is very competitive, for the services that they provided. We want to truly thank the owners for such a good memorable trip. Highly recommended!

They wouldn't give us paperwork when we left, and I've waited a month to hear back and Sydne emails me to say there is no issue with the RV, that the condition is good just a little work but clean(will post picture of just the flooor and it's filth - which until you pulled the pop-out out you couldn't see the degree of filth), and here is nothing they can do. It was a nightmare trip and the owner was supposed to call us back and every time you try to call them he's "/"away for work and his cell isn't working right now" promise to call you back...it's fraud and I promise you - look at the other reviews (wish I did) DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THS HORRIBLE BUSINESS. Well you have to decide between a coffee maker or breakfast as the coffee maker has to sit on the rickety cooktop to reach a plug. No fry pan. No salt, pepper or even a dish towel. Cleaning fee? It was filthy. Linen set? Sheets that didn't fit bed and a quilt with a stain that looked like something from the "blue goo" they use for the head. And speaking of the head - how about putting sharp edges on the floor in tight spaces for maximum injury. Want pictures? I have plenty. This is greed plain and simple. What a rip off!
