Friendly service, great burrito and really good coffee. I got a latte and it was smooth with no bitterness or burnt flavour. The burrito was flat from the grill to heat it up but it was tasty. Tucked away in the Industrial area of Georgetown lays a quaint little cafe. Greeted by the owner upon entry with a smile and a good morning started my experience off great especially for a Monday morning and fighting Seattle traffic. I ordered a coffee, scone and got a bottle of water. The coffee featured is from Cafe Vita. Love Cafe Vita coffee so extra bonus points! The scone was delicious too. They have a full menu including breakfast burritos, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, fruit, veggies, lunch sandwiches and soup. Breakfast is served till closing! What a gem in the Georgetown area. My office is located across the street of Espresso By Design, so we would walk here for a coffee anytime we come into office. Last Christmas my company got us all gift cards. Before that I'm guilty of not stopping by. Once you walk in, you'll have a Narnia moment. I was not expecting a whole shop, I thought it was one of those drive-up coffee stands. What a wonderful surprise. They have a HUGE menu, so take your time. Their espresso is smooth and not bitter at all. I recommend any of their sandwiches, you can't go wrong. I'm basic and usually go for an americano with cream. Totally recommend for coffee with friends. Indoor and outdoor seating in their mini garden. Mini parking lot. Right next to the Seattle Design Center. read more

Stopped by this morning to grab a fresh iced Americano and a breakfast sandwich. Got a ham, cheese, egg on English muffin. The bread itself tastes like a whole grain, not the traditional white English muffin bread. But it was soft. Egg was thick and ham was warm, cheese melted. It was really good! Americano was nice and strong. Lots of options for a light breakfast or lunch, snacks, lots of options for different drinks and candies. Small space but lots of seating for a small space, indoor and outdoor. It felt very organized and clean. Love the location, plenty of parking. I had a super tasty and affordable egg & cheese croissant here the other day and I am eager to return. This is a Georgetown classic that's been around since at least the 1990's and I plan to get my coffee from there as often as I can. Owners are super friendly and it's a quiet, cozy environment. Lovely spot with some indoor and outdoor seating. The rooftop was closed when we went in on a Monday morning. The server was so friendly and prompt. We ordered a small mocha and a hazelnut latte - both were very well made and hit the spot. The Turkey sandwich was fresh and well made, and we devoured it while sitting outdoors and taking in the morning air. The coffee is good but a tad bitter. I also had a breakfast burrito which was pretty tasty and was served with a small cup of sriracha, and I liked that. Their location is convenient as it is the only coffee place within a mile of my office, but I wasn't blown away. The shop is cute and the guy that works there was alright... The staff is super friendly. They're very welcoming the moment you walk through the door which is always a plus because you don't get that very often in Seattle. It's a cute little shop with a few spots to sit. I'd like to mention this is more of a order and go kinda place or a quick place to eat and leave. It doesn't seem to be a spot to hangout for a longtime to study, so if that's what you're looking for I'd search for another coffee shop. Otherwise, the food is quick and easy to take on the go with you. The coffee come out blazing hot which I didn't expect and it was a nice surprise although I couldn't drink it for some time because it needed to cool down. I'm no coffee expert but I didn't feel the coffee was anything to rave about. I had an iced zebra mocha. But, this a very cute hidden gem in Georgetown! The barista was Lots of salads, donuts and goodies in the case (didn't try any, but they looked good!) and a little soup bar! Seating inside as well as a small patio that is surrounded with trees and bushes that make the patio seem secluded instead of in the middle of an industrial area! Three or four small tables on the rooftop patio, but there's not much of a view. read more

This place is the bees' knees. Plural bees. Not just one bee's knees. At least 11 or 12 bees' worth. The coffee is delicious, in that unique way that Starbucks doesn't have (who I DO pledge my consistent love to, 'cause you know...they're consistent.) The sandwiches have a rotating type of seasoned meat (!) and these sammiches are chock-full of meat and at $6+ is a steal. It's not like getting a sandwich out of the plastic-curtained cooler in some gas station in a small town called Humptulips, where the cut part of the sammy shows the ONLY filling it has. Chocolate bread is killer, the pumpkin butterhorn is DELIGHTFUL. I have not had their soups but they look great too. I love that they have the green Superfood, fresh cut fruit cups, quiches, pudding, cookies, bagels and everything that you wished Starbucks had ;) Staff=friendly as heck. The owner always remembers your name ^_^ and earlier this week, I forgot my water there and he held it for me: complete with my name written on it until the new day. Sweet! Be warned. This place is a little hard to find if you're not from around G-Town. It kind of appears out of nowhere, like the witch's house from Hansel and Gretel. *4.5 stars* I really like this place. It is tucked in an industrial area in Georgetown, but has a cute tree lined patio with plenty of outdoor seating. The shop itself is owned by a very nice couple and the wife, Dawn, makes the best tuna ever (5 stars for tuna!!!). Their coffee is delich, and they feature local art from people in the area. I also like that they offer honey by their cream and sugar stand which is something that is all too often left forgotten. Lastly, you can get your Odwalla fix here and pick up some healthy snacks. There are in Seattle, despite or because of the proliferation of Starbucks and other omnipresent vendors of what passes for coffee, hidden treasures where one can find a superior brew, exemplary customer service and an atmosphere that is welcoming and friendly. Mr Cheung and Team always greet each person who comes through the door, and refreshingly, says anything BUT: "What can I get started for you?" It's more along the lines of what I grew up hearing in any bar in Montana, when I lived there: "What'll you have?" E.B.D. does not try to be a hipster magnate, replete with steampunk decor and vacuous vapidity on the part of anyone behind the counter. This is where one goes when one knows work will be more than a challenge, thus starting the day off with good coffee, nice music (thank you, KING FM) and professionals who take the right amount of time to deliver the goods is of paramount importance. In addition to the coffee, there's a full lunch menu of soups, sandwiches and salads, a secret garden (shhhh!) in front and a wee deck up top. My only regret: Espresso By Design is not open seven days a week. I'd gladly wake my sorry ass up early on a Sunday to drive from West Seattle to what has become my favorite java joint in Seattle. Limited seating inside but with great coffee and a decent amount of sugar free flavors - my friend has had their food a lot here and likes it. The best thing about Espresso by Design is the friendly service. They are quick to greet you with a smile and even when there is a line, it isn't long before you are helped. Prices are good, and the food is ok, but the Coffee is the best around. It always drives me crazy that they charge extra if you use a credit card, even when you spend more than $10.
