I miss Dr. Grain who was the original veterinarian that would care for my dogs. He was very kind, compassionate and he had empathy. I'm not a fan of the new Dr. he's completely the opposite. The customer service has declined as well. I left 3 messages and never received a return phone call. Under Dr. Grain you would get a call to confirm your appointment and that doesn't happen. Dr. Grain was recommended to me so I made a 10:15a.m. appt for my puppy to get his shots. Unfortunately, Dr. Grain had retired and Dr. Hardy had taken his place. I arrived for my 10:15 appt at 10:10 and called to check in. By 10:50, when no one had called me in, I called and asked Veronica how much longer it would be. She told me it would be about 20 more minutes, which would make my wait an hour or more. My puppy and I had had enough and we left. My puppy had a piece of cat's tail (plant) stuck in its right eye. I called other places and everyone had appointments for later days. I called this place really concerned because the infection wasn't going away and the puppy was lethargic. They saw us right away and although it was painful to watch, they were were able to pull the piece of cat's tail stuck in his eye, they gave him a shot and some eye drops. This was around 6pm. By 9pm, the puppy's eye looked much better, open and the puppy was eating. The inflammation is almost gone and our family is at peace. It cost us about $110.00, which is not too bad considering that they saw us on the same day and the doctor didn't try to up sell anything we didn't need. Can't thank them enough. Dr. Grain and his staff were very helpful, fun and nice. Even though my kid and I were in panic mode, they were able to educate us in the process. read more

We completely loved our visit with Dr Grain. His staff were very welcoming. And he was very invested in the well being of our cat. Bc of Covid they had us check in through the phone. They allowed only one of us in with our cat. They gave us the treatment for our cat. When the medicine they gave us was too strong for our cat they told us to come back in and they would replace it(no charge). Overall, We were in and out in a matter of 20 min. Our cat is no longer feeling any discomfort. I recommend Dr Grain as a health care provider for anyone's fur baby. He truly does care about animals and does not give priority to your money. My mom kept telling me about a vet clinic on cherry but I never knew which one she was talking about until I looked evening pet clinic on Yelp. I decided to look for another clinic when I wanted a second opinion on some treatment for my 10 year old boxer. My girl was sick and the old vet did bloodwork, urine analysis, and took x-rays and still did not know what was wrong with her but he wanted to give her treatment for a UTI because her urine test showed white blood cells but her bloodwork tested negative for infection. After a discussion with her old vet I decided to take her somewhere new to get a second opinion and that's when I found evening pet clinic. I took her in the same day (Saturday) to try to see the vet but the assistant told me they only go by appointment - the vet must have heard the desperation in my tone of voice because he came out to the lobby and asked me about my girl anyways and did a quick check on her anyways. He told his assistant to make an appointment for me and my boxer first thing Monday, in the mean time he told me to give my girl chicken baby food and questioned the first vets suggestion of treating her for a UTI; saying there's something more serious that's going on. We went Monday and he was real with me telling me there might be something more serious with my boxer. She went from 72 lbs to 58 lbs. he told me the goal was to have her gain some weight. He didn't try to make me spend a crazy amount of money to get her better he wanted to get to the bottom of what was wrong with her and if he could do that without charging to much, that's the route he'll take with you. I return in two weeks and she lost more weight (58 lbs to 54lbs) but her appetite came back (hungry little monkey) and she was less lethargic and being more like her old self. Because of this, he wasn't too worried and said that can happen sometimes when they're getting over being sick as long as there are no other signs and she's eating she should be ok but to bring her back in another two weeks to see if she gained weight. Again, we go back in two weeks and she gained two pounds and he said that's great. To keep feeding her but to not make her overweight. Sadly, other symptoms started to show AFTER her last visit at Evening Pet Clinic, I called maybe the weekend before Christmas and they honestly told me I should see another vet because the doctor would not be in and it sounded like my girl would need immediate follow-ups. So I took her to Bixby Animal Clinic (another great spot) where they continued to see my girl. Unfortunately she ended up having a malignant stomach cancer. In short, I appreciate the honesty, involvement, and " realness" at Evening Pet Clinic. They are not just there to get you to spend money. read more

RUDE RECEPTIONIST!! she does not care about her job at always has a nasty attitude. Vet doesn't seem to care about your pet they are over priced & not only that they always say nothing is wrong with your pet. I took my 9 week puppy there for a check up & all they did was weight him & check his temperature and say he was okay didn't check his eyes,teeth etc. My other dog has a rash on his testicals and they look swollen and all they said was its "genetic" and gave him some cream and now they look even worst. I could not speak higher of Dr Grain and his crew (Veronica and Olga) I have been using him as our vet for over 25 years now He took care of my 3 Boxers, with countless issues, surgeries and questions, and was never reluctant to send us to a specialist when required He is knowledgeable, patient, and has an unbelievable "bedside" manner. He always gave me the facts straight and a clear plan to maximize my pets health (even recommending swimming for the hips). I learned so much from him on pet health, that I feel that I will always be in debt. I still use his quotes (like surgeons cut) when talking with friends and have become a better pet owner because of him As I move from So Cal with my Mastiff, I will miss them and the compassion that they showed. On october I came here with my yorkie because she had a growth on her belly & on her breast after reading all the reviews I had to come back & Thinking i would get the help i need . So to start I checked in saw the doctor told him a little bit on what was going on he checked my dogs heart and looked at the tumor and immediately said my dog had mammary cancer and that I needed surgery or she would not make it to the end of the month then quoted me a price . And said if it was to much to bring her in and he would put her to sleep. How in the world do you quote some one all this and not even bother even running test before making such diagnosis , Of course as a dog owner hearing something like that leaves you no option but to find the cure , after mentioning all this to my family they opened my eyes and made me get a second opinion unfortunately vets here in cali care more about the money than helping the community . I found a vet in baja california who ran many studies before even considering the surgery And said a tumor does not necessarily mean its cancerous and that my dog didn't show any signs of cancer . And even found other health issues that would complicate surgery . After receiving treatment for about a month my dog finally became a candidate for surgery and it was preformed and everything came out great and my dog is so healthy and happy . So before spending so much money consider other options . For your pets well being , so all fellow yelpers feel free to message me & I will refer you to the vet in baja California , I went to who not only offered great care and comfort but prices 3times less than here in California And to evening pet clinic Im so disappointed cause as a little girl my mother would bring our other dog here for care , so I expected better . I have been going to this vet office, off and on for years now. Dr. Grain takes care of things and treats owners and pets with respect. His prices are reasonable, not as cheap as the shelter but it doesn't take hours to get seen by him either. I am willing to spend the extra money to save my time and have the added convenience of when he will see my cats. Them being open nights and weekends is a huge plus too. He is also good with small animals (I once took my rat here because he wasn't doing well). read more

This vet is amazing! He is very attentive and answers all question, my son is 8 and our cat Lucy is his world so he was scared when we took her in for shots. Dr. gave him a lollipop and let him listen to her heart, super sweet. Lucy was very calm with the Doc as well she didn't mind him grabbing her at all. (She can get temperamental with strangers) I would definitely recommend this vet, he and his staff are great and they are pretty inexpensive, upfront and honest about treatment. I had two bad experiences with this place. The first one was when my 8 week old Christmas puppy had parvo. Dr. Grain charged me $300 for a home care kit (or I could have had her stay there *with no one to care for her during the night* for $1500) and didn't even send us home with the syringe we paid for to keep the puppy hydrated. Other vets said they would have started a camel's hump to send the puppy home with (inject the puppy under the skin and make a hump of water to keep the puppy hydrated since they don't eat or drink when they have parvo) and also they have something called parvo-aid which you can get at Wal-Mart which helps with recovery and sometimes will cure the puppy. Needles to say the puppy didn't make it and ended up having a slow painful death which I witnessed in my arms on 1.1.11. Great way to start off my year. NOT. =( The next was when I adopted a dog from the Carson shelter and brought her in for a "free" check up. $255 in x-ray and visit fees later (which weren't included in a free visit so I supposed he had to get his money from somewhere) for him to tell me I needed a $1500 surgery for the dog or it would be lame for the rest of it's life because of a fractured hip that healed incorrectly or I could simply take it back to the pound. Wow, how caring. I decided to keep the dog but couldn't afford the surgery so I figured being lame was better than being put down at the pound. 2 years later and my dog with the "fractured hip that healed incorrectly" is running, playing, and even jumping fences! Lame for the rest of her life huh? really? wow. Good call Dr. Grain. NOT! I asked Dr. Grain for a letter to take to the shelter to say it's ok to get her fixed and he said she was ok to be fixed but to come in for an office visit so he could see her. Why so he can charge me another $35 for a letter? No Thanks! Wouldn't recommend this vet at all. They might love animals but definitely mostly in it for the $$$. read more

Seriously though, he's a kind, caring man who's kept my four legged friends in good shape.
