Man this place reminds me of the old pueblos of Mexico which is super awesome! It's located in the city of cypress And parking is kinda of small so be careful . The environment is super simple but super homey and welcoming The servers were also super helpful I was greeted by the nicest cashier The price is kind of high but it's definitely worth it you can definitely taste the quality of the food ! First time visiting from out of town, found this place while searching for a good spot to eat. Overall super great food and amazing service. My family order two plates of the Chilaquiles, one red and one green, the chorizo and eggs and a huarache. We also got an orange juice, jamaica and horchata. Honesty recommended all of it, and that's coming from a Hispanic family who knows how these dishes should taste like. Everything had great flavor and good portions. Also super reasonable prices. This is my favorite hole in the wall in all of OC. They have my personal favorite (all day long), Chilaquiles. And you can't go wrong with a wet burrito with salsa verde, with a side of habanero salsa. So delicious! It is cash only, but they have an ATM. Everything is made fresh. I also tried the chicken tlalpeño, which is similar to menudo, and that was spicy, rich, and flavorful. Definitely would return here to try the menudo! I have been a customer at this location over the past years and had enjoyed the general quality and level of service previously provided at this establishment. There was often a welcoming atmosphere with attentive servers and management. That has NOT been the case with my most recent visit under the new management. While previous management had been raising costs as in recent months/years in response to changes, the new management has taken over and arbitrarily hiked prices. Getting utensils and even napkins was a chore under the new establishment - costs for the most menial things such as a SINGLE pepper was $4. The quality of service provided does not justify the costs with plenty of main entree items going up by over 25%. The person who is presumably the manager had a terrible attitude and was more interested in collecting the bill than ever meeting the needs of the customer - showing clear disinterest despite positioning himself to service customers. Higher costs, lower quality service, and disinterested management, would not recommend read more

The mole poblano is easily 6 stars. That sauce...(swoon)! Smoky and dark in color and slightly sweet with a spicy kick, served over a perfectly cooked juicy chicken thigh and drumstick; $10.99. The dish comes with three tortillas which are as thick as they come. I was in awe how fluffy they were in spite being about 1.5x the regular width. The Brawny man would be blown away how amazing a job those tortillas were for soping up that mole sauce! My 3 y/o son and hubs got the taquito plate and beef enchiladas with green sauce; both $7.99 each. The rice and beans are ok...its the main item that steals the spotlight. The taquitos were made from those same thick tortillas and had an amazing crunch! Just a note, they come covered in lettuce & crema, so if you like them uber crunchy like I do, I'd ask for it on the side or not at all. The green enchiladas were tasty, moist and delicious...my Hubs says the meat was really good and the best part of his meal. We both agree the staff was amazing and very nice....even though there was a language barrier. Only 1 gentleman speaks English & he was not there until right before we left. p.s. So I asked my waiter.. what is good? I think he just recommend this poster on the wall that had grilled cactus, beef, chicken, and chorizo with a side of beans. No. It's like 90% of the time right, which is why my husband doesn't like to go here, BUT, I refuse to give it up because their machaca burritos are the freakin BEST! Their pupusas are pretty legit too, especially for this being a Mexican joint and not a Salvadorian one. I usually only come here for one thing and thats their Mole de la olla AKA Mexican beef stew in a pot (una olla). Its the best here, well next to my mama's own take on it! What is in it you ask?? Well i'd be glad to tell you. It has.... tender beef chuck, large pieces of potato, a piece of elote and large pieces of zucchini swimming in a rich bouillon flecked with chile. It is on the spicy side so be forewarned when trying this delish stew out! Tortillas are handmade and served warm with that fresh just made taste you cant find anywhere nowadays! And if that doesnt excite you then they also have made-to-order aguas frescas with fresh fruit! Try the lemon mango!! read more

[restaurant] What is kind of interesting is if you use google maps, you can actually enter the restaurant and look around. For a 'dive' place it is pretty clean and well decorated (other than the kind of weird excessive warning signs) [mole poblano - chicken mole with sesame seeds - 9.99] The chicken comes with one drumstick and one thigh with beans and rice. The mole sauce is pretty good, with 3 REALLY fresh tortillas. I'm not a mole connoisseur, but it wasn't too salty and had a nice chocolaty flavor to it. In fact the tortillas are hand made (you really can taste the difference) [salsa] Their mild salsa is INSANELY spicy. It is like just pure heat and no salt. There amazingly is a spicier salsa if you dare. [chips] Freshly fried chips with no salt. I actually really appreciate getting chips with no salt because I can add as much was I need myself later. [horchata] This seriously was one of the best horchata's I've ever had. One of my biggest complaints of horchatas in most restaurants is it is either too sweet or too cinnamon. This horchata hits the perfect balance of the rice water with salt. [overall] Prices are a little high for a dive, but the care of the food is pretty good. I really appreciate the food not being too salty with fresh made tortillas and awesome horchata. read more
