I would rate this zero stars if I could. All of their locations are extremely unsanitary, things are left out, dropped on the floor, and the owners force the staff to put it back. I couldn't wait until I got down to the village to bite in a nice warm and toasty Le Waf after a long day of rolling down the slopes and getting back up with more pain and soreness added to my body! But boy I was disappointed this time. This is my second time going here I had a wonderful experience the first time back in April that I had to go back and purchase a second Le Waf because the first one was devoured after one breathe. So I thought it would taste exactly the same if not better but to my dimise it was horrible. The first Le Waf I got was under cooked and I try to tell the lady I would like it a little more crispy and she had the nerve to tell me that no its fine. I am not one to argue really so I accepted her statement and walked away to where my friends where. After the first bite I was not happy and even my friend who loves sweets was like "man this is not good" especially I was telling her how we had to get one all day long. I decided to walk back and ask for a new one. Kindly, the lady made me a fresh new one with no complaints. It was still kinda doughy in the middle perhaps I went on a bad day since the season just started maybe she needed more time to train her LE WAF skills to make it into a perfection lol I will go back next time and try it again because I am addicted to it when its done right! *$5/pop* read more

Frog Dogs are juicy, hot, and stuffed in a crusty french roll cocoon that keeps ketchup+mustard+dog in a tidy & delicious handheld masterpiece. Perfect meal on the go for a quick bite on the slopes while enjoying the summit views. Line also moves faster than the other eateries at the lodge, so walk past the endless queue for the turkey legs, the even more endless queue for the women's WC, and find the stand near the ski racks and hook yourself up with 12" of good eatin'! Northstar by itself is a decent resort (very posh if you're looking for a luxury riding experience). But other than the runs itself, my second favorite thing about Northstar? THE BELGIAN WAFFLES from all the EuroSnack carts. I'm addicted. And Northstar must know I'm addicted because not only are their waffle kiosks all over the village and at the base of the mountain - but there's a kiosk at the TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN as well. Now I can get myself a delicious waffle at every available pit stop while boarding. Why are these waffles so delicious? Because it's more like cake batter than waffle batter and you can SEE the huge chunks of rock crystal in the batter which melts into a great caramelized crust around the waffle once they're cooked. Best damn waffle ever. However, at $5 a pop they're not cheap (I think though, that if you get more they are discounted - cause I got 2 waffles once and it was only $9). But once you take a bite of these waffles, your mouth really won't be caring about what your wallet thinks. =D read more

Every time when we came to Northstar, we would come here to get their Belgian waffle. After skiing, this warm, sweet and crunchy outside but soft inside waffle just made the wonderful ending of the day! I would love to give waffle 5 star!! The reason one star off was because we tried crepe with strawberry and Nutella and they served frozen strawberry... service was good and fast. We will stick to just waffle next time. read more

This has to be the best eatery in all of northstar!! These carts are everywhere my friends and after a day or even before a day of snowboarding.. it makes the whole experience even more memorable. On every trip.. I absolutely HAVE to have a belgian waffle! The trip is just not complete without it. There must be drugs in this waffle because they are everso addicting.. it must be the pure chunks of sugar that are whipped into the batter and then are melted when placed on the waffle machine.. They hand you the waffle steaming hot.. fresh from the grill and each bite is filled with syrupy moistness! With each bite you feel you are going higher and higher in this ecstasy of sweetness. If you don't understand what I'm talking about.. you've never tried one. And believe me, sometimes one isn't even enough. Also, sometimes before I indulge my sweet tooth.. I order the french dog.. which is a hot dog but cooler! They take french bread and then IMPALE it with a this HUGE metal stake and then put ketchup and mustard with a juicy hot dog in the middle. It's a perfect snack break between runs. The bread can get a little hard and crunchy.. but just the concept is amazing.. you don't have to worry about the hot dog falling out from the bun and the condiments falling all over the place. Although I must warn you.. especially when you reach the middle of the dog.. the ketchup and mustard might come squeezing out all over you! Proceed with caution! The hot beverages.. Another way to end my day.. I usually get a hot chocolate from this place just to calm my body and nerves after an awesome day of boarding! Although.. there's nothing special about this hot chocolate.. it comes from one of those automated machines.. something about hot chocolate in the snow sitting around a fire pit just warms your heart. Buuut on my last day trip up.. being sleep deprived.. I ordered the mocha.. and I must say.. i don't know if it's the lack of sleep but this mocha was the best that I've had!! It had this wonderful chocolate spice taste that just made me come back for the second cup at the end of the day (I even passed up a drink at the chocolate bar to get this drink!!). Sooo.. I'm definitely a fan of this place!! Although i wish it was one of the cheaper places to eat.. you completely forget about the cost when you take a bite into the hotdog or waffle and drink the hot chocolate or mocha.. it makes a day of snowboarding taste just a little like a heaven. read more

Let me say that, the Belgian Waffle here is SUCH A TREAT after a day of snowboarding. Freshly made warm, crispy on the outside, slightly doughy and goey on in the inside, and chunks of sugar clumps in every other bite. At first, I thought it was undercooked with the sugar not mixed properly in the waffle mix, but do not fret, I do believe that this is how they were meant to be made. I went to Belgium last year, and this Belgian waffle tasted way better than the couple I tried in Brussels. Sugary and sweet, it's an absolute delight. It's a bit steep at $5 a pop, but you MUST try this when you visit Northstar! read more

The waffle is THE perfect thing to eat in the cold weather at the top of the mountain at North Star ski resort. $5 is a bit pricey for somewhat of a small waffle, but boy is it good. Look, the Le Waf is the only thing to get, but it's shockingly good for $5. It's a sugar and carb bomb, served crispy on the outside, warm and goey on the inside, out of a tiny shack right on the slopes. It's exceedingly easy to review this place, because they basically sell one product, and one product only (plus some basic drinks and so on, and I think hot dogs), and I love that product. This mini-chain (there are four of them on the mountain -- one at the summit, one at mid-mountain / the top of the gondola, one in the village, and one by the shuttle bus stop) are one of the draws of Northstar to me, compared to other Tahoe ski resorts. read more

Yum. What better way to celebrate a prosperous day on the slopes with none other than a snack from Eurosnack! There's 3-4 stands around Northstar. Le Waf is a treat! There are huge balls of sugar in certain bites, but the waffle is a perfect treat to keep you warm and cozy. Also, the french bread hot dog is pretty good. It's a huge dog tucked in a nice french roll and with your choice of mustard and ketchup drizzling inside. It's a bit overpriced but it is tasty and funny to watch them warm it up. read more

THE BEST thing after a long day of snowboarding! I took quite a beating on the slopes but the moment I bit into this amazing crispy on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside of a waffle, all the pain I endured disappeared for the brief 3 minutes it took me to eat it. It's texture alone was amazing but the sweet syrup on the outside was the cherry on top. After this wonderful experience in the cold, I'm sad to say it'll be a while before I'm reunited with this wonderful waffle :( read more

Located in The Village at Northstar, this little bakery stand was right next to the ice rink and in front of the ticketing office. After a long day of snowboarding/skiing, this place was the perfect spot to grab a delicious snack. For $5, your mouth will be treated to heaven as you take that first bite into their "Le Waf Liege Waffle." There will most likely be a line as more and more people become aware of their waffles, but the wait and frozen hands are worth it. Yelpers be warned, this snack will leave you licking your lips craving for more. I came in looking for a quick snack and ended up in a euphoric food coma with a $15 hole in my wallet! read more

Buyer beware. Do not let your kids buy something here unless supervised. Last season at Sugar Bowl my buddy and I gave our kids cash to go buy a Le Waf. Minutes later they returned upset that they didn't get one. They said that the cashier claimed that they hadn't paid after they stood around waiting for 10 minutes to receive their sweet treat. My buddy "cleared" it up pretty quickly. From then on, we educated our kids that they need to always request a receipt. Fast forward to later that season. My wife asked for a receipt after handing them cash. The response was that they don't provide receipts for cash transactions. WHHAATT? Last weekend, I requested a receipt after paying cash and the gal kindly handed me one. I just looked at it a minute ago and it reads "VISA" card ending in 2559. That's not us. I'm sure the rightful owners of that cc receipt would be pretty upset if they knew. Trust scale of Euro Snack Shack = 0. read more

Frog dog w/ mustard & ketchup may be the best fast food treat ever. Sure, when you are on a mountain, miles from other choices, everything tastes a little bit better. But Eurosnack, yummmm....Eurosnack is delicious. Take a good quality hot dog (contradiction in terms, perhaps), stuff it into a good baguette, cram in mustard and ketchup, and voila, a frog dog is ready to eat. Perfect for grabbing as you start the drive back to I-80. Funny hint - come when they are not open: have fun triggering the bear alarm - a fake dog. read more

We rolled into Northstar early in the morning and wanted nothing more than some coffee and a quick bite to eat before jumping on the slopes. We were disappointed to find out that Eurosnacks only had gas station quality "cappuccino" and "mocha" drinks (sugar water with coffee syrup, basically). No caffine was contained according to the attendant. Bummer. The waffles (I refuse to call them "le wafs" - it just sounds dumb and screams faux European charm...like Hagen Daz) were sickly sweet, small, and 'spensive. Last but not least, the menu and order procedure was misleading. We each purchased a waffle and drink, which to us implied the obviously listed "combo". Apparently, we needed to say we wanted the "waffle drink combo" or whatever it was called. Several dollars down the drain. read more

After a morning of falling on my butt as a newbie snowboarder, I ended up in The Village STARVING. For $12, I got a Frog Dog (a toasted French baguette with a really big hot dog sausage with optional ketchup and mustard), bag of chips, and a 20 oz Coke. Expensive but I didn't expect any less. The hot dog was good with the hot French bread. Should have ordered the Belgian waffles, though! I would have needed the carbs and sugar. They looked delicious and my friends raved about them. I was so excited to see the stand after a long day on the mountain as I learned boarding in the Northeast with Waffle Cabin but when I took the first bite into the waffle it was too dense! Prior to my Northstar trip, I bookmarked Eurosnack based on the great yelp ratings and all the pics posted here. This was probably one of the yelp biggest let-downs. My Le Waf was cooked to order but it didn't taste that great. i think there is caramelized maple on the waffle but it's way too sweet. The pics look much better than it tastes. read more
