I've had great experiences with Eureka in the UTC and SDSU locations, and last nite was no exception. Went there to meet a bud from out of town and then go to a concert at the SDSU OAT. Pro tip; look for parking on-street by the Trader Joe's and then walk around, saves a coupla bucks. Got great seating from the hostess, lovely day outside but stayed in, big doors opened and the A/C on. Kai was our awesome server, took great care of the four of us and really made the time great, we're much obliged! Food here is killer, drinks are great, do the happy hour burger if you can and they also have another happy hour 9p - close. Can't go wrong, whatever you get - I'll be back for more! read more

The place had a great patio and the music was nice. They have good happy hour and our service was nice. However, after already eating part of my burger I realized there was cheese on it so I scraped it off. I had also ordered the gluten free bun and ended up with a regular bun. Since I haven't been here before, I didn't realize that until after the fact. I am both dairy and gluten intolerant. Went to Eureka by SDSU on a Monday for lite lunch and the appetizers were all sooo good. I loved the open air design and service was super quick so that was great. Not pictured, but I got their wings naked and hot sauce on the side and Eureka wings are now my favorite! Truffle fries were bomb. I tried both old fashions and don't bother with the regular one! Go for the Whistle Pig old fashion!! It's a quality whiskey already but their blend was really well with the bacon and not much more on price than the regular old fashion. You get to pour the whiskey from the ceramic cow figurine, which was a nice presentation. I'll be back to have a full meal!! read more

Gnats gnats gnats...the little fruitflies were all over our area and were extremely distracting and gross. The service sucks, which is par for the course at an establishment like this. Nobody wants you to be here, they all act like they want to be elsewhere. The prices are way too high for the food. Portions were inconsistent. Ordered 2 burgers and one came with a good handful of fries while the other came with just a few. DO NOT ORDER an in house made drink. The ginger limeade was disgusting! And at $5.50 is ridiculous. Music was way too loud in the restroom. Drinks took upwards of 15 minutes to arrive. Their specialty cocktails were extremely sweet and expensive!! The burger (lettuce wrapped - somewhat) was very good as were the sweet potato fries (get the honey on the side.) The firecracker riblets were okay, I would probably have preferred a BBQ sauce preparation instead of buffalo wing sauce. Be careful, though, because there were small bones that broke apart. I should have asked for the smoked cocktail we didn't drink to be removed from the tab - they are a young staff so be mindful. She was a wonderful server, however! This place is great. Burgers are excellent. We had 3 different kinds and all good. Jalapeno egg was my favorite. All fries were cold. Wait staff was around enough when needed. Anyone who know me know that Eureka is my spot. Having just moved back to the west coast, getting to go back to Eureka has definitely been a hi-light. This location did not disappoint. The outdoor seating is beautiful and the food is definitely both aesthetically pleasing and flavor packed. I typically get the jalapeño egg birthed but this time around I got the spicy chicken sandwich. I'm not a slaw person so i took that off and just added lettuce and onions, highly recommend this and the sandwich in general. If you're a fan of heat also get a side of the aioli that comes on this sandwich, mix it with your blue cheese and enjoy the ride. Can't wait to go back and try their burger the next go round. Oh, San Diego, we are so easily duped by a cool patio, an attractive staff, high ceilings and wooden fixtures. Its like smart folks study our dining habits and make these spaces to get us to dine in. The issue is food quality and execution. It's just not good. This company scaled quickly and serves lackluster stuff. The burger had no salt and pepper. It lacked any and all seasoning and just tasted like lack. The fries were fine, but super mid. The kids burger was so dried out, my Son just refused to consume it. This was my first time at eureka. I am visiting san diego from tucson arizona and staying nearby. It was a five minute walk for me to get here, so certainly it was convenient. But wow am I glad I found this restaurant. Yes, the staff are a bunch of college kids but with a little help, they will do an amazing job for you. I sampled the napa chicken sandwich and it was excellent with a side of broccolini. I plan on returning in the next day or so to sample some other items on the menu. I'm giving it a 4 It's a nice bar and grille. The seating outside was nice. The heaters helped. I could be biased cuz we went on the NBA finals game. The ambiance is nice. It's next to a college so you will see a younger crowd. Definitely lively. The food was decent. I got the bone marrow burger. I wasn't expecting anything insane. Bone marrow just basically made it really buttery. A good buttery though. The herbs was nice. It had like a undertone of mushroom. Very earthy flavors. Not too strong. But a hint. Hard to pin point till I got 3 bites in. The beef Patty was nice and thick, medium burgers are always nice. The bun was ok. Nothing special. The only thing I didn't like was that my bottom bun was soggy, which means my burger was sitting somewhere and not immediately given to me when finished. Overall it was a positive experience. Came here for happy hour on a Tuesday with 3 other friends. They're really not known for their service and why I thought this time would be different was beyond me. We were sat at a table outside and it took about 12 minutes for the bartender to come and ask if our server has came yet which we said no to so she helped us out instead and took our drink orders. We had also asked for waters, but she didn't give us that until at least 15 minutes after we had asked. And this is an issue I see often whenever I've gone to Eureka, the glasses always look spotty and cloudy. We got cauliflower bites which were pretty good, it came with ranch but the portion size was not enough for two people. Their Brussel sprouts was really good though, I liked the glaze that came with it. My table had ordered a beet burger and the regular Eureka burger medium. It took about 20-25 minutes for the beet burger to come out and 30 for the Eureka burger. I wish they had a bigger selection of beers for happy hour, but for $5.50/pint it's pretty solid. read more

We enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food is presented tastefully in all it's greasy glory, with great options. However once we bit into our burgers we were surprised...they just didn't taste as amazing as they looked, for both of us. And for the price and the amazing look of the food we expected more flavor...not sure what was off but just felt like it was lacking. Good burgers and nice atmosphere, but took a good 10 minutes just to get seated as the young lady managing the entry kept disappearing and left us standing there (and yes she was well aware of our presence). Also had to track someone down to pay our bill. The Bison Burger was delicious and the grilled pepper provided the right amount of heat, but they were out of regular fries so I opted for the sweet potato fries, and despite my requesting no honey or cinnamon on them, they still tasted like they were made with cinnamon. The Fresno Fig Burger is always a great choice, as is the coleslaw for a side option. Mac n Cheese Balls are okay. Good selection of cocktails and beers & actually have a Happy Hour menu M-F (although it is pretty limited). The Lavender Iced Tea is tasty and visually, a beautiful beverage. read more

Couldn't get the TVs changed as they were "stuck" and a manager couldn't change any of them. Took 5-10 minutes to be acknowledged and place an order.
