Everything was superb! My daughter and I shared the Molcajete. The beans and rice are like homemade. Especially the refried beans!! Yummm!!! Everything that we ate was out of this world! We also enjoyed their homemade desserts. I had the flan, and my daughter had the capirotada (bread pudding). We can't say it enough, how much we enjoyed the ambience, the music, the service, especially the food... EXCELLENT!!! Had breakfast today with my granddaughter and great-grandson; it's my third visit. The restaurant is very pleasant, and the staff and manager are eager to please, polite, and experienced. The food is delicious and authentic. They also have a breakfast buffet on Sundays that starts at 9 am. The prices are very reasonable. You can find menudo and cocido at this restaurant. I definitely recommend it to everyone. Lots of parking available. read more

This is the third time the wife and I have visited this place since our favorite restaurant closed. The first time I had Chile relleno, and my wife had a chicken Quesadilla, the second time I had bacon and eggs, and my wife had a hamburger, and the third time I had Caldos de res which is beef soup and simply could not have been more pleased each time. The soup I had was made by a chef and not just a short order cook. It had so much flavor in it I was truly surprised. Each time we ate here we were delighted in the quality of the taste of what we were eating. The atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant. Music was not loud and overbearing. Prices are reasonable. Went here for the brunch all you can eat buffet, and at $27 I thought it could have been a lot better. Their soups, the menudo and the pozole were delicious. Their rice and beans were really good too. Every thing else I thought was either dry or too salty. My waiter was really nice but I thought it took him a while to see how I was doing. Apparently there was also no air conditioner inside so it did get a bit hot inside. Probably one of these restaurants you come to try once and then that's it. read more

After being informed El Torito's wait list was 45-hour on Sunday, we decided to try another nearby spot as long as they had pozole. I love green pozole and when I initially looked at their Yelp page, I didn't see it and was getting ready to settle for red pozole but they had it! Estrada's is definitely a gem and a great alternative to El Torito. Decent prices, a great variety of traditional Mexican dishes like pozole (green or red!), burritos, tacos, taquitos plates and the American fare as well like burgers, pancakes, etc. they even offer AYCE Taco Tuesday and I have to mention complimentary chips and salsa! My biggest disappointment about this place is NOT VISITING THIS PLACE SOONER! OMG!! I was raised on authentic homemade mexican food and have eaten at 100's of different restaurants and this place is now in my top 5 faves! We were a party of six who chose the buffet. The breakfast items were made fresh and brought to our table. A few popular Mexican dishes were kept warm and fresh tasting absolutely delicious. This included fresh fruits, chili colorado, chili verde, chicken fajitas, rice, beans, menudo and pozole. There were also some desserts including flan. The watermelon water was fantastic. Our second time here. The first visit didn't go so well, so we wanted to try the Taco Tuesday Special and give Estrada's a redemption visit. When we arrived we had about an hour and a half and they were not very busy, but the waiter that was taking care of us spoke no English. With our very limited Spanish, we were able to place our order, but when the food arrived nothing was right. The server didn't even get our first plate correct because it was supposed to come with rice and beans and it was just tacos, but not the meats we ordered. Luckily another waitress came to our rescue and solved it for us. Once our orders got fixed, everything went a lot better this time around. My only issue is if a server receives a credit card for payment, they should immediately advise the customer that there will be a 3% credit card fee to give customers a warning. Things are not yet a 5 star rating, but with some management training and attention to details, Estrada's will get there on a consistent basis. read more

This was the second time for my team to have breakfast here, but this was my first visit. We were seated right away and there were quite a few diners already inside. There was a lot of seating available for our party of 6. The menu had a large variety for breakfast and lunch options, both Mexican and American cuisines. Since it was the weekend, they offered Menudo, so that was my choice for Sunday brunch. I loved that It came out very hot in temperature, because most soups are always not hot enough. It did take me longer to eat, though, since I had to wait a little for it to cool to a non burning mouthful. It was delicious and I recommend it if you are craving menudo. Other dishes ordered were a Chile Relleno and Eggs, Chicken Enchiladas plate, Chile Verde and Eggs. All of us enjoyed our breakfasts! Second time here and we love it! It starts as we enter the restaurant and hear the music streaming. Yes, the music! When the music is especially selected to set the mood of your visit, it deserves praise! Eydie Gorme streamed during our first visit and then Mariachi Varas de Tecalitlan streamed today. Some of our feast included: Chicken Mole enchilada - the sauce itself is super labor-intensive. A dish I would always try when I see it on the menu. Packed with authentic flavors of a perfect mile sauce. Chorizo skillet hit the spot for husband. Served with potatoes and tortillas(or toast) and 2 eggs your way. Belgian waffles with berries came with eggs, sausage (or bacon), and hash brown. This is one of my favorite breakfast plate. A balance of sausage and healthy berries is a plus! Coffee is good too, strong enough but doesn't give me the jitters! Service was super nice and friendly. Definitely adding this restaurant in our rotation. read more

So I questioned the price change... The young girl helping me said bc chorizo is extra? I said the sign doesn't say that... The older lady said she manually charged +$2 bc the price is only good for M-F? I said the sign doesn't say that either... Anywho, they weren't willing to adjust the price as advertised! Burrito was about half sized of average, probably worth $6, but not $8. I think an average price is around $12 elsewhere for a full sized breakfast burrito and I'd rather pay that instead. I have only ordered for takeout but plan to dine in and try their authentic Mexican dishes. Clean, welcoming restaurant, they have a bar area which is also nice and welcoming. Plenty of parking. I'm so glad we gave this place a second chance. The Grand Opening was less than stellar. Menu items and staff were limited. HOWEVER... This time around it's a total 180! Everything we ordered was delivered hot and delicious. And staffing was not an issue. I ordered beef taquitos and they were good. The tortilla had a nice crunch to it, the shredded beef could have used a little more salt, otherwise a solid choice. We all sampled eachother's meals and gave them all a thumbs up. Next time we will try the cheese enchiladas, because we have a favorite Mexican restaurant in Long Beach that makes the best cheese enchiladas. If that happens, we will definitely be regulars! I really wanted to support their expansion and local business. We've been going for take out breakfast burritos at their location on Chapman/Knott for years. This restaurant is not good. I'm giving it two stars for a clean restaurant and a good kids menu. Kids menu has eggs, meat, and pancakes options. Good sized portions and my kids enjoyed it. Worst service ever this morning. We arrived on a Sunday morning at 9am with an almost empty restaurant. The kids ordered hot chocolate and she returned 15 mins later with "we are out of hot chocolate" and no offer to take another drink order. Service was incredibly slow. There was only two other tables besides ours and our server would hardly return. We had to continually look for her to get a water or the missing toast. Omelette order was supposed to come with toast that never arrived after repeatedly asking her for it. They kept delivering it to the wrong table next to us even after we kept trying to get their attention (and even though those customers would decline it). As we are walking out of the restaurant the server yells out "don't you want your toast!" Um, yeah, 20 mins and and two rounds of missed toast deliveries ago. I ordered their steel cut oatmeal and the most disgusting dish I've ver seen came out. I love oatmeal and order it everywhere, at every diner, every chain, Starbucks...everywhere. This was flooded with water (I had to drain it into a cup) and the grains tasted like cardboard. Just look at the photo and prepare to be grossed out. Hubby ordered their polish burrito and that was fine. Orange juice was great tasting and had pulp and seeds so seemed fresh. Will not return. read more

Upon arrival of the bowl, the amount of chicken and hominy felt like I had been eating it already. I had asked for more hominy (I love hominy) and they told me each bowl was already portioned? Finally! My family has been waiting for months for Estrada's Cafe to open!!! We've been reading the initial reviews and most are positive. For a new restaurant, that is basically a mom and pop, we think they are doing great. I think some of the visitors have unrealistic expectations. It's not a giant conglomeration where everything is nice and tidy in a box and you just apply it to the next franchise. Estrada's is a locally family owned restaurant that employs our neighbors and makes great food for us all. Our experience was overall very good. The staff is very friendly and the food was delicious. There are some limitations with the menu but it didn't bother us. The salsa was a bit spicy but we enjoyed it. We ordered tacos, a combination plate with chicken taco and chile relleno, and menudo. The menudo was lacking of hominy and that was disappointing for my husband. He really likes the hominy. The relleno was delicious. The tacos were huge. We look forward testing out the menu and trying a dessert from the case up front. Best of luck and try not to get too discouraged by the haters. They need to give you a chance to work out the kinks and get a solid staff hired! read more

I've ordered breakfast burritos multiple times. My fiancé and I have tried the trendy breakfast burrito spots and Estrada's blow them away for the price. My fiancé likes a bacon burrito with hash browns. I prefer the Machaca and they put beans instead of hash browns! I'm into fitness and this has to be a healthier option. We are both so happy every-time we get these burritos and they're so inexpensive. You will not be disappointed. The service is amazing, very polite and helpful people. read more
