Its good to find an honest mechanic. Its good to find a capable mechanic. But when you find a combination of the two, that is rare. These guys are great. I had a brake issue and took it to them to get a brake job, and they were able to find issues I wasn't even aware of. Dont do it. Worst service i,ve had in 20 years. Took my volvo in for a heater core replacement. Dropped it off tuesday mo4ning was told on thursday it was ready. Went to get my car, paid and waited 30 mins before being told the repair wasnt complete. Went to retrieve my car the following tuesday(it was ready). As soon as i started my car the check engine light came on and codes started to pop. The mechanic had pulled wires out of my fusebox and rewired it incorrectly frying the alarm siren and who knows what else. I left my car with them to fix, they dropped my car off at my apartment complex the following day with the statement that they are waiting on parts to finish repairing my car. When i got my car back i noticed glue dried in the passenger side carpet, broken e brake sleeve and a broken front clip. My driver side door latch and armrest are encrusted with grit and grime. Today i get to take my car to another shop to try and ascertain the damage excalibur has done to my car. I have to give 1 star to post this, otherwise it would be in the negatives. read more

I had a AC related issue and one other mechanic told me that it was the compressor that had gone bad. They said it will cost $1000 to fix it. I didn't buy that and thought of taking a second opinion. Excalibur (James and his team) did a quick check and fixed the AC issue and now it works great. They didn't charge any money as it was free AC inspection. James told me that the Hot/Cold vents were probably stuck. Not sure how that can happen but it was certainly not the compressor and for now my AC works like it used to. Friendly staff and reliable quality service. I had been traveling from Boerne texas to Austin for the weekend to visit my sister. About a 2 1/2 hour drive. I noticed late that evening when I arrived that my brakes were squeaking really bad. Sounding as though it was already worn past the brake pads and rubbing metal to metal. Since it was the weekend, finding someone that Saturday to do the work wasn't happening but I needed to get back to my home town. I was a little frantic to find someone that could take me in on that following Monday and hopefully be able to get the work done that day so I could take off back home that Monday evening. Excalibur was up to the task, the staff was very friendly and helpful, answering all my questions over the phone before coming in, as well as giving me different pricing options as to what I might be looking at for the repairs. All said and done they were very flexible in working me in that monday, as well as having my brakes done by the end of the day. They were able machine flatten or polish the rotor down since it did have some damage and replace the pads. Everything works great and I was able to get the repaisr done all that day. Over and over these guys have shown themselves to be decent, honest, and kind. I would send my best friend to them. My diesel truck wouldn't start at 4:30am when I was trying to go to the airport. I took a cab to the airport and then called James. I described what was going on with my truck, he discussed it with his head mechanic and called me back....get this...recommending me to another shop that could better handle my needs!!! He made arrangements with the other shop and I made arrangements to get my truck towed there. I have an older car with over 200K miles on it, and the AC was dragging on the motor. The symptoms were hard to describe in words, but they were patient enough to listen, and then they kept it for a few hours until they experienced the same problem, and then they could offer a solution. Just yesterday I called to ask a question about my car. I had gotten an oil change and also ended up doing a brake flush. I would have gone to Excalibur but my oil light came on and I didn't want to risk it so I stopped at the closest shop. I live way North of Austin. The car started acting funny after the oil change was done and I called Brad and he said if I was in the area to come by, he was concerned about my safety! WOW.
