    Salad

Downtown Claremont has a vibe. This spot is supposed to have great salads. I don't experience a great salad. It was basically lettuce and a ton of cheese. The house dressing is just yuck. The service was slow-refilled one of our drinks by handing me the cup over a half way instead of walking to our table. Weird right? My mom waited an exorbitant amount of time for the chicken she ordered on top of her salad. She was most of the way finished before they finally brought it to her. I'm not a fan of this place.

This is an OK sports bar. Very large patio. Lot of screens and decent food, and drinks.

Always enjoy stopping here when I'm in the Claremont village. Good selection of food and drink. Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, always clean and staff is always great. They open at 10 am on Sunday during football season. Special menu for football as well. Having been on a chilaquiles kick, today I tried theirs for the first time. For a $12 skillet it was loaded with chops, beans, potato, egg, crema and cilantro and was quite filling. Took half home. Great deal for breakfast.

I came here with my friend and her party for her birthday because we lost our reservation for a restaurant across the street haha. The staff was very accommodating with our party of 9 and we were able to sit almost immediately. The restaurant is honestly very big! The patio sitting has a lot of space and their inside as well. For the menu, I will say that there is quite a variety to order from, but I wish they had other Mexican food options. I ordered the quesadilla appetizer as my meal and it wasn't too bad! Our waiter was also very kind and tended to our needs very well with our huge party - so thank you!

Food is tremendous. Service is at the highest of quality possible. Ambiance is amazing. Claremont Village, outdoor covered seating. Multiple tv's and Dodgers playoff game with National League Championship in our pocket! Jen is a great server. She's knowledgeable about the menu and is elite at paying attention and serving your needs! This place is a no brainer! You will not regret it!!!!!

Tuna melt with bacon and potato salad.

I was in the mood for a tuna melt with bacon, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. I wasn't in the mood for fries, so I went with the potato salad which tasted pretty good as well. Service was attentive, and refills on my iced tea were quick. This is a comfortable place for both lunch and dinner, and with the summer heat coming in, there's an outside area that's covered where I've hung out to enjoy the breeze. Compared to the average ratings for this business, my experience has been above the three stars. My minus one star comes from the chips being incredibly salty, so I pass on them most of the time. Otherwise, this place is a solid local spot for me! Cheers!

    Ask the Community - Espiau's

Are you going to bring back carnitas any time soon? I miss my favorite taquitos!! And the chile colorado / red chile? I miss my Ranchero burrito! If you brought them back, I would come more often. Maybe you could have them one or two days per week?

Are you checking for vaccination cards?

No, they are not. Only restaurants in the City of Los Angeles are enforcing, not LA County.

What is on the happy hour menu?

Do they allow dogs in the outdoor patio?

Hi there! We do allow dogs on the patio as long as they are on a leash, remain on the floor, get along with others, and are well behaved.

Dinner portions were perfect and very tasteful. We received 5 Star Service from everyone involved including Hostess Nataly & Sierra who stopped by to wish a happy birthday to my beautiful daughter! We made a reservation for 3 at 7 PM and upon arriving, we were seated right away! I thought it was really kind of the server to accommodate my mom's vegetarian preferences, and offered to put the meat on the side! After trying Chef José's Zacatecan style fare, consider a new addition bullseyed and pinpointed! I'd stumbled in here a few nights ago- Mexico had just defeated a hearty South Korea squad in their second WC game, clinching the Group for El Tri and creating a palpable buzz among the Green/Orange & Red clad partisans who'd thronged El Ranchero... Leti and I shared a bowl of hearty Albondigas Soup to start- This is probably the finest restaurant take on the soup we've ever sampled! Most places will serve watery, tomato/carrot dense broths w/ a nominal, wan meatball. Not El Ranchero! Here, the soup is lovingly ladled w/ copious amounts of carrot, onion, cabbage and yes even a trio of meatballs. Hearty, decadent soup! We also shared a Jamaica Margarita. On the plus side it's $13 tab is decently priced- but if we are honest the drink was weaker than the Trump Administration is on corruption! Leti chose Shrimp Fajitas, which arrived steaming...Multiple fat shrimp partying w/ grilled onions + peppers. I went w/ a two item combo- A fantastic duo of machaca filled enchilada y taco. The machaca was everything you love re: that protein- Stringy, crispy and well seasoned. Xochitl was our server on this late SAT afternoon as the sun began its lazy descent to the western horizon. The rest of the restaurant staff were busily prepping the banquet room for a graduation party- So poor Xoxhitl was jamming like a trio of cats playing w/ a dozen mice. She was even mixing drinks in between serving her sextet of tables! Pro Tip- You can add a side salad or soup to most entrees for $3.99- Just ask! Our bill was $84 and for two plentiful entrees, a large if wan margarita and a side of wondrous, soul-warming soup...plus tax and tip. It's very easy to see why El Ranchero Claremont is a buzzing hub of its community- We've added El Ranchero to our must-visit Mexican staples. So should you.
