This is a review focused on an individual staff member's approach and treatment over our family's time in the restaurant (so if you are less interested in staff and more interested in food I recommend finding another review!). I can start with the food - the vegan biscuit and gravy was good. I enjoyed the flavor though the biscuit was fairly dry (not totally unexpected in a vegan biscuit) and the gravy could have been a bit richer. I am not sure how my partner's food was - because we had to sit apart. We brought our pup, which we've done at other restaurants and leave him strictly in his carrier which many restaurants are okay with; here we were told our pup had to be outside regardless. We had also brought our little one, who would need to sit inside because there were only benches outside, and the table chair we have, well, it needs a table. Okay, all good, my partner and I are pretty good at calling audibles, and the staff member who had asked us to have the dog outside said they'd come by and take my order since I'd be outside with the pup. Here's what happened next (after combining accounts with my partner): -my partner tried to get our little one set up in their table chair -in this process the same staff member informed my partner they needed to place a food order and couldn't just feed the little one here (uh, of course, but maybe we need a minute to get settled especially now that they're single parenting?) -I waited patiently outside and no one ever came to take my order -instead once my partner went to place their order, I had to call them to share my order and have it placed I will say, at least my order was still brought to me outside, but the whole situation felt disrespectful, and honestly, our family ended up feeling unwelcome. It's hard to focus on the food when you're treated as if you're misusing a restaurant space when all you're trying to be is an adequate parent. I'm sure this would be a lovely place to eat as long as you don't bring an unexpected factor (aka a pup) that leads to your family being split and then assumed to being a mooch of some kind... read more

My friend and I came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. We were able to come earlier in the morning to find parking and get breakfast before it got too busy. When we arrived, it was not too busy, and we were able to order at the counter right away. Food: I ordered the vegan biscuits and gravy. The gravy is made with their housemade vegan sausage. The biscuits can be regular or the vegan version. I opted for a full vegan breakfast. The biscuits and gravy were absolutely delicious. Service: The restaurant is fast casual, where you order at the counter and you are given a number for a server to bring you your food when it was ready. Drinks were delicious and well made. No charge for alternative milks! Cayenne mocha had a nice warmth to it. Service was also very kind. They bring you your order even if you're downstairs. Seems like a nice place to hangout and catch up with friends. Very clean. Would definitely return to try their brunch items! Quaint little coffee shop. I love the staff and the delicious food offer. You order at the cash register then go grab a table. They also have more tables upstairs since the main floor has limited seating. We tried the breakfast burrito and the vegan biscuits and gravy. So good. I highly recommend it. read more

Went here because a vegan friend was in town. Never been so wasn't sure what to expect. Just be aware that the menu pictures posted on here are way out of date. I got the non vegan biscuits and gravy and it was $18. This was also just two small biscuits swimming in bland gravy. Everything else is really expensive too. Street parking only, so good thing we went really early. The people are super nice that work there, and it's a nice little spot, until it gets busy. It was also a Saturday so maybe that's why. If you're vegan, maybe this place is for you. But the price and amount of food you get, did not add up. read more

I went last summer and enjoyed the marinated tofu so much I also got the fruit bowl which I didn't like that much and I got a vanilla oat milk latte that I thought was on par with how much I enjoyed the tofu! Service was quick and they wrote me and my friends names on the cups in a fancy font which was cute it was pretty busy which I didn't expect so it was a little loud but that's to be expected with a cafe :) I think I would go back just for the tofu but would be happy to see more vegan options on the menu read more

I absolutely adore this place. We are vegetarians considering a move to Seattle from the hellscape that is the District of Columbia and wanted brunch in the Hillman City/Rainier Valley/Rainier Beach area. And this place was perfect. It's a small cafe with a rustic startup vibe and granola-making energy. Their staff people were all exceptionally pleasant (a far cry from service in DC) and really helpful in explaining what was used in each dish. It's located on the not-as-hectic part of Rainier Ave in the cutest little neighborhood. Honestly, this might be the perfect little neighborhood for us, and Redwing would be part of that. read more

Today was my first visit to Seward Park in many years. I had a "long drive" (stop and go traffic) and needed to take my four dogs for a walk. I was exhausted and knew I'd need a cup of coffee for my drive back home! As I attempted to look through the window with my active pups in tow, I realized quickly there was no where to safely secure the pups and go inside to grab some coffee. When I was about to walk back to my car, one of the incredible Barista/cook/employee/owner ... stepped out and offered to take my order for me!!! I was so impressed by this and his kindness and service! He went above and beyond when he noticed my struggle! Coffee and dogs and chaos! He took my order and I gave him my credit card. He made everything so easy and I truly appreciate it! His compassion and understanding helped this tired Momma make it back home with some extra energy from a yummy drink!! I highly recommend "Red Wing" coffee house/vegetarian cafe to everyone! Thank you for being so kind and the barista who brought my drinks out ... Thank you and thank you for being so helpful and understanding with my pups! I could tell this place would be a wonderful spot to talk with friends and eat a yummy meal! If I could give this place negative stars I would. I'm not a vegetarian but I also eat vegetarian once or twice a week so that's not the problem. The food here was the absolute worst I've had out of a vegetarian kitchen. I got the biscuits and gravy and it was quite honestly the worst meal I can remember having here in Seattle and I've lived in this area (south Seattle) for over 10 years. I ordered the Rainer Beach Breakfast and a vanilla latte. My meal was very delicious and you can taste the freshness. I love a good vegan/GF restaurant. Services was good and great. I will definitely be back. This is the perfect spot for a light breakfast with a lot of flavor. One thing I do enjoy on my potatoes that they didn't have was syrup(pancake syrup). Perfect location near my stylist shop. Early morning appointments this is the perfect vegan options. Vegan biscuits and gravy were really good. The avocado toast was also amazing too. I was at a business meeting in Tukwila and this cafe showed up on Yelp. Rainier Beach is a cute area of Seattle- I had never been! The cafe is located on a side street- parking wasn't the easiest to find. The cafe itself is super cute! Amazing back patio area with local art and comfortable tables. The two people I met - the guy cooking (thinking he is the owner) abs the girl making the drinks and running food were super nice! You felt so welcomed walking in. All the pastries were homemade- the almond croissant- OMG- soooo good!! I ordered the rancho jueovos (spelling) and my friends ordered the avocado toast- all delicious and freshly made. One of the best egg breakfast places for us is this cafe in Seattle . When we first visited Seattle, we came here randomly not knowing we would fall in love with the food. When they did open, we were their on the first weekend itself. They have extended to a beautiful outside area on their backyard, but the food not that good as before:- Veggie Sandwich:- It comes with a side of fruit filled with cheese and veggies. It was good, fresh. Avocado toast:- Skip this one, you would find a better version someplace else. Rainier beach breakfast:- 2 eggs with toast and roasted potatoes. So their roasted potatoes are to die for when we had it for the first time but this time they were not even fully cooked. Do get their side of apple butter which is just yumm. Potatoes Rancheros:- my better half just loved this dish especially their mexican chili sauce, which sadly they have changed which tastes not even near good as before. Egg sandwich with roasted potatoes:- The eggs were baked beautifully, when you eat the sandwich as whole you can not tell that you are eating egg. Liked the sandwich. Danish pastry:- OMG this was yum. Had to stop myself to take a pic. hehe Cafe Latte:- It was good. Not too bitter. Warm cup of coffee in Seattle rain, Perfect. Cappuccino:- Nice frothy, bit bitter for me. Liked the latte more. Hot chocolate:- Emm, skip this one. Overall, this cafe is always going to be a hit spot. Service is A1, on all our visits. This a a super eclectic, super popular place that caters towards vegetarians and vegans. Just the look of the outside tells you that you're going to walk into somewhere a bit funky, and the inside does not disappoint that expectation. Completely mismatched furniture and decor down to the silverware. While it's not polished, it definitely has a charm to it. Restaurant was definitely cleaned regularly and the service was good. Order at the counter, they'll deliver food to your table. Bus station crammed into an awkward location that became quite problematic to get around as the place filled up with hungry patrons. When I first arrived it was super chill and there were few people, by the time I was leaving there was a line out the door! You know this place is good if people are willing to see a huge line and still continue to wait! Funky Seattle parking, you know... the usual. If you're willing to walk a few blocks it's super easy to find free parking in the neighborhoods nearby. There's a bus stop right outside, so I think it's safe to say it's pretty easy to get to on public. I had the biscuits and gravy - definitely one of my favourite breakfast items that I can very rarely order because everyone uses real country gravy. Redwing offers this dish in both vegetarian and vegan versions along with several other items on the menu. Good coffee, good food. Came here for brunch on a Seahawks Sunday. We didn't want to venture into Seattle and was trying to discover some good eats near our home. We stumbled upon this gem on yelp and decided to check it out! Super cute, hole in the wall vibes! Kinda reminded us of cafes we stumbled on during our last Portland trip! We ordered two main dishes and 2 drinks and it came to about $30. I went with the Rainer beach breakfast, substituting toast for biscuits and potatoes for fruit. My fiancé ordered the egg sandwich with roasted potatoes. The egg sandwich has baked egg which was really tasty, tomato, onion and arugula! Simple but tasty! In terms of drinks we ordered a London fog with soy and latte! Seating was limited upstairs but they have additional seating downstairs as well.
