Gotta say, I agree with the reviews from Morty, the puzzles themselves were just not as good as some of the other escape rooms I've played. Aesthetically, super cool. But did the puzzles completely line up or was there things around you simply couldn't solve until later over and over? Simply put, it was confusing in a lot of places but that could've been just because we were bad . But April and Ni'ara were excellent cluemasters. read more

This is absolutely a CHEATING BUSINESS. they charged $ 34 per person. we spent $140 for one hour. Basically, you will be locked in a small room, and you have to find a key to unlock the room. there are some cameras in the room and a person is watching what you do. every time on the computer screen you will get some clue (the person outside writing how to find the key) . they will continue giving the clue until you find the key. But they will make sure you will find the key within an hour. because they want to cheat another group of people every hour. basically, they are playing you are just following their suggestions. you are paying $34 for their game. within one hour time they got $140 from us. there is no capital investment other than their rent. WAISTING TIME AND MONEY. THIS CHEATING MUST BE PROHIBITTED BY LAW. read more

The room was great - we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as did the other couple. Won't say too much on that front so we don't spoil it ;) The not great things that unfortunately bring this down to a four star was that we had to call to find where it was. We were on the right street, but the office building offers no signage for the Escape Room and it locked unless you get buzzed in. Would recommend signage. They also seemed just a little unorganized at the outset, but as soon as the game was started we had a great time. We would definitely come back if in this part of DC. read more

Our group arrived for the Jurassic escape room with high expectations. We knew from previous reviews to go downstairs, so the place wasn't too hard to find (but note there is no sign outside). We loved the visual and digital effects inside the room - much better than any other rooms we had done and way beyond our expectations! We ultimately did not escape the room in time. We were held up in part by a clue that (without giving anything away) we could not read/decipher because the clue was in bad shape, despite us looking for the EXACT thing the gamemaster showed us later. This was very frustrating because we were held up by a flaw in the game rather than fault of our own. We also experienced a malfunction with a part of the end of the game, despite having the code correct. Once the gamemaster showed us how to escape, the gamemaster had to reset the game three times to get this code to work - very frustrating! She said sometimes the game malfunctions, but that's not an excuse when a functioning game is what customers pay for. All in all a good room that needs to function better and have working clues to be worth the money. read more

Avoid this Escape room at all costs! Came in for an appointment, staff was being incredibly rude to us and assumed we've been there before. The main lady was talking on the phone the whole time so it was unclear whether she was giving us instruction or on the phone. Then while filing out the payment form she got mad when we asked to split the payments... begrudgingly she gave us the payment form and muttered under her breath "I'm gonna call the police" to which I responded "why?" And she stated "sorry, I'm on the phone." At this point I looked at my friends and we all agreed to leave. read more

Really impressive production values and well thought out themes. Our group did the Jurassic themed game and I was struck by the attention to detail in the setup, decor, lighting, and sound effects. It all felt very immersive - so much so that it adds a challenge to the game to think a dinosaur is about to pop in the room while you're solving a puzzle. The puzzles use a wide variety of mechanics locks, magnets, weights, colors which played to the strengths of different kinds of thinkers in the group. Two puzzles had faulty mechanics which ate up a lot of time. Twice when we asked for a clue, after back and forth on the walkie, the game master realized the puzzle was broken in our game and had to come into the room and manually open that element for us. That's usually a dealbreaker for me right away - especially if it happens twice but honestly we still had a lot of fun and the theme was really creative even though we lost. I'm still willing to give the company my money so that says a lot. read more

Went with a group of 10 and had an amazing time! We escaped! Our Clue Master was the best and the staff was very friendly. I think the Escape Room is a great idea for friends, family, or colleagues. We had the room called "The Dig" and it is based off of an Indian Jones theme. Our Clue Master helped us along the way only when needed. We liked that she would send us a clue right when we needed it but gave us time to figure it out before jumping in. We were able to escape with 3 minutes to spare. The DC location is located right across the street from Hills Country BBQ. It is walking distance from the Archives Metro Station. Super convenient to restaurants, bars, and etc for the celebrate after your team escapes! read more

A fun activity that is decently priced and great for a group! They have multiple adventure options with an attentive staff. My group managed to escape, before time was called. All of the clues are meant for something. No real red herrings. And most of the puzzles were decently challenging and some unexpected surprises. Clues were given at the behest of our staff member, but it would've been nicer if we could choose when we receive clues rather than it just appearing. The only negative was that it was confusing how to enter the premises in the first place, given that you need to punch in a code at a call box. Overall, a good experience. Our group had a total of 8 people, and I think the room was just challenging enough! We were able to finish under the 60 minute mark. And the multiple concurrent puzzles encouraged us to work together. Only downside of this place is that it's difficult to find, so definitely pay attention to the instructions in the email. read more

This is the third escape room I've done and also the worst. We did "the agency" room and it was EXTREMELY easy due to the amount of clues the moderator gave us starts from the 2nd minute we were in the room. We assume because we booked the latest slot (11pm) that the employees wanted us out so the moderator continued to give us clues just one after another without us asking. The clues eventually turned into less of clues and just instructions like "open that book" or "put this there." It made it a lot less fun and exciting than other rooms because we just expected to be told what to do every second. Overall would not recommend at the high price of $30 per person - especially with it taking us only 30 minutes to escape. There are much better escape rooms in the dc area! read more

Went with a group of 12 and we all enjoyed our experience​ there. We didn't manage​​ to escape on time, darn but we were all engaged and challenged​ by every clue​ we received​. With that one theme, we had to get through at least three rooms and that was very exhilarating​. The only issue that I had was that the clue master handed one of our friends a walkie talkie, so that way if we needed a clue or a question to ask but we're all deaf. It would've​ been nice if they had a person standing in the corner to accommodate​ for our game. But other than that, I really had a good time! read more

It was really fun! although a little difficult to find, the person who introduced the game did a really good job of explaining everything before we got started. When the game was over, he walked through and did the de-brief. Everything was great until after and the older white guy who worked in the front was extremely rude when we came out. He was yelling ay my group and speaking aggressively, rushing to take the picture, and rolled his eyes when we wanted to use the props available. I get that there was another group coming in, but they should have planned better for this. Your poor time management was not a reason to treat my staff and me the way you did! We plan on doing another escape the room as a team builder, but NEVERRRRRRR again at this location!!! read more

We managed to scramble up a group of ten of us to participate. We really had no idea what to expect, but as soon as we arrived we were given the run down of how things were going to procede. The whole experience was exhilarating and challenging. With each clue we became more excited, engaged and even more determined to escape the room. We did escape, with almost 15 minutes to spare. Immediately there was cheering and celebrating. We learned that the clues change frequently, and that there are rooms with different themes. Some rooms are only around for a limited time, so this is not one time experience. We are already planning our next escape!! read more

What I will say is that this escape room did a great job on safety. They asked us to sanitize our hands prior to getting in the room and the game master remained 6 ft away at all times. I tried what appeared to be (from reviews) the highest rated room "Jurassic Escape". I will say, this room was well designed. There was a lot of planning that went into the room when it came to decor. The clues itself? Not so much. Without giving to much away, the room has no clues written anywhere (which can be successfully done, I have been a few rooms where the room itself had no written clues and it was wonderfully immersive and well done, this did not meet that expectation). The puzzles themselves didn't really make sense and I feel like they were an after thought to the room decor. Once you get something you have to figure out something else without another clue leading you on what to do. The hints were given to us by the game master, without asking. I've done 30+ Escape rooms, having the hints pop up unwarranted took a lot away from the experience. It didn't feel like we figured anything out ourselves and left me disappointed with the whole game. It got to a point where we started to ignore the clues but the game master was persistent with the dinging noise to get our attention. It was pretty pricey for the quality so that also contributed to my disappointment. If you are a seasoned escape roomer, I'd suggest skipping this one. I was so excited to do it and it really did not live up to expectations. read more

We had the clues but couldn't really decipher how they added up. I gave 4 stars because it wasn't the easiest to locate. There's not sign that says Escape the Room. This place is so much fun! From the outside, it was very unsuspecting. You have to buzz in and then go to the lower level to start the fun. There are a bunch of games in front for you to play with while you wait. We did the astronaut landing room. Our group consisted of eight people. It was a lot of fun but we were all over the place! Some of us guessed parts of the game before we were supposed to and there were other times we needed a little help. Overall it was pretty cool. There are currently three rooms and there were talks about adding a fourth. read more

The Dig was a big letdown. My husband and I were on a roadtrip through DC and decided to stop by and try out this escape room after reading good reviews. We've tried several escape rooms across different cities (New York, Boston, LA, Chicago, New Haven, SF), and this unfortunately ranks near the bottom ones we tried. The overall visual effects were average, and the storyline and clues were very disjointed. Even though there were only 2 of us (for a room meant for 10 max), we felt a bit bored since sometimes there was only 1 puzzle to solve and we couldn't progress until it was solved. At one point, our game master had to actually spell out the answer for us since there was a minor malfunction with one piece and we couldn't progress further without it, which made the overall experience not as exciting. read more
