Since starting track, I really needed new shoes, so came to the store on a Wednesday, around 6 pm. Because of low team member counts, they had altered closing hours to 7 pm. The store was pretty empty, and I was almost immediately helped by a staff member, though this would probably vary depending on crowd size. Max lead me through the foot-scanning process that showed the size, arch, width, etc. of my foot, and gave recommendations on shoes. The workers were knowledgeable about what kinds of footwear would work for me. Shout-out to Max for being really patient with me trying out all the shoes, spikes, and socks! The shoe prices were in-line with other stores, and if you sign up for VIP you get a 10% discount. Overall, my experience was great (though again the store was not busy so this probably varies), the staff were amazing, and I'm excited to use my new shoes! read more

Went in with my husband today. We were both looking for custom insoles and new shoes. He was helped by a sales rep, Rhian, who couldn't have been less interested in helping us. She didn't even acknowledge me. She did do the foot scan for my husband but didn't have him walk on the treadmill to observe his feet. She ended up recommending a completely different kind of shoe than the one he bought there last year and couldn't explain why before he was recommended a more stabilizing shoe and now he was recommended a less stabilizing shoe. She said that can happen in young people and as they grow, their needs change. He's 59, pretty sure he's done growing. He went forward with the insoles and thought he'd try the new recommendation, but they didn't have his size. At this point Rhian went from uninterested to annoyed. I decided to ask for a different person to help me, but after an hour or so of Rhian's attitude, I wasn't interested anymore. read more

Severe Operational and Customer Service Failures in their Bellevue Store I am extremely disappointed by the indifference and lack of care demonstrated by this company, specifically at the Bellevue store. While the marketing department excels at sending dozens of emails encouraging holiday shopping, the operational execution is severely lacking. During the Thanksgiving holiday shopping period, we arrived at the Bellevue store to find a vague, handwritten note stating a late opening due to "low team member count," with no estimated time. - Operational Failure: I called the call center, was confirmed the store would open at noon, and waited accordingly. - Customer Service Failure: While waiting, the store manager approached us in the parking lot to state they wouldn't be opening "anytime soon," contradicting the confirmed information. - Accountability Failure: A follow-up call led to a 2nd, different opening time (around 12:30 PM) and a dismissive apology for the "misunderstanding" (human error). After rejecting a small monetary compensation, I requested escalation due to the complete disrespect for customer time. The call center promised a follow-up from the Head Office within 72 hours. It has now been over 144 hours, and I have received zero communication. The entire experience suggests a deep-rooted operational or cultural issue, particularly in respecting customers time and honoring promises of follow-up. read more

I recently bought new long-distance running shoes, and I needed good advice about cost/value, heel (plantar fasciitis) support, and how long to expect the shoes to last at my mileage. Gadi was my salesperson and service advisor and he spent a lot of time with me going over the different options, strengths & weaknesses, and comparative value. He also made me personalized inserts, which I didn't know were available. I've already put 50 miles or so on my new shoes, and they're working great! Has really helped my heel pain. I did have to wait a bit for Gadi's help but only because the store was so busy (Saturday morning), AND he was giving everyone this great service! 2. I stopped by for a knee support yesterday (a weekday) and again I got excellent service, and this time the store wasn't busy. Cooper helped me yesterday and in addition to making sure I found the best knee support & the right size, he also talked me out of an expensive ice sleeve that honestly I do not need and can't afford, and he also helped me find a better deal on my VIP membership. I ran 12 miles yesterday and no knee pain! Thanks so much RR Sports for the great value & selection and the store, and also for such great Service Advisors as Gadi and Cooper. Great service as many other reviewers have posted. I went early at store opening on a Sunday and luckily it wasn't crowded - they did say that it gets crazy busy on weekends. The only thing that grated a bit was this notion of "custom inserts that are free to try". They then insert it into the shoes you try so that you can feel the difference with and without it. They cost $119 (at least that was the price quoted to me) and I passed on it as the shoes I purchased itself was only $160. When I asked what they did with the "custom" inserts that people did not buy, the guy said they give it away for recycling into playground materials, etc. Something doesn't jibe here for me. If they are worth $119, they certainly can't be throw-away. I understand that they need to make money for their personalized service and this is likely how they do it - through the insoles. read more

My son was having trouble with his Brooks running shoes during summer cross country practices. He was getting bad blisters, so we went to store 116 and worked with Gadi. He was great, and offered the full service to identify issues with how he runs, etc. to determine the best shoe and also inserts for him. We still purchased Brooks, but a different style, and the insert really gives him that extra support. He said he didn't even feel his blisters while on the treadmill to try the shoes out. We waited over 30 minutes to exchange a pair of shoes because she kept spending her time checking people in vs assisting us at the cashwrap when we arrived prior to all the people she was checking in. Also Miles assisted me at the cashwrap but left and would not help my boyfriend do his exchange. Having worked retail over 30 years, this was not a great customer experience. Bought shoes in December despite a very unpleasant experience with the sales person. She was rude and seemed bothered to even help. During checkout we talked about membership and I made it very clear that I currently have their free membership (have had it for many years) and am absolutely not interested in any of their paid memberships. 6 weeks later my credit card company notified me of a suspicious charge. Lo and behold it was for a Roadrunner VIP membership that I never signed up for. After calling Roadrunner headquarters in CA, they removed the charge right away. That they fixed it quickly and without any back and forth is the only positive thing I can say about my entire experience. Exterior looked impressive but very underwhelming. Way understaffed. 2 employees to 8 customers. Everyone sitting around waiting to talk to an employee, either to check out or try different shoes. We brought my sons in for new shoes and wanted them to try a bunch of different brands which Road Runner had. Tyrell was GREAT!! He went asked my kids lots of questions about what they wanted out of their shoes and did a full evaluation including a treadmill walk. They ended up buying shoes that didn't come up on the recommendation and Tyrell didn't force us to purchase the shoes his computer came up with. He was kind, patient and informative. I don't like to downgrade a business I never actually did business with but when new customers come into the store and try to get help for 30 minutes shouldn't one of the half dozen sales clerks have said "we'll be with you right after we've finished with the customers we're helping" or something? It's nice that they pay close attention to the people they're dealing with and give them lots of time to make their selection but some system should be in place to let other people who walk in know what's going on. I didn't have to wait and went through the whole process of walking on the treadmill and digital scans of my feet. I worked through a few sneakers until I found a Brooks pair. I was sized at 10 although my right foot was sized at 9.5. I had to wait another week to receive sneakers in the color I wanted. It only took one walk to realize the shoes hurt my feet. Surprised since I was sized at the store. When I decided to send these back found out I would be charged for shipping since I wasn't a VIP. This was my first time shopping here so I wasn't wanting to sign up yet. What bothered me most was when I measured my feet at home and realized I needed a half size up. So I went back found a different pair and left. I wouldn't shop here again because it was just a bit off. My rating is really 3.5 because I did have help with that. read more

I went to REI on Saturday and spent over an hour trying on tennis shoes and pretty much all of them hurt my feet. I have metatarsalgia and something about most shoes causes sharp pain to shoot down my toes. We decided to go to Road Runner to see more options. Ian helped me through the whole process of getting my feet scanned and immediately found shoes that didn't hurt as much. He helped me make custom insoles, and I still had to try several pairs of shoes on, but later left with some Asics. He had me sign up for the VIP Family Plan which saved me money on my purchase and allowed me to return the shoes within 90 days if they didn't work, which I ended up doing. After testing the shoes on a 3-mile walk, I went back to the store 2 days later and Ian listened to my feedback and helped me return the old shoes and insoles and found me a new pair. read more

I bought a pair of shoes a couple of years ago, and was encouraged by a salesperson to enroll in the VIP program to receive discounts. What the salesperson did NOT mention is that the VIP program initially has a nominal fee, which jumps relatively quickly to a fee of $49.99 per year. That's a ripoff, and it's communicated very poorly. Clearly, this company (like many others) makes lots of money by jacking up subscription fees that people might overlook. Luckily, I saw the charge on my credit card (reaching a live person to cancel my VIP membership was a long tedious process, but that's another story). So anyway, I will NEVER buy anything from Road Runner sports and I will actively discourage anyone I know from using this store. read more

I was so excited to go to this store. I previously went to shoes and feet in bellevue. And, saw this place had more larger selection of sport shoes. parking was plenty. The store looks great the layout of all the shoes was easy to find what i was looking for. There was a few other people already there. I was not greeted as i walked in. Took me 10 mins of looking for some styles and finally there was a guy who walked around to people to check them in. after that i received a text of the waitlist notifying me i'm next in line. There was two people servicing the floor. a third female came and she finally helped me i told her my sizes and the styles i liked if she could find them for me to try on. She came back she gave me the boxes threw them down on the floor. and I said ok i'll try them on. she just left went to the next person to help. As i tried all 4 shoes they were all narrow. So i wanted to ask her or anyone to get wide size but after 5-10 mins of being ignored. I just left. After this left me wasted of time. I would never come back. Instead i went back to shoes and feet in bellevue. They may have fewer selections but their customer services in knowledge and recommendations is the best. unlike this place. I feel this place beside the plentiful parking and nice layout. Customer service is lacking and knowledge is lacking. perhaps it is different with their other locations i just don't see any reason to come back to a business that doesn't seem to want to help me find shoes that fit. You would think there would be a sign or that one of the numerous employees that saw me standing there for ten minutes, would have let me know. Came here today as my mom was looking for some good walking shoes and wanted to go somewhere where they actually knew what they were talking about and man oh man what a great experience! I thought this would be just a regular store like Big 5 or Dick's Sporting Goods but I was wrong it was much better! This was not my moms first choice she wanted to go to Dick's but I told her these people are known for shoes so let's just check them out. What a great experience! Joshua was very knowledgeable and let us know every step of the way what the process was and I'm so glad we found this place! She ended up getting two pairs of shoes. I ended up coming back and snagging me a pair too! I love that they're so knowledgeable here and really want you to get the right pair of shoes for your feet whether you're walking, running, or just out and about doing everyday life! A couple of years ago we transitioned to the Bellevue store after less stellar experiences in the Greenlake location. The staff in the Bellevue Road Runner store has always been fantastic, patient and kind. We've never felt rushed or like our sales rep was dividing attention between different customers. This really helps as our son is just getting into cross-country and having a little helpful advice from runners has been better than taking advice from mom and dad, who know nothing. This weekend we visited and worked with Sayer, who guided my wife and I through an assortment of options. My wife had a better idea of what she wanted, but I needed to go through the treadmill, scan and analysis. Sayer really knows what he's talking about! He didn't waste time trying to upsell me with inserts or higher-end shoes. He asked some questions about my preferences to narrow down choices and *boom* - we had several really good choices. Though I've been a 30 year Asics guy, I haven't been very happy with their line for the past 5 years, so he finally convinced me to try a pair of Brooks. Though the first 2-3 attempts at size just didn't work for my feet, we finally went to a larger size and *bam*, I was an instant convert. My feet feel so comfortable. My wife tried to convince me I looked fine in the Asics that were "ok", but in a color I really dislike wearing. Sayer even went to the effort to see if there were other color options in the Asics, but once he got me into the right size of Brooks, I think I've found my brand for the next 30 years.
