Just found this awesome little place while on a halva hunt. The parking out front is fairly easy. The deli is light and bright with a really fun selection of pickled items, herring, frozen whole fish, and tons of herbs that are not in the big box stores. I didn't know the difference between pistachio, walnut and sunflower halva, but now I do! Loved the experience! read more

A fun little shop to venture in for snacks, food, items not commonly found. The haul: Poppyseed bread rings: a nice alternative snack if you don't want to go for salty pretzels; it has a subtle/light sweetness Condensed milk ice cream: there was caramel in the center so it tasted very caramely and delicious. Rosehip, hibiscus, herb tea: personally didn't like because it looked and tasted like cough medicine to me. They also have things that aren't European that are cat cocoons, pants, etc. just fun to come in and try a bunch of stuff. read more

I came in while waiting for a ride and am so glad I did - they have a range of Armenian, Georgian, Turkish, Russian and other European foods. The employees were friendly but let me browse. I hoped to find dried sorrel but did not - instead we left with the most incredible jarred soups, Armenian mixed pickles, dark bread, and a small handful of free candies for my kids. It's a small but well curated collection - I can't wait to go back for another incredible grocery haul. read more

I came here to get ajvar and pelmenis, and to try other imported goods I've never seen before. This place has a pretty good selection of Balkan items. Recently, the owner gave me and the other lady customers a chocolate bar each for international women's day. The expiration date wasn't for a long time too! I rarely rate anything on Yelp but I had such a positive experience at Euromix yesterday that I felt compelled to share about it. I was trying to put some jars of sauce into my shopping cart and one of them started to fall. I tried to catch it in time but it ended up still bouncing off my foot and landing on the floor with a 'crack' and a 'splat'. The red saucy mess was all over the floor. I apologized to the shop owner who quickly assured me not to worry. At the checkout counter, I again asked to please pay for the broken jar and he insisted that it was not my fault. Then he gave me two free chocolates. I was reminded of the power of amazing customer service. Instead of making me feel bad for my accident, he made me feel taken care of and at ease. Not only are the groceries here such delights, but the owner is a gem. read more

An Eastern European shop without any Jaffa cakes or the Polish knock-off "Delicje"? You're joking, right? The shop has a little bit of everything, but it's not filled to the brim with goods. Maybe because I went there a few days before the Holidays? Also, selling a box of Ptasie Mleczko (Bird's Milk) - light, fluffy marshmallows covered in a thin layer of chocolate - for $7 is *way* overpriced. The same product, in five times more flavors, can be found for about $5 in any Russian grocery stores in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of SF. Nothing else stood out price-wise, but I was there primarily to stock up on Polish sweets and was a bit bummed by the meager selection. read more

I've known about this store for decades, but this is the first time I went in. I was looking for some specific Italians cookies. They didn't have the cookies I was looking for, but I did pick up a box of Russian cookies. I have to say those Russian cookies are some of the best cookies I have eaten, lol (picture attached). If you've never been to Euromix, you have to go. Browse around, guaranteed, you won't come out empty handed. They even sell Russian butter. That will be the next item I pick up read more

Underrated shop on Piedmont that has some really unique and amazing things to try. A wall of assorted pickled goodies, meats, jams, chocolate, beer and wine are some of the few highlights for me. A great place to build a lovely Euro charcuterie board or pick up a bottle of Ukrainian beer. Great place to feel like you're "traveling" to a new country without leaving your living room. The gentleman at the front is also incredibly friendly and helpful. read more

Periogis ! Barooti Assam Tea ! Both of these I used to stop in San Jose to get at the local Russian deli because I could not find them here. So happy to find them just down on Piedmont Ave at this cozy well kept store - with friendly owners who will order you something if you can't find it. Come here to find all kinds of Eastern European specialties like mushroom barley or beet or pickle soup, rye bread, smoked fish, and all kinds of other treats I am tempted to try. Wow....the owners of Euromix go out of their way to get a fantastic mix of food and beer from a staggering number countries in Eastern Europe. I went there because I was looking for Polish beer, and I left with beer from Poland, Bulgaria,Ukraine, Montenegro, the Czech Republic, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and some Georgian soda, German and Lithuanian rye bread, and 2 varieties of perogi and Kinder eggs! They must use a different importer than BevMo, because all this Euromix beer, even in clear and green bottles was really fresh. What a score! The ladies running the shop were super sweet, snuck in a few freebies, and fetched me every Polish beer in the place. It's a hidden gem. I can hardly wait to go back! read more

Disclaimer - I am from a former Soviet republic, so this store and the women working there, and their 'offers to help' that many others have complained about, it does not bother me, and I find it cute. If you haven't been to Russia or other places in the region (and even parts of Brighton Beach), usually in stores the attitude is often cold and arrogant, so I welcome this change for once. I know I know, some items might be expired and overpriced. But since Geary street in SF is far, and I need to my Soviet 'fixes', I don't mind the prices. I get pickled tomatoes here, Russian sunflower seeds, and few other items. I like that there are jams and condensed milk from different republics, and you can make a choice based on your political affiliations :). Definitely could use some improvements. I am just happy it exists here in Oakland. read more

I love to just wander around, checking out such a huge range of bizarre little treats I've never seen before. As a vegetarian, I don't sample widely because I can't read most the labels and can't tell what is meat-free, but the sweets are fair game! Wonderful cookies, candies and pastries oh my! Not good for the WeightWatchers but so great for the spirit (and the sweet tooth). They also have an impressive assortment of Italian pastas, flavored syrups and pickles of all things. To top it off, the owners are incredibly sweet and enthusiastic. Don't come in when you are in loner mode - they want to shower you with love and if you are in a people-hating mood it can be annoying. But if you are in the mood to share the love, this place is heaven (a heaven that looks strangely like Europe) PS - I don't really see this as a deli, but rather as a store. I wouldn't head over for a quick lunch break. PPS - I'm not saying anyone that doesn't like the attention from the owners is a people-hater. I shop here because it's one of the only places I know in the east bay to get the treats I like, but I totally agree with some of the reviews regarding the customer service. Definitely very heavy handed. They will follow you around the store to recommend products to you, but I find this approach counter-productive. I'm not sure if they are doing it for the sake of customer service but it feels like they are trying to make sure that I don't steal anything. Also a lot of the prices are not marked on the items, which makes me feel like I'm being suckered when I ask how much it costs. Or that I'm being judged as cheap if I don't buy after hearing the price. Furthermore, if the price is marked, make sure that the price you pay at the register is the same that is marked. I've caught them a few times charging more at the register than the price says on the shelf. read more

Euromix is one of a kind. One step in and you are transported across the Atlantic. It makes the Cost Plus World Market seem so so amateur. Great selection of European goods, beers from around the world, fresh pastries, and candy to make your little one go ga ga. -2 stars for the constant hovering and in your face sales tactics. I believe you, I believe you when you say it is good and you can't buy it at Safeway. But I also like my five feet of personal space. I almost had to put my hands up and yell, "I surrender!" It was difficult to leave the store without being rude. But I somehow managed to inch my way out the door. Either buy something or don't come in at all. It's not worth the harassment. read more

I was inspired by Lise L.'s ROTD to finally check out Euromix, and I am SO glad I did! The owner was SO nice! She caught me checking out their selection of meats, salamis, and sausages. She spent the next ten minutes explaining all the different types of meats, salamis, and sausages and their origins and flavors and textures. She even gave me a Russian salad recipe that included salami, pickles, carrots, and I really can't remember the other ingredients. I think I was still in shock by her kindness and hospitality and exceptional customer service. Then, we moved over to the cheese section, and she spent another ten minutes explaining the various cheeses. After my free lesson on the various meats and cheeses, the owner disappeared for a few minutes. As I continued to check out the rest of their goods, the owner appeared with a sample of Lithuanian cheese, which tasted a lot like Havarti. Then, she gave me a sample of a Russian cookie. Both the owner and her daughter (who was working the cashier) were SO nice. I felt bad for not buying anything, but I will definitely be back soon. 5 solid stars -- for old world European charm, hospitality, and a unique array of gastronomic delights! read more

The "Euro" in the name is a little misleading, as this store is more focused on stocking Central and Eastern European goods. Very little of Western Europe is represented here. We shop here every few months to replenish our supply of yummy Euro products, but we go in, get what we need, and get the heck out of Dodge. If this weren't the only place in town to get the specific European products that we're looking for, we wouldn't even bother setting foot in here. You cannot show any signs of weakness by lingering or eying something on the shelves. They'll take that as an invitation to hover and tell you how special/tasty/wonderful/rare that item is. They either need to stop invading my personal space or start using some deodorant and mouthwash! read more

Went here looking for a snack because I can't resist foreign treats. Usually my experience has been a decent one, but I was flat out lied to one time. The women seem nice enough and I was looking through the food and I wanted something. I noticed, however, that the expiration date was yesterday. I asked about it and the lady said that Russia has different expiration dates, and that that date is actually the date they shipped it out. I'm a trusting person so I went ahead and bought like 4-5 of them. When I got home and ate one, it was stale. Maybe Russia really does things like that, but I was not happy they were all stale. I was introduced to Natasha and Lisa, owners of the store, by my friends. This store has everything I need for every day table and for special occasions. There are any kinds of European food. I cannot live without rye bread which is not so easy to find in the USA. Natasha always holds couple loafs for me as it comes on Tuesdays. Russian natural sour cream, vines, cakes and sausages are really delicious for any occasions. Beside of that you can buy handmade Russian souvenirs in the store. Welcoming atmosphere created by owners, a lot of helpful information about health, housing, and services around from Natasha and Lisa made this store small Homeland of Europeans. Thought it was a great find the first two times I went, but turns out it is very hit or miss. Items you fall in love with fail to reappear on the shelves. Consistency is a real problem here. The peroshkies are great but often not available. The beet pickles (which are great) are more often unavailable. than on hand. The store needs help in ordering and and rotating stock. Check the expiration date, on every item, as many are way past their prime. I wish they could get their stuff together. The sales lady is very kind and friendly, but it must be frustrating when customers leave empty handed. read more

This delightful little shop is sandwiched next to an Ethiopian and a Japanese restaurant, which is good since it's in a bad location for foot traffic near the upper end of Piedmont. The gals who run the shop are friendly and very willing to give recommendations about their wares. They carry mostly Eastern European foods, beverages, and accoutrements. They have Russian breads and pastries from Cinderella in the city, beers from most of the former Eastern Bloc countries, canned pickled things of all stripes, and candies of many varieties. The frozen coolers are stocked with pelmeni, pierogi, and piroshki. All I can say to this place is, DA DA DA!!! read more
