I've gotten good treatments here. The problem is the front desk staff's lack of knowledge and…read moreconsistency. Every time I deal with them, I have to anticipate problems or advocate for myself. I bought a package and planned out what I treatments I would get over the course of six months, and the front desk lost the plan...twice. Prescriptions were sent to the wrong address. I once emailed with a question about extending my plan and never heard back, only to be told *I* made the mistake not knowing that the person I emailed had left the company. (I was also told that there was no way for them to know that I had emailed and there's no system for forwarding emails sent to employees who have left, which is utter B.S.) Other times I've called and tried to get help on something basic, only to get a "we won't do that " from the front desk -- I had to go to management for something that should have been an immediate "sure," especially for someone who had shelled out thousands of dollars for a "membership." Front desk staff has also shamed me for not doing all of my treatments 1x/mo (my life was total chaos -- major move, death in the family, job upheaval) and basically said I'd compromised all of my treatments by not doing them once a month. (It seems to have gotten better, but for awhile, the attitude from the front desk was really, really bad. Distinctly unhelpful and borderline snarky.) Then there was the time I went for one treatment and only realized after they'd pulled the machine up that they'd pulled the wrong machine -- they hadn't looked at my treatment plan. Then once I had a really painful treatment, only to be told AFTER the fact that I should have been given the stronger numbing cream, not the weak numbing cream. (Why have two? Why not just give everyone the strong one?) And once when I got botox, I specifically asked that the injector do it the way the previous injector there had done it (I didn't want too much botox), but there were no records or notes on what had been done before, and the new injector shot me up with far more botox than I needed or wanted. So, fine for the treatments themselves, but the place is far from a well-oiled machine in terms of management. You have to be super on top of them and expect them to fail. You have to ask them to keep records and look up records. You have to ask them explicitly to tell you how to prepare for treatments -- they'll just space on telling you. I get the sense that even the women doing the treatments know that the front desk/admin is hopeless.

When entrusting your face with someone else, you want to know they're going to be taking your best interest into consideration: not just throwing the kitchen sink at you for your money or having to balance 18+ patients a day. Here is where Tala has been different: * the process: extremely upfront and honest about the current waitlist *and* the financial investment. From the jump, they are transparent that if you want to be seen by Dawn (owner) it will be 4-6 months. They also provide an estimate of a typical visit - I won't be quoting because prices shift but there shouldn't be any surprises after that initial email. * the prep: you send over photos so that Dawn can take a look prior to your appointment and recommend next steps as well as cost estimates. They're tiered into priority 1,2, and 3 which makes it easier to understand where you might start. It is also helpful if you are wanting to save up for certain procedures to know that timeline. For people looking for a more rapid timeline (wedding, event) they can "speed up" the process but if you're flexible than the slower paced option it helps to break up treatment and costs as well. * the space: the thoughtfulness placed in every single corner of Tala is incredible. The aesthetic is a dream, polished but also warm and inviting. You really feel like you're stepping into a place where transformation is happening - from the art to the lighting to the friendly atmosphere and people working there. I know that sounds cheesy but it's true! The vibes are immaculate as the kids say. It really feels like an oasis of self care. * the staff: Suzie at the front desk starts things off and is so organized *and* sweet. From there the staff made sure to keep it real and talk through things like filler blindness and the importance of not focusing on one thing that you hyper-fixate on. Their approach is a slower, gradual process where you are comfortable with the long term vision. Timelines are clear and expectations are a priority (after care, when to expect results, bruising, etc). There's a low pressure, open vibe which I very much appreciated. That being said, being transparent about what you are looking for due to the prep photos helps to make sure everyone is on the same track proactively. Appointments are not rushed and the appropriate amount of time is booked to allow for it to be a discussion vs the instant injection I've experienced at other chain medspas. * the TLDR: Tala is exceptional. There is a reason that their wait list is long - they are doing something a lot of people aren't able to do. The expertise and knowledge is unmatched, and good things are worth the wait. The wait list is shorter for the other injectors who were all selected and hired by Dawn and share the same demeanor and bad-a** talent. I would not recommend getting lip fillers here…read more While Jen was friendly and personable, the quality of work I received was unacceptable. I had "virgin" lips and went in for my first filler appointment. During the first session, something felt off. There was a lot of excessive poking and discomfort, and within two days my lips appeared as though no filler had been placed, except for significant bruising. I was told to massage my lips. My lips were distorted, uneven, full of migration although I followed every step correctly. My lips were so ugly. I had beautiful lips prior too going to Jen, I just wanted enhancement. After raising concerns Jen suggested I returned for a second session for correction. Second session the results were worse; noticeable lumps, heavy bruising, and again no visible enhancement. At that point, I lost confidence and chose to seek correction elsewhere. I later consulted with another nurse injector who had to correct the Jens previous work. She remained professional but did indicate that the technique appeared inexperienced. Hearing that confirmed what I had already suspected. This experience completely changed my perspective on cosmetic enhancements and was both physically and emotionally disappointing. Being personable is important, but skill, precision, and experience matter far more in this industry. Proceed with caution.
