After the install, an alarm kept going off....I called CAPPS and they immediately at no added charge, warranty in full effect, found the source of the problem - a bad battery backup unit. A new one was put in place...problem solved. Had an appointment for between 8:30 -9:30 this morning. Already not off to a good start. They called at 8:35 and said they would come later in the day...probably late morning. They could have called earlier. I'm tired of these companies thinking they can inconvenience us and change times at the last minute. We have schedules too. These clowns are a bunch of con-artists who try to rip people off. My condo HOA uses them and they came to my building to evaluate my kitchen drain pipe because my stupid crazy neighbor complained of the knocking noise the pvc pipes made when hot water was draining. It's a shared pipe ( we share the kitchen wall) that when hot water is being drained either from the tap or poured from a tea kettle or pot, the pipe makes a knocking or tapping sound. A plumber from another company said that my neighbor had her kitchen remodeled and a deeper sink was installed. So the drain pipes for her new deeper sink was lowered almost touching the bottom of the cabinets; thus possibly causing the tapping or knocking sound. The arrogant plumber from Capps Plumbing tried to bully me and even accused me of lying saying that the knocking of the pipes was coming from my unit, the inlet pipes, and that he had to open up the walls to investigate. I was appauled by that accusation and unprofessional remarks and insisted that it was any hot water that was drained through the pvc drain pipes by either me or my neighbor that caused the knocking noise. I told him to have his partner go to my neighbor's unit and he stay with me and have my neighbor turn on the hot water from the tap....sure enough the pipes made a knocking sound. He was embarrassed and said he would tell the HOA that they needed to open the wall on both sides to start the repairs. What a crock of s#$%! Im no plumber, but Im smart enough to know that I was potentially being scammed. Stay the hell away from this company! I can't believe my HOA uses this crooked company! read more

My girlfriend had a clogged toilet. She calls Capps to fix the problem. They unclogged it twice in 3 days then replaced the toilet. The toilet had no known issues prior to this. No seals were replaced, internal flushing system, nothing was wrong with the toilet except being clogged. A third clogging happened a few weeks later with this "new toilet". There 24hr service line didn't work either. The property manager for the condos said Capps was fired in 2025 for taking advantage of the elderly residents and making unnecessary repairs just like this. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY SUCK. We called Capps to install a kitchen faucet. They promised a 9-12 appt. Then they called and said they were behind and they would let us know when a plumber was on his way. Then they called and said he was delayed. All we got was the run a round and no service. We spent a whole day with lousy customer service. read more

My 86 year old widowed mother needed to ha her 40 gallon gas water heater replaced. Capps plumbing charged her $3031.00 it is ridiculous. I got a quote forv$1550.00 Whe n I spoke to Mr Capps he told me he made a mistake and over charged my Mom $420.00. I think it is $1500. Yet he refused to give her a refund. I'm forced to agree with the other 45 customers who rated this business 1 star. If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with Gabriel was exactly the same as others--his team broke my property and then tried to force me to pay for repairs. They made things worse, not better. My bathtub cartridge was working fine before their visit; I could turn it off without issue. However, the technician "purposely" broke it, rendering it impossible to turn off completely. I have video evidence showing how it worked before and after their visit, but their technician refused to allow me to record what they were doing. After he aggressively turned the knob, water gushed out uncontrollably. Then, they tried to charge me $400 to fix it on the same day. It became clear that their goal was to make things worse as part of a trap. When they attempted to remove the old cartridge, they left a piece stuck inside the valve, claiming they couldn't get it out after pretending to work on it for 30 minutes. They gave me two options: 1) Pay $1,500 to have them break open my wall to replace the valve, or 2) Pay the service fee and have them leave. By now, I realized their plan: charge $150 for 30 minutes of "work," but they spent 10 of those minutes outside in their van, supposedly calling someone in the office, with no work being done. So in the end, I was expected to pay $400 (which included $300 for doing nothing and $100 just for showing up). I had to threaten to call the police just to settle on paying the $150 for their minimal effort. Long story short, stay far away from this business. I eventually found true professionals who completed the job at half the price. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs. read more

We called the Capps team about an irrigation pump leak in our basement that needed urgent attention. They scheduled an appointment 3 hours out only to tell us once arriving that they do not service irrigation pumps since they are not connected to drinking water or sewage (untrue, as they are connected for our home). Another plumber was able to come out and fix the leak shortly thereafter and informed us that any plumber would be licensed to fix the issue. We paid Capps $81 for the 5 minute service call just to be told incorrectly that they were licensed to help, so we're very disappointed with their service. read more

Nov. 30,2022 - - Tony & Steve. . Had gas line piping to be replaced in an old (80+ year) house. Noticed by my HVAC tech- arranged with Capps to handle it since they were handling a hot water tank situation. Guys were great - Tony & Steve did a plain walk thru of what they were going to do and how long it should take. In view of cold temps, they heated up the house before they brought in supplies/tools and had to shut off the gas. Very professional and helpful in identifying and showing me all the gas connections hidden in the basement drop-ceiling. Great job, cleaned up every scrap, finished in the time they expected. No surprises in either work needed or costs. Had everything sealed up and back up and running before the house even got down to 60-degrees. Thanks, Gents! read more

Horrible experience with Capps. My HOA hired them for a rodding and that alone took an entire weekend which means they got to bill an insane amount for a rodding. Be careful and look elsewhere before deciding on them. Will not recommend or use them ever again. After they finished i had stained baseboards my stairs were scratched up my yard was destroyed and im pretty sure they broke the seal under my toilet. read more

Before I hired the team at Capps, I had been 'round and round' with other plumbers, and none of them are as good as Capps, here's why! After having two or three plumbers out, Capps showed up with their full range of professional equipment, yet before they did, they sent me a detailed email of the expert who was going to visit the house, complete with a detailed description and a photo! No other plumbers have done this for me. Every member of the team on several occasions wore a mask, greatly appreciated during Covid-19! For each job needed, (and there were several!), Capps sent an expert on that topic to isolate, troubleshoot, and fix the problem. From a simple drain clog to a full 4-inch router, the Capps team can do it all: Clogged drain - fixed! Giant root ball stopping the drainage to the city line 50ft down - fixed! Basement flood clean up - fixed! Outside line installation, complete with city permit and concrete slab removal? - fixed! (now I need a concrete slab expert... Ha!) Incorrectly "fixed" drain cover - torn out, replaced, and fixed! Removal of thick roots in the system - all gone! It's nice to know the teams I worked with at Capps are around if anything else goes wrong. ~ May your plumbing never fail! read more

Erick called before coming. We received an email with his picture before he arrived. He wore a mask the whole time. Prepared us for worse case scenario. Then was able to fix without anything major. Capps Plumbing was at my home doing some repairs for my condo association. While they were here, I asked about getting a new toilet since mine was over 20 years old. They were able to install a new toilet that day, July 9, 2020. On September 25, 2020, my new toilet clogged. I called Capps and was told if it's a clog they don't fix it for free, despite it being a brand-new toilet. I called another company to unclog the toilet. On October 26, 2020, the toilet clogged again and I had to have it augured again by another company. On January 7, 2021, the toilet clogged again and I had to have it augured again by another company. I'm totally disgusted by the poor product Capps provided and the very poor customer service in response to my having problems with the brand-new toilet. They certainly didn't stand by their product or work. read more

1000% do not recommend this company. Had a leak in my basement ceiling they charged an exorbitant $370 diagnostic fee which consisted of the "plumber" spending all of 5 minutes to find the source of the leak. Diagnosed the leak as coming from my water line to my fridge on my main level charged me an additional nearly $500 to replace the "leaking" water line and left. But lo and behold the leak was still there and completely unchanged. They came back out and tried to charge me another diagnostic fee of $370 which i refused to pay. Then the plumber said it's the internal water line inside the fridge and they don't fix that. When i asked what about the $500 i paid for the repair that didn't fix the problem the tech told me he'd have the manager call me about it since it clearly wasn't the cause of the leak. Never did get that call but after I called them several times over a good week plus finally got to talk to a manager. First the manager told me that they fixed the leak and i must have developed a new one the second they left but as a courtesy hed refund me $50. when i made it clear to him that no one in their right mind would believe that garbage he told me he'd have the owner call me. Owner calls me and tries to gaslight me further telling me their repair was so good that my fridge couldn't handle their new water line and that's why the internal water line cracked and they did in fact fix the leak but i developed a new problem instantaneously after they left. This company does not stand by their work and they willl not take accountability for their mistakes. So i spent nearly $900 for absolutely nothing. The owner then decided to refund me a whole $75 and was surprised i wasn't thankful for it. Capps plumbing is a joke and incompetent. DO NOT USE!! read more

So I get a written response from the company, two and a half years after my original review. It reminded me to update my original review. Guess what? The cast iron pipe still isn't leaking, after new solder joints were installed. And there hasn't been any leaking from the copper pipe, after the valve was tightened. Nothing has had been replaced, as Capps recommended and proposed to do. It's still the same cast iron, the same copper pipe. Two and a half years later. No leaks. If you have a plumbing emergency, please choose carefully. Look at the one-star reviews this company is getting. And all related to poor customer service, and exorbitant charges. There are better, more reputable plumbers out there. read more

After using Capps in the past for an ejector pump, I called them when I had no running water in my master bathroom. I assumed it was a frozen pipe due to the very cold weather. (I was correct.) While I very much appreciated that they were able to send a repairman within a few hours, I am still reeling from the amount that I was charged. I was told they were only servicing emergencies that day and emergency prices were in effect. I felt I had no recourse but to pay the extremely high price. BTW, it was on 12/23, not a holiday. Days later, I'm still bothered by the price and I feel that I was taken advantage of and will probably not use Capps again. Two stars because they were able to thaw the frozen pipe. read more

Save yourself the time, energy, and experience CALL someone else! For months, on & off, my toilet gets clogged really easily. Plunging it takes longer than 20 minutes to unclog it. My toilet also does random phantom flushes, sometimes 3 or 4 times in a row. Last night, my toilet flushed backwards as in the water came up from the bottom filled the bowl and after the tank filled up again, the water slowly drained out until It bubbled at the bottom of the toilet. It continued to do the same if I flushed the toilet. Since there is only 1 bathroom where I live, I decided it was best to try plunging it yet again. After about 15 minutes, the toilet started to flush properly. And, no nothing was put down the toilet nor was anything flushed directly prior that would have clogged the toilet. Because of the continued randomness, I called Capps plumbing last night, to have someone come this morning to take a look. At 830am I recieved a call that said a plumber would be here later in the morning and I would get a call 30 mins ahead of time. Okay, so that was great, or so I thought. At 11:45am I called Capps to get an update. Was called back and told that the plumber was on another site on something taking longer than expected, but he would be there in a bit. Okay, it happens no bid deal. The guy shows up at 2pm, again it happens so no big deal. I told him how my toilet has been doing random phantom flushes, that it clogs really easily and showed him my video from last night of my toilet flushing backwards. He goes to the toilet, flushes it and tells me there is nothing wrong with it. I explained that there is 1 bathroom in my place, I spent 20 minutes plunging it last night so it would work. He puts some toilet paper in the toilet and flushes it again. Tells me again, nothing is wrong. I explained that it gets clogged easily, again, and flushes on its own. It usually takes 20 minutes of plunging to fix it. He took the top off to look and asked if I had the receipt for when it was replaced, which I did and Capps had replaced it in 2016. He said it's been too long for the warranty, and I said okay but something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. The guy tells me it's not the toilet and it's probably something lower down such as the main or pipes. Which I responded with, so are you not going to do anything? Then he said probably other people using water at the same time in the building is causing it to backup. Perplexed, I said there is no backup, it's getting clogged easily. He asked me if the previous toilet did the same thing, which it did not. So, the guy tells me again there is nothing wrong... He had no equipment with him, did not investigate further. Basically, because the toilet was flushing correct at that exact moment, somehow what I was saying was totally irrelevant. I proceeded to tell him he could leave if he can't figure out what to do and I'll call another company. He tells me they will say the same thing. So, he left and I called Capps to speak to an owner (I demanded immediately). So a few minutes later I get a call back, from Randy who is an owner, who in an angry tone goes "it's Saturday afternoon and I'm being paged." Apparently, I was interupting his Saturday afternoon, as if I had nothing important to get done today myself. I started to explain how I was called at 830 am telling me someone would be here late morning. Randy interrupts me and says it was him who called me. I said okay, can I finish? So I start again, then Randy interrupts me again and tells me to SHUT UP in a very rude tone of voice. I was not going to allow a person to talk to me that way, so I hung up on him. I did call a different company instead, who agreed that sitting there flushing a toilet over and over is not the proper way to investigate when a customer has been experiencing problems on & off. I am SO glad I wasted my entire Saturday to just be told over and over that nothing was wrong and to be told to shut up by the owner. Now, his company gets a bad review on social media instead because of the inexcusable unprofessionalism. Thanks for wasting my time, you should be ashamed of yourself. I hope no one else has a similar experience or is smart enough to call someone else entirely. Scammers and thieves! Don't hire them. Hired them to unclog pipes at my house. They came out and didn't get anything fixed! Told me that my pipes were completely collapsed and they couldn't unclog anything. Charged me over $600.00. Had another company come out the next day and they were able to unclog everything. I was so upset that Capps basically ripped me off and gave me a false reason of why they weren't able to fix the problem. I called them asking them to refund me at least HALF my money back. My husband is going through chemo and has terminal cancer. Im the only one working and its not easy to pay two plumbers for the job that one should have done. Especially when Capps gave a false reason of why they couldn't fix it. Capps came out to inspect to see if the other Company was really able to fix the issues. The owner called me back almost 5 days later telling me that my pipes were installed wrong when the house was built and he wont refund me any money. He literally said ''you can take me to court if you want but I will win anyway''.'' You can write as many reviews as you want but I will take them all down anyway''. How can an owner of the company speak to a customer that way? I never asked for a full refund! I asked if they could at least pay me back half because the guy did come out but he didn't get anything done. Never dealt with such nasty ownership ever! read more

I've used Capps a few times. Unimpressed with Joe (owner). Had a guy out one time, didn't even have the right size key to shut off my water main. Had to call the village to do it for me. Had a new water main valve installed and had to call them back as it was leaking. Watch out for their warranties... They say one thing, but when the time comes to have warranty work - they'll make you cal back several times then Joe will explain how the warranty means something completely different. Get a detailed statement of warranty written on your receipt. Won't do business with Capps any longer. Oh, when they come over... They will slap stickers all over your stuff with their phone number. And they charge service calls... Umm, isn't that the cost of normal business for them? That's like charging your company for your commute to work every day. 04/20/18 - Don't see any incentive to try Capps ever again. Put simply, Joe is an ass. Wouldn't want to do any business that would put a dollar in his pocket... after all, his reputation is worth all the money he needs. There are plenty of other mom and pop plumbers that I would rather support to help put food on the table with. read more

We had a frozen pipe during the recent deep freeze. They thawed the pipe without having to cut into any floors, walls, or ceiling (using electricity). Very quick and friendly service. Not cheap, but for our situation, worth it. read more

Today, I called garbage disposal problem. Service fee was $78. He proposal to replace for $381(replacement + service fee). That time, I didn't decide that. After 4 hour, I request to replace new one. They said I have to pay service fee $78. So I didn't do it. I don't understand why I have to pay service fee twice. I think I have to return service fee $78 and I have to pay $381. Called Capps after having a plumber come out and quote me an insane quote to have my sump pump replaced. The plumber also had a high price for an ejector. Dan from CAPPS came out to my residence and installed a new sump pump, backup pump with battery, and a new ejector. The job was a clean one with no hanging cords. Dan wore shoe covers while walking through my home, and was cautious. He was polite and explained the functions of the system, the warranty, and care for the system. Job well done CAPPS! I am writing this on behalf of my parents, as they do not want to write a bad review despite the bad service they received. I was in the house when they came in so I was able to witness everything. My parents regret not looking up their reviews before calling them. They told multiple lies to my mother and trapped her into buying a valve for $130. Our hot water tank broke, so they made a call to Capps to come by the morning of 12/31. 1. My mother requested for the $95 estimate fee to be waived since she was going to use them for the job. This fee is just for them to come out to take a look at the issue. She told him to please call the manager, because this has been done in the past as we are a returning customer. My mother was on the phone when the tech made the call to Joe, but I was able to listen to the tech's conversation. He did not say a word about us being a repeat customer, and that this had been done before. The tech told her it was denied. She then asked him if he had told the manager that we were returning customers, and he lied and said that he had told Joe multiple times but the request was denied. 2. He said they were going to charge less than the original price, which was 1.5x the normal rate because he had to come out on a holiday. He did not mention this at all when we called them the previous day. We would have not called them if we had known that the rate was going to be 1.5x the normal charge, because it was the day before new years. 3. He said that the piercing valve we had was illegal, even though the system was initially installed by their company. He had cut the piercing valve off already before telling us that we either could install it ourselves because it would be illegal for them to install it, or we could pay $130 for a legal one. I asked him why he did not tell my mother about this BEFORE cutting it, and he could not answer me directly the first time. I repeated the question again, and he said he could not see it clearly. Now, why would you cut something without knowing what it was? Smells like a TRAP to me. I had all the heeby jeebies during the entire process. Something definitely felt off. They took advantage of my mom and lied to her. read more
