Me and my friend went to dine in around 4:30 today and wanted to sit inside (Keep in mind during this review that there was absolutely no one else in the indoor dining area when we sat down). We were greeted with a "Hey girls, what would you like to drink?" Neither of us thought anything about this but then when other tables came in the waitress (It said her name was Anden on the receipt) greeted the other tables with smiles and explained what was unavailable to order and what were the specials for today. We frequent Exit Zero during the summer. We always stick to the Americano burger and spicy chicken sandwich. Both are always on point. This time I decided to try the seafood pot pie. The flavor was fantastic BUT there is barely any seafood. Presentation is impressive. It came out with a large crusty dome that had to be penetrated to gain access to the soup. Once you get through the pastry you roughly have maybe a half inch of broth. I found two pieces of shrimp that looked to be one cut in half and one small lobster claw meat. This meal was an appetizer size and was not worth $33. The cauliflower bites (general Tsos sauce) were fantastic and my wife enjoyed her burger. We will be back but I will never try anything different after this experience. read more

Four of us went here on an October Saturday. Place was fairly busy but we were seated right away. The place is quite small but has high ceilings which made it quite loud. Two of us ordered burgers and two ordered curries, one of which was the special. Shortly after ordering we were informed the special had sold out. That's pretty poor considering it isn't even 6:30 and a Saturday. After waiting quite a while for our appetizer we were informed that the other curry had also sold out. Alternate curries were ordered. Finally the food did arrive: the burger was actually really good. The curries were flavorful but I thought expensive considering what you got. Maybe lack of supply is driving up the price? In any case I ordered the curry, but I would come back for the burger. I hear brunch is good too. Service was pleasant but slow - it took well over two hours to complete the visit and we weren't there any longer than necessary, so you couldn't accuse them of chasing you out of there. The food was good, albeit not outstanding, and quite typical of Cape May restaurants in that the product didn't fully justify the high price. Two of us had a fun and tasty experience at EZFS. When we arrived (Sunday night before Labor Day) at 6:15 or so, we were told the wait would be 1 hour to 1 hour and 15. Decided to stick it out, since we were able to obtain drinks and hang out. Sadly, the only chairs available (to anyone) were high stools with teensy seats--hard to perch there, especially when the cocktails kicked in. (The hostess told us when we asked for more normal chairs that the city had recently threatened to fine them for having many folks sitting and waiting for tables, so I can't blame them for not trying to keep waiting people happy.) But we had each other, so we had fun, competing at the NYT Spelling Bee on our phones, watching families play corn hole, and kids play with other outdoor game stuff. It did take the whole hour and 15 til they seated us, at which point we were sure ready to chow down. We ordered the hot chicken sandwich and the Thai lobster, asking for the latter to be dialed up a bit hotter than level 3. It was quite hot, and we are spice troopers! Not too much for us to handle, but almost! The lobster was fine, admirably produced, but ultimately I guess I don't want lobster to be drowned in spicy curry--my bad for not realizing that sooner. But the hot chick sandwich--believe the hype, people! It's worth the wait--one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Had a nice ice cold Cape May IPA with the food--perfect. The service was very good, and quite friendly. A word about the drinks menu: virtually every cocktail on the list contains elements that are either smoky, herbal, floral, coconutty, or spicy. I get that this is the new world order--I just don't like it. Hence, I ordered a gin martini, which the bartender gamely attempted, with partial success. We would happily return to Exit Zero, and we would try to arrive early, to avoid a long and physically uncomfortable wait. read more

Neat little spot serving an eclectic blend of food, with about a third of the menu having an Indian theme. The loaded tots app was good, though it was more of a breakfast type of dish. We had the Bollywood burger, which had a nice blending of flavors, but the bun fell apart halfway though. Also, the Hot Chick sandwich was bland...not really spicy at all, and again the bun fell apart. Beer is reasonable, but the mixed drinks are way overpriced. Nice having live music outdoors, though, so we might give them another shot down the road. Hopefully they change to sturdier buns to handle their handhelds. read more

I read many good things about Exit Zero and I was excited about trying it out. My family of 5 were extremely disappointed. It was awful. The curry and pad thai were terrible, incredibly overpriced. In addition, their margarita is awful, it is all sugar and extremely sour. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer is soggy and wet, tastes terrible. The kids meals were also disappointing, the only good part of this meal was the Thai wings. Please note that the menu is also very overpriced. read more

We went for a late breakfast. For the prices, this should have been a better experience. Here are a couple of my recommendations to the owners: 1. The coffee: It's always the first test of a breakfast spot and is usually a good indicator of what is coming. Maybe it was just a bad day or maybe it's the coffee that has been selected. Either way, I did not enjoy it. That bitter, acerbic coffee is not my cup of ... coffee. 2. It reminds me of the old joke, "The food at this restaurant is so bad. I know, and such small portions, too", but service 101 at breakfast time is you never, ever let a coffee get down to the last drop. Really, that should be true for any drink, and here we had to ask for refills on both coffee and water. Bad form. 3. My food was decent but a breakfast sandwich is almost impossible to mess up. Some others in my family were not totally satisfied with their meals, but that was on them (didn't fully read the menu). But when I got the final bill, I was really quite surprised given the overall quality of the food and the service. In summary, while it's hip and trendy and there is a cool drink menu, I'd say you could largely skip this place until they've had some more time (and poor reviews) to make the food experience worth what they are charging. read more

Service wasn't the greatest. Seated fairly quickly, staff was not very observant and checking on their tables/guests. Once order was placed for Brunch it took over an hour for food to arrive. Being it a brunch meal/menu there was a limited options so there shouldn't have been that long of a wait for food. There were not that many people there either for it to tale that long once order was placed. There were no kids options on the menu. $15 for a plain cheese burger ( just meat and cheese and bun!) and fries and then another $2.00 for a CAN of soda. We're so glad that other positive reviews led us to this hidden gem. It is a bit off the beaten track but still an easy walk from the Washington Mall. Casual, festive outdoor seating (worth waiting for - plenty of games to pass the time) complemented by lovely live music (not too loud). Burgers/Asian fusion might sound a little odd, but there were so many great options on the menu, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The drinks were also excellent, and the service was friendly. We can't wait to come back during our next visit to Cape May. read more

The atmosphere of this spot was great. They had some live music, lawn games, and a nice little bar inside that you could enjoy while waiting for a table. We had a party of 6 so we got a bunch of different entrees (butter chicken, "hot chick" sandwich, Buffalo cauliflower, Bbq cauliflower. Mac n cheese [regular - not with lobster or seafood]t,he chopper" salad). The butter chicken and Mac N cheese were not something we would get again. The butter chicken, which is traditionally on the sweeter side, tasted very very acidic and sour and was not a winner. Such a different eclectic place with delicious food. I ordered the "Hot Chick" sandwich, which was fried chicken with some yummy sauce including sriracha. This was the best fried chicken sandwich I ever had. My wife had the Bollywood burger, an Indian twist on an American burger. She told me that was the best burger she ever had. Besides mixing all these flavors the food is of very good quality. We also ordered the Indian Disco fries, waffle fries mixed with curry cheese, which was excellent as well. The portions are big and we couldn't finish everything. The staff was nice and pretty relaxed. We really enjoyed this place with a well done creative design. read more

Phenomenal chicken sandwich, great mix of flavors and the chicken was perfectly cooked, and surprisingly they served indian food-which was just amazing! We wanted to eat here because there was a big crowd every night when we drove by. We stayed in cape May for 4 nights. But we never got to come here. We did get gas on our way out and the redhead gas attendant was such a sweetheart. We went into the little shop inside and there was some really cool retro art and games to buy. It's very unique. We have been coming here for years. Did takeout last summer and it was always so good. This meal we weren't impressed. Our waitress was very unfriendly and just seemed overwhelmed. Our food was good cauliflower, pad Thai and chicken and shrimp. The pad Thai was hot and no option for mild not great. For such an iconic dish there should be options. I got the jalepeno margarita. Had it before and it was so good. This one tasted like lemonade with pepper on the rim. There was barely alcohol because two margs and i felt fine. Not great. Would have gotten lemonade instead. It really had too much Ice. I had another just to be sure and yep second just as bad the first. For 11 bucks each I will pass and make my own. Sorry guys this was a big disappointment. Don't get too big that you can't do the the basics of making drinks and accommodate food requests. Also hire a waitstaff that actually smiles and refills drinks. We wish we read more recent reviews before heading over to exit zero. We have kids going out to eat is a luxury. We have to find someone to watch them or take them. We were so excited to go to a fun family friendly place. This was a true bummer of a meal and will find a better go to for our family dinner next summer. We have a place in cape may point so this is our go to because of location but we will be going elsewhere next year. Went down to Cape May last weekend for a quick getaway. Stopped here for lunch before checking into our room. We were greeted outside right away. We waited for a short time and got seated outside. Ordered a cape may white and my wife ordered a grapefruit juice cocktail. For lunch we split the mega-tots and a burger. The drinks were cold and delicious. The burger was juicy and the bun was crazy good. The fries were crispy. The tot dish was great with the bacon , goat cheese and egg combo. Service was friendly and prompt. Place was very clean. When we arrived in the dining room we were a bit confused. There was no sign indicating if guests should seat themselves or wait for a hostess to be seated. After a few moments of staff not greeting us we took it upon ourselves to grab a table for two. Just a few moments later a very cordial server came over and took our drink orders and gave us menus. I got a regular cup of coffee and enjoyed it. It taste MUCH better than typical diner coffee. Our orders were taken shortly after coffee arrived. I ordered the huevos rancheros (scrambled eggs on top) and everything was SUPER fresh and yummy! The order came with a side of bacon...cooked perfectly! My boyfriend got the lobster sunrise breakfast sandwich. He said everything was very yummy but there wasn't enough lobster to justify $16.The tator tots are some of the best I've had. Crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. We definitely recommend The Filling Station. We look forward to our next trip back to try the dinner menu! read more

This place was the first place my family and I went to while on our trip in Cape May. When we arrived, it was 11:45 and they were still serving breakfast. Our waitress kindly asked the cook if we could order from the lunch menu that started at noon and he agreed. We ordered the sriracha cauliflower and it was delicious. My husband ordered the ham and Swiss panini and said it was delicious. I ordered the salmon sandwich and was not pleased. They literally slapped a salmon filet in between a brioche bun. There wasn't much of a taste to it. The reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because even though my dish was not great, everything else was. Our waitress even ran my husband's credit card out to us when we forgot it. read more
