I was on Angi's list for a plumber, my pipe broke in the front of the house. They tried to have me use another company,which I had problems with in the past, and then I remembered Excel Plumbing. On the phone they were able to figure out the problem, and we came up with a date and time. Considering I was able to shut the water off to the front of the house , I did not have to have a late rate or weekend rate or an emergency rate. . They came out on time, saw the problem and in under an hour had the pipe and faucet replaced. They even gave me a discount for being a prior customer. I spent several days getting estimates on a new air conditioning system to replace our 20-year old unit. After having four companies come out for a bid, I selected Excel...which turned out to be a great decision. For the estimate, their representative, Dennis, arrived promptly and carried out what I thought was a pretty thorough and detailed evaluation of our current system and associated equipment. I was pretty impressed by his expertise and sense of confidence plus good advice. I gave him my budget range and told him I wanted a top-line AC. The next day, Excel sent me an estimate for a Trane system that was several hundred below the other estimates for a comparable unit -- and over $1,000 LESS than ABT who also came out to bid. As an aside, much as I value ABT's efficiency, great prices & service on appliances and electronics, I'm guessing they farm out their heating and air conditioning services to a contractor (like Costco does) because they wouldn't budge on the price of the IDENTICAL Trane I ultimately had installed - not to mention they wanted to install a 3 ton instead of a 4 ton like we've had since the house was built. Another story...but, I digress, sorry. Their installation tech, Mario. arrived right on time. It him took about 7 hours to dismantle the old system, dispose of it and install the new Trane compressor and condensing unit. If you've never had a system replaced (or installed) it's a typical installation time-frame. Mario performed quality work, quietly and efficiently. When he was finished, the new AC exceeded my expectations! From beginning through completion he did an impeccable job of installing then cleaning up the basement work area and waited until we'd tested the system several times to make sure he'd tweaked it perfectly to spec. He even underscored the Trane website info on both homeowner information packets to make sure I register the components to assure we get the 10-year warranty. Bottom line, I can't say enough about Excel, their excellent pricing and faultless installation that went above and beyond what we anticipated. Will definitely make them my go-to for all our HVAC needs. Highly recommended! read more

This is my new go-to plumbing outfit. Luke is a keeper! From the start, Jen in the office provides super prompt communication & feedback. They even text you a photo of the technician they're sending before your appointment, which is a small detail, but an early example of how Excel is different and on top of things. Who they sent was awesome--Luke was efficient and definitely an expert. He installed a new sink disposal and thoroughly explained what he was doing, what to do in case of stops, and how to best maintain it. Our tank water heater had to be replaced, and we called Excel after reading all the positive reviews for a quote on a new one. We were interested in a tankless water heater and they came out and explained the pros/cons very well, and offered a really great price to install one. Once we decided to move forward, they were able to come out quickly to install the new Navien tankless water heater and went over how to operate and maintain it. Although there was one miscommunicated feature of the agreed upon quote, they were eager to resolve it and did so professionally and quickly. Literally everyone we spoke to from installers, to customer service, to management were all extremely nice and helpful. We will definitely be using Excel for all our major plumbing needs going forward. read more

Here is my advice for everyone. If you're calling the plumber out to fix something, you're usually desperate for a resolution. They surely know how to work the system to get the most $$$ out of you. Have a camera filming everything on site and time everything. I won't even get into my story but long story short, they basically pretended to do something but did absolutely minimal and charged me up the a%%. I got another plumber to come out and confirmed that they didn't do any of the work they wrote up. Not worth suing for $2000+. Other independent plumber did everything for 1/4th the cost. read more

Issue/ Reason For Visit: Apparent storm underground drainage issue, likely blocked or broken underground pipe Day one: $250 for video camera analysis of underground pipe Learned a lot about where the under ground drains are, what they look like, etc. then we found what looked like a mud blockage, down near the front of the yard (near street) he shares the news about the blockage and says that a hydro jet would blast through the obstruction, a zero risk solution. He also said he recorded the whole video session and would send me the copy. Everything made sense. I was excited to get the issue resolved and was then quoted another $750 for the hydro test (so now up to $1000). Fine, I accepted, since it will resolve the issue. Never got the video sent to me.... I'm still hoping to get it at some point... Day Two: A different guy comes for the "hydro jet" test....... But the hose that he was putting in the ground (thru the same opening that the camera was used) was getting stuck, or wouldn't make a turn in the pipes (in spite of the fact that the camera had no issues getting all the way (85') to the street (or technically- the mud block right before). They tried going through a different hole and another, but had no success getting it to head towards the blockage. Looks like it just couldn't make the through an existing elbow. Finally, it was decided that it's of no hope on a Friday afternoon and I'm probably gonna have to tear the yard up to fix the problem. Before the guy leaves, he says that I'm still on the hook for the entire price of $1000, but 1) they will offer a discount of $250 (taking it down to $750 total), and I should be paying more, because it's technically another $375 every time they 'stick it in a new hole'. The 'sticking it in different holes' thing, by the way, took about 10 minutes or so each time (so that $375 thing, eh). I'm not comfortable with this, as I feel that they shouldn't have recommended the hydro if they thought it couldn't be done. or at least, they should have warned me about the risk of It not working. I mean, how am I supposed to know whether or not their hydro hose would fit or turn inside of the pipes? Why didn't the guy from Day One recognize a potential Hydro Jet issue? They did the video inspection, they recommended the service (which I hadn't even heard of until that point) and their hydro 'head' (and garden hose with a head) wouldn't fit. But here I am, in good faith and paid in with a $500 deposit already, on the phone with them to explain the unfairness. I managed to take a picture of the truck, which clearly says 'our work is guaranteed'. Waited for a call back from their manager, but he never called me back.... I still didn't get that video, either, so now I'm out $500 with nothing to show for it...... Unfortunately, I'll now be looking for a new plumber to work with. read more

I needed to have a spillcock replaced that was leaking on the outside of my house. Excel came out the next day and was able to see the issue and we decided to replace the entire spillcock because it was not frostproof and was honestly falling apart. I had another company come the day before and gave me a quote that was significantly higher than Excel. They had the parts ready to go and with looking at their reviews, I decided to choose them...I am happy I did. They were able to get everything done quickly and actually let me ask questions about the process of installing it. Will definitely use Excel again for all of my plumbing needs! read more

This was a basic, replace corroded faucets for our washer. They came out promptly and did the work at the price they quoted. The only issue I had was, the job request asked that the plumber handle the water shut-off, which they refused to do because of some issues with the shut off valve. I ended up using a different plumber to turn off the water main, they had no problem with it. Would have been five stars if they did the job as I requested. read more

Had a leak in my bathtub faucet that needed to be repaired. Called Excel Plumbing along with two other local competitors to make sure I was getting fair and honest quotes. Excel's price was $690, which was ridiculously high for a very simple and easy job. Ended up getting the job done for $185 . The repair took less than one hour and included changing both hot and cold cartridges. Will never call Excel again because they are a RIP-OFF! Thanks for the reply Thom! While I agree that mistakes happen and we all should be tolerant of this. In my opinion, this was not a mistake, but intentional gouging. read more

Had a toilet that was leaking; probably could be fixed, but it was old and I wanted to eventually switch a tall model, so decided this was the time for a new install. They responded within 10 minutes of requesting a quote and asked a couple questions. It was a Saturday night, so they gave me an estimate, and asked if I needed a Sunday install or could I wait for Monday. On Monday, after checking with their supplier, they gave me an exact price, we set it up for Tuesday. The tech came exactly on time after they sent me a call-ahead text with his pic. The install went smooth, no surprise costs, no mess, exact toilet we agreed upon. Price was comparable to other quotes obtained on Yelp. I highly recommend this company. read more

The technician (a Russian guy) was very nice and explained to me how to avoid killing the starter on my water heater. He said I've killed the starter from cleaning around the water heater using spray bottle with water and Clorox solution. He also explained that the starter is very sensitive to smelly things like aerosol spray. I highly recommend this company. Fantastic! Called excel to get an estimate for replacing a couple outdoor faucets with anti-freeze ones, and they were able to come a couple days later on a Saturday at my request. Then, fortunately for the timing, but unfortunately, my garbage disposal started leaking and found out just before the appointment. Called them up, and they were able to replace it quickly on the spot at the time of the estimate I had. Excel was quick to respond on Yelp and their prices were on par with most other companies I asked. Recommended them numerous times to people I knew, prior to the second time we used them. Had to use them a second time for a water heater in a different property. Tech wanted to replace the water valve. A valve seldom used. Told him to wait owner for decision from wife. Did not wait, replaced it. They wanted $225.00 for a $20.00 (looked up pricing online) part and labor that should have been included. Settle for $75.00. A couple of days later went down to the utility room and notice the water valve they replaced rubber handle was burnt while being installed by the tech. Can no longer recommend Excel read more

Excellent company with a quick response after leaving a message on a Sunday. They arrived as scheduled the following day to check our plumbing issue in our kitchen. After viewing our problem Brian suggested we call our kitchen contractor to fix the problem. He admitted that they could damage our newly remodeled kitchen when fixing our leak. Wow, he was kind enough to be honest and didn't charge us for the call. We had used Excel in the past when we had a broken sewer line going out of the house to the front yard. After three days of a waste pipe problem, and working with Sears Home Services to get it fixed, I was completely exasperated. It was now a holiday weekend and on Friday was told by more than one company that they couldn't come out until Wednesday at the earliest. I left a late night message for Excel Pluming and they called my back first thing on Saturday morning. Called for basic rodding - quoted me $300 (lower with coupon). Called me and said jet rodding recommended for $700 - I let them know that we've always done basic rodding and it's been fine. Sent the technician to do basic rodding. When the technician arrived, said he'd only do jet rodding and if basic rodding, he'd have another person come for $385 not $300. I told him no thanks. He wanted to still charge me $30 to come out - I said no way!! Ridiculous. I'm going to call a different company. read more

My management company called Excel out to deal with a clogged soil pipe. They came out at the end of the day which I thought was great as having an unusable toilet is difficult. I gave them my contact info and helped them get things figured out. When I left they were dealing with the unit owner whose toilet was affected. When I came back the next morning there was a literal piece of excrement left on top of the floor drain in the area of the basement where they accessed the clean out. At first I thought it might have backed up after they left but it was too large a piece to have come through the floor drain. Which means they cleaned it out of the stack and left it there! I was horrified and called the management company who called Excel who apparently couldn't send someone so the paid for our regular cleaning guy to come in and disinfect the area. I will never let anyone from Excel set foot on the property again. read more
