I came here with my aunt for brunch today. I had the chorizo breakfast tacos (with scrambled eggs, pics, and chorizo in a tortilla) and seasoned potatoes. Both of them were terrific. The tacos had nice flavor and the potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. The service was pretty good too. I'll gladly come back to Evelyn's to try more menu items (and pictures next time). read more

Here for a wedding and found this jewell. Biscuits and gravy with crispy bacon. Yum! Fresh ingredients and the eggs have that bright color that comes from local farm fresh sources. Decided to stop in for some coffee. Surprising this restaurant is larger than it seems outside. I ordered the chicken and waffles with the potatoes as a side. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juicy and well seasoned. You could tell the waffle was homemade. The place was very clean and had great service. Do not come here if you want fast service. This was our second time here and after waiting 20 minutes we finally asked just to pay for our drinks because our food order hadn't even been taken yet. Which really sucks because the food was very, very good last time but some things are just not worth the wait. First time we came, we waited nearly two hours from start to finish and overheard a screaming match between the chef and our waiter. If they could just improve on service speed they'd be a nice breakfast spot. read more

I really wanted to like this place because in three years we haven't found a go-to for breakfast that isn't a chain. The two stars are for the waitress and the coffee cups and the fact they use heavy cream. Now for the negatives. The food (at least the All-In omelette that my husband and I shared) was boring and flavorless. No hint of salt, pepper or savory. My husband ordered gravy on the side. It was thick, floury and tasteless. My Hollandaise that I ordered on the side was tasteless. Not nearly enough lemon. The sausage in the omelette was merely cut up patty sausage and not bulk. The bacon in the omelette was a whole strip instead of cut up. You can tell it's a "locals type" of breakfast place, but that didn't mean you can't get quality food at those places. No taste cold over-priced meal. We drove way out of the way due to the high reviews. The Sunday brunch had little to choose fron, but we went with Eggs Benedict. We were the only ones there and the food took awhile. The eggs Benedict were severely lacking, the English muffins were not toasted, topped with cold thin deli sliced processed ham with a poached egg - also cold. The only saving grace was the potatoes were warm, but there wasn't enough of them. They asked if we wanted to send it back for another - but enough time had been spent waiting for it the meal. We had little faith that a second opportunity would produce a better impression. What a disappointment! read more

My husband and I are visiting East Tennessee for a long wknd getaway and we were on the search for a breakfast place. We found Evelyn's after a quick google search and we were not disappointed. I got the breakfast bowl with sausage and sausage gravy on the side and my husband got the country time waffle. Both were large portions and very good. My only critique would be I would have liked for the sausage in the breakfast bowl to have been crumbled instead of a patty. The coffee was hot and delicious. Our server, I believe his name was Brian, was excellent. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again. read more

We decided to give this place a try this weekend and it was disappointing. The first thing I noticed was a homeless man sitting at the front door which was off putting. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered a burger and it had no flavor. It was very plain and bland. For $16 I would have expected something much better. We went on a Sunday and there was hardly any selection. A value that is matched by very few small town, local restaurants. For less than $10/person, don't even waste your time at a fast food chain. Speaking of, the meal was delivered quickly. I ordered a pick 2 and that was plenty for a grown man. I received a full house salad and "half" (more like a full sandwich) club. I can't say enough about how fresh all of the ingredients are. Right down to the homemade ranch dressing. The staff was very friendly and they use a touch less payment system that was fast an easy. Thank you to the staff and ownership. My daughter and I stopped here for a late breakfast/lunch Saturday. The weather was nice, so we sat outside. They were fairly busy, but we got our orders taken promptly. The food arrived shortly afterwards, and it was delicious! We both ordered the house grit bowl. It comes with bacon and eggs done however you like. The grits are perfect consistency, although I prefer mine a little saltier. The bacon is fantastic! Smoky, thick and perfectly cooked, imho. We ordered a side of toast and a biscuit, both of which appeared to be grilled. Yum. The coffee was hot and tasty, served in one of the many adorable mugs they have on display. The servers were all attentive and friendly. The place itself is in a nondescript shopping plaza, but don't let that fool you. read more

Traveling nurse from out of town, recently found this gem. Fresh cooked breakfast, much like a home cooked meal. Same price as most chain restaurants but far better than your average greasy spoon. Their menus was somewhat limited but quality over quantities is always a success. Coffee was fantastic, came in a fun and unique mug. Blend was perfect, I usually use cream and sugar but needed neither. Breakfast potatoes were crisp and tasty. I had the eggs benedict last week and they were delicious. It had a shaved ham with the poached eggs that was perfect for consumption. Today I had the opportunity to try to a sausage quiche and it was outstanding. Would recommend! read more

I was visiting a friend who took me here for breakfast. Everyone's food was delicious! I had the sausage waffle, baked apples, and a cup of coffee. I HIGHLY recommend Evelyn's for breakfast and will absolutely request we eat here every time I visit! On top of delicious food, the service was great! Very friendly, kept my coffee full, respectful of my food allergies. Food was ok, but the service was terrible. Waitress wasn't friendly. Passed by our table at least 20 times and still did not offer to refill our drinks. We had to ask two separate times to have them filled. Never came by to see if we needed anything either. Such a shame. We were not the only table getting frustrated with the service either. I'm going to give this a 2 merely because of the food. The biscuit and gravy that I ordered did arrive cold. But the customer service, or shall I say lack of customer service ruined the entire experience. Customers seated after us had another waitress, and they had their food ordered before our drink order was even taken. We were lucky enough to be waited on by Evelyn. She was very short, and uninformed about her own menu. We enquired about the price of the omelet and was told it's on the menu. When pointing out it wasn't, she almost seemed upset she had to look it up. She never asked if there was anything else she could do. My husband's drink sat empty, again when it was brought up.... It was almost a bother. This is the first and last time we will come here. Apparently they started with a bad day, and shared those emotions with their customers. Not a great experience! read more
