I wanted something very special the perfect cut the perfect color. My hair is going gray and it's hard to accept. I formally lived in Grand Island New York near Niagara Falls and my hairdresser who is going to lighten my hair and cut it according to the photos I showed her quit in the middle and said I can't go on a lighter ear hair will break off. So I walked around like bozo the clown with white roots for four months. It did lighten because I live in Scottsdale. With a girlfriend and we were just driving down my street towards Scottsdale Boulevard when I asked her what is the best hairstylist and salon in Scottsdale. She responded Rolfs. What do you know in 10 seconds there was rolls in the shopping center we were approaching. Needless to say I was thrilled with my stylist and I was thrilled with the color specialist. Was excited to get a haircut and style by Whitney. During the consultation, Whitney made a comment about how it had been a long time since my last hair cut. It's hard for me to make time for the up keep so I felt bad about myself right from the start. The wash and treatment was relaxing. Whitney did a nice job cutting my hair. As she went to style it, she asked what products I use. After sharing what products I use (anti frizz serum and oil), I was told the serum wasn't appropriate for my hair. Whitney asked how I bought the products and commented on how I didn't buy products after my last appt. While styling my hair, Whitney asked if I was still not styling my hair. As someone who didn't even blow dry my hair until last year, styling is not in my wheelhouse. I felt hair shamed by the end of styling. Whitney recommended products, which I bought one of. At the end, Whitney made a comment about how the salon gets busy in the fall and I could see anyone next time. The comment made me feel like she didn't value my appointment. I paid with a gift card, which the front desk struggled to figure out with how much was on the gift card. Fake fancy salon with poor quality service. Colorist must have never done gray hair before. Within 1 week (2 washes) gray started showing and root color was a light reddish color instead of dark blonde./ light brown. Shampoo bowls super painful on neck. Booked root touchup to cover gray roots. Found out would have to pay extra for hair to be dried. Avoid unless want painful, pricey experience with terrible results! read more

I received a bad haircut for $120. Other than trimming off the ends, there wasn't much cutting. Ridiculously overpriced and the more my hair grows out, the more I realize how bad the haircut was. Angela was nice, but I don't feel like she listend to me. Complete rip off. Do not go to this salon. Just not worth their prices. read more

UPDATE** Made an appointment for a complimentary deep conditioning treatment with Faye and showed up to my appointment to discover they did not make my appointment with Faye. Had my hair shampooed and treatment applied, the stylist attempted to turn on the television while I waited which required 4 stylists to attempt and fail. Had my hair rinsed with warm water, I've always known stylists to rinse with cold water after a treatment to lock it in. Left with wet hair, only salon I have EVER been to that didn't provide a blow dry as complimentary service. 30 minute drive for shitty service, never again. How do you guys make an appointment here? I had a terrible experience with Dion at the Scottsdale location. I went to the Scottsdale location for a consult with Dion in 2018. During my consult, he sneezed IN my hair... right on top of my head. I get that if one has to sneeze, they have to sneeze, but it is unacceptable to sneeze on a client's head. I was astounded and mortified. He apologized and laughed. I was not amused. I cancelled the follow-up appointment that I was originally going to have with him for extensions and a cut. Additionally, I didn't think highly of the extension colors that he suggested. I felt as if he wasn't listening to my wants. Not feeling like we were on the same page was far less unpleasant than being sneezed upon though. I would not return to Rolfs. That experience was absolutely unacceptable. read more

Eight months pregnant trying to hold onto a little dignity, I went for a haircut. The hairdresser blatantly lied to me saying she would only cut the split ends and clean up the cut. She cut 7 inches off of my hair. Seven inches. This put it above my shoulders. Her cold response to my tears was that 'it was a better look for me'. She and the rest of Rolf's staff are allowed to disregard the client's wishes and make their own decisions. That's a gross business model dressed up in glamorous marketing and prices. read more

My previous stylist had moved on so I moved on to Dion. He is every bit as much of a perfectionist as my last stylist. When you wear your hair in a bob and flat iron it, the line of the cut has to be precise and Dion made sure mine was. My hair lays alike a perfectly made bed with tucked corners and no lumps or wrinkles!! Now if he could do that for my face I would live at Rolfs. I flew all the way from Seattle to come and get my hair done here so this should speak volumes. I used to see Ireland when I lived in Seattle and after a few failed visits to other salons, I decided I needed to make a trip down to Phoenix. She is an remarkable colorist who pays attention to detail and has a vast knowledge on color. I showed her a few inspo pics and within a couple of hours I had the EXACT color I wanted. She even had to get pulled away by another stylist at one point to get to another client because she was making sure everything looked perfect while I sat to process. Ireland also recommend that I see Gwen to get my hair cut and I am honestly so in love. Gwen worked magic on my dead ends and still created a way to give me length while cutting a little over 3 inches off. I usually hate the way my hair looks after it gets cut, but couldn't stop smiling while she styled my hair. Gwen, you're marvelous and you know what you're doing, girl! I have received so many compliments and will definitely be flying out every 6 weeks or so to come and give my hair the love it deserves from these two amazing ladies! I went in for a touch up and a few highlights. My roots are dark. The stylist was knowledgeable and very nice. I told her that I had dinner plans with some friends right after my apt. When I was processing, I noticed that I had some dark color on the front of my light blouse. I know, I know. I shouldn't have worn a light colored blouse! I had that same thought before leaving my house. But it went so perfectly with my outfit and I figured they'd have enough measures to protect my blouse. Like I said, I was wrong lol Anyway, I asked for a tide pen or something to help get it out. The stylist asked me to take my shirt off and they would try to clean it in the back. I obliged, but realized that there was so much color around the collar! They took it back to try and save it. The sweetest customer experience rep told me that they shirt was not salvageable, but they will see what they can do. I was nervous. I should've known better. They actually went shopping for me! Brought me several options back while I was getting my haircut. I picked a cute sweater top. They then put it into a cute little bag and I changed into it on my way out. At checkout, I was nervous to see my bill. I never asked how much the shirt cost. Not only was it not on the bill bc they comped it, but they also gave me a beautiful gift on my way out for my trouble. EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE! On top of fabulous hair, I made it to dinner on time and well-dressed. Update: I had to get a color fix about a week later. They took care of me quickly and comped that and a blow dry too! I'm so sad to write this because I love my colorist and stylist with Rolfs and have been going to the salon for over 15 years but they keep moving their best stylists to the slower salons and that means if you have one you like you may have to chase them all over the valley! The front desk staff was friendly and ROLF himself was in the house - it was the grand opening of their remodeled location. The vibe was great. I got my hair colored by Ashtyn, who was AMAZING. She is so talented & by far the BEST stylist I've ever been to! I did a balayage style color, and left feeling like a Pinterest model. Dion did my cut and I LOVED it, I've never been excited about cutting my hair, and I've been trying to grow it out for so long, but Dion gave me a medium length cut that was so fitting for my style/personality. I feel like the pricing was reasonable considering how talented they both are. I have paid more elsewhere and left unhappy, so I definitely won't complain. read more
