They kept my car for a long time without making the repairs correctly. My car was returned with parts promised missing and other parts not put back. The shop's exceptional service, particularly communication about the repair status, has won me over. I'm now a loyal customer and will recommend it to other VW and Audi owners. The reason I brought my car in wasn't cut and dry. I wasn't sure where my oil leak was since another shop fixed it but determined it was still leaking. Bringing it to this shop, where the only vehicles they work on are VWs and Audis, instilled confidence in me because that's all they work on, and their expertise is unmatched. I dropped my car off around noon, and they had a loaner ready for me. The shop first performed an extremely detailed analysis to determine the cause of my oil leak and make other needed repairs. Then, within a few hours, I received a text with an estimate of what was checked and found and a full estimate with color pictures of what was found. I opened the estimate, and David, my service advisor, called me to discuss it. I told him to go ahead and get started and to complete the air filter and throttle cleaning that needed to be done. David told me and showed in the estimate what the other shop failed to do or did wrong. Throughout the week, while my car was being serviced there, they sent me text status updates about what was occurring and when they expected my vehicle to be completed, and they responded to texts with questions. Honestly, I have never had such a good service experience anywhere else. The service labor rates are reasonable, considering the expertise you are receiving. The communication was incredible. I am now confident that my oil leak has been fixed correctly and won't be causing me problems any longer. I will most definitely be back, especially for VW-specific maintenance and each of my annual services. Be prepared to wait for an appointment. It was two weeks between my first conversation and the appointment date. They are a small shop with not many mechanics, but they are worth waiting for because they are so talented with these German cars. As I was leaving, the shop's commitment to customer care was further demonstrated. They assured me that they would follow up the next week to check on my car's performance. I regret to say that my recent experience with Eurowerks, particularly with an employee named Glen, was far from satisfactory. I've been here before and spent a lot of money on my car the FIRST time was the only professional time. Despite seeking their services a third time , I was met with unwarranted hostility and a refusal to assist, seemingly motivated by personal animosity towards my decision to chose another establishment due to a better quote. After choosing another company to simply fix simple some problems , I then reached out to Eurowerks again to perform a carbon cleaning because of my first experience with Eurowerks. That is when Glen refused my service . What for? I don't know you decide . Suppose I had been a new customer ?? Would they have refused service cause my car had been to shops before theirs ? My attempt to engage with Eurowerks for their services was met with unexpected resistance from Glen, whose unprofessional behavior suggested a disregard for customer service standards. read more

I took a struggling 2014 Passat to them for help and after extensive upkeep on the car it worked great for about two weeks at a cost of $4000 and change. Then my radiator went out due to pin holes or loosened junk from the prior works flush. It worked fine but then I needed a new radiator at $1500. The throttle was replaced at the prior work which was great. But now the exhaust gauge doesn't work and according to their "computer" report it was fine but within days the gauge was broken. Glenn's advice was that I was running the wrong grade of gasoline. That didn't make sense then and was patronizing. He wouldn't book another appointment either even as the engine light remained lit. Apparently, I needed to run the car a bit and "let the engine clear itself" again with the patronization and subpar advice. Since my engine light remained on I took the car elsewhere and it turns out the exhaust gauge is broken - exactly how does the gauge just break. At this point - I either have a junk car which is not worth fixing because one fix leads to another and another or this group found a sucker in me. Positive - I needed help and received "some" good advice. Negative - it's clear there is no accountability of their missteps as they may inadvertently or knowingly create other problems as they worked on the car. I personally will never return - I appreciate the help but loathe patronizing suggestions especially with a growing lack of transparency or honestly about the reality of fixing an older car. UPDATE: after reviewing other negative reviews/experiences - there is overlap, which is highly suspect. I too was missing a splash guard from under the car (no pictures provided) to the tune of $200. I really hate to think this group is acting unethical but ... there is something slightly off with Eurowerks. As for their prices - the labor costs and parts costs are the same as the dealer. Thus, not a savings. I was so hoping to develop trust and help with my car, but did not happen. read more

I took my '04 GTI here for a variety of repairs that were a result of age and a poor timing belt job by a VW dealership in Chicago. I called a few independent VW mechanics after moving to the area and Eurowerks seemed the most promising after a phone call. I brought my car in for a diagnostic service, where the fee was then applied to final repair charge. The mechanic I worked (Emad) and office staff was responsive via email and they also have an integrated text system to help manage your appointment. The mechanic(s) found a few broken critical sensors, old engine filter(s), and re-sealed the valve cover gasket/timing chain tensor. My engine and VW worked like new after this particular service. They also found a nail in a tire sidewall, rusted tie rod boot. After I bought new tires, I took it back there to not only replace the tie rod, but also get a wheel alignment. All of this was not cheap but when maintaining an old car, it was great to work with a mechanic that actually delivered on their recommendations! They also gave me a $5 Starbucks gift card and bonus points for being close to a WMATA station! read more

Thorough, knowledgeable, great communication, and they understand the many quirks and oddities of VWs and Audis. They provide free loaner cars as well! They use OE or OEM parts which I appreciate. If bargain hunting for lowest price repairs, go elsewhere, but you do get what you pay for. A shop on the cheap may be replacing your components with Auto Zone stuff and I guarantee they will not have a loaner for you. If you own an Audi or Volkswagen and live anywhere in NoVA or the surrounding area, you would be foolish to take your car anywhere else for service. We have a 2006 GTI and a 2009 Audi A4. Initially I took the GTI by, because the CEL was coming on. I forget which mechanic consulted me, but he took the time to explain the various possibilities and what each option would run, as well as how they'd determine the root cause. All for free. Then I took the Audi in for service because I needed two tires replaced. They bought the tires from TireRack.com, charged me the Web price, and mounted them. The best part of EuroWerks is they charge fair prices for their work; very often much less expensive than the dealer. I was quoted $780 for front brake pads from an Audi dealer; EuroWerks quoted much less for pads AND rotors. They also follow up their work with a list of recommended upcoming repairs / preventative maintenance, and the costs so you can budget, shop around, etc. All of the staff are friendly, and David takes time out to explain everything, show the work that needs to be done or what the issue is, and why they think what they think. Compared to other garages that don't care, or dealerships that were indifferent, and ones that were clearly cheats and liars, EuroWerks was a breath of fresh air. All the work done to date has been at or below estimated cost, done in the timeframe said, or less, and done very well. read more

We've been taking our vehicles (Audi and VW) to EuroWerks for over a decade, because in addition to always doing excellent work, they've always been a model for great communication and courtesy. Whether it's a routine oil change or difficult ot diagnose problem, they take care to understand what your vehicle needs, and explain any issues that crop up and the options for resolving them. Nothing can describe the immense amount of pleasure in finally writing a 5-star review on a business that deals with Audis. Background: I have had 3 years of BS service with Audi dealerships since I've moved to the DMV/East Coast. Everything from a dealership in Delaware who claimed they changed out my brakes but didn't (hello, lawsuit...they annotated info from another car and gave me back my vehicle untouched) to another that tried to not only charge me for a service they never conducted (this is after they gave me my vehicle back and asked me to come back to pay for a service--HA!). So to tell you I am so relieved there are mechanics that I can trust who will do an exceptional job and won't up-charge me and screw me over is a MEGA-plus. Hell, they even fixed small things like my liscense plate holder that was missing screws as a courtesy and a liscense plate light bulb. At an Audi dealership in the area, they probably would have charged me a grocery bill for every turn of the wrench. I was notified about the status of my vehicle and was asked permission about each and every service my car needed before the start of work. Everything was explained to me in full detail, an email with all the necessary vs routine maintenance work detailed in a way that is clearly written, in order of safety and priority and makes sense, itemized/priced so there was no shady hidden charges. They were patient and very responsive to my emails and phone calls. Yes, I realize this is what you're supposed to do...but good luck getting that type of thorough customer service from any Audi dealership in this area. I support this honest business and it's impeccable customer service and if you're reading this Eurowerks Crew, you are the best. Seriously "you da real MVP". Called to find out about getting an estimate to replace my clutch and was told that I would be charged $104 for an hour-long "diagnostic" to find out "all the issues your car has." Sorry. That's not what I asked for. I can get a free "diagnosis" and esitmate at the dealer, and quite frankly, just about any other mechanic. I finally received an estimate by email on Monday and then was called on Tuesday morning asking me to retract this review because the owner saw it and that it took a long time because there was a "lot of stuff". True, there were a lot of items on the list that I called about, but the fact remains that two other mechanics got back to me that day and one of them ended up fixing the car by Friday. I explained to the gentleman who called me that my wife didn't feel safe driving the car and we went away last weekend so we needed the car fixed for the trip. He said that if I had told him that he would have gotten back to us earlier, but I shouldn't have had to given a sense of urgency. Not only did two other shops get back to me within 24 hours with the same list of concerns to price out, the car was fixed before I ever heard back from Volkswerks. To borrow from one of the other reviewers, the tone was "surly" and the guilt trip I received about writing a negative review didn't help. Instead of "I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you, what can we do to get your business?" it was "Hey, you asked for a lot of stuff and we're busy. I got in trouble with my boss, so take down your review." (not a direct quote...I'm paraphrasing how I interpreted it) Even offering to take a look at the car without charging a diagnosis fee for the non-emergency things we did not get fixed elsewhere would have gone a long way in making me willing to give them a shot. read more

I brought my car in for a check engine light diagnostic and repair. The service advisor with whom I spoke was quite nice and I had no trouble getting a same day appointment. I can't speak to the repair service as I thought the Volkswerks estimate was outrageous- at least 20% more than the dealer. The reason for the one star review is due to something some people may find trivial but that really irritated me. A few days after picking up my car from Volkswerks, I noticed they put one of their license plate frames on the front of my car. I think this is absurd. They didn't ask if they could do that and they certainly didn't give me a break on the diagnostic charge (which was an outrageous $225+). Why should I give them free advertising???? read more

If you don't drive a VW, you can stop reading now. But if you do (and good for you!), and you aren't already a VolksWerks customer, please pay attention. This is the best repair shop I have ever dealt with. That's saying a lot...who hasn't had at least one bad experience getting their car fixed? Their biggest plus is they tell you straight up what is wrong with your car, how bad it is, what caused it, how they will fix it, how much it will cost, and how soon you need to get it done. And they manage to do it without making you feel like a stupid person because you aren't car-savvy. These people are just nice, bottom line. They are friendly, they return my calls promptly and they take their time on the phone to make sure I understand exactly what work they're going to do and why. And they've repeatedly saved me money, compared to what I would pay at a dealership. On several occasions I've brought my car to them with a laundry list of things the dealership told me I needed to get done, and they've given me the real story. Lines like, "Yes, you eventually need to replace xxx part, but honestly, it's not that bad yet, and you could probably get another year out of it." I have been a customer for three years, and in the dozens of times I dealt with them, I have come away more than satisfied every time. Even though I live 20 minutes away, I make the drive because I know I can trust these people. First off, I've never been to a car repair shop that put its own license plate frame on your car without asking. You can't please everyone. After reading all the high marks for this place and before writing this review I can say that I regret taking my VW Passat here. Every year when it's time to get some service done on my car, I call Volkswerks to get an estimate to compare it to the dealership. I have never had my calls returned. I decided to give them a shot only because they offered a fair price after I asked my husband to do all the correspondence with them by email. They lack in customer service on the phone, and when I dropped off the car, no one looked me in the eye. It's great that they give you a loaner, but they don't take good care of them, so why should they take good care of your car? I drove around in a beat up Jetta for a day and returned it only to find out they put a defective engine speed sensor in my car and I had to drop it off again after the car had trouble starting for two days. Ok, so we all make mistakes, so I brought it back and asked for a loaner that was a bit larger for my babe's carseat. Got an Audi A6...with a flat tire I had to pump later that day! Aggravated, I had to wait an entire 4 days (including weekend) to hear anything about my car. We called them for an update and they didn't get back to us by the end of the day like they had said. What good is a company if their word isn't? Another point I should mention is that they don't have your paperwork on file, so within the two days of my recurring visits they had shredded my initial paperwork, leading to excess waste of paper and time by filling out forms. I brought in my loaner agreement contract hoping they would just alter them but I had to go through the entire process again, leaving me frustrated. In the end I might have saved more money but I didn't save any time and that's something I won't get back. When I picked up my car for the final time, I drove home and the automatic rear window was off the track. They said it wasn't anything they did, and maybe it's a sign that it's time for a new car, but I take it as a sign not to take my car back there. read more

I tried all the Audi dealers in the area & finally talked with a fellow friend who had an Audi & they recommended Volkwerks. Much better than a dealer but still an auto repair shop. How come you always feel like you are getting ripped off??! However, Volkwerks will tell you what is wrong & actually discuss with you whether you can wait or it should be done immediately. Their hourly rates and parts are a bit cheaper than the dealers (approx. 75%) They know that they do quality work & are honest so I keep coming back to them. I would rate 5 stars but they have no weekend hours. Everybody has to have some time off from work. read more

How a service shop should work. Friendly staff, honest and service done right. Dropped off my car for an oil change and it was ready right when they said it was (1hr), the price was a few dollars cheaper than the VW dealer and they washed the car too. Really happy with my first visit to VolksWerks. I was outsmarted trying to replace a sensor on my A4 and got the job half done before running out of time and patience. Deciding that taking it to a specialist might be a good idea for a half-completed job, I had it towed over to Volkswerks. Within 10 minutes they had it fixed, charged me a Very reasonable amount to do so, were courteous, helpful, friendly and honest. And most importantly, were very familiar with the car and knew what they were talking about (rather than the last place that took 4 days to manufacture the fitting to hook up thier transmission flush machine, but that's another story for another yelp review). I'll be using them exclusively moving forward. read more

I picked up my Audi last Friday after having Eurowerks do some major repairs and service. My car now drives better than it did when I bought it. I know little to nothing about cars except that some things were very wrong with my car. I researched and picked this place over taking it to the Audi dealership and I'm glad I did. They gave me a detailed estimate and diagnostic thing which I had my sister (who is surprisingly knowlegable about cars) look over. She agreed that everthing looked good and I had them start the work. I was especially happy with the fact that Eurowerks gives you a free loaner, which I really needed since the work on my car took a full week. The loaner was certainly not much to look at, but it ran great. And it made me realize that I really do love my car. They called me this morning to make sure everything was ok with my car. It's not often that you find an honest repair shop. Actually it's mostly never. My search came to an end yesterday, as i needed service to my 2002 VW Jetta. I previous owned a 99 Jetta that i used to take all the way out to Maryland to Wheaton Service Center because they were the only shop i trusted with my VW. Unfortunately, that Jetta bit the dust in an accident and i got another one that like most VWs are riddled with issues. This one i thought probably wouldn't make it out that far, so i needed to find a shop closer to my home in Virginia. A friend of mine recommended Volkswerks... I called up and spoke to a gentleman by the name of Bob who i found out soon after that he was the Manager. Bob is very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the cars that his shop services. I made an appointment and came in a week or so later. I had spent way too much money at a few other shops who will remain nameless in Virginia for stuff i was promised would fix my car and didn't. Bob went out of his way to make sure that i didn't get shafted again and cut me a very reasonable break on diagnosing my car. Not to mentioned, offered me a COMPLIMENTARY LOANER CAR so that i could go to work and come back later. HOLY CRAP!!!! This is a repair shop? Can't be. No one is as nice and attentive as these guys. Not to mention if you rep their License Plate holder on your car you get a discount. I saved $15 bucks yesterday! Unfortunately, my trans is just about done for. I don't know how much longer i'll get out of my car as i can't afford a new trans, but what i do know is that for all the maintenance in the meantime.. I'll be visiting VolksWerks. I'm calling on every VW driver in the state of VA and even DC, bring your car to these guys, you won't regret it. This place is great. Honest and candid advice, and no Upselling. My wife has a 2002 vw cabrio that has more than its share of issues. Eurowerks gave me a a good estimate, which came out pretty expensive. However, they gave me advice on what needed to be done vs what could wait, which I ran by a mechanic friend who said all the advice and prices were dead on. I'm in the army, so it's sad knowing one day we'll have to take our car somewhere else. But for now, our call will always be going to eurowerks! read more

I decided to try Eurowerks after another German car specialist and our regular car repair folks both told me I'd need to spend over $1000 to fix a malfunctioning headlight issue in Audi S4. The guys here took a look and diagnosed a different source of the problem and were able to fix it at a fraction of the cost. Besides the Audi expertise, they offer an excellent and friendly receptionist, text/phone updates, and explain everything. This should be business 101, but lots of auto places just don't get it. Oh, they also provide loaner cars which is a huge plus. They just earned my future business. read more

The difference between a dealership and a ma and pop like volkswerks is evident in so many ways. First of all, the level of customer service. The people at VWERKS are friendly, helpful and genuinely pleased to have your business. Try getting a smile or small talk at the dealership - it just doesn't happen. Secondly, and most importantly, the service. VWERKS doesn't try to up-sell you on things you don't need. They are honest about the condition of your car and tell you straight what you need to do now and what can wait. I've had 3 VW TDI's I've taken to them, and they are the only ones I trust, other than myself, to work on my car. I recently took my TDI beetle there for a look-over. I needed an oil change, and they threw in a free vehicle look-over to see what, if anything needed worked on. What they didn't know is that I had already taken it to a dealership and looked at it myself, so I had a good idea of what was wrong with it and what could wait. The dealership had recommended a load of repairs that I knew were not necessary. All I needed was to have the filters cleaned out or replaced, but the dealership was trying to get me to replace the timing belt and brakes - things I knew didn't need to be replaced. So, I took the TDI to VWERKS and let them have it for a day. Sure enough, they recommended replacement of the filters, a flush, and that's it. What's better is that the final price was about $130 less than what they quoted me earlier that day. That's right. LESS. When does that ever happen in the real world when you're dealing with auto mechanics? NEVER. The most important thing - my car runs better than it has in years! They really take care of your car at VWERKS. It's not like the impersonal dealership where you're just one of a hundred people they see that day. I live in downtown DC and there are very few things that get me to drive to the burbs. This is one of them. If you have a VW, stop wasting your time with the stealership. Yeah, VWERKS lack of weekend hours might be a pain, but trust me, it's well worth it in the end. At VWERKS, you can really tell that they value their customers. Their work is first-rate and they know what they're doing. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. read more

I had my car serviced in January and I am taking the time now to write a review in support of VolksWerks. The reason why I am not giving 5/5 is because this was my first experience and I can't say I am convinced that it was the very best service ever. With that said... I was pleased with the customer service and pricing. You have to make appointments and it may take some time to have your car fixed but they are a small business and they get filled up because they do good work. However, in my experience they gave me a loaner car (free of charge) and I had my car back to me when they said they would. I appreciated the fact they didn't make me feel like my car was in the worst condition ever and I was going to wreck if didn't get other recommended services (in fact they pointed out which repairs could wait). I drive through the notorious NOVA traffic to have my Volkswagen repaired there. It's worth it! read more

I just dropped off my car upon starting this review and would like to express my appreciation for a business that at least presents itself as caring about your needs. This is an extremely rare thing for an auto mechanic these days. Just finding an honest one is like a diamond in the ruff. For now, my review is based on the preliminary process of consultation and drop-off. I will submit a completed review after I get my car back. I called Volkswerks off the recommendation of a friend. They were very kind over the phone and were up front about the anticipated diagnostics costs and what to expect about the service. I brought my car in two days later for an appointment. The lady I spoke to at the front was very kind and a pleasure to speak with. They offered to drive me to the metro and the man that brought me was equally respectful. Whether they truly care about their customers or not is moot at this point, but from the way I was treated initially I left with the feeling that my car was in good hands and no one was looking to rip me off. They called me to offer a consultation and estimate on the price, were careful to clearly walk me through all of the details, and even got my car inspected for me once the work was done. I was able to get the car back a day later and ended up paying $25 less than the cost of the original estimate. They were polite and helpful from start to finish. I've been a customer since 2003. Eurowerks continues to get my business because they are honest, transparent, customer oriented, and just all around great. I postponed trading in my high-milage Jetta for a long time because Eurowerks kept it in very peppy shape AND because I didn't want to "break up" with Eurowerks while a new car was under warranty. What a wonderful place!! Had my Audi A5 towed here after it became undriveable after a car wash. I originally had it towed to the dealership - they did nothing for a week and constantly gave me the run around (long story). They fixed the problem in a day for $130, far less than the $600 Audi quoted me to just "take a look". Gave me a great estimate with detailed notes, were in constant contact with me letting me know what was happening and when. No complaints at all. I needed new keys for my VW GTI (fob/switchblade key) which is typically only available at dealerships, since it requires special software to program. I called several dealers and shops for price comparisons, and EuroWerks was the best deal and had good reviews. They gave me a great price, completed the work quickly, informed me of other issues that might need attention soon and also cleared a passenger airbag code for free (not an actual airbag fault btw... it is a stupid bug in VW electronics that does not clear itself when resolved). EuroWerks is a great place to have work done. I brought in my '06 Jetta to have an estimate done to compare to the VM dealership and they gave me a better price and I went ahead and have everything they recommended done and my car is running so much better. Really happy with their quality of work. This is the only place that I've had work done that has called me every step of the process and let me know how things were going.
