Escondido Auto Tech was given the challenge of smogging our 96 Honda Accord w 210,000 mi that would not pass due to some incomplete "Self Tests". Two previous smog stations told us to "drive it". After about 800 mi and no pass possible, Jim and Frank and their team figured out why! During recent radio theft, the thief cut some wire that also fed the lifeblood energy to the ECM (auto computer lingo). I wouldn't normally bother to review an auto repair shop but am doing so because I'm impressed by the owner's speed of service, accommodation of my needs, and most of all his honesty. He fixed my car in one day, picked me up from my workplace, and didn't try to upsell or overcharge me. He even applied a discount of which I'd been unaware. I have been a customer of Escondido Auto Tech for decades and used them for auto repairs dozens of times. I have also asked their advice on several occasions. Always I have received prompt outstanding service at a reasonable cost. On a couple of occasions, I went in with what I thought was a problem and it turned out to be just a minor fix requiring no parts. They charged me $0 for the service. When I said you need to get something for your work, they replied it was no big deal and to forget about it. When if ever have you been treated like that at any business? There is a reason everybody gives Escondido Auto Tech 5 stars and that is because you get great service from honest professional people, who know what they are doing. There's an old saying: Good, cheap, or fast, pick two. Escondido Auto Tech ain't cheap...but they're surprisingly as close to all three as I've ever had with a mechanic. The work was done very fast, very good, diagnosed and solved, and the price was just right. Generally for a mechanic I know and trust I'm willing to pay a premium, but these guys charge well within average prices and don't really mark up the parts much. Definitely five star. EAT found and fixed the AC leak on my 2007 Nissan Titan, they only repaired what was necessary and did not try to up sell for any other repairs. They send a text with pictures of the damaged parts and where prompt with letting me know the job was complete. I would recommend them for their AC work as that is all I have experience with but I will use them in the future for other services. read more

This is an EXCELLENT auto service center and I have no hesitations in returning. My brother referred me to EAT. While they were completing my oil change, Jorge called to advise on other items needing attention, and gave us a price quote for the items. I loved the fact that he quoted items we already figured were an issue on my new (used) car. When we picked the car up, there was ZERO pressure; they told us we could call to schedule appointment whenever we were ready. First time I have been to this facility and will be back with all my auto needs! This is the only place to have diagnosed and fixed 3 warning lights constantly on for about 4 years in my 2003 Lexus SC430. Lexus dealer and 3 other shops were never able to fix and keep the lights from reappearing. They also did some other work on the car and pricing was good and they didn't try to oversell their services or pressure me to do additional maintenance items at the same time. New to the area and read the great reviews. Needed major work done when my 2000 Excursion V-10 started gushing transmission fluid. I gave them a call and had the vehicle towed to their shop. They quickly diagnosed the problem and gave me a repair quote. The work was performed flawlessly and the Excursion was back on the road very quickly. Not only were the repairs completed at less than the original estimate, they also had me pull the vehicle back in the bay so they could install some new wiper blades (as it had just started to rain). I just called to set up an appt to have my front end inspected. The rate is $110.50 just to inspect. The guy said I wouldn't be allowed in the service area while the tech performs his inspection to point out what he sees. Probably a liability issue, but definitely not a tech's tech. He quickly ended the conversation when I mentioned trying another shop, indicating he had little interest in my business. This might be a good shop, but just not one for me. read more

What I love the most is that these guys don't push you to get repairs that you may not need every time you just want an oil change. If there are repairs that you do need, they generally give me the option to wait until the next time if I can safely wait on the repair.
