I had a very disappointing experience at this European Wax Center. My appointment was at 12:30 p.m. I arrived early after parking and paying the meter. I was told the store was on break until 12:30. I politely asked if I could wait inside since I had already paid for parking, but my question was ignored. A few minutes later, another customer arrived and was warmly told she could wait inside until her appointment. When it was time for my appointment, several other names were called before mine, despite my having been waiting since noon. At checkout, I expected the advertised first-time guest pricing based on how my appointment was booked. Instead, I was told I had to pay full price because it was considered my second visit. When I asked what the total was, my question was not answered. I was simply asked for my ZIP code and told to tap my card. I only saw the total after the transaction had already been processed. After leaving, I realized I had never been offered a receipt, so I went back inside to request one. When I returned, I could hear the front desk discussing me with the esthetician, including asking whether I had left a tip and how much it was. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, the conversation focused on my gratuity. I asked another esthetician if she could please ask them to stop talking about me because I had a question. Her response was, "What are you going to do about it?" I was shocked by how unprofessional that interaction was. The waxing service itself was fine, but the customer service experience was not. From the confusing checkout process and lack of price transparency to the way my concerns were handled afterward, I left feeling dismissed and disrespected. I will not be returning and hope management reviews the professionalism of the staff and the checkout process. read more

I was hopeful after reading the reviews, but maybe I caught them on a bad day...The wax specialist applied the wax in one giant, thick, messy patch and ripped it off little by little. So my bikini area, to my lips were all covered in the same strip. I've been waxing for 6 years and I've never had that happen. Granted, I hadn't waxed in a while so I expected some pain, but it was so traumatic to my skin I noticed I was bleeding before I left. They were nice so I still paid & declined a rebook. The place is not very clean. When I went into the room the wax specialist had me undress in front of her, there was no robe or blanket provided for my comfort. The room was freezing and I had to cover myself with my own coat. There was no numbing cream/spray provided before the service making the waxing more uncomfortable than it should have been. The specialist was nice and I feel she was doing what European Wax tells her to do. However the area was also not done well. The hair remaining is uneven and looks bad. There was also wax still left on me in multiple areas and was hard to clean off. I would never come here again. read more

My appointment was at 1:15, and I didn't see Sunny until 1:45. She rushed me in and did not tell me what she was doing. Before I knew it, burning hot wax was placed on my inner thighs, without her asking me if the temperature was ok or warning me. I told her it was too hot and not to apply more, and she pushed my hand away and applied another layer of burning hot wax. I was crying in pain when I left and my inner thighs are bright pink. I can't imagine what would've happened had I gotten more than my bikini line done. I've been to European wax center locations before and my estheticians always check about the wax temperature before applying, and they've never been 30 minutes late. Yosibel is a great technician. I only waxed once a year for vacation before seeing her. She told me that waxing more often will help my skin become smooth and it will be less painful. The European Wax Center of Bay Ridge is currently operating at limited capacity due to COVID. Customers must call or text the number posted to the door to confirm their appointment and enter (recommended that you arrive 5 minutes or less to avoid waiting too long outside). The venue inside Ives extremely clean and items are neatly stocked. Plexiglass dividers at each register/receptionist counter to ensure distancing. The receptionist was very nice and even acknowledged my "$10 off a service or product" discount. Had an appointment for my eyebrows with Ashley. I typically get nervous when getting my eyebrows done with someone new but I was very satisfied with the outcome! Ashley was very welcoming and friendly. She kept a casual conversation with me and ensured that I was satisfied with the results. She took her time with my brows and made sure to perfect them to the best of her ability. She kept my natural eyebrow shape intact and removed all of the pesky ingrown and tiny hairs. She was a gentle perfectionist and a pleasure to work with. Now that I have finished my wax passes and no longer need to go to this location , I can write this review . When EWC first opened it was amazing. The waxers were kind and professional. However at some point it just went downhill. Suddenly every waxer I liked was no longer there. I figured that since they were all so great I should take a chance and have a random waxer, and the experience was not a good one . She was rude and not gentle at all and just didn't care. I am not going to use her name but by looking at other bad reviews and you could take a guess about who it was. I called the front desk tic complain about it. I was not going to return but I still had wax passes to use. My last and final time having a Brazilian is the reason I will never return. I had used this person before and really liked her. However , when I got home after a wax , the back part of my underwear was COVERED in blood. The skin between the top part of my cheeks was literally ripped off. If the waxer had just told me right then and there , it would have been a little less bad. There is no way she could have not seen the open wound. My main issue is with the front desk. I called them to let them know and nothing was done. Nothing was offered. They just acted as if it wasn't a big deal which means this must happen a lot . At the point I told them my underwear was covered in blood and I was panicking they could have been sympathetic. You could imagine how painful it was that every time I sat , my underwear would rub against it and bleed again. This happened for over a week. Needless to say I will never return. read more

So, my waxer is Ashley, love her, she's very gentle and always gets the job done. I just want to say, me returning to get waxed, is because of my waxer. Today I believe it was the manager, did not like the way she dealt with my appointment situation. I was trying to see if I could get an earlier appointment (I was originally 12:30) and they offered me to come in at different times and I settled with 12. I was shopping in the area and came in at 11:53. Apparently they didn't update the system, they still had me for 12:30, 12 was my waxer's a lunch. So they told me to come back... which I wasn't gonna do. I'm pregnant, been out doing errands since 10 so I was just gonna reschedule. I just dislike front desk not being accountable for their mistakes in making appointment times and throwing it on me. A customer just left their appointment, and I was waiting to the side (for social distancing) so that I could reschedule, but while the customer is making her new appointment the manager tells me to leave and wait outside since I was not being seen. I advise I was waiting for the customer to leave and giving her space because I wanted to reschedule. (But my waxed switched my appointment with her break and accommodated me). It was just the way the manager talked to me, her lack of handling the situation and lack of taking accountability in her/or coworkers mistake. I was turned off and didn't appreciate it. It was my first time going here and of course I was nervous because my kitty was going to get wax for the first time lol When I arrive I felt welcome, it was a nice, clean environment. Point is my waxing lady Yosibel explained the process and told me to just relax, not to be nervous. She made me feel very comfortable meanwhile getting waxed. This place is dirty and disgusting they have rodents and mice very unsanitary. The bathroom is never clean always had toilet paper on the floor. The wax rooms are freezing cold. Terrible experience ! Upon my arrival I noticed the ASM was eating and drinking at the front desk. She was speaking loudly about where she was traveling to. The retail display area was unclean and products were unorganized. The shop floor was filthy with scuff marks and gum on the floor. The door glass door was dirty with finger prints. When I saw my technician I was assigned to Lima. She was recommended as the best! However, she talks unnecessarily and without end. The rooms are not sanitary and lighting is very dim. She applied hot wax on my eyebrows and ripped my skin off. I was bleeding alot. I rushed out to checkout. The ASM Kyle I believe was insisting I leave gratuity. Nothing was offered to stop the bleeding. Very horrible experience! This place is run down and filthy! The staff has no knowledge on customer service or have been trained efficiently! I walked in for a Brazilian with Dayanna almost two months ago. It wasn't my first Brazilian but it was my first time at this salon and with Dayanna. She made me feel extremely comfortable and it was honestly the least painful waxing experience I have ever had. Unfortunately the next time I went in for a wax also happened to be her day off. I have been meaning to write this review for weeks because this lady deserves some recognition!! The next time I go for a wax I'll be sure to book an appointment with her! Not that my other experience was bad, Dayanna was just fantastic. Update: I have a really hectic schedule so I can't always book with a particular waxer so I haven't been able to get Dayanna. Today I thought I was lucky enough to get an appointment with the European Wax Center By Ridge but I was mistaken. I usually go to the one on 7th ave or Montague street because they are nice and professional but because of COVID, they are all booked. I got there a few minutes early before my appointment. I followed the instructions on the door and waited as instructed. After 10 minutes ( just thinking they were busy ) they took a lady who came after me but realized the mistake and took me instead. My waxer was Yosibel. She apologized that I waited and seemed frustrated. She explained to me that the people in the front were new and she was the only waxer there. I said that was ok I understood. Then she told me I needed to hurry up and get undressed because they are going by appointment. Ummm this is not my fault that you guys were late with me. I continued to undress at my normal speed because again, this was not my fault. As she was waxing she told me my skin was dry ( I know this I am a cyclist and long rides are not your best friend) . I told her I knew but then after doing a few areas she made the comment that it was so dry she was really concerned. Now I was concerned. I said let me see and I tried to sit up after she took the wax off.. She yelled at me " NO NOT WHEN I AM WORKING YOU WAIT TILL IM FINISH". 1) She needs to never take that tone with a customer again. 2)Whose body is this? It's mine. I can look if I want. 3) Don't make alarming comments like that if you don't want a reaction. She then tried to talk to me about skin care ( to buy a product from them)but I was pretty turned off by her. She also kept complaining about how she felt like she was doing two jobs because the new girls in the front. You should not being telling your customers this. Very unprofessional. When I was done I was ready to pay and go. But the two new young ladies in the front ( especially Tiffany) was super nice. They explained to me the packages that they had and were very friendly, personable and nice. THEY ARE THE ONLY REASON THIS REVIEW GOT 2 STARS. Maybe they can teach Yosibel a thing or two about customer service and how to treat her customer. Not sure if she is always like this but I will never come back to this location. Loved the friendly and helpful receptionist but that was all. The woman that waxed me spoke to me like I was an idiot because I've been doing my own manicuring. I tried explaining that in the website it said I could get a Brazilian leaving as much hair as I wanted. She just kept saying you have a lot of hair and applying layer, after layer of wax & didn't care to hear what I was saying that I wanted. She literally gave me a baby triangle on the top of my vagina. It looks absolutely ridiculous! She also kept pushing products on me, saying well I'm just doing my job. Part of the reason why I liked EWCs were because of the standardized pre and post waxing steps. However, on two recent visits, the wax specialist failed to do the pre and post wax steps on both visits leading to incomplete hair removal. I had to go home and finish the job myself. It looks like a refresher training course is in order or they're just trying to save money on supplies. Very disappointed and hopefully it's not truly the same issue with all their wax specialists at this location. read more
