Heard good things and decided to stop in, it just so happened I arrived during happy hour, which they do daily. I ordered the single American burger and an island tea, which is non-alcoholic. Drink was tasty and the burger was delicious. The happy hour version doesn't include fries. Bummer. I sat at the bar and was greeted promptly. My server took a little longer to come over but she was nice. The bar was a little busy for one person but it worked out. I found it interesting that as soon as my order was put in, the bill was placed in front of me. Not sure how they know you don't want to order more once you start eating. It also makes you feel rushed off the bat. But there was no pressure otherwise and the flip side is you can drop your card in and pay then be on your way. I've been here 3x now and each time it's been delicious! I would highly recommend the Coconut crusted jumbo sized shrimp as an app. I got the chicken and mango salad I would say that I was disappointed with how little mango was in the salad. They diced up the mango pieces so small. But the chicken was amazing. My husband got their Bacon Smoke House Burger & it was so dang good. The fries were good too. We got the Snicker Croffle for dessert, another delicious choice. The waiter did let us know the chocolate has a hint of orange flavoring to it. Which it did. I would prefer a more cocoa flavored chocolate on this type of dessert but it was still really good. The outdoor patio is gorgeous. Especially during the warmer months coming up! A beautiful, tropical place in Charlotte NC to shop or enjoy drinks and a meal anytime of year. Plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating and the Staff are fun and energetic. We tried the chicken and shrimp fajitas made with fresh ingredients and accompanied by the street corn dip it was enough for two to share. The drink menu offers a variety of drinks or they can make anything you want plus there is a huge bar with seating. Our favorites are the mai tai and Tommy Bahama margarita. Finally was able to try this place out. Went on a Friday soon as they opened before the crowds. Was greeted immediately by friendly staff and the waitress was awesome and friendly. But the food definitely was not impressive. The corn dip my friend and I shared was absolutely delicious but neither of us cared for the sliders or fries for the price. She got the burger and I got the Nashville hot chicken. Driest chicken patty ever. Was fried so hard, and it would have been nice if it was coated in some sort of sauce too. The description on the menu sounded way better than what you actually get. Two lil sliders, cold fries and one mocktail my bill was $32, for lunch, so don't come expecting to be on a budget. I don't mind paying decent money when the food is excellent, but it was definitely subpar here. Paying for the beautiful ambience more than anything. Honestly not sure if I would go back. read more

10 of us came here because we had no idea Tommy Bahama had a restaurant ! Very clean and nicely styled decor. The outdoor tables had pretty lights and live music. Not sure of the "theme" of the food because it had alot of taco/ Mexican items. I got the Mahi tacos ($17) and they were good. The side they came with was just chips and salsa. Not exactly a hearty dinner. This is more like a snack place to tide you over or a light lunch. I will say someone got the Asian tuna tacos appetizer and they looked very good. I got their key lime pie for dessert ($7) and it was very good. Their cocktails are small but pretty. The staff was attentive. Overall, if I was in the mall I might stop in again, but I wouldn't make any special effort. read more

I wish I had a better experience at Tommy Bahama. I met with a friend at the bar and we both ordered small plates. The wings were good and the elote dip was ok. It would be much better with house-made tortilla chips. I do love the bright and open airy-ness of the restaurant, as well as the live music. What tanked this experience for me was the lack of attentiveness by the staff, we had to keep flagging folks down, no one checked on us at the bar -- that and they were fighting with each other! Well one of them was, and I mean audibly swearing and agitated with a coworker. That really just left a bad taste in my mouth, especially because I was getting content for a known food publication's newsletter, but I do hope others have a better experience. Sunday lunch! Everything was top-shelf! Had a reservation, but arrived early and was able to be seated without delay. Hostess was super nice and professional. Our server Jaylen/Dalen? was excellent. The MINCED mango was so not there that I had to inquire whether it was mistakenly left out. I had expected a reasonable number of good sized pieces. The server brought me "extra", which was about one tablespoon chopped super small and in a bit of vinegrette like it had been prepped for salsa. Same with the nuts and the two little dried blueberries-so small a portion that they were almost missing. Food was ok, but the Sangria special is only M-TH and it wasn't obvious for us when we ordered on Sunday. The price difference is large $5 vs $13, and we wouldn't have ordered them if we had known. I have long been a fan of the Tommy Bahama clothing line. Yes it is a bit cheesy, but it puts out a chill vibe and wearing it just makes me feel like I'm in vacation mode. When I heard they were opening a bar and restaurant I was both perplexed and excited! Recently on a grey and dull day, I needed some imaginary sunshine, so to Tommy Bahama I went! The bar and restaurant is attached to a clothing store, both of which appear to be attached to the Dicks Sporting Goods near the mall food court. Since I wanted to feel tropical I decided to order a mai tai. It was pretty good, heavy on the rum which could be a good thing from a value perspective though it kind of threw off the taste. Feeling a little hungry I decided I'd try out their steak tacos as I had read some reviews that they were a favorite here. They were delicious! Totally blew my expectations out of the water. The corn salsa and island slaw provided great flavors, and the steak was cooked very nicely. The corn tortillas really tied it together. The menu is fairly small, so I don't really see this as a place I'd bring a big group out to dinner for, but if you are at the mall shopping or just in the area, they make a great stop to come in. Great vibes, and surprisingly good food! Of course if you'd like to pick up a stylish Hawaiian shirt afterwards you have that option as well! read more

We waited at the table for eleven minutes before being greeted by our server. The food, which took over 30 minutes to arrive, was mediocre at best: *the ahi tacos were covered in cilantro, which isn't listed on the menu, and the filling was room temp *the chicken for the mango chicken salad was pre-cooked and beyond dry. Impossible to cut with the side of a fork, and even the knife was struggling *the fries were not fresh, were limp, and half were overcooked We won't be back anytime soon read more

We ordered drinks and our sons food as soon as server arrived, drinks took 20 min to make it back to us and my cocktail was spilled onto my sons cup by server, she brought napkins vs a new lid for his drink and or just getting him a new drink.... We just took the lid off and shook it off. Food took another 30 minutes to arrive and we didn't understand why the kids food took that long. We have been here a few times before and everything was fine. Which is why we came back. Never and I mean never again. Needed some items off the salad due to a special diet and the salad came out with feta on it. They went to remake that at that point who knows what they did with the chicken and if it had canola oil on it or not- couldn't trust them on that anymore. They make chicken w canola oil that's super gross anyways I was starving and had to wait even longer. She brought it back but by that point I had decided I couldn't trust them that it had no canola oil and I left it and told them never coming back again. I can definitely see the bar being a happening spot! The restaurant has a relaxed, island feel to it which is the whole Tommy Bahama vibe. This was a portion I cut off for my child who was the first to say this tastes bad, mommy. She's 12. Dish was lemon butter chicken or something like that - lemon chicken. I've been going here since the day they opened. Food was good and I especially loved the flatbread, but now they changed the steak, and it is no longer good. For the last few months the place has gone downhill as far as the management goes especially the GM. I believe her name is Tabitha she's rude to the employees she does not dress properly she hugs and touches on the employees in front of the customers which is not appropriate I can tell when she's not there the place is so much at more at ease with the staff. Still love going because of the atmosphere and several of the employees are great. I had the pleasure of being served by two bartenders by the name of Emily and Natasha they were great fast,efficient and made great drinks. I will continue going as I love this place but I do believe management needs to do better although there was one manager that went beyond our expectations he was so kind and made sure that we were happy.I don't remember his name. We had reservations for Father's Day here at 5pm. The waitress and hostess were very nice. Upon ordering a few appetizers we were told they were out of the salsa for the guac/ salsa appetizer. She said it had been very busy earlier. Got it anyway, they did do double guac for that. Then as we ordered she said they were out of fries, fajitas, all desserts and another item. She asked if we wanted chips with the jerk chicken sandwich and we said sure. The item comes out and its tortilla chips not potato as we had assumed. The food took quite a long time. Then one entree of fish was cold, so we sent it back and they did remove this from our bill. Our frustration was no one informed us the items they were out of before being seated, no manager ever came and apologized for the wait or the food shortages. They should have made customers aware, and a manager should have personally come over and addressed the cold fish entree. It is very poor customer service on their part, and we will not be back again, nor will there be any positive recommendations for this restaurant. Plenty of ways the management could have handled this professionally to make sure guests had a good experience regardless of the circumstances. read more
