This Koreatown cheap eats marketplace was my go to during college. However, not sure if my taste buds evolved too much, or their products are not what they use to be, I felt underwhelmed by recent visit. The kimbap was not bad, but I felt the rice was a bit too mushy. Same issue with the eel and the SPAM versions. Add on the fact that the prices are much higher and no longer considered cheap eats, I will unlikely be coming back here any more.

Had lunch at Woorijip on a weekday while running errands nearby. It is located on 32nd Street in the heart of Koreatown and functions as a cafeteria-style, self-serve spot where you pick from prepackaged dishes, pay, and then sit either in the front or back. There were quite a few options, though not many that were vegetarian-friendly. I chose three items: the soft tofu stew with beef ($5.50), which was filling and very good and a bit spicy. There were a few soup options kept warm in a heated case. I also tried the pork buns ($5), which were just okay, mostly dough with minimal filling and not very warm. Lastly, I had the honey soy garlic chicken strips ($8), which were quite filling, and flavorful with a hint of sweet. and I ended up taking some home. Overall, this is a quick and convenient lunch or dinner option. It is nice to be able to see everything and mix and match different dishes. I would recommend it if you are in the area and want something fast and affordable.

Located in Koreatown 32nd St. Went on a weeknight and it was very busy. There is seating by the entrance and more seating in the back, kind of cramped. Not for sitting long to eat so just waited a little bit to get a table. Fast, casual. 8% cash discount. The shelves and cashiers are in the center of the space. Packed food from soups, sides, single food items (good for sharing) to individual meals. White or purple rice $2.50 for a small container. Beverage section next to the cashiers. Wouldn't mind having the spicy tuna salad roll, and wildrice roll with crabmeat again - @$5.50 each, good bite-sized and tasty. Also the steamed fish with ginger which we had with purple rice. The white fish filet jeon was eggy and ok. The fried anchovies were too sweet. Tiny restroom available, need the key from the cashier.

If you're craving Korean food and don't feel like cooking, Woorijip is one of my favorite spots. It's basically a Korean takeout counter where everything is already made fresh and ready to grab. You can get bibimbap, kimbap, mandu, and a bunch of other classic Korean dishes, then just heat them up and eat. I used to go to H Mart for prepared food, but Woorijip actually has a wider selection of ready-made meals and everything tastes really fresh. It's also super affordable. If you're having friends over or hosting something at your place, this is such an easy move. Just grab a few different dishes, put them out, and it feels like you ordered a whole Korean spread. Definitely recommend.

Woorijip is located on 32nd St, right in k-town in New York, NY. Since 2000, Woorijip has been serving homestyle Korean meals. When you walk in, you'll see tables, registers, drinks, and multiple metal shelf units and tables filled with pre-packaged korean bites, both hot and cold. The vast selection of prepared meals displayed throughout the restaurant is all clearly labeled and includes classic korean dishes like spicy gochujang chicken, vegetable japchae, kimchi fried rice, grilled tofu, beef bulgogi japchae, japanese style fried chicken, a variety of lunchboxes, kimbap, korean pancake "jeon", and side dishes "banchan," and more. Choose what you want and pay at the counter. At checkout, the staff will ask if you are taking it to go or dining in. If you are dining in, the staff will put your food on a tray and apply a red sticker. There is also a microwave to warm up dishes if you prefer. There is a cash discount compared to paying with credit cards. On two different occasions, I was in a rush so I came in to have a quick bite. There were always tables available for me to sit and enjoy my purchases. I've had the Beef Bulgogi Roll and Pan Fried Kimchi, Beef Bulgogi Japchae and Pan Fried Spicy Fish Cake. Of course, a sit down restaurant will be fresher and may have better flavor, but this comparable and still tasted really good. It is definitely convenient, good value, and relatively inexpensive.

I have been going here for years and I love this place! Whenever I make time, this is one of my steps. The food is consistently good service is simple. You bring up your food to the register and you pay. They are pleasant and the ambience is basically you feel like you're a Korean cafeteria. They have some large jugs and vases for cultural aesthetic by come here for the food that is consistently good and fresh! You can't go wrong.

Came here twice in one week. It's busy but the line moved fast, and I haven't had any trouble finding a place to sit. They keep the place nice and clean. I enjoyed everything but the fried chicken (too dry and bready). The beef japchae was okay. The crabmeat jeon, seafood mixed vegetables, and kimbap options were all great. This is a great option to grab a quick dinner when you are not feeling a salad.

Quick grab and go place for Korean food. Large location with tons of options already pre made. Good Selection and variety. There is also space to sit down if want to eat in restaurant or take to go. Really good quality and enjoy

My favorite restaurant in Koreatown! Trust me. NOTE: Closed on Sundays. If paying with cash, there's a discount. Thought I wrote a review for Woorijip years ago, but I guess not or it disappeared. Literally have been going here since 2003! After seeing a co-worker holding a package for lunch that looked like a giant sushi roll & her complaining that someone put it in the fridge the night before, it hardened the rice & since everything's cooked, she was upset. (do your research, not sure if kimbap needs or doesn't need refrigeration). This was the first time I've seen cooked sushi & heard about Korean Food. Searching for affordable food around Macy's/34th Street Herald Square, a Time Out NY or Village Voice listing mentioned Woorijip. The next time I was in the area, I walked down the long block of 32nd street & came across their homey blue awning with an even homier logo. At the restaurant was a buffet (with food consistently coming out of the kitchen AND that packaged kimbap), since post-pandemic they strictly operate with pre-packaged items now. Have eaten at different sit-down restaurants in Koreatown and still think Woorijip's flavors wins (even from the buffet to its current iteration). I recommend: - Sweet & Sour Chicken or Pork (the Chinese-Korean version of Chinese Sweet & Pungent Pork; or the Chinese-American Sweet & Sour Chicken) - Get the Japchae! Potato flour glass noodles. Either veggie or with beef is fine. Just - get - it. Under $10! for a nice side to share. - Cold Ban Chan (sides): Sautéed Kale "cold salad", Sautéed Spinach. Never thought I would eat cold sautéed leafy greens, but the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil marinade (with some sesame seeds and Korean chili powder) makes them amazing. & shiitake mushroom ban chan. - Tteok-bokki: Rice flour gnocchi in a spicy tomato-vodka like sauce. Has anchovy elements in the sauce & thin fish meatball "triangles." The sauce doesn't compare to other dishes that I've tried! This is actually my baseline (& the Japchae) for Korean dishes. - Any of the Kimbap (ie. cooked sushi rolls). I like the Beef bulgolgi. - The mixed Jeon (egg omelettes): there's lots of options with zucchini, imitation crab meat, kimchi. Some that are "eggless," not sure what the main ingredient is - potato flour? - I used to get the Bibimbap alot. The ingredients were so fresh (especially during the summer) & different than some restaurants' bibimbap bowls: shiitake mushrooms, thinly sliced squash, spinach, mung beans... The gochujang pepper paste sauce also has good flavor (not too spicy, not too anchovy). I mean, all of it is good - kimchi fried rice with an egg on it ... if you pick an entree that comes with a free rice, get the mixed-grain black rice! Recently got off NJ Transit & made my walk over for comforting food that I would cure my winter travels. A big container of Beef Shank Bone Broth Soup (discovered potato noodles in it, slices of daikon, slivers of egg omelette) + free rice. It healed me. One item that I'm not a fan of is the Black Bean Noodle, they use a spaghetti-like noodle with the dark soybean sauce. The noodles aren't traditional, and the flavor is a little bland. Woorijip used to have a lot more snacks & homemade rice flour & tapioca treats near the counter. Maybe they sell out quickly or have them only around the holidays. Vividly remember a square-shaped brownie-like pumpkin-flavored rice flour treat with layers of bean paste & seeds that I haven't found again. Everything's so affordable (entrees under $15). You'll find college kids huddled around tables drinking makeolli, soju, & beer (the staff does check for ID & loitering throughout the night). Lots of workers in the area during lunch or picking up for dinner, tourists, Korean aunties... Woorijip used to have a rewards card with unique Korean prizes from packages of Gim (seaweed) to Tofu Stew clay pots (many stamped cards). I redeemed cards for a jar of Korean citron honey for citron tea once. The atmosphere is very casual, high tables & stools; kind of canteen-like. All of the food are in to-go containers with microwaves available to heat things up. Since they don't have the buffet anymore, I usually take the food to go and reheat it at home. Thank you Woorijip!

Woorijip has been around for a long time and I like that they offer prepackaged food that is more meant for you to grab and go. Last time I stopped by was years ago, but I stopped by the other day to grab something quick before catching a train. The interior of this place is nice and simple, with a bunch of tables set up if you wish to dine in. They have a bunch of prepackaged meals on display and there's a lot to choose from. I saw stuff like kimbap, fried pork cutlet w/ curry, and even prepackaged soups like sundubu-jjigae. Everything looked very good. Unfortunately, I concluded that most items were very expensive. I settled on a package of bulgogi kimbap ($12) and a small container of jjajjangmyun ($5.50). I saw that they offer a 8% discount for using cash, so I paid in cash. Total was about $17.58. The young lady cashier was very nice, so bonus points on the customer service front. I had the kimbap when I got home and I was pleased. It tasted pretty fresh and the kimbap was tasty / satisfying, so no complaints. I reheated the jjajjangmyun in the microwave and it was also pretty satisfying. The jjajjang sauce tasted pretty legit. The noodle quality wasn't the best but it was serviceable. So my experience with Woorijip was pretty good, but I can't help feeling dissatisfied with the pricing. From reviews that other Yelp friends have posted, it seems I'm not the only one who think they're too high. But otherwise, glad this place exists for casual korean food eating in the area.

Food: This is a very popular and well-known eatery in K-Town that has small Korean dishes, sides, and drinks. All food is pre-cooked and packaged into small containers that you select from shelves. Dishes include kimchi fried rice, kimbap, seafood pancake, kimchi pancake, spicy fish cakes, kimchi, seasoned veggies, white rice, bibimbap, rice cakes, typical banchan dishes, tofu soups, and much more. The variety is huge, and you're likely to find something for everyone as long as you like Korean food. Quality of the food and portions aren't amazing, but it's good if you're looking for a very casual quick bite to eat. I've tried the seafood pancake, rice cakes, and spicy fish cakes. All of them were very good but of course not as good as a sit-down Korean restaurant. They also have a wide variety of Asian drinks as well as microwaves to heat up your food. Most of the dishes are stored at room temperature and won't be hot unless you warm it up in the microwave. Service: The place is completely self-serve. You select your items, pay for it at the cashier, and find your own table to eat at. There are many tables for eating so both small and large groups can be accomodated, but you might need to sit separately. The place gets packed during peak meal times. Ambiance: The place is extremely casual and the ambiance is nothing special. The place does get packed so it's not a place to linger and spend a long time in since people will be looking for a seat to eat their food. Overall, I would highly recommend this eatery if you're just looking for a simple quick meal!

Honestly the best bang for your buck spot in ktown lol. I love the concept where everything is pretty much pre-packed and you have the option to either heat it up in store using their microwaves or bringing it home to eat. Tons of authentic, traditional Korean dishes at a fair price. You could easily get a few items without breaking the bank. A perfect spot for lunch if you work in the area or if you're looking to just grab something quick. Food tasted great, no complaints. Have been coming here since forever and I'll always be back when I'm in the area. Need more spots like this in the city!

This is a great convenient grab and go approach for Korean food. Everything is already premade and set out. They have noodles, banchan, rice, miso, and other Korean staples. It's a really easy way to sample a variety of Korean dishes. It's setup like a cafeteria and you grab a tray and pick out what you like. When I went Friday night it was pretty loud but pretty par for the course in ktown on a weekend night. There's seating but it can get packed pretty fast.

I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

Experience was great. Service was great and attentive…read more I really liked how the chairs doubled as storage for our bags and jackets so that they would not absorb the smell of bbq. I went with my sister and my daughter. We ordered the beef combo for 2 and a seafood pancake. The portion was just right. The quality of the beef was pretty good and was cooked to perfection (I requested for medium-rare). My sister had her portion cooked to well done since she is currently pregnant and didnt want to risk having any problems (not everything ended up being well done though). I personally prefer the pancake from elsewhere but it was not bad. My picky daughter really liked it. The combo came with a steam egg and boy was that good. Our meal ended with a yummy ice cream for each of us. This meal however made a pretty big dent in my wallet. It was my fault for not checking the menu before heading in. I didnt want to walk any further with my toddler and my pregnant sister since it started raining outside.

Good portion sizes for the 2-person shared BBQ lunch- be it Bulgolgi beef, stewed soup, or Banchan…read morewith 6 varieties of small dishes. Soup and Banchan both receive high marks for how good they taste. Also ordered a separate beef short rib lunch special, the rib was cooked to perfection and the sauce applied was very flavorful. Servers were friendly and mostly attentative, restaurant decors and cleanliness of interiors and bathrooms were quite good. Would come back again next time in the Herald Square area.
