Awesome spot for a fun summer activity! They offer kayak and paddle boarding rentals. The rentals are fairly cheap. We did paddle boarding and it cost $20 for two hours. If you come before 10:30am, it's only $15! Would definitely recommend if you want to try something new. read more

We took the guided standup paddleboard (SUP) tour through Huntington Harbor with Waterman Tom and had a great time. Not only did Tom do a great job of teaching how to safely SUP, but his knowledge of the area was amazing. We had perfect weather and such a great time. read more

paddleboarding at OEX has been a yearly excursion for my sisters and friends for the past three years. Pricing is amazing for the 2 hrs. We came before 10:30 for early bird and it was only 15$ each. So worth the vibes. The lifeguard around are very vigilant as well! read more

Highly recommend!! Called around 9 am to inquire about renting kayaks. I had called another place in Newport Beach but had been told they were closed for the day due to a wind advisory. I reach Andy here and he said the same but that we could check back later in case the weather changed. I called around 11:30 and he said the wind had died down and he'd be willing to rent us kayaks. He had them on the beach waiting for us when we arrived. $20 each for single kayaks, and he threw on an extra hour for free (so we got them for three hours instead of two). The marina was lovely to paddle around. So many beautiful houses and much calmer waters than the ocean lol. Andy came out immediately when we made it to shore to help us in and even gave us brewery recs for after. He was the best! Come here for sure! read more

I want to Gate-keep this spot so it doesn't get packed! Ok fine, I'll spill the beans! It's a great place for beginners to learn in calm waters and a short trip. Two hours for 20 bucks and that includes the kayak and life vest. Sometimes you have to wait for a kayak but you can walk up the street and grab a coffee and scone. There's also a 7/11 across the street for snacks. Parking is tough but be patient and you'll be fine. Make sure to cross the beach and finish your day at the beach. Oh most importantly, this place is dog friendly!!! read more

This place is so cool, they have kayaks you can rent that you peddle with your feet! They are so easy to use and you stay dry and can relax and cruise the harbor with friends! We love it here! Its been 15 years since I went to Sunset to rent a kayak next door to OEX. It was high tide on this particular morning and the street was actually flooded! I got lucky and parked across the street by the 7-11. Went to OEX due to proximity and because it was just easier to hop over a few puddles and reach it rather than wade over to Sunset. Great value and reasonable pricing. 2 hours for under 20 and that was just enough activity on a sunny day. We were able to paddle through a lot of areas in that time frame. I didn't want to tandem, so I requested a single kayak for each of us. I really didn't want to take any chances and reduce the risk of tipping over as this was a first time for my companion. Lucky for us, the timing worked out and there were enough single kayaks. The staff is super friendly and chill. Not much direction on how to wait for the kayaks. Just follow the crowd and wait by the water. I appreciate the young men who work there dragging in these kayaks and paddleboards back to shore and launching people out to the harbor as well. I recommend to anyone trying this out to check out this place. We didn't have waterproof bags with us and they had offered to hold our belongings for us at the front desk. There are a lot of places nearby to dine at as well. Will be back! read more

Great healthy affordable way to have Summer fun with your friends, family, boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives etc. the prices are right!! The customer service is always friendly and superb. I always choose oex to come to and have been coming here for years. I am going back next week with my boyfriend and want to come at least once every week or two. It's a fantastic workout. read more

I've never been paddle boarding so came here with a friend. $20/person for 2 hours. That seemed like a really good price especially after my friend told me that in Newport, it's $40 for the same rate! The waters here are really calm so we had a great time. I only fell in at then end when my friend got stuck on a dock and I turned around too quickly! Haha! read more

Small little shop with lots of options for rentals. I usually rent paddle boards or kayaks. They charge per hour and require a form to be signed. They're a little relaxed about the time limit, I've never been asked to pay extra if I'm slightly late. It's a fun time. read more

I love this place!! I always bring my friends here when we're looking to kayak or paddle board. I came last week during covid to celebrate my moms birthday. In the store, they require masks on. Once we got to the area to pick up our boards, no one was wearing face masks. This is understandable because we're by the water, but at least don't clump in groups. The wait time for paddle boards is always longer than kayaks. They said we would have to wait 30 min for paddle boards, but it ended up only being 5 minutes - lucky us. read more

We love this spot! 25/ double tandem on the weekend for 2 hours as early bird! Dogs allowed! Parking is a little rough but if you're early enough shouldn't have too much trouble. Our go-to whenever in Huntington Beach, great prices and long rental times! We never have an issue with rentals even on the weekends. Go before 10:30am for $5 off rental. Head into their shop to pay and sign waiver, then they meet you out to go over the equipment. We usually go for stand up paddle boards, their equipment are kept in good condition and never an issue out on the water. Highly recommend learning in the Harbour since you can enjoy the beautiful home and boat views. Just be careful when boats speed by, they might knock you off balance! read more

Terrible from the beginning! Got here when it first opened. Was second in line. Took 50 mins to get 2 single kayaks. 3 teenage workers not doing much to bring the kayaks. We saw them just standing there eating and taking to there friends! Very unorganized to say the least. Don't ever go here! read more

Love Cali because you can go to the beach pretty much any day you want!! Came here last Saturday, and the weather was amazingly beautiful!! Nice, sunny, and 80 degrees! My boyfriend and I wanted to go paddle boarding so this seemed like a great day to go! I bought a Groupon deal ($15 for 4 hours of paddle boarding). 4 hours seems a lot, I know! But I would rather have a lot of time than rushing to get back! If you don't have a Groupon, their rates are not that bad. From what I remember, 1 hour is $15 and additional hour is $5 each. The process was simple. Signed a release form, gave our car keys to the guy and he put it in a box. Went down to get our boards and Tony gave us a little demo of how to use the boards. Pretty simple. After about 5 minutes, we were on the board paddling away! It is pretty simple to go on and it is kind of hard to fall off, unless you really try ;) There are lots of boats parked on the docks. Love paddling along wishing I could live in one of these houses. There are areas where you cannot trespass because those are private properties. Be careful because there are some boats out on the water and they can cause little ripples of waves so hang on and KEEP YOUR CORE TIGHT so you don't fall off your board! We spent about 1.5 hours on the water and that was good enough for us. Next time, we are going to pack a lunch so that way, we can paddle, eat, and the paddle again! NOTE: -Leave your things in the car -The people will hold your car keys read more

Came here for the first time today for a friend's birthday. The place is super easily located right in between the beach and the canals, with their own launching beach area, so no carrying your own boards. There is ample free street parking (didn't know that still existed at SoCal beaches). There are also plenty of bars and restaurant options around to chill out at afterwards. We were a group of 8, so it took us a while to all get together, checked in and paid up but all the staff members were very friendly and patient with us. Some of the group were new to paddle boarding, so they got a quick rundown of the dos and don'ts before we set off. They have a map of the canals available so you don't get lost. We only left the beach at 3pm and the wind had already picked up a bit by then, so we hardly had to do any paddling to be on our way. The views of all the different styles of homes and fancy boats are gorgeous. We also stopped at one of the empty docks to have a little break. We ended up paddling to the back of the main canal, which turned out to be a bad idea because we had full frontal wind on the way back and it took us an hour plus a ton of effort to get back in time. Lesson learnt for next time lol.. We did have a great time, no complaints about the gear and for $20 for two hours it's definitely worth it! read more

Great place to relax, take in the view, and get a workout!! I can't remember the last time I went Kayaking, so this was essentially my first time and I loved it! We arrived around 3pm and started our kayaking journey along the marina. We had 5 of us in single kayaks and we all had a great time! You basically sit in a kayak and they will push you off and you start paddling your way through the marina. *Be careful of the boats/yachts and other kayaks and also the paddle boarders around, but overall we didn't have any run-ins with anyone. As the larger boats pass by, be careful with the waves as I was told that your kayak may tip over because of them, but if you're careful and keep still you'll be fine. The kayaks are very stable and wider in width than the professional kayaks.You just paddle in each and any way/direction you choose and be back within 1 to 2 hours. The view is amazing with all of the enormously beautiful houses and yachts. Great workout for your arms, core, and legs as I was definitely sore afterwards! You have the option to wear a life jacket/vest or not, we all opted not to, but there is jacket/vest at the back of every kayak in case you change your mind. Mind you I am not a confident swimmer, but I was okay with out the left vest. Clothes: Shorts, pants, tank top or shirt - sunglasses is a must and a hat if you want. Bring a change of clothes just in case because of your paddling you do get several drops of water on your head/legs/arms, and will definitely need to rinse off from all the salt that get's left behind. Some mentioned your seat get's wet from the kayak, but I was okay and didn't have to change afterwards. read more

Love this spot! Staff is friendly, the equipment is clean, and the ambiance is beautiful. I always come here to rent the hobie kayaks, but this last time I came with my son the kayak was broken and kept spinning in circles. We did not get to enjoy the full time on the water and when we informed the guy nothing was done. For 55 dollars for 2 hours I feel like I should have been offered another kayak or a compensation. We were only out on the water 45 minutes and that was because he was stuck and I had to pull him along the way. However, I will come back because usually I have great experiences here, I just think that day it was too crowded and I didn't want to make a big deal about it. The kayak area is beautiful and there's access to small beach areas which I really like. Aside from this one bad experience, overall this place has always been great! read more

I got yelled at for no reason! I was teaching my dog how to swim and kindly asked a family if I can borrow their paddle board so my dog could be use to it. They said yes. Got my dog to get on, until one of the employees started yelling at me. Yelling I needed to get my dog off of it and that it wasn't mine. And asked 5 times if I rented it. (I didn't ) After the first 2 times asking if I rented it, I figured out it wasn't the family. He didn't have to yell tho. Kinda scared me. I'll be renting at sunset instead! Sorry. read more

Yes dogs are allowed most of our singles 300# max, but some up to 400#, occasionally people with big dogs will rent a double and we remove the front seat if very large.

We only offer walk ins from 9-5 with the last rental going out at 4 pm

In front of the shop is the Surfer's Hall of Fame and a statue of surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku.
