I had such a great time at Etch! I got my hair cut and colored by Rachel Debacco and got insane results. Rachel asked for photos of my current hair and inspiration pictures before so she could prepare (which most salons don't do). I really appreciated this so she could think about what she thought would look best. When I got there, she had me describe out exactly what I wanted and she made sure she would give me exactly what I wanted, while keeping my hair healthy. She provided great conversation with me the whole time & I enjoyed being the chair with her! It's not every day you find a hairstylist that is just as gifted with color as they are with cutting and styling hair. Kaela is an anomaly. I showed her a picture of the exact blonde shade and full set of highlights I was going for, and the results were on point. My story ... I had been going to the same stylist for almost 20 years. She knew my quirky hair like no one else. Then, because of a family situation, we had to move six hours away to the West Valley. I commuted back and forth for 6 months and then broke down and decided to take a chance on a local stylist. After trying a couple of other salons, I reluctantly made an appointment with Brittanie who was recommended for my chin length bob. I'm so glad I did. She is great. Go see Rachel D. For amazing color! She did a blonde and low light balayage style and I love it. I have to be very careful with my blonde so i was a bit worried. But she really is trained to know hair! She is friendly and kind. Very easy to talk to. I had a bad experience at another salon and when coming in and explaining that and what I imagined my hair to be she did a very thorough consultation and we were on our way. Conversation with her was bright and cheerful just what people need in these trying times. When I was done getting my color applied Alexis, made sure if I needed anything and that I was comfortable. This review can ultimately be summed-up in these words: ANTONIO IS AN ARTIST! A colleague recommended I give Etch/Antonio a try after I told her I wanted to dye my hair for the first time at 30. Couldn't be happier I followed her suggestion. At my first appointment, Antonio did a balayage with dark chocolate color. It was a nice transition, subtle change, but prominent enough that it introduced variability to my jet black hair. I really loved what he did with the color and also did a super flattering cut. Soon thereafter, I was feeling pretty adventurous and called and told him I wanted purple in my hair. I have to say, the style and color turned out better than I could have ever imagined. Not only did Antonio completely understand my vision, but he also produced a super classy and tasteful finished product! What an amazing hair artist. To top it off, going to Antonio will place you in the company of an extremely sweet, sociable, and gentle individual. He was so skilled, he really took his time and was kind enough to give me some pointers on styling my hair in all types of ways. He left me with exactly what I was looking for. ETCH Salon is generally a nice business and I've been going there for several years now. Nick Osborne was my stylist and things were going along just fine until Nick left to start his own business. I decided to stay with ETCH and opted for another stylist who, according to the ETCH website, has been there for a few years and so probably a seasoned hair professional. Boy, was I wrong! I saw Marco for a cut and color and have NEVER in my life had such a bad result. I seldom write reviews....good or bad...but this was BAD at it's worst. It's going to take several miserable weeks to grow enough to go elsewhere. ETCH is a relatively expensive hair salon so a bad result makes it even more painful. I moved to Tempe and I needed to find a new person and a new salon. I had a childhood full of terrible haircuts and default to high-end salons as a result of many experiences at Fantastic Sam's type $10 haircuts... cue yelp search, finding etch and scouring reviews to pick a person. I chose a few, called the salon and made my request. I was asked what services, and asked for balayage. I was recommended Marisa, newer to the salon, but with a specialty in balayage. I was given her instagram (AZ_Marisa). I conceded. Let me tell you, best choice. I have been getting this service for five years, never have I had someone be as careful and exacting as Marisa. She used several techniques I had not seen before. Hands down the best of this service I've ever received. My haircut was quality also. I later realized she had cut mine in a trend (I was not super descriptive) that I did not even realize was trendy. She's also super nice and sweet. I am not great with hair or doing mine - I often ask for tips and tricks from stylists - Marisa was absolutely the kindest and most patient at explaining and making suggestions that I have ever encountered. Bonus: I'm having engagement photos taken on a Sunday and wanted toner, cut and style. She doesn't work Sundays. She's coming in to do my hair. If you're looking for someone that is great at her work and really seems like someone you could build a long-standing professional relationship with - I highly recommend Marisa. Another note - many of the reviews claimed that the salon was not upfront about pricing - so I was a bit tentative when making the appointment and when it was completed - haircuts come with a blow dry and style. If you only have color services - those do not. That's it - no tricks. This salon is on the more expensive side - I believe that you get what you pay for - I definitely did. read more

I saw Steph H at Etch Salon on Friday. She is AMAZING! I've had the "Covid bob" (from another salon) for the last three years and I really, really needed a change. I showed her two pictures and she she worked her magic. I now have a pixie cut that I LOVE. She looked at the shape of my face and head before she started to make sure the cut would be good for me. While she was cutting she explained what she was doing; and while she blew it dry, she gave me a hand mirror and showed me how to do it. Went for the first time today to see Suzanne after meeting her in a totally different setting and asking for a card since I'm new to the area and miss my stylist of 15 years. I am so happy with my color and cut. I will say at first I was concerned - walking in it seemed loud and a little chaotic. I have been going to ETCH for a while now for hair cut, color and blow dry services. It has been consistently good job. Only wish the stylists were a little gentle in their line of work. I was there yesterday and felt pretty roughly combed, shampooed and blow-dried. My neck hurts today from the hair wash bowl being pressed too hard while being washed even though I kept lifting my head so it didn't get pushed too much. My head was bumped twice with the blow drier. I would like to believe it was all unintentional. I still plan to go back because they generally do a good job. I don't go to any specific stylist so hoping next time it will be a better experience. read more
