My Aunt and I wanted to get a Mani and Pedi together so we called in the morning and we're able to both be seen at 2 PM that same afternoon. The nail salon is on the 2nd floor of their building near the Cobblestone shopping center in Tahoe City. Easy parking and quick to find. A great location with a beautiful view of the lake! We picked out our colors, we both decided to go with fall colors! I am very rough on my fingers at work and they cleaned them up beautifully. The shop it self isn't anything special in terms of looks but it's a cute little home shop that was perfect for what we needed! The employees that did our nails were very friendly and worked efficiently on us. We are very pleased and I absolutely LOVE my color! We will be back again! read more

They were able to accommodate our group and let us know in advance that there are 2 manicurist (a male and a female) available - so they could take us all 2 at a time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were so friendly and kind and did a great job on 5 pedicures (including tiny toes!), a gel manicure, and regular manicure.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The shop is located on the second floor of a building in the middle of Tahoe City. Those of us getting manicures had a beautiful lake view. The manicure/pedicure stations are clean and I witnessed them giving every thing a wipe down for the next customers. I really was surprised with this place for how small it is and a hole of a wall place! I got a refill but the pink wasn't the same as where I went before which I wasn't surprised by. I think they charge a little much for pink powder fill but there's only 2 nail salons in Tahoe City and I needed to get them fixed before work. I had such a good experience here for my first mani/pedi in months, and in a COVID-19 world, I felt very safe. When I entered the doorway, they scanned my forehead to check my temperature, gave me a generous pump of hand sanitizer, and sprayed my body with a light alcohol spritz. The owners are so sweet. They both wore masks and a face shield. After they were finished, they sanitized the polish, UV light and the chair. I will be back here. Both my pedicure and gel manicure turned out fantastic. I would leave no stars but that's not an option. We made an appointment the day that we got into town for two manicures and pedicures, we choose to get gel on both hands and feet. With tip costing us each $100, so $200 total. Within hours of leaving the salon the green nail polish on my friends finger nails were coming off and were goopy and never set after hours, which should not happen with gel! Then the next day she went in to get them fixed and they wanted her to come back even though there was not a single person in there. Then we wake up the next morning and THREE of her toes polish had come completely off after normal swimming in the lake, as one does in Lake Tahoe during the summer! We called as soon as we realized and the lady who works there was super upset that she had already had to fix the nails once (which was their fault!) and was very unkind about it and said that it was our fault and our problem, when anyone who gets gel polish knows that it should not happen like that after only a few days! She proceeded to blame my friend and kept on saying it was our problem! We went back in once again and they fixed it, as well as fixing my nails that had chipped after less than THREE days! I suspect that The only reason she was nice when we got there was because they had other clients in the shop, so they fixed it no problem! Only for THREE HOURS later for my friends toe polish to come COMPLETELY OFF once again! As someone who works for a small local business, I could never imagine treating someone the way that she treated us! We will NEVER come back to this nail salon!! read more

They had a fun movie on a big screen with subtitles which made the time go faster. I had chosen a poor color for my skin tone, and even without me asking, offered to paint a different color as a top coat after finishing my origcolor choice. Exotic Nails took safety protocols seriously; temperature checks, face masks, hand sanitizer upon arrival and an alcohol based spray on my arms/legs. I'll give Exotic Nails 3 stars, mainly for it's location - it's one of the only (if not the only) nail places in Tahoe City. I was in Tahoe for a wedding last weekend and wanted to get my nails done. Exotic Nails was just a couple of blocks from my hotel, so I gave it a try. The first thing I noticed (and all the other reviews here definitely gave my a heads up about this) was the strong fumes! Exotic Nails is located in the upstairs section of a building that houses a few different retail stores. It's a bit out of the way and doesn't have very good air-flow. However, there is a good-sized window in there and a fan (that was not on at the time). I think just opening the window and keeping the fan on would do wonders. My pedicure came out well, but it was a little more expensive than I'm used to paying ($32) and I wasn't 100% positive that the tools were sanitized after each use - at my normal place, they show them to you in a sealed pouch first. So, in summary ... 1 star for for a nice looking pedicure 2 stars for location -1 star for fumes -1 star for sanitary concerns read more

I don't know of any other nail salons in Tahoe City, so this place gets three stars, two of which are for location. Nothin' like a little pampering for the feet after a long hike. However, the atmosphere is lacking. Lacking in oxygen, that is... the fumes are ridiculous. So much chemical smell it is hard to relax. I really respect the hard working owners, Tony and Hun. Together, they carefully maintain a clean, pleasant salon. I particularly appreciate their courtesy in that they do not overbook. If you have an appointment and show up on time, they are ready for you. My manicures (gel) and pedicures are always beautifully styled. I have only been there 3 or 4 times and something needs to be tweaked a little better as my gel finish does not last quite as long as I expect; otherwise I would give them a full 5 stars. read more

Called and asked if they could do a full set, they responded in broken english that in fact yes they could. I then show up and the man makes a rude comment about how I should have made an appointment. Needing my nails done for a wedding I was going to in Tahoe I decided to get them done there anyways. He starts to work on my nails, and immediately starts asking me why I bite my nails and how the acrylics aren't going to look right because my nails are too short. He then discovers that I am not from the area and that I won't be back for a fill since I live a few hours from Tahoe. At that point he lost total interest in me. 30 dollars for some plain french tip acrylics? Yikes! read more
