I LOVE eating at Essence!! Everything on the menu is wonderful. I enjoy all of the sandwiches, the soups and salads. My favorite salad is the Spinach salad, and they make a great cream of Asparagus soup. They offer different types of flavored tea that are refreshing. read more

I'm sadly changing my rating because I'm finding that the more I visit this place for lunch the more of a hit or miss it's become! On my most recent visit last week I met a friend for lunch here on my recommendation. The wild shrimp sandwich she ordered was a mess and the shrimp was rubbery according to her. The chicken Greek salad was overly drenched with dressing leaving it very soggy and again the rubbery theme with my chicken. We basically didn't eat our food. However, the week prior to this I went for lunch and everything was great! This is becoming the pattern here! I hate to change my review because the staff are friendly and all, but honestly it's off and on. Don't know what the problem is for the inconsistencies but a5 star is not accurate. read more

Food is okay, but it's not cheap and it took awhile to come out. Waiters checked on us, but they weren't really friendly. PANCAKES (4/5) - a stack of 3 with whipped cream and a few strawberries. Light and fluffy. Best part of the meal. HUEVOS A LA MEXICANA (3/5)- decent but something I make at home. Not huevos rancheros. Basically scrambled eggs w/ veggies, pico, and avocado. Potatoes could've been crispier. Good amount of food. COUNTRY FRENCH (2/5) - turkey, bacon, brie, avocado on baguette. Small and thin slices of meat. Comes with a bag of chips. Not worth the price at all ($8?). The sourdough bread sandwiches are much larger and more shareable. Brother in law liked his MEAT LOVERS OMELET. Hubby ate half his mom's ROAST BEEF SANDWICH ($8.50?) & said it was good. It was pretty big and can be shared if you're not a big eater. read more

We stumbled across this cafe while we were at the new local Ace Hardware and we were pleasantly surprised. The cafe was packed and the staff was friendly. We both ordered the Wild Shrimp sandwich, which was delicious! We can honestly say we have never had a shrimp sandwich but these was extremely food and satisfying. The desserts in the dessert case looked delicious but we didn't get to try them this go around. We will definitely be back for seconds and next time we will try a slice of cake. read more

We had breakfast at 8 am on Monday morning so maybe the grill wasn't hot, but eggs, potatoes and toast were served much less than warm on two breakfasts. Eggs need to be hot when they hit the table. The potatoes were actually refrigerator temp in the middle and toast was back at room temperature. read more

I've been here for lunch and today it's for Breakfast and both trips provided for a culinary delight to my palate! This is out in Fulshear, worth the drive. Service is awesome, you need to try their flavored teas ( I suggest the strawberry one ). My Mexican style omelette with chorizo and veggies was great, huge portion. My side of potatoes equally tasty. Be cautious if you order the breakfast taco, if you're hungry order 2, those are not huge, but still delicious. Next time I'm here for breakfast I'm trying the veggies omelette. If coming for lunch ask what is their off menu special, when I did I had the freshet fish wrap pita ever, with great seasoning and flavors. Only reason I don't come more often is the drive, but it's still worth a monthly visit !!! read more

This morning 2 of my cycling buddies and I made a trek to Fulshear, Tx and back. A journey of about 40 miles on our bikes and when we got there to Fulshear which was at the 20 mile pt we decided to stop at this cafe for breakfast. Very bike friendly, we parked our bikes by this nice outdoor patio and ordered us up some breakfast tacos and omelettes! I had a pretty good peach flavored tea that they had and my buddies ordered a mango smoothie and latte. Service was really friendly and prompt and the food was pretty good! Nestled at a cyclist friendly corner in Fulshear we were among other cyclists enjoying a break and conversation! I liked the vibe! Plenty of nice seating inside and great baked goodies if in the mood! If ever in Fulshear whether cycling or in the area this place is worth checking out! read more

The pros: Food is very good, they can even make an egg white vegetable omelet taste good, which is no small task. Quaint environment, good selection of baked goods. The cons: Service can be a complete disaster, depending on which server you get and how busy they are. Our table hadn't been cleaned today and server acted put out of her way when we asked her to wipe it, and still left dried syrup on it. We ended up ordering at the counter as no one was taking our order, and then went back up again as no one was bringing the check. Prices are ok for the quality of the food but way too high for the service levels. read more

This is a cute little cafe tucked into a small strip in the up and coming Fulshear, Texas. They are big on homemade products, and everything looks wonderful. I am a vegetarian, and I find when ordering sandwiches especially at chain sandwich locations often get scammed with pathetic looking vegetables. However, the sohosando is a hearty vegetarian option, which I enjoyed. My companions on the multiple times I have come raved about the quality of the ingredients and how they made such an awesome sandwich. The only negative I have is the Essence House doesn't always have enough help for the lunch rush. So, you can wait a little bit before the waiter is free to come and give you your check. Additionally, it's usually only one woman making sandwich so it can be a little slower, but it's worth the wait. read more

Also, I am always a fan of finding gems in small towns. #SupportSmallBusiness I have nothing negative to say other than they need to clean up better in between guests. They seem to neglect sweeping the floors around tables, and I notice this as the mom of a toddler, since most of our toys/utensils/cups end up on the floor during meals. I ordered the tuna sandwich and it was perfect. The only downside is that they don't have yellow mustard, only deli mustard, and that is my favorite thing to dip my tuna into (weird, I know). Hubby and our toddler got omelettes and both said they were good. We sat directly next to the cake cooler, and those cakes looked delicious. FOOD: I love having coffee there it is so delicious. I've had their omelettes which are good but their quiche is AMAZING! My favorite is the meat lovers but recently tried the broccoli cheese which was very good. I've tried their broccoli cheese soup but it was too watery for my liking and same with potato. I like to chew those types of soups. My favorite lunch item is panini because I haven't tried much else :-( I can't seem to try something new because panini is so good! ATMOSPHERE: too small. Went around dinner time with my sister and niece. We were planning on going to either Subway or Pepperoni's right next door but after work, I was looking for something quiet. Essence Cafe was perfect. We were greeted by the waitress, Siri, I believe and she was very pleasant. I asked her about the teas and she knew the whole menu very well. We ordered: -Strawberry Mango Tea (Me) -Mango Peach Tea -Tuna Sandwich w/ side Caesar salad -BLT w/ side Caesar salad (Me) The tea was amazing! Chilled to perfection and topped with fresh strawberries. My BLT was lightly toasted and the bacon was crispy and meaty but not too tough. The avocado was fresh and they were very generous with the serving size. The only thing I didn't like was the sliced cheese that came on it. I don't like cheese on my sandwiches and I didn't realize people ate cheese on a BLT. I just pulled it off, no problem. The salad was good and average. I wish there was another option for the side salad with the combo but I digress. The atmosphere was quiet and calm. It's very small and I could hear the workers chatting which was nice. I'll never go back. I found out the owner takes the tip money if its left on a credit card or put in the tip jar by the checkout! How do I know this? I asked the waitstaff. Because the turnover is so often there had to be a reason and I had heard a rumor of this...our waitress said "yes" - any tip left on a credit card or placed in the jar is not given to them.
