My backyard was nothing but a pile of dirt, and the team at Excel converted it into my "Shangri-La!" It is a beautiful extension of my home and I so enjoy spending time in my yard day and night. The plants and the hardscape were completed with care, precision and beyond my expectations. I recently attended a block party and one of the people there introduced me as, "she's the one with the great backyard!" Additionally, working with the team was truly a pleasure. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would. I had an emergency project and Excel was the fastest to respond to come out and give me a quote. (My mother found Excel on line) All I needed was a sprinkler pipe capped. I have no experience in this task and didnt want to chance messing things up. I feel Ray took advantage of my mother and charged $450 for a job that only took approximately 45 minutes. Here's the thing other thing that really made me upset. My mom caught them looking thru my shed! When my mom asked what he was doing he replied "I forgot my shovel." How do you forget the main tool needed for the one job you're supposed to do?! And what professional company goes through a customer's things without permission? I would steer clear of this company. Price gouging and will go through personal belongings. Very unprofessional. All the original black flex underground drainage lines were blocked. Ray came in, took a look at the property, and offered solutions. How a business treats its customers and its commitment to excellent customer service and customer satisfaction is what differentiates the scam operation from a truly professional organization. Unfortunately, my experience with Excel Landscape/ Ray Williams has made it clear what they ultimately think about professionalism and customer satisfaction. The job I hired them for was a simple one. Replace a broken pipe below a sprinkler head, and replace two sprinkler heads. The job itself was pretty straight forward and not complicated at all. The problem stems from the fact that in turning on my sprinklers for adjustments, the employee disengaged one of the watering zones in the back yard. I discovered the next day, this issue, and called Ray to have this fixed right away. I left a message. No call. I texted him several days later. When he finally called, I explained the discrepancy. He promised to have his son call me. It is now a week later from the original date of service, and nothing, no follow up, no calls from anyone, nada. Just as bad is the fact that during a conversation with Ray on the date he provided the quote, I informed him of my military service. He never informed me that I was eligible for a military discount. I paid full price. I will never do business with this organization, and I warn others to be aware. Any business that takes advantage of Veterans is a red flag to all. read more

First of all-did not get work done from them. Did not even get to that point because I was so insulted when the Ray came out. He forgot about the appointment for a quote-luckily I followed up to make sure he was coming out. When he did come out, I showed him the design I drew up for the yard. He told me to e-mail him the design and FIGURE OUT THE MEASUREMENTS MYSEF. Said he would need to charge if he had to do it himself. Did not even give time to go through or listen to what I want. How could I know if you could deliver my plans if you don't even go through it with me. I felt very insulted-he basically wanted me to do his job for him as if it was beneath him and his time. We hired Excel to do a general check up of our sprinkler system, repair and adjust sprinkler heads, and repair drip irrigation in two flower beds. They responded fairly quickly to our inquiry and agreed to come out and take a look at the job at no cost. They remained in contact with us leading up to our appointment to apprise of us of the arrival time. Michael was very knowledgeable, professional, and polite. Rather than get other quotes, we hired Excel right then. The work was completed the next day and everything is in tip top shape. I had a sprinkler issue and wasn't able to turn off the water main. Ray answered when I called and was able to send his son over in a few hours. He stated he would turn off the water main and return at a later point to provide an estimate for the repair. Normally I would give at least 4 stars just for the responsiveness. However, the son did not figure out the issue, then he had his father talk to me on the phone during which time Ray asked me multiple times if I actually owned my home and talked over me. He charged me $150 for having someone come out and run "diagnostics" although I was not asked and did not agree to it beforehand (they did not fix the problem). My parents had a significant drain problem in their front yard which caused a lot of flooding last year during heavy rains. We decided to hire Excel Landscape to rectify this problem before the rainy season arrived. This company was extremely professional and were delightful to work with. They truly care about their work product and even came back to check on everything a few days after the job was completed. We obtained several bids and they were very competitive. Excel did our first landscape job 13 years ago and we were very pleased with the job. We went with Ray and company in Aug 2023 and a totally different experience. We wanted the front yard to be water wise hard scape, we showed Ray pics of ideas. With this project we did not get a drawing so we would know what completed project would look like. When we ask Ray to show us drawing of what to expect he came over with no drawing. Ray said drawings cost $. Ray then tells us to go pick out rocks. We went to look at rocks but when we got home his crew was already putting down rocks that we had not even discussed. There was to be heavy duty professional weed control ground cover and before job was even halfway complete grass was coming up everywhere. We called Ray the owner and he did come over, he replied "well you will just have to get out here with Round Up". Mind you the job only 1/2 done at this time. Then Ray says you all need to go pick out plants and tell his people were to put them... I then said "no you need to be here and suggest where the plants should go." This job was not a professional landscape job this time. Ray made excuses for everything. This job was $$,$$$.00. I can not recommend this company. read more

Had a small concrete patio put in my yard. They were able to start within 2 days of receiving an estimate. Very friendly and efficient workers. Cleaned up after themselves and removed all equipment daily. even played with my puppy when it was let out to do it's business. I had a beautiful patio in 4 days start to finish. This was by far one of the easiest home projects I've had done for me. I immediately felt I could trust Ray, the owner, after he promptly came out, assessed the work, and provided a very reasonable estimate. Sergio, the foreman went above and beyond - doing so many extras too that I didn't even contract for - just to make everything look it's best. Had an anti-siphon valve break at our new house and couldn't get it to stop gushing water unless we turned off the water main to the entire house. Our home warranty company sent someone out to cap it but we still needed to replace the valve, so we called Excel. Ray came out to take a look. He took a look at our (very odd) setup and explained what our options were. We're first-time homeowners and don't know the first thing about sprinklers or irrigation issues so we were pretty clueless but he was patient and talked us through everything. A few days later, Michael came out to replace the valve. Like I said, our setup is a little janky but he figured it out and also spent extra time helping us map out our sprinker system and reconnecting some wires that hadn't been working properly. He stayed late on a very hot day to help us with that and we really appreciated the knowledge from a professional. We found this landscaper online at Home adviser and contrary to all the ratings that was posted this landscaper is not worthy of 5 star rating not even a 2 star. Quality of work is poor and overcharged. Ray didn't give any consideration to some changes on the concrete layout that we like. Lack of supervision from Ray after he took our money he seldom visit his crew to check if his crew are doing right. He is just interested in collecting money. After they finished the concrete the crew did not clean the mess very well they left some cement sticking in our wall. We have a dilemma using a home advisor online we are thinking its a false advertisement. Beware people! If you are looking for a good landscaper research carefully.
