We played The Lost City on a Wednesday night at 9pm. $49.99+tax per person, the room was private with just 2 of us. In short: 2 stars for the staff interaction including the game master 4 stars for the room design 3 stars for the puzzles The staff: We only asked for 1 clue during our game and finished just a couple minutes past 30 min. The woman who helped us check in was very matter of fact and professional but not friendly. Our game master at the end was standing behind the exit door silently and startled my bf. I have never seen a less enthusiastic staff greet us after we escaped. She showed us out after asking if we have any questions about the room, gave us each a wrist band and took our pictures. What makes escape rooms fun is our enthusiasm about the puzzles and escaping and we want to feel that the staff shares the same excitement as well. The puzzles: The room looked nice and props are good but there were a couple red herrings in the room that distracted us. The two of us have done several Red Door escape rooms together before and this was too easy especially since this chain is more expensive than Red Door. I did not think Lost City was worth what we paid for given the difficulty and number of puzzles in the room. We will not likely come back to do other puzzles because of this experience. read more

The game team they was supposed to watch is did not and kept giving us hints doe things that we had already completed. It wasted a significant amount of our time. Then two major games did not open even thought we did it right and checked it many times. So we started to second guess ourselves and try different solutions which also lost a bunch of time. This location of Escapology is on the 2nd floor of Stonestown on the far end right next to the Regal movie theater, and above the Whole Foods. You're expected to show up ten minutes before your session time, and parking for Stonestown is typically annoying no matter when you come, so aim to arrive sooner. Escapology is a pricier escape room experience (about $50/pp), but the room designs are impressive, they utilize different forms of puzzles and technology, and they offer a variety of themed rooms. Additionally, your experience is private (random people can't join you during the time you booked). Currently, the Monday to Wednesday sessions are $5 cheaper, and they run promotions from time to time if you check their social media or are on their mailing list. For reference, I've paid between $30-40/pp after using discounts and cheaper weekdays. When you check in, you need to sign an online waiver (you can do this preemptively at home as well, and you need to redo this if you do future bookings). You then sit in their fancy lounge until your room is ready, and you can refresh yourself with some chilled water and do some brain teasers to prepare. They have a bin inside for you to put your stuff in, though it's a bit small if you have multiple people with bags. As usual, you can't use your phone for anything, and no pictures of the room either even after you've finished. You are required to pay attention to the introductory videos (one of how to play/rules, one roleplay that sets up the story for your room). You are given a reusable writing pad and a flashlight that may double as a black light. Your game master is watching the entire time, so you can raise your hand and ask for clues whenever you want; you'll be given a clue automatically if you're taking too long on something. We were definitely given multiple hints throughout our experiences, but it didn't detract from our time. I think perhaps they cater it per party, depending on what you want. I've done the Lost City and Scooby Doo rooms, which are considered the "easiest" rooms. If you ask the staff for a difficulty list, they say they don't list that because difficulty is really subjective, but they did have a staff difficulty recommendation list at this location. From the two rooms I did, I can see the differences and can see why some things would be harder for different people. For Lost City, it truly felt like I was in an Indiana Jones type of environment and was impressed by the level of ambience and detail in the rooms and props. I think the ending was very anticlimactic, and the difficult part of this room was in the middle. We completed this with seconds to spare as a team of two. For Scooby Doo, the theming was cute though a bit too cartoonish, and surprisingly spooky as the series is. It utilized a lot more digital displays than I expected, and the tough part was at the very end, though we were tired at that point and spoiled after having an easy time at getting through the first set of puzzles. We were given a lot of hints at the end and escaped again by just asking for the answer as a team of four, as we had spent a lot of time trying to piece something together that just wasn't working. I think there was a mechanical error in the middle of our run that cut into our time that our game moderator didn't realize. For the puzzles throughout the rooms, they used a lot of techniques ranging from solving things literally, cryptography, anagrams, message revealing, logical deduction, looking for patterns or things that matched, physical interaction, putting things in correct order, with a couple annoying red herrings (I have a problem with reading too much into things). I wish there was a little more feedback on when a puzzle was solved, as sometimes something would open silently. Other times, you'd hear a loud bang from an object falling, so it was inconsistent. At the end, you get a code that you can use to sign up for another escape room booking for 20% off if you book within a month. You also get a silicone wristband exclusive to the escape room you did as a cute souvenir, which was a unique touch I really liked. I think Escapology is a great option for escape rooms because they cater to the players and focus on making the experience great over just providing a challenge. Additionally, the cleanliness and detail in the rooms were amazing. read more

We were attracted by this Escape Room because of it's convenient location and most importantly, the option of kid friendly escape rooms. Younger kids just need one adult to "chaperone/supervise" the group. We had two groups. One group was in the pirate room and the other in the Scooby Doo room. Thank you Serena and Sofia for helping make my daughter's party memorable! Rooms of improvement: I wish we were able to watch a live feed of our kids trying to figure out the puzzles. Had a great time successfully escaping the Scooby-Doo room with friends. We were a group of 5 and it was so fun working together through the room. We ended up needing about 5 hints but escaped with 5 minutes to spare. The clues were good and well thought out. The staff member said it was an intermediate room, and seemed spot on afterwards. So much fun for kids and adults! We went to Escapology at Stonestown last night with a big group--my kids plus nephews and nieces, all between ages 7 and 12--and it was an absolute blast. We did the Murder Mansion room using Kids Mode, and honestly, I was impressed. It was still challenging enough to keep everyone engaged, but not so hard that the kids got frustrated. Watching them collaborate, problem-solve, and get genuinely excited when clues clicked was the best part. And yes--we actually escaped! Most importantly, every single kid had an amazing time. On the way home (and again this morning), they kept asking when we can go back. That's the real five-star test. This spot is located on the 2nd floor of Stonestown. First, we checked in with the front desk. Then, we signed an online waiver on the tablets. Next, we sat and waited in the lounge area until we were called. After a couple minutes, the same employee led us to our room and explained the rules. My friend booked "Who Stole Mona?", and this took place in one room. The game master is watching your every move. For example, one friend decided to start exploring the room while the introductory video was playing and he was warned that time would be taken off it he didn't pay attention. When we struggled with a particular puzzle, we'd receive a hint on the screen. It was my first time doing an escape room, and this was a great first experience! I loved how there was a mix of puzzles (locks, numbers, words) and reveals. Nothing seemed cheesy and we were immersed in the experience. The three of us managed to retrieve the Mona Lisa with seconds to spare *whew* Side notes: 1.) No pictures/videos allowed inside. 2.) There was a bin inside the room for us to put our stuff. 3.) Free parking in the Stonestown lot: It was packed on the Sunday we went. *Verdict: We had such a great experience, and I'd love to come back and try the other rooms! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect for our room (which was 7 Deadly Sins), but with escape rooms you honestly never know what to expect. We had Ashlee (I'm pretty sure) and she was a great game master! She was patient with our group and laughed at some jokes we were making. Typically with escape rooms some of the props looked cheap but our room was so well designed and it really challenged 5 brains to work hard. Although we didn't get unlimited hints, we were able to get "nudges" if we were going in the completely wrong direction. This is a nice feature granted I know so many people who do escape rooms and care about time so the consequences of using more than 3 hints were fair. This escape room is also located inside Stonestown Mall and I always find it if-y to do any activity in a mall, but their waiting room was clean, they had a water station, and their background for group pictures were high-quality. 3.5/5 for the Mansion room, overall experience rounding up to 4/5! Absolutely loved the decor of the entire place--they really go all out with the waiting room decor to truly immerse you in the experience. I've been to other places where you're entering a warehouse so it takes a bit more creativity to get your head in the game. My main gripe with the mansion room: the puzzles were a bit "gotcha"-y and didn't really feel like it had any relevance or sequence. I wasn't sure why I was really putting this code in that part or why this would translate to that. It felt like gimmicks and cool puzzles, but whenever figuring out what code went where, it was a little random. There were only a handful of clues that weren't as random, but other puzzles weren't really that thematic. Eh. Additionally, there were no sound cues to let us know that something happened. Doors opened, but we were stuck because there were no clicks or spring noises indicating where something became unlocked. I can tell people have been rough with some of the items in the room... I got stuck on a clue because I was told to be gentle with something in particular, but turns out it was sticky and needed more force. The rooms are a bit darker, making things hard to read, especially with small print/cursive fonts. I would ask for hints because I couldn't read the tiny print in a dark room, and the hint would just be what I had to read on the paper. They do offer a flashlight, but having a central spotlight that I have to keep turning in order to read something also got frustrating. At the end of the puzzle, I didn't feel satisfied with the ending... maybe because I was stuck on questioning where the continuation of the story was. It felt like the room wasn't so much about the story--it was about solving random puzzles. Also, I couldn't find online what the difficulty of each room was. Turns out, I booked a slightly more difficult room (relative to the other rooms) for two people, which was fine, we escaped, but I'd like to know that before booking. What I like about this place is that they have very unique themes! The reason why I chose the mansion one was because it was a bit more cliche, so I wanted it to be my gauge. I'd come back here to try other rooms for sure. Maybe a less cliche theme will be more exciting? I can also appreciate the staff--very kind people, no grumpiness, no rushing, full of energy. They offer a 20% off discount code immediately, unlike other escape rooms that offer it if you prepay the booking. Appreciate that as well. read more

Our party had 5/7 who have never done an escape room and our party can also be considered difficult with those not knowing the rules and etiquette. The escape rooms themselves are excellent. Well-designed, immersive, and genuinely fun. On that front alone, this would easily be a 5-star experience. Where things fall apart is the marketing and checkout process. We received a card for 20% off, then saw a promotion offering a $100 gift card with a free $25 bonus. What's not clearly stated upfront is that you can't use the $125 together, and you also can't combine a gift card with the 20% discount. That information only appears AFTER purchase, buried in fine print. This felt like a scam to make you spend as much money upfront, only to find out that you can't combine these (if that's the case, most offers have the "fine print" details readily available *before* you purchase). It left a bad taste after an otherwise great experience. A little more transparency would go a long way here. I'd happily come back for the rooms, but I'd be much more cautious about purchasing anything online again. read more

We were a group of 2 trying out the Scooby Doo room. The theme and concept are both cute, but the experience fell short. A lot of the puzzles and trap doors felt glitchy. In other escape rooms, it's very obvious when an action successfully opens up something else (I.e. a door, hidden drawer). We missed it several times in this room and the game master had to flat out tell us that something had happened. There were also puzzles that were not intuitive and there would have been no logical way to solve it without the game master nudging us in the right direction. A lot of time was lost due to these shortcomings. The waiting area is nice (the best one I've been to) and the staff members are friendly. Parking is easy since it's part of a mall. May consider checking out another room if we happen to be nearby. read more

First escape room experience! I tagged along with my kids and niece who are in their teens, we booked Mansion Murder. I really like the moody and dramatic waiting area. Our escape room was nicely decorated and greeters very friendly... we needed a LOT of clues. Or, rather, I needed a lot of clues. My kids/niece were fine and without them I would probably still be stuck in the room. I found it very challenging, nothing really made sense but I think I approached it the wrong way. I tried looking for hidden compartments, etc instead of trying to solve the riddle. My kids took over while I entertained myself pushing random buttons. We all had fun and they would love to return to try a different escape room. The location is so convenient: we were able to have dinner, return clothing, buy groceries, purchase movie tickets and finished with the escape room. read more

I booked two rooms for two groups of 7 on a Sunday afternoon and the staff were very quick to get back to my email inquiry. Upon arrival, we were quickly sorted to our rooms after signing our waivers. Evelyn was very helpful in answering any questions I had about booking times and managing such a large group as mine. Of the two rooms, I was assigned to the "Who Stole Mona?" (Intermediate level) escape room which had colorful and well hidden puzzles. I liked the new and innovative mechanics they had. While I won't spoil the puzzle, the maneuvers and pop-up mechanics of he room itself built up to the fun of it. While I think 60 minutes sounds like enough time, I think I would definitely need more time if I didn't have the help of my friends, Lol. After we were done, we took a photo, overall good experience and I like the convenience of the location being inside Stonestown. read more

My group tried the Batman game with a Groupon. We had 7 people in my group and won with 4 minutes to spare! The puzzles and questions were difficult but we had free 3 hints to use without time penalty. All additional hints cost 2 minutes. It was disappointing that they don't let you take any photos of the actual Batman room, not even a group photo in front. They don't provide any group photos or props to show that you won, but gives everyone a regular wristband that says Batman at the end. read more
