BEWARE OF THIS PLACE! Never in my life, have I experienced such terrible service and disrespect. I asked how much for wax my foot.. first she thought I asked for my lower leg. She quoted 35. I corrected her and said , " no, my foot. She quoted me 10. As she began to put wax on my toes. She then changed her mind and tries to charge me an extra 10 dollars to include the dorsal part of the foot. She went on to explain that she charges 7 dollars for the lip alone . I never in my life have paid 20 to wax my feet. I explained to her that I asked her the price PRIOR for a reason. If the price was above what I usually pay, I would never have agreed to it. I'll pay 15 not 20. She insults me and tells me she never had a client negotiate prices. They just accept it. Well lady. They probably just accept it cause they don't want a 1/2 fast job. Told her to just finish the toes and paid her, her overly priced 10 bucks wax job for my 5 hairs on my toes .
Made and appt. for 10:30, two days ago. Arrived at 10:35, but the store was locked and nobody was inside. Went back to my car to call (got voicemail.) Glad I waited for a few minutes, because 2 employees arrived another 5 minutes later. Pedicure by Julie was perfectly adequate. Nothing bad or spectacular. Mani by Kathy who was REALLY aggressive about me looking through her dip colors, even though I brought my own with me, and I showed her. Sat me in a pedi chair, and left another set of dip colors on the chair for me to look through. Again I said, "no thanks," as I wanted to use my own. (It's heat sensitive and changes colors. Also, I usually do my own, but didn't have the time which is why I came to a nail salon. And if any break or chip I can fix them myself, but need to have the same color on hand.) Glad I bought my own color, because when I get home, I'm going to need to file the topcoat off of this, add another layer of dip, and put a new topcoat on. Taking photos of specific issues with your nails is always really really difficult, because you're trying to take pictures of things that are very, very small. I know it doesn't look like much in the pictures, but in person it's NOT awesome. The topcoat is wavy and pocked. Three of my nails were filed on an angle, even though they were prepped for shape and length prior to my appointment. When I called to make the appointment, I asked for pricing. I was told $50 for a dip manicure and $25 for a pedicure. Had them do callus removal (used a pumice sponge) which was an additional $5, please see photo. Keep in mind this is an hour AFTER my pedicure. So when I asked Kathy what I owed her, she said $100. I couldn't figure out how she got there... she thought I had a gel pedicure, which is an additional $10. (But 50+25+5+10=90. Not 100.) We straightened out the gel issue, which should've made it $80, but she still said 90. That's when I found out that they charged $10 to remove the dip manicure that I walked in with. I've never been charged to remove previous dip manicure. (Removal meant sticking both hands into a bowl full of acetone for 30 minutes. I haven't had a manicure removed that way in YEARS.) When I called for pricing, why wouldn't she have told me that it was $50 for the manicure, plus $10 to remove? And I know that many people have commented about what a careful job they do there. So I wasn't expecting to be in and out quickly, but I was there for just short of three hours... and I think it's pretty obvious that I won't be back. Update: at 9pm, same day, I broke my first nail...
kathy did an amazing job on my custom design gel x nails! i wanted to get something for my bday as a taurus and favorite color green. since my nails are wide, it took a while to find the perfect nail shapes for me but kathy took her time to make sure everything looked good and fit well. come here to receive quality and personalized services!
4 words: best nail salon ever This nail salon is definitely recommended. I've seen a few comments stating that they walk in but they end up getting turned down or having to wait for 2 hours. Let me tell you why. This nail salon is not like your typical nail salon. Kathy really takes her time to make sure that she delivers a satisfying and beautiful result. Aside from nail salon services, I also get my eyelash extension from Kathy. Again. Highly recommended. She takes her time to make sure that the end product is so beautiful.
An overdue 5-star review for my favorite nail salon and nail artist, Kathy. I go here religiously and nowhere else because of the quality and professionalism Exotic Nails holds highly. No longer do I have to worry about getting overfilled nails that don't compliment my skin tone, an infection from a cut, or feeling rushed and unwelcome from getting my nails done. Kathy is amazing and makes me feel like I'm home every time. She is careful in her craft and articulate, and always produces results that exceeds my expectations. I absolutely love every manicure full set I have ever gotten from her. My nails grow slowly and are extremely sensitive and brittle, but Kathy treats them gently and shapes them as well as strengthens them for proper growth. I usually get a Gel X set which is perfect for anyone who finds acrylics too harsh or strong on their nail beds. She's the one who suggested them for me and I can never go back to acrylics now! Kathy keeps the salon clean and tidy, and always uses a fresh sanitized set of utensils per session. I appreciate cleanliness because I've gotten infections from other places that neglected sanitizing. Also I always set an appointment for my nails which should be more common practice for small businesses post-CoVid. I love communicating with her what I would like for my nails because she adjusts it to be better than what I planned. She is incredibly patient and kind- A true master at what she does! She's really one in a million when it comes to nail salons in this area.
Total rip off. To say the least. Stay away. Nails lifted in a week and I was charged $152 for gelx set and French tip pedicure. She said the "design" was $25-30 more that's why it was so much. I wouldn't call it a design it's more like a French tip with a line. I felt robbed after 2 nails popped of 6 days later.

CALL TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. Trust me, IT'S WORTH IT. Since they are getting more popular because of Yelp, they are getting pretty busy and there's not many of them working there! They like to ensure that your nails are exactly the way that you want it, and hard work takes time... so keep that in mind! read more

My trip to Mexico is in a couple of days and I need my nails done! I came here after searching up a few places on yelp. I own a nail spa myself so I am very particular on where I go. I'm back home on vacay for a month since I live up north now. So glad I found Exotic Nails! I had called to get quotes on pricing a little after 10 am, but no one picked up. As soon as I hung up they had called back and I set up an appointment for the next hour. Upon arriving, the lady Kathy had greeted me and took me right away. When I sat down I had told her how I wanted my nails done and she got started on my fill. She was very meticulous and made sure the shape and everything was to my liking. She took her time and didn't rush through the service. I was very happy on how my nails came out. I also got a polish change from Tina. I like my toenails extremely short, because I run. Most people don't like cutting my toenails THAT short, but Tina had no problem. Even my own nail techs at my shop don't like cutting them that short. The place itself is clean and very affordable! Both of the ladies were very friendly and made my nails and toes Mexico ready! My fill was $15 and my polish change came out to $7, because I broke my big toenail from running! So Tina had to put a bit of acrylic on my big toe ;( sighh but at least it's whole again! I wish I could take both ladies back to my nail spa! Haha but then again I won't have anyone to do my nails whenever I'm back home! So I'll mosdef be back here whenever I am back in town. Thanks again ladies! :) read more
A bit out-dated, a bit understaffed, a bit small but the price and the service is great! Not knowingly where Exotic Nails was located at, I found it in a breeze since its in the same plaza as Black&White Cafe! I came in a day before Valentines day to get my nails pretty for the "big" day, and found this small little gem on Yelp! There was only 3 workers and 2 workers were working on 1 client and 1 lady was ahead of me.... and got there around 4:30 (without an appointment) and left there 6:30 for a pedicure. So, if you do plan on coming, make sure you have some open time to relax cause it seems like their customers are use to it. I absolutely really liked ( i didn't say love) but really liked my pedicure and will definitely give it a second try! She ( tina) was extremely nice, helpful, sweet and on-point with her work; shes a perfectionist... and I really dig that! read more

I had been going to LA Nails in the West Covina Mall for years and was wanting a change. It gets too busy and kind of hate that it's in the middle of the mall. Came here to Yelp to see what I could find and despite a few negative reviews, decided on Exotic Nails. I've been wearing lacquer nails for about a year (heard its easier on nails than acrylic), but decided to take everything off and wear my own with gel. Kathy was very thorough in getting natural nails clean and healthy. I love how my nails look and my hands feel so much lighter. Glad that I went and Exotic will be doing my nails from now on. read more

I loved my experience at this place and I will definitely go back. The only reason as to why I would give this 4 stars is for a couple reasons. 1. When I called to know about prices and make an appointment, the lady on the phone (not the one who did my nails) told me it would cost about $40 for a full set (it was actually $25). I personally thought that was pricey for a full set but I made an appointment anyways. Then, she said to call back later because the person who would usually do appointments wasn't there yet. Calling back later, I did end up getting an appointment the same day, which I am happy about. 2. When Kathy did my nails, she had cut me but was really careful after that. She also apologized, but just knowing the fact that she wasn't careful to begin with, I was doubting her already. 3. As much as I love my mani, I'm sort of a perfectionist and was a little upset seeing there was some acrylic at the bottom of my nail and at my past manicurist, she would do that. I will definitely let Kathy know to clean it next time though. Overall, I was pleased with this place. I do recommend Kathy because she did take her time to do my nails and always made sure I was okay with it. I didn't realize the bottom of my nail till I got home, but I'm happy! read more

Husband sent me out to get pampered . I was next door getting a massage and when I got out I decided to see if they had room for a walk in , luckily someone had cancelled with Kathy . The service was great . She is so nice, friendly and helpful. Will be returning soon. read more

This place is amazing, I made an appointment but came in early so I was taken as soon as possible (busy valentines day prep). Tina is awesome! I opted for the sea spa pedicure ($18.50) and it was superb, my last pedicure experience (down the street from my house) was horrendous so this was a very soothing experience . You get seated in a massage chair, lovely, Tina is really nice and made the entire process a very enjoyable one. I accidentally forgot to dress appropriately (wore boots) and Tina brought me those disposable sandals, I will definitely be back with friends! :D Specs: parking is a bit tight, price is worth it (+$5 for nail design and extra charge for gel), courteous staff. read more

I came here earlier today and I think this is the only nail salon I can go to now, thanks to Fiona! She is so sweet! I was there for almost 2 hours, a little long for me, but it's because Fiona was taking her time and was making sure my nails were exactly how I wanted them. And I couldn't be happier! I came in around 330 and there was no wait time. I paid $30 for her to take off my previous gel/ acrylics + a brand new set. I will definitely be coming back. Minus one star for a small selection of nail polish. read more

I stopped by on a Sunday before a wedding reception, they stayed open even later than 5pm because they had so many people come in! Got a mani and pedi which came out to about $50. Had my toes painted and had a gel French tip with glitter and 3D flowers done on my hands by Kathy. She did an amazing job and also gave me a discount since the wait was long! They take a lot of attention to detail here and make sure that you leave with nails looking professional and amazing. I will definitely be back. By far the best nail salon I have been to thus far. Really love Kathy's work and her meticulous detail and care when it comes to creating a masterpiece on your nails. I would definitely recommend scheduling ahead of time, because they do get packed and only have 3 women working. A+! Can't wait to come back and have some cute 3D artwork done :) read more

This review is solely on their $18.50 sea salt pedicure and a cuticle clean up.. the interior is small and all their equipment is old, ripped up, the polishes were cheap and selection was very narrow. the massage chairs were run down, the massage was OK. it wasn't one of those chairs that has a huge lump in the middle of your back which stays there, and it wasn't one of those massage chairs that hurt your back, the massage felt decent. the massage was very quick, the only thing that took the most time was the lotions, oil, and sea salt that she put on (which i paid extra for, of course) she did a good job cleaning up my cuticles on my hands (i had acrylic nails on) my feet looked OK. I've been to places where I'm leaving with feet that look and feel so fresh n' so clean! so overall, A-OK but I'm not sure if i would go back to get my nails done. the good thing about this place is that they don't push you to spend more than you intended too, this place is the ONLY place I've visited where they don't try to convince you to get other unnecessary extras, she actually convinced me to not pay extra for 3-d design on my toes. i gave her extra for tip and she said i gave her too much, you can tell they were not money hungry ladies and considerate. read more

Have been here for 3 years. This place is clean and nice. All the ladies work here are so nice and professional. They know how to take care of your nails. Absolutely 5 star for their service! Also, not like some other nail salons, the place has no chemical smell. read more

Been coming here for a couple months and have never been disappointed. The service is great, both Kathy and Fiona do an amazing job with nails. They can do any design you ask. Tina also does a great job with Nails and Pedis, never have I left upset. I do highly recommend making an appt ahead of time avoid waiting! They are always so busy, hard to fit walk-ins. Amazing attention to detail! I loved learning about all of my different options (chrome, dip powder, gel, acrylic) from Kathy. Kathy and Julie payed so much attention to my nails, I've never spent 3 hrs getting a mani + pedi but they came out amazing. Appointments are really important here so make sure you make one. I will check to see how long my gel chrome lasts but my fiancé loved his mani as well! read more

I came here to get my nails done on Saturday before a wedding. I tried calling when they first opened to make an appointment for a gel manicure and a pedicure. They said that they didn't have time until the afternoon, so I settled for a regular manicure. When I got there, they put me in a pedicure chair and started working on my pedicure. Kathy was nice and said that if their appointment at 11 didn't show up then they could do my gel manicure. I got here at around 11 and it took them about 40ish minutes to finish my pedicure. The pedicure is $15 but I opted for the sea scrub which was $3 dollars more. The sea salt did feel good, but I don't know if it was worth the $3. After my pedicure I had to wait about 15 minutes for Fiona to finish because Kathy was busy. She started my manicure at around 12:10 and finished around 12:45. This was the first time I got my nails done with a gel manicure and I think i'm addicted. She did a pretty good job even though I had told her I needed to be out of there by 1 so I could go home and get ready. The only complaint I would have is that it is a little pricey. I did once color gel manicure and sea salt pedicure and paid $50 including tip. I think that's a little on the pricey side. I would definitely check out some other places next time, but if you're in the area and need somewhere quick and good to go to, then this would be the place. Advice: I would recommend to make an appointment and bring cash for tip. read more

I'm skeptical on trying new salons but figured id give it a try. Kathy was very nice along with Fionna who did my nails. She did an amazing job! Friendly staff, and great work. Regardless of an appointment, the wait time is terrible! I scheduled an appointment days in advanced for Kathy because I've read so many great reviews about her work. I also called 15 minutes before my appointment time and spoke to her. I came on time and unfortunately Kathy was working on another client's manicure. It's been 50 minutes past my appointment and I'm still waiting for her! I think upholding a customer's appointment is equally as important as being a good manicurist. Update: after an hour and 15 minutes later, Kathy finally saw me. She spent two hours on my manicure. The four stars is not for her work but I had to take off a star because of the wait time. Update May 3/2015: I received so many compliments for her gel work. The best part is that it lasted for 3 weeks! read more

I love this place!! Everyone always talks about kathy and tina but my first time there Fiona did my acrylic nails.. She takes so much time and makes sure it's exactly how you want it! I ended up going somewhere else but I kept thinking that Fiona at exotic nails does it so much better! Found this place on yelp and I'm glad that I did . When I walked I was immediately greeted . The ladies are all so nice. The lady that did my pedicure was so gentle and took her time . The other lady (I'm thinking it was the owner ) did my gel manicure and she was gentle and very detailed . I will definitely return . read more

I can't even explain how happy I am with this place! Today was my first time here, got a pedicure with Julie and my gel manicure with Kathy. These women are so kind and professional I have no idea why anyone would say otherwise. They use sterile utensils for every customer which is great. The quality of their work is unreal. They are so precise and make sure everything is perfect. They take their time but it's so worth it. This is my new regular spot! read more

First and last time here. Came here because of the reviews and because they "take" walk-ins. Got my nails done 3 days ago with Kathy. When I walked in, there was no wait. mind you this was 12:30 on a Saturday. My friend got a regular manicure with one of the other ladies there, Kathy at first said we don't have time to service me, for me to make an appointment. I told her it was fine I would just wait for my friend. Then 10 mins in she said I'm almost done I'll take you after. Was excited to get a full set for the first time in years. After waiting over an hour for her to finish, I told her we had to run because we had an appointmeant at 3:30. She said I can finish before then... I said ok if you're sure. As she was putting the gel on she notices it didn't dry fully so she said come back after and I'll fix it for you. I told her ok I will. After my appointment I went back only for her to tell me "you're suppose to call me I don't have time right now or wait an hour" after being there prior for 3 hours, she was going to make me wait even longer. I told her I couldn't wait, Asked her if I could come in Sunday she said no I don't have time, so I scheduled an appointment to come in at noon on Tuesday. I get there and she's not there!!!! One of the other ladies calls her only for her to say she's won't be in for another 30-40 mins. Seriously!!! This is why I made an appointment!!! For me to come back after work and she can take me!! Horrible service no regard for the customers time or money paid. If you don't have time don't say you take walk ins. And if you make an appointment respect the time scheduled. read more
