I bought a used HP LaserJet printer on Offer Up. When I printed, I noticed vertical lines on each page (the guy I bought it from warned me of this). I also noticed there was a system error showing for two of my cartridges. Of course, I immediately googled a repair company who specialized in HP LaserJet printers. Fortunately, the first company I called was closed. The second number I called was Excalibur Print Systems & Supplies. I talked to a gentleman by the name of Wes. I told him the problem I was having, and not only was he helpful, but he was very honest. I thought I needed to replace the drum or transfer belt, and Wes immediately ruled that out and said it was probably a defective or damaged toner cartridge. To make a long story short, I took the printer in and left it with Wes, and within five minutes of me leaving, Wes had identified and fixed the problem. Can you believe that? Problem solved. I have never had good luck with inkjet printers. They always clogged up or started having problems after a couple years, and it was always cheaper buying a new one than paying to have them diagnosed and fixed. Fed up, I decided to try a color laser printer about 5 years ago, a Brother HL-3180CDW, which was under $300 on Amazon, and it worked well for a couple years, and then started having vertical line breaks and toner smudges. I assumed it was because I bought generic toner cartridges that were leaking, and that I had ruined the printer, and was prepared to send it for recycling and buying a new one, but decided to check Yelp first, to see how much it might cost to repair. Excalibur got the best reviews, so I sent a quote request, and Wes answered right away. His advice was to bring it in for an estimate, to see if it was salvageable, and then decide if it was worth proceeding. So I lugged it in, and he took a quick look, and determined he could likely clean it up in under an hour, which he did, and the results were like having a brand new printer! He was even able to salvage the toner cartridges, which were fine, and explained that brother toner cartridge design can lead to small toner leaks over time. This alone saved me a couple hundred bucks worth of new toner. He also showed me how to keep the corona wire clean. Was impressed by his thorough explanations of how everything worked. Very friendly and down to earth! I also learned that if you buy toner from them, they'll service your printer for free. I plan to buy my next cartridges from them, when the time comes. One note, their website says that if you bring your equipment to the shop, the hourly work rate is discounted down to $50/hr from $85/hr. This seems to no longer be the case, but I was happy paying $85 to have a working printer again, and to support a quality local business. read more

We always purchase our replacement toners from Excalibur (formally Cartridge World) for all or our printers not on a contract. Great service and better priced toners than everywhere we found. AND because we previously bought toners for my dad's printer they fixed the printer when it "stopped" working. Dad bought a new printer and all the toners from Office Depot. Toners alone cost $400 because he wanted it replaced RIGHT away. Dad wasn't happy with the new printer. He wanted the old printer back. I explained this to Aaron, and his tech miraculously fixed it. very friendly and helpful. It's best to call in and ask if they have the ink/toner in stock. If they don't they will get it from their warehouse for you, usually by the end of the day. They have crappy business hours if you work normal business hours like everyone else. That's why it's best to call ahead to make sure they have what you need, so you don't waste time going there on your lunch break or leaving work early to find out they don't have your ink/toner in stock. I could not believe someone would help me with my inkjet printer. But as a last resort, the tech girl at Ala Moana Office Max looked up a printer repair place for me and gave me the address to follow up on. That was how I connected with the owner of Excalibur Print Systems & Supplies. In my anxiety, I forgot to ask his name , but the kindest most helpful person I have met gave me phone directions on how to get to their repair shop next to Kapalama Canal in Kalihi. He helped me take my somewhat heavy primer out of the trunk of my car and proceeded to see if he could fix the scratching sound when I turned on the printer. This person was obviously very knowledgeable with this type of work and with a few tinkering with a screw driver, he was able to unlock the cartridge and address the problem area. To me it was a miracle because I did not have much hope of getting the problem resolved and dejectedly thought I would need to buy another printer. To top this off, he would not accept my payment for fixing this printer. Can you believe there are people like this left in the world?! I totally recommend this place to have your printer repaired even if you think it's hopeless. Miracle do happen, thanks to this kind and compassionate shop keeper. I purchased my laser multi-function device a year ago. It's been used primarily for recipes, schoolwork and word/excel files. A week ago I finally replaced the black starter toner. This began a frustrating week of wasted paper and time. It started with grinding noises and paper jams in the rear door. If I tried 2-sided prints, for sure I would jam. I had to print everything single sided and for every 3 blank papers and jams I would get one printed sheet. I googled "fixes" to try, unplugged and vigorously shut the rear door. My problems only got worse. Now I couldn't get any prints. I considered buying a new printer but I just bought all 4 toner cartridges and the new mode printer didn't use the same toner. I checked Yelp for printer repair and stumbled upon Excalibur. It was a holiday weekend so I sent an email with the issues I was having. I got a quick response after the holiday weekend and Wes told me to bring my printer down. I was relieved that I wouldn't be losing out on my year old MFD or the toner cartridges I just bought if he could do the repair. Wes promptly plugged my printer in and would you believe it....No grinding noises, no paper jams and printed just fine! Wes helped me back to the car (my MFD is quite heavy) and sent me on my way. I've waited a few days/prints to make sure it wasn't a fluke but my MFD is working good as new. While Wes didn't need to do any repairs (I think my printer knew Wes would have got the job done regardless) his customer service and patience was greatly appreciated. I had an HP inkjet printer that had stopped feeding paper. I found Excalibur on Yelp and called them because of the great reviews. I called, left a message and Wes returned my call the next day. this is my new favorite place to shop for INK CARTRIDGES!!!! (not that i had one before, but ..umm...i do now....) honestly, i'm "financially challenged." on top of that i was in dire need of ink for my printer. ( i own an epson photo r220. it's the one with individual cartridge colors.) if one cartridge is out of ink , the bugger won't print anything. at first i went to best buy. EXPENSIVE! but i bought 2 colors. ....then 3 more cartridges ran outta ink... i checked out office depot. they were actually a couple of dollars cheaper but didn't have a couple of the colors i needed. -=o( finally, i got off my bleepin bleepers and phoned cartridge world b/c i heard of them & i figured wth, i needed to save $. i'm SOOO glad i did! the lady on the phone had SUPERB customer service and didn't make me feel like an idiot for not knowing what i was talking about. they re-filled 3 of my cartridges with premium ink for the price of ONE new cartridge from best buy (BEST buy my arse). 3=$25. you get discount for bringing in your empty cartridge. best of all, if the cartridge does give problems, you can return it and they will fix it for u. the only bad thing is tht there's only limited metered street parking on a busy road. ...but it's worth it. -=o) (side note: i think there's 3 locations on this island, so find the one nearest you!) read more

i LOVE this place. printer ink (elsewhere) is so freaking expensive! wtf. but cartridge world totally hooks it up. i get all my ink cartridges refilled here and they totally answer all my questions about why my printer doesn't recognize the new cartridges, etc. (a useful service for someone like me who is not super technologically proficient). i like how they recycle the old cartridges too. the service is awesome (i'm always in and out of there in less than 10 minutes) and there always seems to be a metered spot open right out front *knock on wood!* make sure you pay the meter though bc i feel like there's always cops around looking to give out tickets. read more

I just spoke with Wes by phone and he was a HUGE HELP! I had two visits to Office Max and no one noticed the issue- I was taking in my print cartridges to get ink replacement. I even went to Costco and no one could fill or replace the cartridges. One quick phone call and Wes knew the problem right away- I had removed the print HEADS (didn't even know that's what they were as they look like the ink cartridges)!
