I had an appointment today at 10:45. I arrived at 10:50 due to extra traffic on Newport Blvd. The online paperwork states that if you arrive 9 minutes or more late, they may have to reschedule your appointment. When I walked in I was told that due to me being 5 minutes late, they could no longer take me for the 10:45 appointment. They had to push me back to 11:15. I waited and no one came in or left the facility. I expected to be taken in at 11:15 but at 11:25 (10 minutes past the new appointment time) they were "running late" and not ready for me. This is extremely unprofessional. I ended up leaving at 11:30 without having the service done because I had to be somewhere else at noon. Due to the unprofessional front office and the fact there were no other people in the center, I would not recommend coming here. read more

I love this place! I moved so it's a longer drive, but I still keep coming back. Everyone is friendly and lovely and they make you feel really comfortable, which is hard to do when your private bits are up in the air! I was nervous before my first Brazilian and the front desk person who scheduled it couldn't have been more helpful. She was very matter-of-fact, put me at ease, and helped me know what to expect. This was my first time at this location, and it was a fantastic experience! Emma was wonderful: professional, yet personable, making me feel comfortable throughout the entire process. This location is SO unethical. Please be warned. I will never use this company again. I was quoted $34 on the phone, then they took it upon themselves to wax other parts of my back that didn't need it (I have fine baby hair that you can't really see), without telling me there would be additional cost. Then the front desk charges me $101!!! The ENTIRE back is only $80! But they charged me $34 for middle back, $34 for upper back, & $33 for shoulders (which I just shaved yesterday)! It's ridiculous... they were waxing NOTHING! Total non-disclosure, total opportunism. Don't go to this location. Even the manager at the other location I usually go to, couldn't believe it. Alma the waxer was good; however, the girls working the front on 12/31/24 (specifically the one with the curly dark hair) was very rude and pushy. As I was about to pay, she placed her iPad in front of me and starting talking about a membership, of which I quickly told her no thank you, I'm not interested. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. I decided to book a wax here because the LadyGang podcast speaks highly of them and I realized they are right down the street from me. I made an appointment last week for today at 9am, which was confirmed at the time of booking. I also received another reminder email yesterday about my appointment today. I arrived at 8:55 and the doors were locked so I figured I must be the first appointment, no big deal. 9am comes and goes, 9:10, 9:25...I finally realize no one is coming? I called the shop, left messages, everything. Very, very odd and unprofessional to not keep track of your appointments and clients. First time here and my service was done with Sara R. I got an entire face wax with Sara. She was very attentive to the wax and asked if it was okay or too hot. She made sure I was comfortable as your skin on your face is sensitive and I have very sensitive skin. After the wax, she also asked if I was okay with tea tree oil or if I was allergic to scents. This review is for their receptionist and two waxers. The receptionist was not interested in listening to my needs. She spoke over me in what seemed like an effort to get me on the books as quickly as possible in a concrete way. Her manner of appointment setting would have limited me to a single service, "We only have time for 1 service". Apparently, the waxer had only 30' openings surrounding a sprinkling of other appointments, and not enough consecutive appointments for the multiple services that I needed. Rather than help to book three services as close as possible, she wanted to enter three appointments this way: being waxed from 9-915, wait an hour and a half until 1045 and be waxed again 1045-1145. I would have been there a total of two hours and forty five minutes. Instead, I reiterated that this was the only day I had available, and that I didn't live nearby, so having the services rendered the same day/ as close to one another as possible was my goal. I was ultimately booked for 9-915 with one waxer and 915-1015 with another waxer. I expect to be there a total of 1.25 hours instead of 3.75 hours. During our conversation I mentioned that I did not want to visit the same waxer I had seen on my previous visit because she had left so many hairs on me on two different services she had performed. The receptionist seemed to brush this feedback off as a complaint against her rather than use the opportunity to address this with the waxer for future services performed on whomever. The review on the first waxer is just that: she left so many hairs that I had to take tweezers to myself and ultimately just wait for my next appointment to take care of the hairs left all over my arms and Brazilian. It is frustrating to pay so much money and endure pain for unfinished services. I went with Jamie because she had good reviews on Yelp, but I disagree with those after being serviced by her. As a waxer, she was inadequate. The second waxer is no longer there, therefore I will not name her. I saw her for several months before I couldn't take it anymore. She persistently used our 1.25 hour appointments to talk about conspiracy theories regarding child trafficking, adult trafficking, spreading fear about travelling related to r@pe and d3ath, and those types of topics. I did not feel comfortable and didn't know how to respond. I was grateful for her services as a waxer, but she did not create a safe atmosphere and I ultimately had to begin a search for a new waxer. Unfortunately, finding a good waxer takes research and first hand knowledge. It's similar to finding a good dentist. It is important to feel safe and have the service properly carried out. If these two basic things are not fulfilled, it is time to look for a new professional who is appropriate and effective, not inappropriate and negligent. read more

The waxing service is ok, it depends on who do you get. It is really inconsistent. The big problem comes when you get a package and they tell you it never expires and you pay for it and that's it you're all set. Let me tell you that you will have problems, after the winter break I tried to used the package and they wanted to charge me before even having my waxing done $95 of something I am not sure and they are not sure of what it was. The lady in the front desk wasn't really helpful, I went home really frustrated and without being able to get waxed. I don't recommend buying any promotion at the European Wax Center. I normally go here and everything has been good. The last time I went i got there 5min early and waited for my time. 15 minutes after my appointment i tell the front desk that if she is 5 more minutes I am leaving. I am not waiting 20min after my appointment for just lip and chin. Then she offered someone else to do my wax...why did i have to wait 10 minutes and she didn't even offer that. Also the waxed who was probably trying to make more money with an up sell should have more time between guests to do so. I think her name started with an S. Came here yesterday for a Brazilian and was helped by Olga. I don't expect the tech to be cheery and giddy but at least be nice a little bit. Although she worked really fast and was for the most part as painless as it gets when doing a Brazilian pulled some of the strips slow causing some pain and after the pull would press too hard causing more pain. Barely wiped off excess wax off and smeared the serum. After getting home to clean up i noticed a whole section with hair and wax. I understand the need to go fast but at least make sure you got the excess wax off especially since there was hair still there. So much for the touch up pieces. read more

Elsa is the BEST! I've been going to Elsa for about 2 years. I would highly recommend her for any wax service. She alternates technique based on what you are getting waxed and what type of hair you have. My hair is extremely light on my legs and she has to use several techniques to get it smooth. It's a process but Elsa treats my legs with care and gets those light hairs out. I've gone to Elsa for everything from head to toe. I love that she keeps my eyebrows thick and beautiful. People who want the perfect shape brow should go to her!!! I've been using European Wax Center all over the country for 6 years. This location is my favorite by far. I have been coming this location (Costa Mesa) for over a year now and have always loved the staff here. Very friendly and kind. Yesterday I went to get a service done, my waxer did an amazing job!. However the receptionist Tonia was not as friendly as the other staff. She was not attentive to her work, when I checked in with her it seemed like I bothered her from being on her phone while she was sitting at the front desk. Her body language and verbal language is rude. Then on top of that, after my wax service I checked out with her and also scheduled my next wax. I wanted to confirm with her that I wanted to schedule a Brazilian and underarm wax as well and she looked at me with a horrible stare and told me "well I'm yeah that's what I'm doing". Very rude, like how would she know what I wanted to schedule if she didn't ask, and when I only got serviced for underarms today. I was very upset but I left it at that and went home and then I got a call the next day saying that she did not charge me for the service and she made a mistake and accidentally charged me on someone's else's account instead of mine. We kept playing phone tag because apparently no employee knew what was going on but Tonia. So eventually I got a hold of her and she explained what happened. I did not appreciate her at all. I know mistakes happen but for someone that acts the way she does with people and has the body language of customers checking in bothering her does not seem acceptable at all. I am not sure how she ended up mixing up my account with someone else's account, perhaps if she paid attention to her work and listened for who she was charging, this inconvenience wouldn't of occurred.
