    Salad

Downtown Claremont has a vibe. This spot is supposed to have great salads. I don't experience a great salad. It was basically lettuce and a ton of cheese. The house dressing is just yuck. The service was slow-refilled one of our drinks by handing me the cup over a half way instead of walking to our table. Weird right? My mom waited an exorbitant amount of time for the chicken she ordered on top of her salad. She was most of the way finished before they finally brought it to her. I'm not a fan of this place.

This is an OK sports bar. Very large patio. Lot of screens and decent food, and drinks.

Always enjoy stopping here when I'm in the Claremont village. Good selection of food and drink. Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, always clean and staff is always great. They open at 10 am on Sunday during football season. Special menu for football as well. Having been on a chilaquiles kick, today I tried theirs for the first time. For a $12 skillet it was loaded with chops, beans, potato, egg, crema and cilantro and was quite filling. Took half home. Great deal for breakfast.

I came here with my friend and her party for her birthday because we lost our reservation for a restaurant across the street haha. The staff was very accommodating with our party of 9 and we were able to sit almost immediately. The restaurant is honestly very big! The patio sitting has a lot of space and their inside as well. For the menu, I will say that there is quite a variety to order from, but I wish they had other Mexican food options. I ordered the quesadilla appetizer as my meal and it wasn't too bad! Our waiter was also very kind and tended to our needs very well with our huge party - so thank you!

Tuna melt with bacon and potato salad.

I was in the mood for a tuna melt with bacon, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. I wasn't in the mood for fries, so I went with the potato salad which tasted pretty good as well. Service was attentive, and refills on my iced tea were quick. This is a comfortable place for both lunch and dinner, and with the summer heat coming in, there's an outside area that's covered where I've hung out to enjoy the breeze. Compared to the average ratings for this business, my experience has been above the three stars. My minus one star comes from the chips being incredibly salty, so I pass on them most of the time. Otherwise, this place is a solid local spot for me! Cheers!

Food is tremendous. Service is at the highest of quality possible. Ambiance is amazing. Claremont Village, outdoor covered seating. Multiple tv's and Dodgers playoff game with National League Championship in our pocket! Jen is a great server. She's knowledgeable about the menu and is elite at paying attention and serving your needs! This place is a no brainer! You will not regret it!!!!!

Are you going to bring back carnitas any time soon? I miss my favorite taquitos!! And the chile colorado / red chile? I miss my Ranchero burrito! If you brought them back, I would come more often. Maybe you could have them one or two days per week?

Are you checking for vaccination cards?

No, they are not. Only restaurants in the City of Los Angeles are enforcing, not LA County.

What is on the happy hour menu?

Do they allow dogs in the outdoor patio?

Hi there! We do allow dogs on the patio as long as they are on a leash, remain on the floor, get along with others, and are well behaved.

My friends and I summarize this restaurant as being "great for apps and cocktails" and not the best for dinner. It's sort of in a tucked away location. I nearly walked into Gus's BBQ because I missed the sign pointing to the Whisper House entrance. Plenty of free street and structure parking in downtown Claremont since it's a college town. Servers were attentive and noticed when we needed refills and answered our questions.

They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

A New York cut would have been great. Wife mentioned norms has better steak and eggs. A friend I met many years ago at a wine tasting invited me to a Burgundy wine class at Packing House Wines, and I attended. The store is located up a few steps on the north side of the Claremont Packing House. Parking is usually not an issue as there is a big multi-level parking garage on the east side of the packing house. All attendees sat down to a list of wines to be tasted, a printed out copy of the slides being presented, a big burgundy wine glass for pours, water, and a nice little charcuterie plate. The owner Sal gave the presentation, and it was easily the best wine class I have ever attended. He talks pretty fast, but not too fast, and his delivery was excellent, providing an extensive amount of information that was easy to understand. We pretty much learned everything about Burgundy wines from the history of the region, the stringent production laws, different classes of Burgundy wines, and details about all of the different producers and regions we tasted wines from. The class was scheduled for two hours, but it ended up lasting for two and a half hours. It would have been easy to stay for much longer as the class and wines were very enjoyable. The wine class was a little pricey at $125 per person, but this was a bargain as Burgundy wines are expensive. We were able to taste ten 1.5 ounce pours including several Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines (one of them was $350/bottle). My favorites were the '17 Albert Bichot Fixin ($53.99) and the '20 Domaine Lecheneaut Vosne Romanee ($124.99) which I purchased. They have wine classes regularly, and I will definitely return if one catches my eye. They have quite a selection of wines for sale, as well as tasting flights and food from their kitchen.

In fact, it was thinner than I expected but no complaints here. Anyway, it was absolutely bangin'. Big bold flavors that jump out and is very rich. This pizza satisfied my craving for SURE. The 6x6 sounded a lot bigger on paper, but it was actually pretty small when it came out. It's a good snack for 2 people, but for 1 person it would definitely be filling. Their onion rings were FIRE.
