We started our vacation at Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek, and while waiting we went Escudo's Bar & Grill. Even before walking in we were greeted by Chad, the manager and Bradley one of the cooks. They were so friendly that we just had to go to go in for a drink and a bite to eat. The entire resort is so beautiful and Escudo's was no difference, great view of resort. We both had their Bonnet Punch drink (see menu) they were a great way to kick off our vacation. We also got food, we experienced a new appetizer Cheesy Yuca Bites, and OMG they were awesome! Followed by Barbacoa Fajita Bowel which went great with the appetizer. The service would say was one of the best team at a bar & grill I have seen! This restaurant is located within the Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort, where we were staying. It was a mixed bag for us. The prices are a little steep, but what pissed me off the most was the automatic gratuity slapped on your bill, as with nearly every place at this resort. That is suppose to be for the customer to decide, based upon the quality of service. We purchased some dinner here and I selected the Bacon Beast Burger. This burger was well made, phat and tasted fantastic. On another day we purchased some breakfast; which was nothing special about the eggs, bacon and sausage, while the pancakes were terribly made and for the most part went uneaten. One day for lunch, we decided to stop at Escudos Restaurante Y Barra: a Mexican-themed restaurant and bar located by one of the pools. Some cocktails sounded good and the ones we ordered included "Mango Sunrise" (Altos tequila and mango puree with a drizzle of strawberry puree), the "Strawberry Daiquiri" (frozen blend of Big Storm silver rum and strawberry) and the "Shark Bite" (Bacardi Superior, Captain Morgan, blue curaçao, house sour mix, splash of lemon lime soda and grenadine"). For food, I had the "Tripletta Quesadilla" (flour tortilla filled with cheese, shredded beef, pulled pork, bacon crumbles and buzz sauce), my wife had the "Fiesta Chicken Quesadilla" (flour tortilla filled with cheese, seasoned chicken breast, black bean & corn pico de gallo), her sister had the "Spicy Chicken Sandwich" (crispy chicken tenders topped with pepper jack cheese, avocado, bacon & jalapeño ranch on a challah bun), our older son had the "Kids Cheese Quesadilla", and we ordered a plate of "Loaded Nachos" (corn tortilla chips topped with queso, black bean & corn pico de gallo, tomatoes, sour cream, cotija cheese & cilantro) for the table. My daughter and I came here for breakfast during one of the days when we stayed with Wyndham. My Captain's breakfast was pretty good, especially when I substituted for the French Toast. The bacon was a little burned however. My daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes. She wanted the waffle but they were out of it when we dined there. However, the size of the pancakes was very impressive but I feel they were too dry so it's hard to keep them today and as you cut through the pancake, it falls apart quickly. It definitely needs a lot of butter and syrup to hold it together and make it moist. The location is near the lazy river so you'll see some of the folks floating along the lazy river. read more

They do add $15 gratuity to the bill, it states so on the menu. Ordered the chip and dip to start, also asked for 2 spicy chicken wraps ilo of the chicken wrap, which is breaded with side salads with the vinaigrette dressing. I missed that the spicy chicken sandwich comes with bacon. The chips and guacamole were so-so, the guacamole is not fresh and the chips are not either. Great food poolside. I had shrimp tacos. Although the order only came with two tacos, it was very filling. Tacos had excellent flavor. My cousin ordered a chicken wrap with fries. Safe to say she enjoyed it. My cousin's husband ordered chicken quesadilla. I tried some and it was very tasty. It had a nice spice element, but it wasn't overwhelming. Later in the day I ordered chips and dips (guac and queso) for a snack for myself and group. Safe to say we devoured it. Guac and queso were both fresh and delish. Chips were good also. Arrived at the resort before rooms were ready and decided to explore the area and find someplace to watch the World Cup. This was a great spot to land and though they were changing over from breakfast to lunch, they invited us to have a seat and wait for the lunch hour to order. Drinks were a bit weak...a lot of ice and very little booze. The food was a bit overpriced but it's a resort so it's expected. The empanadas were delish! Perfect crust! Word of warning: there are olives in the meat filling. My husband loves empanadas and hates olives - he didn't even notice until I pointed it out. Our table had street tacos, quesadillas, and wings. Escudos is a very convenient pool-side Mexican bar and grill. We ate there a few times while staying at Club Wyndham. The first time was for dinner, and my husband got a veggie burrito, and I got a veggie bowl. There was nothing extremely special about either of them, but they both tasted fresh! We also both got beer which turned out to be pretty expensive, but I understand resort prices. However, the best experience was from the server named Chris. He has never met a stranger and you can tell that he really loves his job and life in general! Another time we went there for lunch after spending the morning by the pool. You can definitely get food and drinks to-go, which we saw many people doing. One time I even witnessed a customer bring the food back (wrong order), and then saw the server get the right order and personally walk it out to them pool side. I thought that was a really nice touch! We got the same food as before since those were the only vegetarian options, but this time we opted for mudslides because hello, they looked delicious (and they were). Chris wasn't working this time, but all the staff is extremely nice and prompt. It was our favorite place to eat at the resort! read more

This is the poolside restaurant and bar for the tower 4/5/6 area at the Wyndham Bonnet Creek resort. You are a captive audience and they could have made this an unpleasant experience, but Escudos was really decent. My family doesn't cook on vacation so we ate at Escudos most days that we were poolside. The quality and quantity of the food was really good. We had nachos and chicken strips several times, tacos, and drinks. Everything was overpriced but that is not anything new to either pool bars or orlando, so I won't take points off for that. To go orders were always prepared fresh and showed up at or before the stated time, usually no longer than 15 min. The frozen pool drinks (pina colada, lava flow, margarita, etc.) were very good and plenty strong enough. Service was always very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. They do add service charges (10% for togo and 15% for dine in) so you have to do extra math and try to give the staff an appropriate tip. We never made it for breakfast but the menu looked interesting. Overall I was glad it was there and I happily ate there over and over. read more

We also got the Loaded Nachos with Chorizo and Shredded Beef. Chorizo was OK, but the Beef was surprisingly juicy and seasoned well. The cheese could've come out a litter hotter. We were staying at Bonnet Creek Resort and hanging by the pool. We are not big drinkers but we were out in the sun and figured what the heck. We pulled up to the bar, ordered nachos and two frozen mudslides. There were no prices on the drinks only the food. We got menus fairly quickly but then the waiter/bartender was reconciling some tips into the system and seemed to forget us there. He was certainly friendly enough when he arrived so we let the wait go. The drinks arrived and although they looked good they were very bland. They were in a plastic cup with whipped cream and chocolate syrup but that was the extent of it. The nachos where good but nothing over the top. There was a good variety of items on it but a very watery cheese sauce. We got the bill and for two drinks and nachos was $38!!! I asked the bartender how much the drinks were and he said $13 each. He told me well we use vanilla vodka, baileys and Khalua. Yeah that's what goes in one! But holy crap, $40 bucks for a snack??? Never again. read more

The service here was horrible. Guess what? I don't blame the staff one single bit. This is run by poor management, plain and simple. We arrived on December 31st, New Year's Eve, to the resort where this restaurant/bar is located. The place is "cute," but not enough tables and chairs at all, 3 total employees waiting, serving, taking bar orders, and handling checks. We saw people pissed, people get up and leave after no employee contact for 20 minutes and more. The three employees were to be commended above and beyond. Running, sweating, TRYING to do all they could and the one gentleman behind the bar said they won't increase staff and it's always 3 people. Since we had no place to sit, we were forced to take our food to go. It took a very long time but tasted great. I am so saddened that management or the hotel itself chooses to run these people and reviews into the ground. What a great place it could be with minimal management training. read more

This place was really convenient being at the resort. We have been down here all week on a Disney vacation and had been really disappointed every where we ate. I spent way too much $$ for bad and not enough food at places. We were exhausted and still starving when we got back from Disney springs after eating a horrible $85 meal. We let the kids play in the pool and I picked up the pork tacos for my wife and I ate the smothered burrito. I know it's resort poolside restaurant food but I will say it was the best food we have ate so far too I this whole trip and the cheapest meal we had. Located in front of Tower 5 of the Wyndham Bonnet Creek grounds. On the night of our arrive day we decided to take a stroll around the lagoon and decide to eat here on our first night. For the items they serve (i.e. burgers, fries, nachos, salads, calamari appetizer, etc) it's a little on the pricey side. We didn't order anything from the kids menu, but for an adult think about $10-15 per menu item, plus whatever drink. Alcoholic beverages are of course "vacation prices" from $8+ each. We ordered the calamari appetizer, 2 burgers, 1 salad, 1 beer, 1 soda, 1 cadillac margarita, and a Irish liquor dessert latté. For 3 of us plus tip was ~$85. The calamari was good with a orange/spice dipping sauce which had an Asian flare to it. Burgers were alright, however the party was way too well for my taste and just pretty dry and took awhile to chew. I had to make sure I added enough ketchup and mustard, but at least the lettuce, tomato, red onions, and pickles were fresh and crisp to make up for the patty. Salad was good and refreshing with the the baby greens, balsamic vinaigrette, pecans, apples pieces, and goat cheese. The service was very attentive and the ladies were able to answer any questions we had about the menu items. This place is also attached to a near by pool so it's fine if you have your whole family with you. Lots of little kids would come up straight to the bar and plop down and order the fruit smoothies (with whip), what seemed to be popular with the kids. We were their from about 7:30-9pm just enjoying our food and relaxing. The later it got the busier it seemed to get since families were finally getting out of the pool and needing food before they headed back to their rooms. *Remember FOOD stops at 9:30pm, from 9:30-11pm its DRINKS ONLY.* Since this is a pretty kid friendly place it was also cool to see that they had an MC at the bar that was doing family team games like "our you smarter than a 5th grader", music jeopardy, and other little fun games. All in all I'd say this is a good place to get some food if you're at the near by pool or maybe a near-by tower. Again prices are a little expensive for the actual food they serve, but it's about average vacation prices (burger fries ~$10, etc) you're probably better off ordering a couple different appetizers and sharing with people than actually each getting your own full meals, and then ordering whatever drinks you'd like. So we have visited this little restaurant in paradise 3 times during out stay and had three different experiences. The first honestly wasn't good at all, couldn't get service but on a weekend night I mean I can't be too picky because everywhere was that way. Our second experience was breakfast which was very nice and well done, the French toast is perfect and our 10 month old could snack on it as well, it was perfectly done, the breakfast quesadilla was amazing flavor, not soggy and the pico de gallo was fresh. Our final experience was tonight (a Wednesday night) our final stay, was AMAZING and the only reason I am leaving a 5 star review. Our server/bar tender was incredible (Mike) he was so personable and energetic and handled the stress without showing what so ever, he made this place tonight!
