I ordered the Mac and cheese grilled cheese and it was fantastic! I am a cheese fanatic and it was love at first bite. The cheese is perfect, the pasta is cooked perfect, the bread had a Golden color and amazing crunch when I bit into it. At first I thought it was too small, but the more I ate the fuller I became. 10/10 I recommend to grilled cheese lovers. What is perhaps the biggest letdown is that Everdine's is just down the highway from grilled cheese experiences that are fantastically creative and stupendously complex. Everdine's does not and will never rival the culinary creative genius that is reinventing what it means to enjoy this classic dish in downtown Chicago such as Cheesies. Great service and food! You can tell the owner really cares about her customers because she goes to each table and asks everyone how they are doing. I like this kind of service and atmosphere. My kids shared a grilled cheese sandwich, my wife ordered a house salad and I got the special which included three layers of meat! Great sandwich, I just wish it was bigger since I'm capable of putting 2 or 3 of these away! There are so many selections of sandwiches that I was secretly counting how many times I would have to come back here to try them all! Some of the sandwiches that stood out that I will have to come back and try are: Usual Suspect, Al Pa-Cheeso, Tuna Turner, Spicy Smoky Cheese Bacon, Turkey Meltdown and Eddie Mack & Cheese! Some drawbacks are the space, during busy times you might have to wait since there is only a counter and a limited amount of tables. The prices of some of the sandwiches can get pretty high. Bread and cheese are two of my favorite food groups. However, I'm disappointed in the food here for 2 reasons: 1) quality wasn't that great, and 2) very overpriced. I ordered the regular grilled cheese, and after my first bite I noticed that they clearly use oil on the bread, not butter. I tasted cheap oil before anything else, which obviously wasn't pleasant. The cheeses used are nothing special either, especially for $8-9! And the tomato soup doesn't taste high-quality or homemade. For both the grilled cheese and the soup, I could easily make better food myself, for way less. Overall, it was edible, and it's a good concept! Just wish it was executed better (or they dropped prices way down to reflect actual quality - I'm baffled how they justify these prices). Until then, I won't be back. read more

Crispy texas toast bread, the portion was perfect, and their gluten free bread is actually SOFT. Also tried their tomato soup (mandatory) and side of mac. They take grilled cheese sandwiches to another level. The menu is filled creative grilled cheese combinations. Starting with a simple All American grilled cheese sandwich to a Walden Teriyaki Chicken sandwich. You also have the option to build your own grilled cheese with toppings of your choice. I also noticed they have a sandwich of the day which is not mentioned on the menu. If you are a soup fan like me they also offer soups I chose to go with a tomato soup to pair with my grilled cheese sandwich. For drink options they have ice teas, lemonade, and soda. When you go to order your name is taken and once your food is ready they call out your name. Pretty simple right. I really thought the customer service was great. We ordered over the phone and they asked for approximate arrival time and a very nice young man brought our order out to us. I had the Eddie Mack n Cheese and my husband had the Buffalo Chicken. Grilled cheese is the comfort food of all comfort foods, so I was really excited when this restaurant opened. The restaurant is a bit small for weekend crowds who want to dine in the store. My fiance and I shared a mac and cheese grilled cheese. The mac and cheese was gooey and warm, but the sandwich didn't feel like a $10 one. Nothing says comfort food like melted cheese, so a restaurant centered around it is going to get my attention, and that's what Everdines is all about! All manner of grilled cheese is on offer to appeal to you, in traditional and not-so-typical forms. I got the "Mostly Maui Wowie": ham, grilled pineapple, and havarti on Texas toast. Yummy! A great blend of flavors, but I didn't need the tart "Rim" sauce that accompanied it on the side -- too strident for me! My companion got the "81 Caprice Classic": mozzarella, basil, arugula, tomato and balsamic dressing, which he liked but said he wished it was more basil-y. He also got a side of the mac and cheese, but we both agreed that whatever cheese was used was just too mild. It also suffered because we took it to go: by the time we got it home (not far) it was rather gummy. The sandwiches held up okay but would also probably be at their best if eaten fresh in-house (the restaurant is not huge and was quite crowded on their first night open! So we opted for take-out.) Lots of staff was working industriously but there was clearly still some training going on (again, day #1), but it wasn't an insane wait for the amount of people there, and the staff all had a good attitude. Prices are a little high (my sandwich on its own was $9.03 with tax), but they seem to be using quality ingredients so as to be worthwhile. Overall, I'm glad to have another lunch and dinner option in downtown Naperville. Hope it's not "cheesy" to say that I'm "melting" for Everdines! read more

Overall, I'd say this place is decent. However, I have a small gripe- I got the sloppy joan grilled cheese and it was very light on the sloppy mix. Our first visit to Everdine's! I'll share my observations! First, they were crazy busy as soon as they opened. We arrived right at 11 and we were able to snag one of the few tables available in the restaurant! The crowds poured in. I would research their menu so you can order fairly quickly. The sandwiches take some time to make because they are made to order (obviously) but if it gets crowded it won't be fun waiting around for your order. If you have a stroller or something like it, it is hard to navigate with. BUT they do have high chairs for younger kids if you're able to secure a table. My son ordered the Mac n cheese grilled cheese and when it arrived his exact quote was "this is the best day of my life." He was a fan. We tried some other sandwiches but all agreed the one that stole the show was the Mac n cheese sandwich in all its carby goodness. I would definitely recommend it. read more
