Last year, I hired ESD for half-a-dozen custom interior doors for my hill-side house that you can't find in your local big-box store. Each door was a 9-footer and of various width. Mary, the manager and her husband, Armen, own and operate ESD. They construct each door on-site in the their workshop that adjoins their show room. Rather than a paint-job, the doors they offer are laminated with textured wood-like material. The hinges are hidden and the door knobs are magnetic, which I still don't understand how they work. And they work. Most importantly, ESD stands by their product: even though ESD installed the doors over a year ago, Armen came over this past Sunday to trouble shoot a magnetic deadbolt that my new tenant and I could not properly lock. I was looking for high quality doors for my house. I went to many stores in San Fernando Valley. Finally I found ESD, visited the store and loved the customer service and quality and the price. I decided asked for in home quote. Armen showed up within 2-3 days, took the measurements and within a couple of days gave me a written quote. The offered price was very affordable for the quality of the doors. The doors were packaged and delivered on time. I also asked if the store can recommend an installer. We agreed on price and within days Artak was installing the doors. Exceptional job! Professional installer who completed the work in shorter time than promised. Becasuse my house was new it was settling in. So after 5-6 month 1 of the doors was not closing as smoothly as before. I went back to ESD with little hope that they would come and fix it becasue it was not the door quality or installation issue, it was the house settleing issue. Great company. Armen was great to work with. He came out and measured all my doors for a custom fit. We put the orders in and when they arrived I had them install the doors. One of the sizes was off and Armen came pick up the door personally and change the size to fit the door at no charge. I paid $9000 for my doors and i asked for a favor to bring moldings for 2 doors and they charged me $300 just for moldings and the worst part is when i asked for moldings he didnt tell me that there was a charge for it. At first they told me the installation is going to take 2 days but it took 4 days installer was ok, but its not the right way to do business when i asked for something he should've told me there was a charge for it no one ever told me that i need to pay for those 5 pcs moldings, i mean i am not against paying but they should tell you before installing it overall not satisfied read more

do not use this company! they not only did not finish the job, they did damage to pocket door handle they put in,broke our floor tile and left all the plastic (which is impossible to remove) on the doors they sloppily put in they don't tell the truth, they're rude. we paid them over 10k and they tried to race to get the job done. you see they had to get to lake tahoe for the weekend. we tried to stop partial payment to the credit card company but they deleted our comments that the job was not done on an original invoice that we signed. they whited the information out and we didn't have a copy. we had 500k work done with contractor's etc and never had any company who was so rude and never told the truth! don't use them. you will be sorry read more

I don't enjoy writing negative reviews. However, I don't like being treated both rudely, and unprofessionally, even more. Hence, this review of ESD European Style Doors. I met with Luisa, at their location, on a recent Saturday, to discuss a replacement door for my interior HVAC unit. She helped me select a wood door, based on a sample I brought with me. During my visit, she phoned Mary, the owner, who, Luisa informed me, would need to contact the factory, to check on the availability of the material, and subsequently, phone with the disposition. After several business days, with no call from Mary, I phoned the store, spoke to Mary, who apologized profusely, blaming the factory manager for not getting in touch with me. She assured me that she would determine the status, and get back to me, that very day. Well,.... not do much. To use a baseball metaphor, that's Strike #2. However, I'm not going to wait for a Third Strike. Yer Out!!, ESD. I can't abide being lied to (twice). If ESD didn't want my business (perhaps it was too small a job?), they should have been upfront and honest from the start. Dishonesty is the poorest of business practices, in my book. The good news? When it comes to an expensive investment like doors, two things are really important to me: quality of product and reliability of the vendor. I have been burned before where I couldn't track down where my doors were. For weeks couldn't get a straight answer and understand whether my project is delayed because doors were on a boat container somewhere between China and LA or they didn't even make the boat or production messed up or all of the above. None of that with ESD. First, everything is locally manufactured so lead time is so much shorter. Second, every door is manufactured to your specs. In other words, the door will fit like a glove and you don't have to worry about stability because someone took a bigger door and cut off a piece to meet your requirements. Prices were on par with those that import from outside of US. And all that topped off with regular communication: charge estimates, payment, delivery estimate, installation - everything went really smooth and new doors look amazing! The only thing I can't comment about as of yet is post-installation service but based on everything I've seen, I don't expect any hiccups. read more
