I started going to Etch salon after I did extensive research on finding a new stylist who excels in doing blonde hair. I found Marisa's instagram page and was blown away by her work! I knew I had to get in with her. I told her how I tried many salons since moving to Scottsdale and didn't feel like they were getting my blonde right, I always came out feeling like it was mediocre until Marisa came to the rescue! The first time I saw her was actually a complicated color correction and I can not thank her enough! Not only did she listen to me and understand exactly what type of beautiful blonde I was looking for, she has given me knowledge how to protect my hair it's looking healthier than ever which is so hard when you bleach your hair IYKYK. I've even switched up different looks and cuts with her over the years and she gets it on point every time. I barely like telling people who I go to because I want to keep her to myself! I have been going here for years. I love the salon because the stylists are trained well. I have never left with a haircut that wasn't cut well. The salon is is nice and the people are friendly. Lots of great products. I would correct the rating though to show three $ not too. Most haircuts within Kierland and the quarter are $90 and up. Plus tip. It's very expensive. For two $ symbols I would expect to pay $50-70. But most salons are charging this much. So if you're going to pay it make sure the stylist you go to knows what they're doing. They rate their stylists by beginner to advanced and charge accordingly but even the beginners start at $70. Which is high for a beginner. They have a very good training program for their new stylists which I think is awesome. Stephanie H cut my hair and she did a great job. David is also good for Short cuts. read more

The positives: My actual hair CUT was very nice The negatives: I was quoted $180 on the phone and was charged $235 at the end- just a casual 30% price increase for a cut and color with no prompting throughout of any extra services. Just beware of what you are quoted v. charged. There was also a miscommunication with my stylist and I got a color that was way darker than what I had wanted. I waited awhile to wash my hair and used my Olaplex like always, and after that first wash my hair was immediately back to what it looked like before. I have been going to Etch Salon for 6-1/2 years. super hard to get into these days but i always thought it was worth it......until now. The gal I usually goes to wasn't available so I saw David. what a terrible, terrible, awful mistake! it took me a year to grow my hair out and all I wanted was some layers and he totally and completely obliterated my hair! I have no words! Do not go to David! Kaela at Etch is absolutely the best! Not only does she do great color and cuts, she's an amazingly wonderful person. I have been going to Kaela for a year (I can't believe it's been that long) and she helped me get my hair back to a healthy state after someone else caused horrible damage trying to lighten my dark hair. I have never been one to stay with one stylist until now. Kaela is so patient and kind and gifted at her craft. Etch is located in Kierland so it's a great location but don't feel intimidated. I went in for my usual Bob and asked to have about 1 inch cut. I left with my hair in short uneven layers! I have been in tears for 4 weeks because of this cut. I think the girl that cut my hair must have been on something! Isabella called and said she would help me find someone to repair the cut. I said I needed to wait a few weeks for it to grow long enough to shape up. I left a text and a phone call this week and got no response. Was she sincere about making this right? The reason my rating is so low is that I know of one new stylist that did not get COVID virus vaccinations. In her own practice, some customers left to go to other salons and other customers demanded that she wear a mask. I know this for a fact because I asked her if she was vaccinated and she told me no - about two months ago. BTW - she had recently returned to work after having COVID! I think that it is every salon's obligation to inform customers whether or not the salon required their stylists to be vaccinated and require PROOF if they say "yes". Even now, this virus is way too dangerous for people whose health is compromised. People are still dying - although the rate is way down. Of course, anyone has the right to make a vaccination decision on their own. At the same time, customers should have the right to make a decision if they want to go to someone who is not vaccinated. read more

First time in Etch salon and what a amazing experience. I have been to several hair salons (upper end ) in Scottsdale but nothing like this. I walked in the other day and just happened to meet Chad. I explained about the problems that I had with other stylists and that my hair was looking really bad. we sat down and discussed everything. the next day I went into Etch and he did a magnificent job. Be sure to clarify your price before your service at Etch Salon! In the 4 months I have been a customer, I was consistently charged $85 for color retouch/blow-dry or cut/blow-dry. At my most recent appt, I checked out and was told "that will be $140"- a 60% increase. Nothing was said about this increase when I made the appointment, confirmed the appt, checked in for the appt or during the appt. A complete blindside! The receptionist's explanation made NO sense to me- so she gave me a second completely different explanation- which made no sense either. As a former business owner, I would never have raised my prices by 60% and spring it on a client like they did. read more

I don't even know where to start with this company... I don't do hair. I don't like to do hair. Hell... I don't even like getting my hair done! I just never had a talent for it, and it has been a decades long struggle to find someplace that I felt comfortable going to. I have spent 15+ years in the Valley - searching high and low for the "best of the best" that Phoenix / Scottsdale or any surrounding area had to offer - and what they all had to offer was decent, for the most part. Mediocre on average, and some of them were downright awful experiences (I'm looking at *you* 'The Root Salon'). As I have gotten older and my hair texture and color has changed (ladies.. you know what I'm talking about).. it became more necessary than ever for me to find a place to work with, especially after several prior sessions of what I considered to be a horribly botched job. A friend took pity on my plight at work one day after I had to explain my horrible hair for the millionth time, and recommended ETCH Salon. With nothing to lose and desperation setting in hard, I scheduled an appointment. After that first appointment, I was left in tears. I mean literal tears.... of JOY!! Not only did David correct a bad cut that was growing out into a mullet, but did so with the deft touch of an absolute MASTER at his craft. To put the cherry on this cake of being impressed, two weeks later when I went in for the color correction, everyone I spoke with remembered who I was, and even started talking in detail about the concept photos I had brought in on my first visit!!! All of the stylists I watched were engaged, happy, friendly, and obviously enjoyed what they did - another rare experience for me in a salon. I have NEVER been happier with my cut, color, and style. David not only heard what I said, he actually *listened* and understood what I was looking for, and provided it - FAR beyond my wildest expectations. If you read some of my other reviews, you will see I am not afraid to put those on blast who deserve it. I almost didn't want to leave a review for ETCH and David, because honestly I just don't want to share!! I have left with tears in my eyes for each visit now, simply because such a phenomenal job was done by ALL of the staff. Sometimes, a tip and a thank you just aren't enough. I found ETCH when searching Yelp one day for a good salon. After scouring the reviews, a stylist named Nick kept popping up as an incredibly talented individual when it comes to hair cuts. I basically had the Grand Canyon cut into my hair- lots of ledges and none of it flowed together. I had an unfortunate hair cut almost 2 years prior and had gone to multiple stylists in an attempt to fix it. It was pretty bad and I was desperate to someone to finally fix it. I called the salon and was able to get in quickly and with high hopes, I made the appointment. The salon itself is located in Scottsdale quarter, a location I had never visited before. The salon is pretty easy to get to and had a decent amount of parking. What I didn't expect though, was a massive salon packed with customers and staff. But that's a good thing. The walls were lined with high-end products such as kerastase which is my personal favorite. Everyone was very kind and professional. The salon itself was beautiful, clean and modern. Nick greeted me a few moments later and we started talking about the mess that was my current hair. It was akin to a bail of hay, over processed and crunchy not to mention poorly cut. He was very realistic with me when going over what we would have to do to fix it which was to remove several inches. He said the final product would leave me with fuller, healthier looking hair that would have more body. I was pretty nervous but went for it and wow, I was elated with the outcome. My hair FINALLY flowed as one and with all the depressing, dead hair gone, it was indeed fuller. I couldn't be happier with my cut and will be back. read more
