One person got her nails all messed up and we were able to get her into Serendipity Salon and get them back to "picture worthy". We also had one guest in the wedding needing a wash and blow dry. I am so dissapointed with the work Kathy did and feel stupid for coming here. Literally the worst bleach job I have ever had. I feel like she robbed me for how expensive it was. It is so blotchy and horrible with brassy tones and totally uneven and stripes even after I came in again to get it fixed. I paid $150 for completely uneven blotchy hair. I asked for "blended to my roots" "faded into my roots" and "a shade lighter" even mentioned "balayage". Had to have her mix another bowl of toner because she assumed the weird peachy color was the tone i wanted but really was about 5 months of toner washing out and the previous pink dye that washed out and had to beg for the correct toner to be mixed up. The toner was intense and she put it on twice since I went in again to get it fixed, my hair is a strange color now as well as extremely damaged. She was babysitting her grandaughter while doing my hair which is beyond unprofessional. Although very cute she was extremely distracting, prancing around the studio, needing things and taking away from our appointment. The studio is super dusty/dirty with lots of chipping paint, old magazines, clutter, a tell tale sign of how much someone cares about their buisness. The wash basin is crammed in a corner which is chipping and has black marks on the wall from dirty shoes and feet that get pressed up against it, no one bothered to paint it or wash the dirty black spot on the wall? Maybe the $150 could go towards some paint or some windex. You couldn't pay me to come back here. read more

Hmm, I wonder if Jessica D. and Sara J. might happen to work at a competing salon? So sad that they would resort to Yelp-bombing such a sweet family run salon like Serendipity. Both joined within 2 days of each other, have only written one review (extremely negative), have no profile picture, and are both FULL OF BS because Kathy and the other stylists at Serendipity are the sweetest group of ladies you could hope for! I have probably gotten my hair cut there well over 50 times over the last 10 years and I always came away with a good haircut and that warm feeling you get after getting caught up on what everyone in the community is up to. I highly recommend Serendipity, and encourage readers to take the negative reviews with a heaping bag of rock salt! read more

I must give the salon two stars for the good manicures and pedicure we received, but I would give no stars simply for the poor service. I was visiting the area for my sister's wedding from Los Angeles. I called the salon for nail appointments a week early, and because I wasn't yet sure of a set schedule, and not wanting to have to cancel at the last moment, I asked if they would accept four walk-in manicures on a Friday. They assured me that this was fine and that they would be happy to host us if we called a day in advance. I did this and was able to schedule an entire afternoon that they assured me would be "cleared just for your family." However, the day of, they called and asked me to move the appointments to an hour later, but stated we would be taken care of and would be able to make the 4pm rehearsal. Going into the appointments, we were lighthearted and happy to have it working out, but left feeling frustrated and the target of their criticisms. Upon arrival, we had to wait for the pedicurist to even begin another client who "schedules her appointments months in advance" but was running an hour late. We shrugged this off, and worked with the woman giving manicures while waiting for the bride to have her pedicure. However, when the bride did begin her pedicure, the woman was complaining about how tired she was, how long this day had been, and how she was doing US a favor...true story! After finishing the bride's pedicure, the pedicurist hung around, folding towels, and bumping into us, until the bride realized she was waiting for her tip. After giving her the minimal 15%, she left immediately. The woman giving the manicures was nice enough, until she asked me personal questions regarding my religious beliefs and laid down judgment on my sister the bride for living with her fiance before marriage. Wow. I was simply stunned. We attempted to make our somewhat inflexible schedule work with the salon's schedule and give them business, but in the future, we will not return. Which is a pity, as the bride and in-laws make frequent trips to this area. read more

Linda did a fabulous job communicating with me via email during the 2 weeks prior to my destination wedding ceremony in Incline Village. She was extremely kind, patient, helpful, and knowledgeable as I sent her pictures of myself (my hair) and pictures of different up-dos that I was considering for my actual wedding day. When I arrived at the salon the day of my wedding, we felt like we practically knew each other. She spent a solid 2+ hours working on getting my hair to look exactly as I had envisioned it looking. It turned out amazing!!! I would very highly recommend Linda for a fancy up-do and I would definitely use her again if ever I have the need while in Incline. read more

Trulie was spectacular. I walked in and she was able to fit me in little bit later. I had gotten a pretty bad gel nail job done at a different salon but she was able fix the terrible shape the other salon had left my nails in. She was patient and insisted on being gentle with my nails and getting it right this time. She was also sweet and great to talk to. I cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

I can only yelp about owner Kathi's services. When I lived in Incline Village, Nevada for a year, I insisted on having my kinky-curly long hair blown straight two to three times a week. I HATE sitting in the chair almost as much as I hate doing my own hair, but Kathi is fast--accomplishing what takes less experienced hairdressers an hour or more in just about twenty minutes. She is consistently good, always finds a way to fit me into her jam-packed schedule, and is very reasonably priced. She also dyed my grays the perfect shade of brown everytime! Love her and miss those do's. read more

Awful is the only way to describe the salon. Awful in every aspect - skill, service, cleanliness. The talent of the stylists was that of blind new students at a low rent beauty school. No one (except my 9-year-old daughter, but well she is 9) was happy with their hair. And we all ended up going home and redoing our hair again ourselves. I made an appointment for blowouts for 5 people - I was treating. I called in advance to make sure they accepted credit cards. Right after my hair was washed and dripping wet I was asked to walk into a restaurant to go to an ATM to take money out to pay for one of the stylists. This same stylist had her boyfriend come in and ask when she would be off work. She looked at my party rolled her eyes in disgust, pointed at us and said that she couldn't leave until "they" were done. Very rude and disrespectful. I was quoted $40-50 per person depending on hair length and thickness. I was charged $55 -65 per person. None of the stylists used any product in hair beforehand to protect our hair from the heat of blow-dryers, curling irons and flat irons used. The salon was dirty, dusty all around gross. Find another place to have your hair done or do it yourself at home. You'll be better off. read more

Great experience here! I was visiting from out of town and didn't know which nail salon to make an appointment at it. I'm so glad I chose this one. My friend and I had the best experience. Everyone was very professional and friendly and met all of our needs, and we were sort of demanding. My friend decided she wanted a haircut too and they fit her in with no problem. Trulie took care of my manicure and did a wonderful, thorough job. The best I've had in a long time. My nails look awesome! I really recommend Trulie for nails. read more

My mother in law and her best friend were up in December to visit and needed haircuts (short styles). Their former hairdresser in San Jose had moved and the person they tried in November actually mixed up their hair color formulas... not a pretty sight! I recommended Serendipity salon and they were both able to get haircuts within 2 days of calling. They looked awesome!!! Kathi styled them in up-to-date looks, good product, they looked fantastic. They just went back this month and had their color done and it looks great too. They will trust no one else to do their hair now and I guess I will be seeing them once a month!! read more

I originally had an appointment at the Hyatt salon since we were in for the weekend to get married however the morning of my wedding day I received a call stating they had to cancel my appt since the stylist had been in a car accident. I called several salons but they were all booked. I did however get an appt at Serendipity. When I walked in there was only 1 lady working and she was on a personal phone call. After waiting several minutes she asked me what I wanted to get done. I told her I wanted blowout and style with soft curls using a curling iron. She shampooed and conditioned my hair but I started getting concerned when she began blow drying my hard. She was using a small round brush and my hair kept getting It tangled and she'd pull and tear my hair out. The first and second time it got tangled I let it slide but when she did it a third time I about had it and told her I decided that I was going to go back to the hotel and do my own blow drying and styling. I paid her the $10 for the shampoo and I have to say it was the worst $10 I spent. She had offered to finish blow drying my hair but I didn't want her to do anymore damage and waste any more time there. I walked out with 90% wet hair. I ended up doing my own hair for my wedding and it turned out well. I would not recommend this place at all if you're getting a blowout and style for your wedding. Don't risk it!! read more

Seriously as good as it gets. I was up in Tahoe On Saturday and then headed Sunday 3 1/2 hours to Livermore to officiate at a wedding. Linda extended her hours and the 2 of us had the salon all to ourselves. Really just about the best blowout I ever had. She was so patient and thorough with my hair. Went to Serendipity Salon for an emergency mani/pedi and was paired with Heather Compel(?). Worse pedi I have ever received. None of the usual "stuff" that I expected, like leg massage AND the polish that was used last four days! I have never had polish chip in four days, especially on my toes! The service cost me $85! Had an incredible mani/pedi somewhere else for $55. Would never go back. I mean really? Forgot to mention that after service Heather told me that she only accepted cash. Had to go to the bar next door and withdraw money. read more

I was there last week with by sister the day before her wedding, I received a manni/pedi and she needed a blow dry as well as a manni/pedi. We were there for 3 hours which was not expected, even after we explained that we were in an time crunch they didn't seem to care and took their sweet time, answering phones, having conversations etc. Trulie was friendly and all but she was not able to give a proper French manicure after trying many times, my sister said forget it and just had her do polish. Also her toes were not great and the polish chipped that day. It was explained to the hairdresser just to blow dry and brush curl, but she used a curling iron and burned the scalp of the brides head. The price was crazy expensive for the poor service. I would never return. read more

While I do admit that my mother owns this salon, I can say with all honesty that she has been doing my hair for 25 years (since the first hair grew in), and it hasn't been all roses, but I would never go to anyone else, EVER (and I currently live in Southern California--you'd think I could adapt to someone new, but ohhh no!). Irregardless of our familial relationship, I would love to tell you about some of my experiences as the salon guinea pig. There has certainly been some craziness with new product lines over the years, but as someone who's had my hair or nails or facials or waxing done at this salon for every special occasion in my life, and as someone who literally grew up in the salon environment, I am EXTREMELY picky, and I pick SERENDIPITY, and most specifically, KATHI (owner). Please give this salon a shot, and you WILL be more than pleased with the results because Kathi Clark is not a person who would allow a client of her salon to be unhappy with their hair. I am so pleased with Kathi's professionalism and wonderful technical skills. She knows how to do precision classic cuts and trendy updated looks, too. On a lark, I went into a new salon and asked the stylist to "tip up the back" a little....specifically saying how I had just finished growing out my layers, and specifically asking for a "shaping"," not a cut". Minutes later, much of the hair on the back of my head was cut off, and not in a precise, balanced way, but in a rather haphazard and irregular shape. Yikes!! Vanity prevailed and I called Kathi to ask if she would see me to fix "my mistake". Kathi graciously invited me in and took care of me to the best of her ability. I immediately felt better with my appearance. I am very grateful. Needless to say, I will not be venturing elsewhere. Thanks, again, Kathi. You are the best. read more

I called for a pedicure last min before my trip to Mexico, I had to talk to 3 different people on the phone till I got an answer. Finally I was the last apt of the night and the girl would not stop talking about how it was her day off, if that was the case I would of taken my business else where. They don't have message chairs and the girl used a metal bowl to put my feet in Luke warm water. The pedicure came out ok but the chair was very uncomfortable, it was hanging off the wall. Like a fold down seat. Then when i left she charged me $45 for just a pedicure. After that the girl ended up running my card twice and charging me $90. I left for Mexico the next morning and didn't have cell service there, heck I was on vacation. After I got back I checked my bank and saw i was over charged it took about 3 weeks for me to get my $35 back because I left a $10 tip, that now I'm wishing I didn't. If you want to get your ear talked off and an ok $45 pedicure this is the place. read more

Serendipity salon seems really unsanitary there is two inches of dust on everything there is clutter every where I felt extremely cramped and I didn't even want to set my purse down because all the disgusting hair that wasn't even swept before I sat down. The owner of the salon did my hair and even though I told her to please not use a razor she proceeded to butcher my hair. She listened to nothing I said and I got the impression that this is a cut that she does on most of her clientele because the women waiting for her had the same cut she gave me. I think she may be a little out dated, her hair is pinkish orange. I also felt as though the conversation was very inappropriate lets just say political talk doesn't belong in the salon, don't ever try to push your views on me when you know nothing about me very unprofessional. read more

Awful. Went in for a cut and have been very upset ever since. Cut way too short and not at all how I wanted it. It seemed she couldn't get it even and just kept cutting. At one point I had to tell her to stop and ended up in tears at the salon. I've never been so upset over a haircut in my life. Please do not go here for a cut. read more
