I've been here twice and the experiences were night and day. First time was a couple years ago when the parental unit couldn't find what he wanted at North Face so we impulsively came to Escape Outdoors. Not only did he find an Arc'teryx jacket he really likes, but the employee really went above and beyond to answer questions, including hopping online to get some answers. It was a really great experience to the point we went out of our way to come here again a couple weeks ago. It was awful. We were welcomed quickly by basically every employee in the store, which was 4 or 5 people. I've known my dad my entire life (harr harr) so I know what styles he's looking for and got to helping him scope out some products. We were asked if we needed help SO MANY TIMES!!! It's to the point I personally felt harassed. Need help? No, thank you. If you need a fitting room let me know. Okay, thank you. Are you guys doing well? Yes, thank you. Would you like me to hold those items while you continue to shop? No, thank you. Repeat ad nauseam. It got to the point I gave the employee the death glare and he apologized, but continued to do it anyway. OMG I would have happily walked out right then and there, but alas the parental unit was happy with his findings and ended up spending several hundred dollars. I originally was going to look in the ladies' section for some clothing for myself, but after all that? I'm never stepping foot in this store again - it's exhausting! read more

I bought a jacket here simply because it was only in stock here and nowhere else nearby. I first called and made sure the jacket was actually in stock vs just showing that online. The staff simply looked at their computer rather than checking to see if it was on the floor. Next, I went into the store and asked where it was. The staff showed me, and as I proceeded to try it on, two of them watched me the entire time. Stood by like security guards. One staff then came up to me as I was trying it on and touched the side of my breast, and armpit. I was freaked out but didn't say anything to her. I finished trying it on and bought the jacket. In route to NorthFace seeking a coat for my ever growing teenage son, we ran across Escape Outdoors. There was a little wait time to walk in as the store only permits 12 guests in a time to ensure a socially distant shopping experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of options for youth size 5 and below!!! Skip (store manager,) was extremely helpful with helping us identify my sons appropriate coat size and made even better recommendations to accommodate his what seems to his growth spurt. The proper coat for the PNW is vital, but getting help recognizing which brands are specifically designed to keep one warm and dry is even more important. Being from GA coats have never mattered to me until now. Skip yielded excellent customer service, the selection for everyone in my family was ample, and there were a variety of in store sales that we plan to purchase all outdoor gear from here moving forward; I highly recommend!! read more

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with an employee named Michael P. I heard him make multiple unprofessional comments that lead me to make this review. I found myself to be very uncomfortable in the store and almost left. He seemed to have entitled behavior and does not work well with others. I was honestly in shock about some of the comments he made to his coworkers. However, I was really impressed with the service I received from Ali on this day. I ordered a Kuhl shirt from the online store and when I received it I removed the tags and wore the shirt. While I was wearing it I noticed two spots on the front pockets that were from the manufacturer. I contacted the company and they said they cannot return it without the tags. I do not find Escape Outdoors to be that great of a store in Bellevue Square. I visited shortly after the snow storm in January as I wanted to stock up on winter goods to prepare for the next snow in Seattle. I inquired about if the store had particular items and one of the managers was pretty unfriendly. I asked if he knew how a product worked (heated snowgloves) and he said yea I know how they work. Then he just stood there and didnt say anything for a while. He followed up oh you must want me to explain how they work to you right. This was pretty rude of him. Part of being a sales associate, yet alone manager, is to anticipate guest needs, something that is clearly not of top importance to him. His casual atttiude may seem cool to others, but for his company it cost him a sale to North Face. If you want a business that is going to clearly take the time to answer questions and really know and be passionate about what they sell, go to North Face in the mall. read more

Went in and searched for clothes. It wasn't busy and I just browsed through the 20% off rack in the center of the store. The lady at the register didn't bother to look or greet us. That's fine, maybe she's busy. Until she greeted EVERY SINGLE customers that merely pass by her. I don't know whether she's racist or just feeling closer to those other white people. But I wasn't greeted while my physical position required the most attention, plus I was browsing through the clothes -- I was a potential buyer. I can't think of any reason why she wouldn't greet us. We look like rich Asian kids by the way. Conclusion is, she doesn't like us. But we were nice and didn't do anything wrong. Give you two stars cuz you don't deserve one star rating. I was hesitant ordering my Canada Goose jacket due to some of the reviews, and being an out of state customer. But I took a chance and I'm glad I did. I spoke to a helpful customer service associate at the Bellevue store to check on inventory, and matched up with the website. They had a rare color in stock of the jacket, so I thought it was too good to be true. Joe in customer Service was very helpful with making me feel comfortable ordering. So it turns out that procrastination can cost you money, and I had to learn that lesson the hard way. You see, I had received a coupon for $20 off an Escape Outdoors purchase for running a 10K race in Bellevue. That's cool and all, but I decided to wait until the last minute to redeem the voucher. More accurately, I decided to wait past the last minute, because I didn't even notice until they questioned it that the deal had already expired. I still needed a backpack and was able to get one here. They just didn't honor the coupon, so no discount for me. On the plus side, they were nice while helping me pick out a backpack to suit my needs. They also have to undergo the unbearable task of listening to the horrible music playing on the store's speakers, so props to them for that. I'm not too satisfied with my experience here, but there's nothing I can legitimately complain about. read more

I'm pretty disappointed in my experience here. My husband and I were visiting this store for the first time, interested in their selection of Patagonia and Arc'teryx. Upon entering the store, we were not welcomed by any of the employees. Instead, the older male employee followed us from rack to rack, not saying anything, just watching us. We walked in with a lululemon bag and that was it. It made us incredibly uncomfortable and made us unfortunately not want to purchase anything. We ended going across to The North Face where we were greeted and treated like guests. Please don't visit this store dressed casually or you'll be profiled by the employees. read more

Went in this business to buy a nice coat for my wife. She wanted to try the coat on in the dressing room. One person let her and she came out to show me the coat . Another sales person in a really rude tone of voice said you cannot have that coat in dressing room. Making us feel like we were trying to steal the coat. Yes, my wife ordered a coat and used my debit card for the first payment on after pay and she then was told that they changed the payments to her card, but they didn't, so the coat came and it was to small. We contacted them, they sent a return label, we sent it back, why they went into my account, and took 3 after pay payments of $114. All at one time, so we tried to talk to them and they told us a bunch of lies. Don't trust them, will not do business with them all, never. Don't use after pay, they will screw you over read more

I was in the market for a jacket. It wasn't a smooth experience. The one that I wanted was not available in stock, so we had to order it. There was a hiccup with the shipping process, so it took longer than expected to arrive. But I have to say given the circumstances, I was very impressed with how Alex, who I worked with, handle the situation. She provides world-class customer service, and genuinely cares that you're happy with your purchase. I ended up trying out two other jackets because of the shipping delay of the one I really wanted, and even after I seemed somewhat satisfied with the second one I tried, she still gave me a call and left me a voicemail to let me know that they had received the one I ordered and invited me to come back to try it. I don't know what store the other reviewers visited but it definitely wasn't this one. They were so great and helpful all staff was very courteous. Everyone was a big help. The customer service reps were friendly. I didn't like the mall itself but I would go back to this store because they had a great layout and huge selection. No dakine or burton at this location but wasn't looking for either of those. I love this store a lot. Huge selection on mens and women's side as well as clearance If your looking to spend the big bucks they carry Canada Goose brand items which are made up in the Arctic mostly for people visiting barren tundras or on expeditions to Scale mountains. Don't trust their "sales", they markup their prices above the manufacturers own website and then run a sale. For example, they charged 10% more than Arcteryx and then mark it down, so you don't really get a decent sale. Also, their return policy is a nightmare! Was sold a pair of $190 Merrill hiking boots by the salesperson on June 16th. He told me they were fantastic shoes, etc. I wore them on one hike and found them to be glorified sneakers. Lightweight, but you could feel every pebble underfoot. Not great. My feet were killing me by the end of the hike. I called and asked if I could return or exchange them. They said, "No, they are used now." I asked what can I do, they won't work for me and was told "What can I say?" Emailed their customer service and never even got a response. Well, he should have said shop at REI. I've learned my lesson. REI takes care of their customers. Escape Outdoors does not. Why would I shop anywhere but REI for my outdoor needs? read more

The only reason I didn't give this place one star is that the actual clothing it carries is pretty nice. However, prices are unforgiving and customer service seems to actively want people to not buy from their store. The store is also very poorly organized. They also carry very limited sizes (very difficult to find XS). I went in to buy a rain jacket, and found a white North Face jacket from a 30% off rack. In general, you'd expect the clothes on a 30% off rack to be 30% off, right? I think that's pretty reasonable. Apparently, that logic eludes whoever organizes this store. When I went to purchase the jacket, the saleswoman informed me that the 30% off didn't apply to the white and black colors on the rack, because they were year-round colors. There was a white jacket in a different size that was specifically marked down but the saleslady told me she couldn't give me the marked-down price for the same exact same jacket. If you don't want to give 30% off on certain colors of a jacket, then don't, but don't put them all on the same 30% off rack. The salespeople were really rude about everything. It's not worth it to even enter this store. Just go to Eddie Bauer or Macy's or even Nordstrom for better prices and much, much better customer service. read more

I have spent probably thousands of dollars at this store because of the friendly employees that always have no problem helping with my needs. The employees even remember who I am and always let me know of the great sales they are having. They may not have the widest selection for what you are looking for, but will always have the best price. I have saved a LOT of money on all of my Arcteryx gear. I really regret I bought an expensive winter jacket from this store. While buying the jacket they were extremely friendly and assured me I could return it within the prescribed number of days. I went back to return it in 3 days as I realized I need a jacket with a hood and the one I bought didn't have one.
