The gel pedi I got peeled off a couple days after I received it. Also do not come here for haircuts. It comes out very choppy and unblended, I had to pay more to get it fixed elsewhere. I came here via previous reviews raving about the cut but realized those are very old reviews. They charge $2 extra for transaction fees, other places are $1. I gave this place 4 s of the 20 min wait time when I had an appt BUT I was 10 min late because I couldnt find it....so i couldnt brind myself ti give them 5. However, they were friendly from the get go, they are CLEAN, and throughout the process i was asked "are you ok?", "do you like it so far?", "what do you think?" - just awesome! My nails are naturally long and i get the dip powder because its not hard on my nails. I DO NOT recommend this place. I was leaving out of town the following day. I called and asked if I could go at an exact time this same evening. The girl on the phone said my time was fine. Asked her if she needed my name, she said is this _ _ _? I said yes! (Apparently my name showed on her caller ID). My galpal and I stumbled in pretty late for a GEL mani for her, and a mani-pedi for me. The manager LILA was such a breath of fresh air. Such a great spirit of excellence. She did my gel-mani and then handled a walk in for a hair cut. She is a woman of many talents. She is very knowledgeable. She knew my nails were too full of oil, since it was my first time. She creatively found other colors and did multi-coats to cover up my oily pooling of colors on my nails. - She is kind, warm - She even offered us some water to quench our thirst Li did the mani for my friend. I needed a self care day, called off work, and went to Essence Salon to give myself a pedicure. It was very therapeutic, melted my stress away, and Reina was absolutely lovely. The sugar scrub was amazing, just be sure to shave the day before not right before. The callus remover was beautiful, gave me "soft baby feet", and my nails look bomb!! I went for a classic white gel. My nail tech Reina even saved my life from a mosquito biting me and said that the mosquito loved me because I was so sweet! I came here on a Sunday because my usual nail salon was busy. When I arrived around 11:15 am, I was the only customer there. I was taken to the back nail seats by Lee and she brought over some gel colors to choose from. The whole time Lee helped me, her customer service was so great. She kept asking me if everything was okay and encouraged me to let her know if there was anything I wanted changed or fixed, and she would do it no problem. She even said "I'm not like others where they get mad if you tell them you want something fixed" lol, which has happened to me before. She was very understanding and kept saying "the only thing that matters is what you see because it's gonna be with you all the time. It could look different from my point of view so please tell me if you want something fixed because your view is all that matters". I really appreciated that because it's true, oftentimes when you tell your nail tech something looks off, they get mad or say "that's just the way your nail is". A couple came in for pedicures as I was getting my nails done, and I don't remember the tv being on but all of a sudden I heard basketball on the tv. I don't know if it was for the man, but I thought that was nice of them. My nails came out nice, not the best I've had but also not the worst. I will definitely come back here just for Lee's service! And it doesn't hurt that they aren't busy on Sundays ;) (yet). UPDATE: the next day, less than 24 hours, and my gel is already peeling off at the tips :( read more

I called to schedule an appointment recently and asked to come in on a Friday at the earliest appointment that was available. The woman I spoke to said that I could come by when they open at 10am. I was excited to have an early appointment, so I immediately booked it. When Friday came around, I arrived right on time, but the shop wasn't open yet. I waited, waited, waited, and...waited. Not a single employee showed up during the 30 minutes I waited outside. I left feeling extremely frustrated and disappointed. I really liked this place up until today. I went in for gelx and I liked the concept of my nails-- however every nail was shaped differently and a different length. I don't really like coffin for on my hands so that may have been more my fault. My cuticles got cut on every finger on my left hand and they really burn. I'm a little too anxious to speak up ( plus ik it happens sometimes) but it would've been nice if she was more gentle. I liked the pedicures I get here and it's usually empty on weekends. I don't get my nails done often but when I do I come here. On Friday I went in to get a mani/pedi standard nail color. The person working on me, I didn't catch a name, recommended gel on my hands since it dried quicker. I was in a bit of a rush, so I said sure. The color I wanted was similar to the one I had gotten on my feet. The next day, I had came home after a concert and noticed that the color on my finger nails had changed. It went from a bright saturated pink to a white. I hadn't noticed the color change and found it odd since I had gotten them done the day before. This has never happened to me with gel. Normally when I do get gel, it will last me a good 2 weeks until I begin to chip. I was so disappointed, especially after having been convinced to get gel. It went from a standard manicure and pedicure for $35 to $52 for gel. I should have just done it without. Now I feel iffy about coming here and will need to find another place. I'm not sure if it was an expired nail color but still, I'm very sad. read more

I was wondering what grade to give this salon because I felt I did not get a good value for what I paid. Bottom line : not going back. I stopped patronizing the usual ones in the Orange County areas since there were many customers who ignored mask requests despite signs all over. It's not enforceable and I don't want to spend any length of time indoors if people around me aren't masked up. That said, I felt the price here for a Deluxe pedicure ($42 with no tip) is overpriced comparatively. Literally only the foot and below ankle area gets the spa treatment here for that amount of money. Massage was only 3 minutes per foot. Elsewhere, the entire foot to knee area is pampered : masque, sugar scrub, feet have callus removal , close to 10 minutes massage and plain color on toenails. I am slightly surprised by that since I've been doing the pedicures for several years now. I've paid less for more work by the nail technician. What an unfortunate disappointment. I didn't complain while there because apparently that's how this business is doing it. read more

Overall, I had a great experience here at Essence Salon. It's located in the shopping complex with 99 Ranch Market. There is ample parking but it can get full depending on the time. I came here after Thanksgiving and it surprisingly wasn't too busy. I called ahead of time and they were able to book me right away. I came in for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Amy and Lee helped me out and they were both professional, efficient, and friendly. The salon is clean and modern and the massage chairs are comfortable. I thought the prices were fair ($18 for a regular pedicure and $25 for a gel manicure). Amy did a great job with my pedicure. My big toenail got injured and is in the process of falling off while the new toenail is growing in. She was able to smooth out my toenail to look good as new. This beauty salon is a one stop shop. I got my hair trimmed, nails done and underarms waxed in just about an hour! Lyla did a great job trimming and styling my long hair. Will be back to have Lyla work her magic on my hair again! The lady that did my nails also waxed my underarms. She did a good job on my nails but not so much on the waxing. There were several hairs (mostly baby hairs) that remained which I removed with a tweezer after I got home. I may give them another chance on the waxing and I'll pay closer attention on the results before leaving next time. Tidbits: This is under new management and Lyla is the new owner. And, it's only $14 for men's hair cut! I suggest making an appointment before coming in as it was packed when I came on a Saturday. I only stopped here because I had to get my nails done really fast. The gel isn't dried off and the shape is horrible. As you can see on the pictures it's like two diff set of nails. Very unhappy. Ughhhhhh everything is getting attached to the nails because it isn't dry. I put my hands in my hoodie and the fleece got caught on. They need to go back to nail tech school and to learn everything. Okay, I'm just going to keep this short & simple. I recently moved closer to this location & I figured that because I've seen all these great comments and reviews about the work here, I'd like it. WRONG. And me, I'm a very understanding. I never ask for too much when I get my nails done because I know how hard it is to be "perfect, but to be honest with you, this place is only has nice equipment, just not using it for their full potential. I got a gel manicure, pedicure, eyebrows waxed by Lyla & a hair cut from Lina.. small little trim to get layers. 1. Gel manicure - Terrible. She extended my thumb, index, and pink on both hands with a terrible shape. The gel polish is uneven & she kept painting thick layers which literally are making the nails already peel. When I got it yesterday. I felt a burning sensation under the UV light which isn't normal. $35 for this sloppy work, no thanks. 2. Pedicure - I got gel as well & I mean, they cleaned it & they put the polish. But again, thick layers which make it look really sloppy. 3. Eyebrows - I asked to get it cleaned so she kept my shape, but I still had to go home & tweeze the hairs she did not pull. 4. Haircut - I said keep the length, then add layers because my hair is dry at the crown of my head. She cut the length & my hair is shorter. But it's okay because I know it'll grow faster. I paid $25 with an iron styling & I didn't even like the way she styled it. Overall, clean & comfy. Just not a good job at all with any of the services I got done. The nail polish I got on my fingers are very sloppy & uneven, if I wanted to get this, I would've just asked my little sister to paint my nails for me. read more
