The Chef appears to be Scottish. Ever eat Scottish food? There is a reason Indian restaurants outnumber Scottish ones 1.783 million to one. And it's not population. Came here on a Saturday for dinner and it was really good!! If you're visiting the area, it's a unique restaurant that was built into a gas station. The decor is really unique and and gives old school vibes. The wait was pretty long though so you may want to come early. We had to wait 1 hour to be seated outside. They have inside and outside dining. However, they do have corn hole to keep you entertained and you can order drinks at the bar inside while you're waiting too. The food was also overall really good! The only thing is, I think they were trying to coordinate bringing all the food out at once for our table so some of our food was on the colder side because it was probably siting out while they were finishing cooking. FOOD: -- seafood pot pie - this was really good! There was big chunks of lobster in the pie and the overall flavor was on point. Who doesn't want to go eat their dinner at a gas station?? Now that I have your attention let me say that during COVID-19 their service is outdoors by the gas pumps and in other areas a little further away from the gas pumps. And this concept actually works because that's the way if I'm not mistaken, they do it other times anyway. That's why it's called exit 0 filling Station . On a Sunday evening it was a 20 minute wait for a table which is normal in Cape May. And the other thing they do here is fill your belly like I did last night when I ordered the lobster shrimp crab pot pie. I think at $26 it might have been the most expensive thing on the menu but it was totally worth it. I also had a vodka cucumber cocktail here called "the cuke" It was "interesting". One thing they are known for here is their Currys. I have to try that another time. The thing that really made dining here special last night was the fact that they had live music. Came here for dinner on a weeknight. Interesting restaurant that used to be a gas station. Pumps are still there. Tables are set up where the pumps are. We were told a 15 to 20 minute wait. It was more like 45. Too much when you have a baby with you. Our server, Heather, was wonderful. She was very understanding about the baby. She told us that the kitchen was backed up so we should put our orders in right away. She also got an order of fries out fast so the baby had something to munch on. Despite being told it would be a long wait for the food, our orders came out really fast. I had the bang bang shrimp and chicken which is a thai style curry. It was very good. Not the best curry I've ever had but really good nonetheless. I ordered naan to go with it. I really loved the naan. It had really good flavor. My daughter ordered the lobster and shrimp mac and cheese which is one of their specialties. She said it was really good. Overall a good experience. They had live entertainment which is always nice. A few parking spots right in the front, you'll see what looks like an actual gas station! There are tents and little themed trailers that give you some outdoor/indoor dining. We walked over to check this place out on a Wednesday evening. They had a live singer which was nice and good spacing between tables. We ordered some burgers with tator tots and got some thai shrimp soup. We started with the buffalo cauliflower and really liked it. It was super crispy thin battered with yummy buffalo sauce on it. It was the highlight of the meal. The Thai Shrimp soup was a good heat/spice level but sparse on shrimp and mushrooms which made it sort of watery. It had a nice curry flavor. The burgers were nothing to write home about. I had the cheddar bacon burger which, shockingly, had very little bacon flavor which bummed me out because I love a good bacon kick on a burger. Exit Zero is one of my favorite dinner places in the summer in Cape May. The location is so unique and fun (redesigned gas station), and if you're lucky, you'll get seated in one of their old fashioned air steamers. Although sitting outside in the summer I personally prefer because they often have live music. In terms of food, SO MANY good options. My personal favorite appetizers are the brussel sprouts and cauliflower bites. Bottom Line: Excellent food, plentiful seating options and average service. Exit Zero Filing Station has been on my wish list of places to try for awhile due to the excellent reviews. My husband and I finally got to give it a whirl on a September Saturday for lunch and it was a winner. What I liked most about Exit Zero Filing Station is the food. I tried the Indian Disco Fries and the Hot Chick Sandwich which were superb choices! I didn't know what disco fries were much less Indian Disco Fries. Apparently Indian Disco Fries are crispy fries with an addicting, savory cheesy curry sauce on top. I would return just for the fries but I was equally pleased with the Hot Chick Sandwich. The sandwich is made with fried chicken that has been marinated in a batter seasoned with Siracha but the sandwich was very mild. The fried chicken, pepper Jack cheese, sweet pickles, Cajun slaw and Siracha aioli were an awesome combo. We sat outside under the awning where presumably gas pumps would have previously been located. There is also an indoor dining room and bar alongside a small gift shop. A cool seating option outdoors is an old converted AirStream camper which apparently was added fairly recently. Service was average. Our server had a strong start but she didn't return to check on us between the food being delivered and the check being presented. I know I would have loved a drink refill. Overall it was a great experience and I would gladly return. read more

What a fun spot! Fabulous food! We sat at the bar, which was a good choice on the very hot afternoon we chose to dine at this much touted establishment. But, the outdoor (filling station) seating, with antique campers, is really charming I had the Pad Thai, which was DELICIOUS!!! The sauce the noodles were coated in was fabulous; the large grilled shrimp buried throughout the dish were over-the-top, outrageously delectable. Not sure how many shrimp were in the dish - but it could never be enough. The portion was so huge, I had to take home an entire bowl full of noodles (sans shrimp, of course). Seating is available indoors and outdoors. We sat outdoors. Our waitress was friendly, efficient, and attentive. Originally we planned to stop for just a drink. Then after seeing the food, we quickly changed our mind. We decided to order some lobster macaroni. I'm glad we did, since it was filling and delicious! The dining area was so light, bright and cheery. Everything sounded good. For appetizers, we shared the loaded nachos. Exit Zero had such an interesting concept of being a restaurant at a gas station (cue sushi at gas station joke here) but honestly, it was a better experience than anything I've had in Cape May! I made a reservation in advance to ensure our group could have two separate outdoor tables side by side for social distancing and the restaurant staff, Catherine, was friendly, quick to respond, and more than accommodating! I was so thankful for this because my group felt safe and comfortable and had SUCH a nice time while dining. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at the set up. The tables were under the area where you would normally get gas pumped (covered but outdoors) which helped us feel safe yet covered in case it were to rain (the weather had originally predicted rain but it was actually quite fine!). Our tables were separate as requested and, our server, Damian, was quick, attentive and super friendly! Our group ordered a variety of entree items off their brunch menu. I ordered the huge Scottish breakfast, my husband ordered the "hot chick" sandwich, etc. Let me tell you, I am still dreaming about that Scottish breakfast. Similar to what I've had in London as a traditional English Breakfast but with slight differences like white pudding instead of black, etc. The sausage it came with tasted of whiskey and was truly unique and delicious! It was such a nice surprise to the meal. I actually really enjoyed every bite (literally, I finished every bite) and I only wish this place was closer because I would get this entree all the time! Lastly, it is definitely worth mentioning that the outdoor area was dog friendly. This was a huge plus for us because we had two dogs with our group and it was so much easier to be able to bring them then to have to drive back and forth from the hotel to go to our next activity for the day. We are a big dog family and it's nice to easily have our dogs come along with us. Honestly Exit Zero was a home run of an experience! The chicken was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the bun was nice and fluffy. Waffle fries were very nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly as well. The chicken wasn't quite as hot as I would have liked for hot chicken, but it was quite tasty, As I described to my wife, it was kind of like an upgraded Chick Fil-A meal. While down in the Cape May area, passed this place on several occasions and it always seemed super busy which is a good sign. While hunting for good restuarnts that also have decent vegertain dining options, this place seemed Iike a no brainer. Called around 6:30 knowing they do not take reservations and w as told that wait would be 45 minutes. By the tike we arrived and found parking, wait jumped to an hour. At this point we were committed and ended up walking about .4 miles to the shopping district in Cape May ro kill some time. A bonus to checking in is they text you a confirmation as well as a link to check your status in line. As time passed and we were closer to being the next customer, we headed back. When we arrived, we still had time to kill, and ended up sitting in one of the many empty tables away from the restuarnt. There was some live music, and games such as cornholl to help pass the time. When checking out the inside, was surprised tonsee even more empty tables , despite the long wait time. I will say, the food industry is tough and I do realize people don't want to work, but it still sucks when you have an hour wait and there are so many empty tables. All my pictures off the dinning area (inside and out) were taken on a Saturday evening at 730 pm, thirty minutes in to our hour long wait. Clearly plenty of empty seats. I will say I do realize if they filled the tables and can not staff them betweeen servers and kitchen staff, it is better to keep them empty. When we finally sat down, ordered a cold beer, Slacktide Bell Buoy (Belgium Blonde) to start of the meal. For an appatizer, we had the Cauliflower Bites (Flash fried cauliflower chunks, served with your choice of sauce: Sriracha-buffalo, sticky Thai, General Tso or BBQ.) We ordered the sticky Thai on the side. When they came to the table, they were super hot and tasty. From the curry section, I ordered the Bang Bang Chicken & Shrimp (Shrimp & chicken in a coconut curry sauce, topped with spicy peanut sauce) and my daughter built her own burger with the Impossible (plant based) burger patty substituted. While I had high expectations of a tasty meal,, I was not blown away with my meal. Surprisingly I think I had more Shrimp than chicken, but chicken seemed a bit skimpy. With a good curry based meal, when cooked in a certain way, the curry flavor gets infused into the chicken. While there was definitely sauce on the chocken itself, if the sauce was not on it, probably would have tasted like a plain piece of chicken. I also found the the way it was prepared, I felt meal was drowned in the curry sauce. In addition to the shrimp and chicken, there was also rice and vegtable mixed all together. With the overabundance of sauce in my opinion, I had to work hard to try and scoop out the rice and vegetables. The taste itself was not horrible, it was just a pain to try and eat. The Impossible burger was an impossible burger that was nothing out of the ordinary. While I am use to paying an uncharte for thr paint based burger, today may have been the first time it came on at $20. I will say that many menu items could be customized to cater to vegetarians so I do give credit where credit is due in that there are many options available. Overall, the food was tasty but was not 5 star worthy in my opinion. When the check came, I tried to scan my receipt to pay directly woth Google Pay and was having trouble. I did notice when they give you the tip suggestion, they base the tip of the total bill, that includes sales tax. Unless I'm doing it wrong for all these years, pretty sure tip is based on Subtotal before taxes are added. Will leave it with it was a great place to visit and is a great tourist trap. We enjoyed the overall ambiance. Would I come heat again and give them a second shot, absolutely! However probably would not be my regular go to place unless next visit was dramatically improved. read more

One of my new favorite places in Cape May. I came here with the wife and kids. Any place that can keep them occupied (without iPads), well fed with decent food for the entire family, live entertainment, and amazing drinks gets at least 4 stars. When all of the above is actually amazing, and not your mediocre family restaurant, you get all 5 stars. The spicy chicken sandwich and butter chicken were great, fresh, and full of flavor. The kids had salmon, also fresh, and quickly gobbled down because that was the only way they were getting those unicorn ice cream shakes, which I stole a good chunk of. I've been wanting to try this place out for a few weeks so me and my family drove about 2 hours to give it a shot! Along with going to the beach of course! Listen I want you to understand that I'm going to be completely honest. I don't like to give bad reviews so when I give a review that's not so great I really try to explain. The atmosphere and vibe of the place was amazing! We ate outside, where they had lots of games and music exc... if we were basing this review just off the theming it would be a five star. The Food: I ordered the cauliflower bites W/ general tso sauce. Had a great bite, fried perfectly. My issue with them was that they had almost no flavor, no seasoning and very dry. When the server brought them out to me I said "oh I'm sorry I think the sauce was forgotten" and the server rudely told me that's how it comes. So I excepted it. Everyone else at the table enjoyed they're food. The alcoholic drinks: We ordered a drink called "anti-freeze". It was a great, fun looking drink and the ingredients listen were all good. Upon first taste, it was one of the worst drinks I've ever tasted...and I like all kinds of cocktails from straight to sweet. It wasn't about that. Just very unbalanced and a bad bad taste. The worst part of the whole experience was the service. Our server was absolutely terrible...I hate saying stuff like that. She almost completely ignored us the whole experience to the point where she would walk past us even after I would make eye contact, put my hand up and say "excuse me". I feel as if she mistreated us because of the fact that we are younger she thought "oh they probably won't tip so I don't care about them" even though that is so far from the truth. On top of all this, a few days later I checked my bank account only to find out they DOUBLE charged me. After seeing this that really made me upset. I had to talk to my bank and have them start the investigation process.... There is so much more I could talk about but I don't want to have a whole essay on Yelp. All I know is that none of us will ever be returning...sadly.. To end it on a positive note: the live performer they had that night was amazing! I would also like to add that after some negotiations they took the drink off our bill. There was only one sip dank from it and I appreciate that atleast they did that. read more
