Evasion Oysters and hot honey lemon pepper wings
    Courtney H.

My best friend and I had an 8pm reservation but ran a little late--no problem at all. The staff was super accommodating, and the vibe inside was intimate and beautifully designed. We had the Evasion oysters and wings--both were fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. Shoutout to our server Dana for being so attentive and keeping our drinks coming! I'm not usually into hookah, but this was hands-down one of the best I've had in CLT. Already planning to come back with my fiancé. Highly recommend

Ok this officially is in my favorite place. My Barton in the night was Montana 10 out of 10 best mixologist I know in Charlotte she's super super personal, very professional and well knowledge with drinks. He's very attentive and fast. Make sure you come see her. I came on a karaoke night in the vibes by the ambience was excellent and the surface was great. The food was also 10 out of 10.

Evasion Lounge has such a nice, sexy vibe! The full bar offers great drinks, small plate food items, and hookah--perfect for a night out. The music was on point, and the waitress was super friendly. Special shout out to the owner, Benny! My friend left her phone, and when we called the lounge, he personally retrieved it and brought it to our car when we came back. Amazing service and hospitality!

Nikki, was our host was super attentive. The bouncers were nice and not rude like typical Charlotte bouncers. The entire restaurant/lounge is a true vibe. The bathrooms were clean but could use some tidying. They maybe should invest in a bathroom attendant. It was a packed Saturday night and seating wasn't guaranteed so my guests and I decided to head to a different place but to our surprise as we were exiting the hostess stopped up and cleaned off a table. That gesture truly made us feel valued as first time customers in this lounge. I will be sure to make a reservation or try to arrive earlier. The wings were bomb we ordered lemon pepper and hot honey. The sweet potato fries are good along with the devil eggs. I ordered a shot but others ordered cocktails and they said that theu were prepared well. The hookah was equally good and they come around and change the coals without up charging. The DJ announced if you need a lawyer then Eze is the man to call! This lounge is good for groups or even a date.

First time visiting Evasion and what a great experience. Decided to sit at the bar at this new spot since I mainly wanted cocktails and hookah. The bartenders were very welcoming and the owner even stopped by to welcome us. I'm always a fan when an owner stops by to say hi or welcome. I ordered a mule with Bullet and pretty balanced not overly ginger like some places like to do. The decor here is top notch and pretty cool. I'm always a fan of the neon lights, they make for good pictures lol. I ended up ordering food and got the chicken skewers. I'm a chicken guy and happy to report the kitchen was on it. That chicken was so juicy and not dry at all. It came with rice and veggies which was really good. The rice was flavored and had a nice buttery taste. The hookah is a must have, i was very happy with the flavor and the smooth pull. I highly recommend Evasion, great first experience and I'll be back very soon.

I visited Evasion for brunch and had a good time! My friend and I were able to sit right down when we got there. The hookah was great, the drinks were great and I had the lamb chops and grits for my entree which was good as well. Our server was so sweet and nice. And the dj was playing the tunes too!

I should've gotten the waitress's name, but the service just wasn't great. I'm not sure if she was having an off day or if that's just her personality, so I don't want to judge her too harshly. However, she seemed uninterested and had very little energy or personality when interacting with us. She was also very monotone. Again, these are minor observations, but they did affect the overall experience. The biggest issue was how slow the drink service was. I understand that the mimosas are only $1, but I was there for about two hours and only had three. At one point, I had to flag down what I believe was a manager because we had been waiting so long for another mimosa. The food was okay. One thing to note is that they do brunch all day on Sunday so you're aware. The other issue was the parking. I was told they validate parking but what wasn't communicated is that if you stay past a certain amount of time, I believe around two hours or more? You have to pay an additional fee. That's something that should be communicated upfront. I actually had to walk up and ask the waitress if they validated parking (because she was no where to be found). If I had already been there long enough to potentially be charged, that would've been helpful information to know before getting to the parking gate and having the parking attendant tell me. Overall, I'm not sure if I'll be back. The $1 mimosas were a great deal, but the service and lack of communication took away from the experience.

It's tucked away in a business park near Lincoln's Haberdashery but signage is good. There is parking in the lot of the u-shaped building, but may be all taken at busier hours if the day. Street parking is available on E. Bland. They have a huge bar and amazing bartenders. I enjoyed my drink. Pretty and tasty. There's lots of seating inside, at the bar, booth and tables. The menu has really good variety I enjoyed pretty much everything I tried. So fresh and so good. My fav were the dips. If you order the whipped feta or hummus you get an order of the amazing grilled bread. When I say it was good, I mean it. Plating was beautiful on every dish. I appreciate the effort that went into not only making the food taste good, but also making it look good. Our server was great - really patient and helpful. He gave great descriptions and recommendations of the menu. The chef came out to greet us, everyone really went out of their way to make it a great visit. What I appreciated most is that the prices are reasonable - Something that is becoming harder to find these days, but that allows you to really enjoy the meal and try various items. That's what I plan to come back and do. I hope they get more media attention because this place is really is amazing.

Thankfully, I was out with an excellent foodie friend--which means we came quite close to having one of each. We enjoyed a delightful lineup of scallops--not what I expected, but exponentially better!--lion's mane schwarma, hummus, shrimp, tuna kofta, lamb shank, and the IG-famous baklava sundae. With each dish seemingly more visually impressive, delightful to all the senses, & DELICIOUS--the layers of FLAVOR that Chef Whitney & her squad can fit into a dish never ceases to amaze me--it was hard to declare a clear favorite. All I can say is the shrimp, lamb shank, & baklava are must-haves for me. All of this plus a complimentary shot at the end of the night of a craft concoction featuring house-made orangecello?!!! I am already beyond ready for my next visit! Pro Tip: 1 round of bread will never be enough for your hummus--get extra for dipping...into everything. Cheers!

My friends and I got the Crab Brik, Wagyu Burger, Shakshuka, and Avocado Toast. The Crab Brik came in little triangular wontons that were fried to perfection. I think real crab meat was used which is always nice. There was some aioli on the plate, but certainly not enough to dip with meal in. The Avocado Toast was recommended by our server and it was a top tier choice! It had chili dukka on it so everything from the eggs, sourdough bread, and avocados tasted very seasoned, despite the dish sounding a bit plain. They do not skimp out on the avocado here. My friend said the Wagyu Burger tasted good and I tried the Shakshuka (for the first time in my life) which tasted very tomato-y but still yummy with the bread! I think this is a cute place, especially for brunch. I would rate this place 4.5/5 stars if I could. I want to come back and try their dinner menu which has more food options.

The vibe was fun and welcoming, the food was outstanding, and our server went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and make recommendations. Our group tried the duck, steak, lengua, and carne asada tacos, and every single one was delicious. The duck taco was the standout for me--the crispy fried duck skin added the perfect texture and flavor. We also shared the Para la Mesa with sweet corn on the side, empanadas, and churros for dessert. The empanadas were incredible, especially with that amazing sauce that had just the right kick of spice. The wagyu steak from the Para la Mesa was another favorite, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. And I can't forget to mention the warm, fresh tortillas--they were absolutely delicious and elevated every bite. Sometimes it's the little details that make a meal memorable, and these tortillas definitely did. If I had to pick my top three items, they would be the duck taco, the wagyu steak, and the empanadas. A special shoutout to our server (I wish I remembered his name!). He introduced us to mezcal tequila, which none of us had tried before, and it ended up being such a fun experience that made our evening even more memorable. Great food, great service, amazing drinks, and a fantastic atmosphere--we'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, that's exactly how this meal felt. I ordered the street tacos with the papas bravas, while my boyfriend got the carne asada. The papas bravas were the coldest, most under-seasoned potatoes I've ever been served. For the tacos, I tried the duck and the carne asada. The duck was dry but edible. The carne asada taco, however, was practically a weapon against mankind--the most charred, burnt, and flavorless taco I've ever had. I could only finish it after adding some of the sauce from my boyfriend's steak. As for the carne asada entrée, it looked like two separate steaks had been pieced together into one. The center pieces were noticeably undercooked and inedible. The only standout on the plate was the reduction sauce. The potato pavé was simply... potato, relying heavily on that same sauce to carry the dish. It was a highly disappointing experience, especially since we were excited to finally try the "sibling" restaurant to Crunkleton and Rosemont. We genuinely enjoy both of those restaurants and have brought family there several times, but never had the chance to visit Puerta until now. Sadly, it felt like a waste of money. The aesthetic was beautiful, but that's about where the positives ended. One additional concern was food handling. Our bartender repeatedly touched her hair and face while wearing the same gloves she used to handle drink garnishes, which was disappointing to see. I truly hope they regroup, tighten up the execution, and improve the overall experience because there's a lot of potential here.
