My husband and I agreed that dining at Eva's feels like going to a family friends house. As soon as you walk in, you get that welcome, homey feeling. You can tell that they put a lot of pride into their food and restaurant. During this visit, we decided to split a few dishes. We got the Polish platter, potato pancakes and polish gnocchi with garlic and bacon. Everything was delicious and our food came out quickly! Eva's is also well known for their desserts and they display most of them in a glass case near the front of the restaurant. I never had grandparents growing up... But this restaurant and the meals definitely made me feel like this would be Grandma's cooking and a touch of a grandparents' home. And on my father's side I'm polish and Lithuanian so I definitely enjoyed all the Polish decorations and art.. He used to cook more of European Flair so this cooking definitely reminded me of him. I ended up ordering their special pierogies that were garlic and cheddar cheese topped with bacon and sour cream. Also cabbage soup which was just absolutely delicious. And for my main course I ordered the roasted pork dinner. Fresh herbs pork and vegetables in a broth. Served with real mashed potatoes. Had some time before catching a flight and decided to stop in for a bite. I ordered Potato and bacon pierogis with sour cream and Placki Ziemniaczane (potato pancakes with sour cream). I was very excited to try them based off of the reviews. They were good, but not the best that I have had. Hearing about this place numerous times but finally getting a chance to test it out firsthand was an absolute treat. Polish cuisine might not be on the top of a lot of folk's mind to eat but if not or if you've always been interested in trying it, I strongly suggest Evas. Four of us went out to dinner the other night with each of us getting something a little bit different. The intent of this was to try out a variety of entrées. Let's start with the red cabbage salad. Very fresh, shredded red cabbage, carrots, red onions, and apples. They mix this with a light dressing and it's super tasty. The potato pirogi is topped with onions and butter and served with some sauerkraut. Plenty of food here to fill just one person. We ordered five Golabki's. These are cabbage rolls stuffed with ground beef and rice and topped with their homemade tomato sauce. To me these were the best of all the entrées. The Bigos (hunters stew) made a strong case for the second best meal. This has kind of a stew type make up with sauerkraut, sweet cabbage, kielbasa, beef, ham, bacon, mushrooms and onion. They cook this in tomato sauce. Unbelievably fantastic tasting. Finally there was the mushroom croquettes. These are breaded crêpes that are stuffed and mushrooms and onions then folded over and fried. The creamy mushroom sauce provides a fantastic flavor to the croquettes Inside dining and outside dining are available. I strongly suggest the outside dining. The back area is completely surrounded by fence, trees, and vines completely blocking the surrounding views. read more

Beautiful place. It has a nice old-school Eastern European vibe, I love the knickknacks on the wall. It creates a great vibe. The customer service is excellent, this is clearly a family owned, and more importantly a family run place. The owner seems to have personally made the cookies. Went for lunch with friends on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was busy but were seated right away. It's not my first time here but my first time rating it. I love the homey atmosphere of the restaurant and the way they pay homage to their polish heritage. This is Syracuse's only polish restaurant that I know of so if your craving polish food here's the place to go. We ordered the standard cabbage rolls and pierogi ( potatoes and cheese) and they were delicious. My friend also ordered some kielbasa ( which was grilled and tasty). Our server was very attentive. Eva's is a teeny restaurant right on Milton St in the Village of Solvay. I've eaten here several times over the last four years and I've never been disappointed. It's an excellent date night (or day date!) restaurant with creative cocktails, beautiful desserts, and a romantic atmosphere. My favorite dish is the cabbage rolls, they're so filling, and the cabbage is perfect. Almost like eating pasta. My partner says the pierogis are the best he's ever had. Just got the original potato ones, and the filling I think had a little bit of herbs in it, and just made it delicious! Also really loved the potato pancakes Hungarian style! That meat sauce is delicious and has a nice little kick to it. The one dish that was not a favorite was the hunter stew. It was not bad by any means just a little heavy on the sauerkraut for my family's taste. Also had the cherry cheesecake and the fried apple cake. Both very good! What a charming place for Mardis Gras. We came for the traditional Polish Packzki (jelly donuts). We stayed for a very fun lunch. Starting with the monthly special cocktails, Bees Knees (gin, honey and lemon) and Passion Potion(raspberry and vodka) we were very satisfied. The Perogies and the potato pancakes as well as the Greek salad and the house salad were all delicious. Fun Polish decor: glassware, paintings, even a Guy Ferare ate here poster. We ate in the front room at one of several tables for two. There were also a couple larger tables. The bar is in the front room and was filled with trays of Packzi. Two other rooms, one small and one larger held the busy Mardi Gras crowd. Service was excellent. This was a great spur of the moment decision for us. We will definitely be back. read more

That delicious aroma instantly hits you as soon as you open the door. The phenomenal decor was honestly one of my favorites. The space drew you in and instantly made you feel comfortable which is rare these days. We perused the menu and decided on some pierogis with some sauerkraut and kielbasa. For dessert an apple cake. I can not tell you how incredibly beyond delicious these flavor profiles were. Everything was carefully thought out and just no other words come to mind besides shear and utter perfection. We've gone to quite a few restaurants in and around the US, by far Eva's is in my top 3 restaurants of ALL TIME. If you're a polish food connoisseur, or simply just want to try , this is the perfect place. It's in a neighborhood and can tell it was a former house that was converted to a restaurant. Its family-ran and has roots to Syracuse University, which is what brought me there. It's about a 15-20 min Uber ride from downtown but definitely worth the wait. My classmate and I had a polish five course meal and was treated to some free dessert. Everytime I visit, this is a mandatory stop for Syracuse. Just by chance I stopped in to Eva's on 4-25 for lunch. My heritage is Polish and I missed my 'soul' food! I was overwhelmed by the friendliness of the staff, the décor and the menu!! I had the cheddar and bacon pierogis and the sweet cabbage soup and OMH they were to die for!! The pierogis were done to perfection and the soup -- well I wish I had ordered more. Of course I had to take the golumpki home -- beware if you ordered them -- they are HUGE! And the potato pancakes and of course dessert! On a recent Wednesday afternoon I found out unexpected company would be joining us for dinner. It figures I was planning a "leftovers" night... I happened to be in Solvay and started to meal plan and then a realized where I was. Since my company enjoyed Polish food, Eva's was a perfect choice. A server nicely greeted me and when I inquired about ordering food to go they were very helpful. I placed my my order and sat at the bar enjoying the soup of the day (which was delicious), while I waited for my order. 20 minutes later I was on my way with enough food to feed an army (we had a ton of leftovers). I was able to reheat everything in the containers the food was packaged in (everything reheated nicely), plated everything and served it like it was just made. The pierogis were well made, with a lot of filling, latkes were flavorful and not greasy (they sent me home with applesauce and sour cream), sausages were huge, flavorful and well cooked and the golumpki were tender with a lot of flavorful filling. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary you need to eat at Eva's. It is a cute space decorated with Polish pottery. They have plenty of tables for you to dine in, a bar to sit and enjoy a Polish beer or a meal and don't forget to leave room for their homemade desserts! read more

I'm sick of writing reviews that are all, "This is pretty good for Syracuse." That's just obnoxious to write, and yet, it's often my feeling. Eva's kicks ass, and is the most delightful place I've found for pierogi, bar none (and I've looked all over). The staff is hella friendly, and will happily mix and match from the wide variety of pierogi available to ensure that you'll get exactly the meal you want. The rest of the Polish specialties are pretty damn solid, as well, (bigos FTW!) but I always wind up going back to the pierogi. My potatoes could have used some more salt. My boyfriend got the Polish Platter which I recommend if you want to try a little bit of everything. We've never had Polish food before so it was a good option for him. For everything we've heard about the place, I guess I was expecting some sort of wow factor. We enjoyed the outdoor seating ambiance and the service was good.
