I ruptured my achilles playing basketball about a month ago. I've decided to go the conservative non-operative route and am looking for a PT to help me with my rehab. Do you have experience with patients taking this same path?

Hi Chris and thanks for reaching out. Over the past 35 years I have worked with a number of successful achilles cases; both operative and non-operative. Your prognosis is unique and dependent on a number of different variables. Partial or full tear?… Read more

I've gone to Physical Therapy in many places; but none of those places are as great as Golden…read moreHills. Everyone is so friendly here: the therapists, aides, and front desk staff are all awesome! My therapist Vanessa is helping me get my mobility back and my attitude has completely improved. The aides who work with me (usually Sam and sometimes Tuette) are patient and so helpful and encouraging. (Sam told me I WILL dance again!) My main aide last year was Angel, who always greets me with a smile. The atmosphere is more like a fun gym and less like a hospital (some PT places made me depressed like that!) There's music and laughter here; everyone is ready to assist. The only drawbacks: high copay (for me anyway) and who ever heard of a Physical Therapy place on the second floor?? (There IS a creaky elevator). They do not have a bathroom so you have to use the building bathrooms, which are frequently filthy. (But that's not on Golden Hills; that's the building management!!) Come here and get moving - I highly recommend this place. I've on my third round (different issues) and I love it here

Not the Best Experience…read more I understand many businesses are often busy and understaffed, but that should never affect basic patient/customer courtesy and providing decent service. Pros: - Organized - Good upbeat music - Comfortable room temperature - Nice small play area for small kids - Sessions ends w/15 min ice or heat therapy rest Cons: - Highly internally social front desk area, neglectful to patients - No proactive follow-up regarding VM messages & call backs - Sometimes smells stuffy and sweaty with everyone The front desk area often feels like a social gathering, frat-party among the staff, leaving paying customers feeling like an afterthought. Communication and follow-up was disappointing. I left multiple VM messages and spoke with staff over the phone regarding important time-sensitive medical records I needed. Out of about seven attempts, I received only two callbacks, one a couple of days later, and the other several days later. In most cases, I had to repeatedly follow up myself and repeat the detailed messages I left. Suggestions for Management: - Hold the front desk and all staff accountable to provide welcoming and professional service to all patients/customers. - Set clear expectations for prompt follow-through service. - Maybe incentivize good behavior from your staff with Starbucks gift cards or something. - Make sure you have a trusted Office Manager to keep everyone on point. The clinic could benefit from a few simple additions, like a few plants, framed health tips, encouraging quotes or posters, updated magazines in the lobby area, and maybe an essential oil diffuser to keep the workout area smelling fresh and pleasant, especially considering how busy it gets. The QR codes and flyers that are displayed on the walls that encourage us to post reviews would look more professional if they were placed in simple frames, and the QR codes were placed in an easy-to-scan, non-high-traffic walkway area. Overall: Healthcare is about more than treatments and exercises. Studies show that positive interactions, genuine kindness, and feeling acknowledged can improve a patient's emotional well-being and overall healing experience. Something as simple as a smile, warm greeting, or thoughtful gesture, and a pleasant smell can truly make a meaningful difference to someone's mood and nervous system. This clinic has potential, but the overall patient experience needs a massive overhaul. The positive qualities, unfortunately, are overshadowed by poor and careless communication from the front desk area and some of the other PT staff on the floor. Sometimes it feels like no matter who I talk to there, I just feel like another number.

I wanted to obtain the previous at-home PT exercises/program but no one answers the phone and no one ever calls back (even text messages are not replied to) which is extremely frustrating. On the other hand, they were quick to call back to schedule something (and take my money). Ayesha treated me for some pain I had postpartum and she validated a lot of things that other providers had dismissed. She helped me feel seen as a whole, which was refreshing during that part of my life where everyone else was telling me the pain and changes were all a normal part of motherhood. For my current situation, she did a thorough assessment and provided clear explanations and guidance on what is happening in my body and how we will tackle my plan of care. The staff are also on it with contacting my physician and keeping track of the referral information and helping me schedule my follow-ups in a friendly way. I highly recommend SVPT and Ayesha if you want physical therapy from a clinic that truly cares.
