I had a lot of questions. Dr. Beamer was clearly not giving me straight answers - especially to the question of "do I really need this for the health of my teeth?"? When I did my own research at home it became clear she had left out critical information, like how long the treatment would last, and risks, and labor involved on my part (including having to wash retainers daily) etc. Since then, I went back to Turning Leaf Dental and saw a DIFFERENT dentist from their practice. I asked him "Do you think I need invisalign to straighten my teeth?" (he was unaware that Dr. Beamer had strongly recommended it). He said that my teeth were perfectly straight and that he does NOT recommend orthodontic treatment. So two dentists from the same practice gave very different treatment advice. This difference isn't a minor thing - it's the difference of (~$6000 + repeated visits + daily labor). Also, I CONSTANTLY receive marketing emails from them about how I should whiten my teeth and literally just now got a text 10 mins ago that Dr. Beamer is now certified to do botox and wants to help me reach my botox goals. My experience at this practice makes me feel they are more about $$$$ than quality dental care. I also constantly receive emails to rate them for $$$ on google / rate them to be entered into lotteries so I don't think their reviews are accurate on google.

This was the worst visit I've had to any doctor in my life and I literally left in tears. I was a…read morenew patient and came during my work day expecting that a standard exam and cleaning would be about an hour. After a slew of X-rays and scans, the Dr. came in with 0 introduction, looked at my teeth for 5 mins and proceeded to tell me I had a plethora of issues (which I've never had before). She told me I had "a handful" of cavities.. what doctor describes anything to a patient as "a handful" and doesn't give specifics? She also said I needed two crowns and had gum issues. I have never had issues like this before in my life so for someone to pop in for five mins with no further explanation and then leave was upsetting. The hygienist then told me that I needed a "deep cleaning" which would require two visits and for them to numb each side of my mouth. They actually refused to give me a regular cleaning. A front desk person came into the room with a packet of info about the cleaning and sat there and stared as she told me to sign - super awkward and made it uncomfortable to read through the info/costs. Finally after TWO HOURS I left with only HALF my mouth numbed and cleaned. I had to then come back at a later date for the second half of the cleaning. During both visits I asked for receipts to be emailed to me - I didn't get it either time. I followed up afterward and got one of the two receipts. I also had to email them five times to get copies of my X-rays. Oddly no one EVER followed up about making an appt for the so called cavities or crowns. If I had such issues, wouldn't it be imperative that I make an appt right away? The front desk only insisted that I make an appt in three months for my next deep cleaning. When I told her I'd check my a schedule and get back to her she said "no, let's make one now to get it on the schedule". I said no thanks and left. They are unbelievably persistent about scheduling in advance and will continue to hound you via calls, texts, and emails. Take a look at the other Citidental Boston location Yelp reviews where people have had very similar experiences to mine. Avoid this place at all costs. I have since gone to other dentists who confirmed the so-called work CITIDental suggested that I needed was unnecessary.

First, they could fit me in that day (lucky me!). And then the second time, it was the following week. I've now been to a different dentist twice here with nothing but positive feedback. I can't say definitely they were taking advantage of me not being a dentist and charging me for unnecessary things, but it feels that way. The office staff was nice, but I would highly suggest going somewhere else for dental care in Boston.

Dr. Kwon carved out time to see her even though she was not his patient. With great skill and compassion, Dr. Kwon calmed my wife down, took the necessary steps to steps to ensure her healing was without serious complications that required treatment, and proceeded to check in on her through texts and calls over the next several days and weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Kwon for his skill, attention to detail, and most of all for the compassion he has for his patients. Brookline Dental Center is lucky to have him as part of their staff. BTW-My wife is a nurse and I am a physician. We appreciate the importance of trust between a caregiver and a patient, that the caregiver will do their best to help a patient get well. Dr. Kwon excels at the most important aspect of healthcare, building and maintaining that trust.

It's not obscure. The dentist -- a new graduate -- didn't know what it was, and I ended up explaining it to her. I then asked whether the office could order it for my restoration so I could avoid a crown. I was told they'd look into it. Nobody got back to me. I called three separate times to follow up. The eventual answer was that they couldn't order it because it only comes in boxes of 30 tubes. That's not true -- you can buy a single tube from dental supply companies for roughly $173. When I offered to pay for it out of pocket, I was told they were confident in the materials they already use. That's a hard position to defend when none of those materials is a short fiber composite, and when the entire rationale I was given for the crown was the high occlusal force at that location. On top of all this, my insurance was billed incorrectly. The overall impression is a high-volume practice that isn't keeping current and isn't set up to have an actual conversation about treatment options. I've since moved my care elsewhere. If you value a dentist who stays up to date and practices shared decision-making, this isn't it.

Having had zero cavitities since I was in elementary school ~30 years ago, Dr. Cha (after an incredibly quick, superficial cleaning) told me I had SEVEN CAVITIES that needed to be filled, and that my teeth grinding required a custom mouthguard. This would come out to around $2k out of pocket (and they would pocket ~3-4x that), and she heavy handedly tried to pressure me to commit that day despite me voicing my hesitation, as I have had my teeth checked every 6 months and have never had a single cavity in my adult life. I'm glad I trusted my gut, because I went for a second opinion at a trusted dentist recommended by a friend. I didn't tip the new dentist off - he reported I had zero cavities, and when I confessed this was a second opinion and that Cambridge Dental Annex had told me I had seven, he was shocked and outraged, saying 'that is completely absurd, your teeth are perfectly fine.' If you're wondering why Cambridge Dental recently went through a rebranding and changed their name, I'll bet it's because of all the reviews revealing they are a complete and total scam.
