The food here is pricey and not good. The fish in the stuffed avocado was way too lemony. The avocado itself was hard. The rope vieja was underseasoned. The wonton tacos were too sweet. The expresso martinis were bitter. The service was okay. Waiter was friendly. The rooftop is kinda small and at night the view is dark so it doesn't add to the experience.
We decided to visit Eter to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was 20mins from our hotel which was interesting with traffic. Reservation is required. Checkin is required at the front desk prior to getting on the elevator to the restaurant. The reservations were limited online but it wasn't very many people there when we arrive. Parking: available in the lot under the building. Be sure to drive slow if you will miss the turn. Service: 4/5 the waiter gave great feedback on the menu. We waited around 25mins for the food. I noticed maybe 2 or 3 waiters so the service Ambiance: it was surprisingly quiet for a restaurant. Intimate setting, nice for a date nice or nice dinner. Order: Seafood Pasta- 4/5 tasty with plenty of of seafood Salmon- 3:5 it was flavorful but I've had better. It was just alright in my opinion. Overall, I give my experience a 3.5.
Good food, disappointing service and billing practices. I visited this restaurant with a friend, and while the food was genuinely good, the service experience left us feeling disappointed--and frankly, taken advantage of. I was deciding between the lobster risotto ($45) and the seafood fettuccine ($34) and asked our waiter, Orlando, if I could substitute the pasta in the fettuccine with risotto instead. He said "Absolutely, we can do that"--no mention of any upcharges. What arrived was a risotto dish with the lobster and seafood typically included in the fettuccine. Tasty, yes--but I was shocked when the bill came. I was charged the full $45 for the lobster risotto plus add-ons for every other seafood item: * $14 for shrimp * $12 for mussels (even though half didn't open) * $10 for calamari * $14 for scallops All added without any explanation or warning. To make matters worse, a dessert was mistakenly placed on our table by a trainee and later charged to us--despite not ordering it. Thankfully, that was eventually removed. When I expressed concern about the unexpected charges, Orlando told us he spoke to the manager, but "there was nothing they could do." I asked to speak to the manager, he was more understanding and removed one seafood add-on--but the final cost was still far more than expected. In fact, I would have gotten more food for less money by just ordering both dishes separately. It felt like an upsell trap, and we left feeling taken advantage of. If you choose to dine here, ask for clarity up front on any substitutions or changes--or you may get stuck with a surprise bill like I did.
Beautiful rooftop restaurant. Miguel the GM was just a pleasure, so inviting and friendly. Orlando was our server. He was professional, informative and sweet. However, there were major snafus with our service. We sat down at about 7:35pm, had drinks and appetizers and then waited two more hours for our entrees. We didn't receive them until 10:15pm. I mean, can you imagine a wait like this?? There were apologies and we did get a couple bottles of rose champagne for the table, but this was pretty outrageous and it impacted our plans for the night. We were to go out afterwards but after being at the restaurant 3+ hours, we decided to just head back to our air bnb. As for the food and drinks, I had the guavalicious cocktail. It was so good, much like a rum punch with guava. I had the tamarind ribs with sweet plantains plus a Caesar salad. I split this with my sister's beef tenderloin over gnocchi. The meats were prepared well. Both were tender and flavorful. The gnocchi lacked seasoning for me. The plantains were delicious, though. My friends enjoyed their steaks. One friend ordered the red snapper, it lacked seasoning. Another friend loved her lobster pasta. All in all, the food delivered but the wait for dinner was horrific. We found out later that our server thought he ordered our entrees but didn't. People make mistakes but it really ruined our night. It should have resulted in a discount. We were initially offered a free bottle of water for the table until I didn't need more water. That was a major service miss.
I love rooftop bars and was so looking forward to this evening with 4 friends at Eter, had read that it had the best views in San Juan. Alas, the views were not good (very industrial area) and there was a distinct odor of exhaust fumes that kind of ruined our appetites and the atmosphere. The food was okay - shrimp cocktail was undercooked, some items needed salt/seasoning. On the plus side - the staff was wonderful. Sunny and Leslye were upbeat & personable as our hosts, and our server Sebastian was top notch. This review was no reflection on them. The drinks and service were great!
The view and vibes were nice when we first arrived but the wait time was crazy. Waited an hour for appetizers and another for main course just to be wrong. You'd also think a rooftop restaurant knows how to handle rain but they waited 15 min before giving us hand held umbrellas. They forgot one of my group member's drinks, messed up an order, and completely forgot mine. The steaks we received were lukewarm at best and my food looked nothing like the picture on the menu. I ordered the gnocchi with steak and the gnocchi was rock hard and dry. It also had mushroom inside which was never advertised!!?? Overall, it was gross and I couldn't even eat it. At least the waiter and supervisor offered 2 free drinks and a discount.
Reviews don't lie and I knew this going in so I can't be upset. Don't do it. Avoid this spot at all cost. The view sucks, and there pool is the size of my shower. when you do get your food (2hrs later)it's not even edible and the price ... no way. Haven't seen a place charge me two types of taxes. One for the food and the other liquor. Hard hard pass.
It doesn't open until the later afternoon during the week. They do have brunch options on weekends I recommend making a reservation especially for the evening. They close early on the evenings it's not open all night long so plan your reservation accordingly. The restaurant is located on a rooftop lounge and it is beautiful and lovely. 360 views of the city really capture the beauty of Puerto Rico. The services is fine, I did not try the food, their drinks are okay, I should've taken a picture but I was with the group of people and I pretty much just forgot. Pay attention to the weight limit on the elevator there shouldn't be more than four people we had six people in our elevator and it actually started making noise and sounded like it was struggling as it got to the top kind of scary for a second. This is where he put your makeup on curl your hair and look beautiful type of night . This is where you want to take those Instagram pictures. If I ever come back this will be a must stop. Poor review One of the worst dining experiences that I've had my entire time on this island and I've been coming back for over 5 years. I'm well aware of what fresh cuisine should taste like as I frequently visit five star establishments, this was not it . When I arrive for my reservation, I was greeted by no one. I then proceeded to sit myself watch two other guest, be seated and receive water before I have even received anything. Then after pointing out to what I later found was not the manager Jose that no one has seen me or greeted me. I stated that I would like a water. I still wasn't given one. Jose also told me he was the manager when I asked to speak with the manager. The girl at the bar was the most friendly part of this whole experience. Then when my omelette came out with cheese that wasn't even melted, that was the end of this experience and I knew I needed to get my check and leave. So for the nightlife, I can understand why this would be a popular night spot with all of the lights in the view, but for brunch, it was abysmal. I'm going to leave pictures of the food because I want someone else to judge whether I'm just being super picky, but I've seen better omelettes at IHOP. Also as nice as the bartender was her two drinks weren't even strong but they were tasty. I definitely give this place 1 out of 10, and the 1 is for the view. Of note: when I mentioned to the person that told me they were the manager Jose, that I was unhappy with the omelet his response was not to remake it to my liking. His response was well we still have to charge you. I also booked my dining under open table with a reservation. He cancelled my reservation in the app so I couldn't write a review on the open table app. This manger and establishment is slimey. Don't spend your money there!!! The actual manager Miguel stands behind this horrible behavior.
This place came highly recommended and I concur. First you must have a reservation for this place. They do have valet parking for $7. Not sure if there is other parking, we didn't look. The view was great, being able to see the city. Our waiter, Leonardo was amazing and not only gave great food recommendations, but also places to go after dinner. Dinner and drinks themselves were delicious. We had two appetizers, Chicken Fricassee Croquettes and Filet Mignon Steak Taquitos on Crispy Dumpling Shell that we really liked, the crispy dumplings we ordered seconds of. Of the main courses, I will say the risotto was a little salty and the salmon was a bit dry. Can be pricey, so be ready to spend. I LOVE any mofongo from PR and this DID NOT disappoint! Mofongo can often be very dry but this was not the case at Eter. The drinks were also top notch. The service was okay. Our server took a little long to bring our things out and just didn't seem very attentive. He forgot to bring our ketchup when we asked. He was really nice though and answered all of our questions thoroughly. The ambiance was such a VIBE! We did get rained on while we were seated on the rooftop but luckily they also had an indoor area. The restaurant is sitting on top of a residential building so that was a bit different. read more

Beautiful views mean nothing when service is lackluster! Came here for a birthday brunch with my best girlies and while the vibes were A1, the service was a C+! Because ... - Half my party didn't receive their food at the same time as others (thankfully I was unaffected lol) - Tracking down our server was impossible - Server refused to take accountability for delivering my friends APPETIZER instead of her meal 45 minutes late I will say that the food was pretty good -- I can vouch for the tostones, salmon, and dumplings. However, the red velvet waffles (pictured) were a little over cooked. This may be due to the fact the kitchen is like 5 floors down from the rooftop, and staff seem to be super stressed coordinating cooking and delivery upstairs (the elevator is SUPER SLOW). Overall, the vibes and views made up for the iffy service (the manager ended up comping us for the late food), and I enjoyed taking bomb pics on the beautiful rooftop. I plan to visit PR again, but if I come back here, I'm going back for drinks only, since that was the only item that came out in record time. read more

We wanted to have a nice date night while in San Juan and ultimately chose Eter. The rooftop was beautiful, there was actually a full moon that night, and to our surprise a rooftop pool. I had my mouth set on the whole snapper hut they were out so I went with the skirt steak and mofongo. I also had a rum punch and the guava & cheese turnover. The main dish was good but a week later I'm still thinking about the dessert. Our waitress was really nice and even took photos for us - my only complaint would be how long it took to get her attention or to come back to our table sometimes. read more

I went here twice because I was staying at the hotel the restaurant resides in. Overall the food was pretty descent but the drinks were better. The plating was good. The customer service was excellent and the hotel pool is in the middle of the restaurant which is a good and a bad thing because I got some good picture while I was drinking lolz. Th restaurant decor was descent but what took it was the beautiful view of San Juan. I definitely recommend for a date night!! read more

Definitely worth it. Make a reservation or you probably can't get in. That's the first thing they asked when we walked in. And the way they flip the tables between customers, this place is busy and might not accommodate walk ins. Temperature checks done at the door. Sanitizer stations are located throughout. The view is amazing. Go early to take it all in. The passion fruit Mojito should just be called a juice because there was no alcohol in those Mojitos. I did enjoy the fresh flavor. The small plates left us wanting more. Cheese dip was so tasty. We asked for seconds to go to the hotel. The drunken mango shrimp was made to perfection. That brandy and mango base was just yummy. Now the main course, salmon with malanga mash, was not impressive. Salmon was a bit too salty and slightly over cooked. No biggie, we ate. Staff was nice. A lady we presume to be a manager came by later to ask how everything was. When we mentioned the salmon she said she would give us something to make it up; shots she said. We waited like 15 minutes. Never returned lol. Nonetheless, good meal and good times. read more

The rooftop views, the drinks, the FOOD, and our server were the best! We had passion fruit mojitos, yes plural, because they were so good! I will say they run on island time so you have to be ready to wait. The drinks came fast so we sipped while we waited for the food. The tostones with ropa vieja were so good I almost forgot to take a picture. Don't get me started on the seafood fettuccine pasta! WOW. Calamari, mussels, scallops, and shrimp?! It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend tried it and felt instant regret that he didn't order the same. The lobster risotto was good, but not jaw dropping. We had a reservation and were seated right away. It was about 6:30pm on a Wednesday. Make your reservation because all of the tables were filled by the time we left around 9pm. read more

The food was absolutely amazing, every dish was so delicious as well as the drinks. I ordered the seafood fettuccine to eat and to drink the guava mixed drink. The view was stunning even at night! Our waiter was also really attentive and informative. Definitely going back. read more

My second time here, and perhaps my last. I ordered the steak with the gnocchi and it was okay, not bad. I had an issue, however with the drinks. The drinks tasted like they were just water down/filled with a bunch of sugary stuff in order to get you to order more. I actually hate when restaurants do that or when they don't pour enough alcohol into the drink. Thus the overall ambience of the place is beautiful. They have a pool up there, a Bar, and then all the other spaces for people. I think it would be smart for anyone coming here to definitely RSVP before because I can easily see on a weekend that this place gets packed. You can definitely get a beautiful view of San Juan from where you're sitting as well. Which hearing the lovely sounds of the coqui frog. And another shocking surprise to me was how good the octopus was and the tostones. If anything there, what really saved this entire rating from not being a two. They were delicious and they were season to perfection. Overall, I think we ended up ordering two octopuses. The Tostones were delicious as well. That were stuff with Ropa Vieja. And stuff very well I might add. Otherwise, after two visits, I think I'm pretty much good and ready to explore so much other restaurants in that area. read more

While visiting Puerto Rico I decided to try Eter based on a TikTok review. The restaurant is located inside a Ciqala hotel, once inside off the elevator you're greeted with neon lights with bush backdrop perfect for pics! We were seated right away, the view of the city at night is beautiful, there also is a pool by the bar but only for hotel guest. We started with drinks and apps, which were good, drinks could've been stronger. I recommend the filet mignon tacos, ropa vieja tostones and the drunken shrimp, all delicious! Our main course came out just as we were finishing up the apps, perfect timing! Here's what we had, "Pan seared Branzino", "fresh Salmon, ask for extra pumpkin sauce it's amazing! and the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce chefs kiss! The service was good, our waitress was attentive plus the views, I'll definitely be back! read more
When we got there they were rinsing off the floor so we were climbing over the hoses. Unfortunately they had an issue in the kitchen and had a very limited menu. The pasta we had was pretty good, but was not looking to have alfredo in Puerto Rico. We tried almost all of the flavors of mimos and they were genuinely delicious. The passion fruit and tamarin were the best ones. The vibe is great for photos. There is a mini pool that is great to take photos near and a sign with some greenery to take photos in front of. We really would have appreciated some umbrellas it was so hot on the roof top and the sun was making the experience a bit uncomfortable read more

Visited this restaurant while on vacation with my girlfriend. First the ambiance is amazing on the rooftop. One of the best rooftops in San Juan. Our server was amazing. The food was very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The drinks were nicely crafted. The only reason for four stars is the wait for the food. However, it is worth the wait. Overall this is a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend if you visit San Juan. read more

It was raining the evening we went so we had to eat inside. I am sure the experience was not the same as it would have been. The food was good, the dessert the best part, but the atmosphere in there was just odd. I can't explain it well in words but we were ready to leave. The mixed drinks were small! Even a double looked like a single. So that was frustrating. Our server was nice enough but a bit odd in that he argued with us over silly things; such as, whether the hot water one of us ordered was actually hot enough. The food was good though. read more

Pretty nice set up but it does look bigger and better in pics. The service was very nice and quick, they do add 20% tip for parties of 5 and more and only one check is allowed. The food was very mid and was not hot when brought out. Wouldn't go here again but there is a nice view while u eat. I also ordered a strawberry mimosa it was pretty good. read more

This place was all that and then some. Gorgeous views, good food, and great service. We both had chicken and waffles and it was delicious. We ordered a bottle of champagne Bc what is brunch without booze. The prices are affordable. The only downfall is the elevator. Since it's in a hotel it can take a while to pick you up, but it's worth the wait. Add this to your list of places to dine while visiting this amazing city. read more

I came to Eter for a rooftop vacation date night. The rooftop view was nice, but it started to rain once we got there, so they moved us to another location on a lower floor that was covered. This secondary place was still nice and had a covered outdoor area with a view. Not as nice as the higher view, but whatever. I ordered a lucid dreams cocktail to start. It was pretty smooth. You could taste the alcohol but it wasn't crazy or anything. For food I had the baked chicken with rice and beans and a side of plantain. The chicken was well seasoned and portioned, but it was the slightest bit undercooked, as was my dates salmon. The plantain was a bit dryer than I'd like personally, but it was still decent. The service was good as well, no complaints there. I recommend this place if you're in town, in terms of food and vibe, it's a good time. Food: 7/10 Drinks: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Aesthetics: 10/10 Value: 8/10 Overall: 46/50 read more
